I think the X-Men titles have been good with Hickman at the helm. As I said earlier, their output of Conan titles has been good. The new Iron Man title was better than the garbage IM title Slott put out. Gwenpool I think has been the best of the new characters they have tried pushing during the last decade. Stupid name that tanked her though because I think people just assume she's just a Deadpool knock off. I actually kind of liked Future State. Not every book was good but I liked several of the books. The events around Gotham were generally interesting. I really liked Yara Flor as Wonder Woman. I liked how she's kind of just a dumbass that's quick to anger and thinks every situation can be punched out of. I am hopeful with Didio out that they learned their lesson and I am glad Wally is finally getting his rightful spot back as Flash. But I also know DC can't help themselves and will fuck this up.

Honestly, most of Marvel's output hasn't been good for a long time. You get some gems like the Conan stuff but they have horribly neglected some of their books like Fantasticsl Four and keep pushing just way too much symbiote stuff. DC has had a lot of issues, especially in the main Batman title. But by and large they have been acceptable stories and seem to be on a positive track with Didio gone and seemingly giving almost a completely new set of writers the keys to the kingdom.

I think I have maybe 15-18 longboxes. I think the highlights of my collection are Giant Size X-Men #1, the first appearance of the Punisher and most important first appearances for X-Men characters outside of the original 5, Magneto and Juggernaut. I believe the earliest X-Men issues I own are 5, 10 and 13. I got a ton of old stuff in the late 90s and early 00s when people were trying to get out after the collector bubble burst. I wish I had stuck to my guns and got a copy of X-Men 1 back then. I think I would probably just sell for a lump sum, say $1000 or so.

I am a lazy fuck that has considered selling my collection the last couple of years. I don't have these. But I have a massive X-Men collection and several issues early in the Claremont/Cockrum run signed by Cockrum. I really just want them gone but it's really hard to deal with a collection of any size.

The problem with the Rollins cash in and reign was that it was only worth it if Lesnar or Reigns murdered him for the belt shortly after. But we got a 6-7 month run that felt like it was never going to end.

It totally shocked me when people online briefly wanted him to have the belt again in 2018-2019. His first reign was so awful that it showed he has no business ever being better than a mid-carder.

This is a good one. It undercut Reigns pretty badly and then Seth as champion chased off a huge portion of the audience. This is really the point that started the path to where they find themselves today with record low ratings.

    Most Athletic Wrestler Ever

Brock Lesnar and I don't think it's close if we're talking pure athletes. He had a successful MMA career that got sidelined due to sickess. He was a successful amateur wrestler and he almost willed his way onto an NFL practice squad with limited football experience.

You would need to look at how they structured the house shows while he was there. It's possible some of his programs were carrying the B show circuit.

Speaking of angles. I know LOLTNA but I thought he was good as the commissioner there. Especially his slow heel turn. It's a shame they ran out of money before that went anywhere.

Wasn't some of the stuff with Steamboat, especially in 1989, his wife making some interjections about his character and gimmick? I can also see the physique. When I finally saw old Mid-Atlantic footage and him pre-WWF I was kind of shocked at how ripped he is compared to the late 80s and early 90s.

    The Cancellation of Jim Cornette

What I kind of like going back to Street is, like you said, he wasn't gay, he was probably bi or into kinky shit. But his character knew people thought he was gay so he would play into that if it got him an advantage. I always like how before the bell he would prance around and play up an effeminate gay sterotype and then the second the bell rang that was gone and he was just on guys like a wild animal.

Thunderbolts is a good read along with Busiek and Perez's Avengers run. Really cool idea for s book that was a lot of fun for a few years.

Same. I actually wish he would talk more about comic books because I would be fascinated to see his collection but he talks about that maybe once or twice a year.

That was what the Drive Thru originally was but it's all bled over there.

He is also king of projection. When he gets on his political rants he's more often than not describing himself. Brian Last has kind of steered him into shock jock radio. All they need is some naked chicks and they might as well be Howard and Robin.

He was involved in some enjoyable stuff in early 80s Mid-Atlantic. Wahoo and him fucking with Piper was always good. I thought the stuff with Slaughter and Kernodle was a good angle as well.

I don't remember if the Ron Simmons match was for the title or not. I looked at results and it looks like he made defenses against Jack Victory and Mike Rotunda at house shows.

Nice. Thanks for the link. I will be checking this stuff out. I also want to check out the Stetcher match from 1920.

His NWA reign was equally as underwhelming if you ask me. Kind of just disappears after winning the title and then loses it a few months later. I guess he had the Flair matches in the NWA.

The finish itself is perfectly fine. That match is really the first thing that comes to mind as the wrong guy going over and I think it's such an obviously bad booking choice that it does kind of hurt the match in hindsight for me.

That's actually the one I found and I was super pumped to watch it.

I'll throw one out. Kobashi/Akiyama from Departure 2004. Anazing match. Akiyama should have won. The guy had momentum and that was a potential star making moment and he lost. They struggled to ever build a star in NOAH and I think they were too deep into getting Kobashi that big run instead of going with the fans.

Side topic to George Steele but we were talking about wrestlers in Oscar nominated movies and he was really great as Tor Johnson in Ed Wood. It might be one of the best roles a wrestler ever played in a film.

I honestly don't get the love Jesse gets. He can be really good and I enjoy his commentary. But holy shit does that guy just fucking steamroll big moments by not shutting his fucking mouth. I just watched Sting winning the TV Title and Michael Hayes is pissed on commentary but he also does that well getting out of the way and giving Sting the moment.
