    Wonder Women Wrestling

Fun catching up on the world of women's wrestling in early 1987. Sorry to have missed so much. It was interesting to see Richter fall from grace for a short period of time but now she seems to be moving up again. Big wins over Misty and Debbie Combs in the last two weeks. I do like the violence and strength of Powers and Singh causing chaos week after week regardless if the get the win or not. Like how you keep rotating the stars into power.... Moretti, Richter and Medusa all get some time to shine. Like the idea of the Season Matches... creative.

    Windy City Pro Wrestling

Jailbreak was a really entertaining show with so many cool twist and turns. It reminded me of show from now with stars of the 80's! It started right away with the RPM's attacking the New Breed and went all the way through the Duggan shocker and his "match" against Idol. Really, really entertaining night in Joliet. I knew this was going to be wild as soon as Pedicino offered a refund.... I knew something was going to have to happen to change that. Nobody gives money back. Great stuff.

    Windy City Pro Wrestling

Trying to catch up here.... Let's go back to March 25th... Really enjoyed this card. Even though some of your big names are a little past their prime, they would sell the tickets and I see why you have everyone where they are on the card. Rocky going down to Landel with the help of Sherri just feels so perfect. Same as Idol getting help from Garvin to beat Gentlemen Adams. Like that we are seeing these factions develop. Big title win for the Rockers. This all has a nice underground Chicago feel that is going to grow into something bigger. Great show. Keep those posters coming. April 8th: HUGE CARD- Each match had a great backstory going on and was so interesting to read. Sherri, Idol and Landel take the belts from the Rockers. I think you are spot on here making these big names the big heel faction. Adams-Garvin, Race vs Abbie, Spivey vs Bad News.... WOW.... Time for Windy City to get some national attention.

    NWA

On to April 18th, Great Power Hour that continues to hype up the Crocket Cup.... Nice of Watts to send you some top teams... maybe the two of us can coexist....lol A huge tag team battle royal on TV to see which other NWA team goes to the cup... Great event that would have tv fans excited... Nice win by the Southern Boys I really enjoy your house shows each week and this week was no different. You do a great job of balancing the card but you always give us a match or two to sell the tickets. Manny vs Tully, Dream and the Road Warriors vs the Four Horsemen. Really great matches and you don't give away to much either with a lot of countout wins or manager interference. Awesome! On to April 23...WCW Wow... Flair out of the Horsemen with some great promos by Dillon and the rest. I like Arn daring Flair to come after Tully's title! This is going to be great. NWA Worldwide Like how the TV title will be defended each week on WCW and the challenger will come from the main event of Worldwide. Very creative! Looking forward to the Memorial Day show Some awesome matches on the last two shows. Really would have had the young people on the edge of their seats and had the adults getting a glimpse into the pecking order of the NWA

    NWA

Working on my way back to being an active participant in this game... so here we go... March 2, Winthrop Coliseum Really big angle here with the attack by Red Tide! Looking forward to following this one. Hansen on the attack... watch out NWA! NWA WORLD WIDE: March 2 Wow... Kansas Jayhawks vs the Stud Stable on TV... Love this Tag Division. Nice entrance with the guitar and everything. House Show Loop for last week of Feb-March 1 Great cards with my favorite being Albany, Georgia with Hansen following through with his threat to run over everyone and he starts with Bill Irwin. Also liked seeing round 2 of the Jayhawks over Stud Stable.... Hope there is more to come. Power Hour: March 4 Looking forward to the Crockett Cup Wow... Bass and Bart calling out the Road Warriors... this us an awesome match that I would love to see NWA World Wide: March 5th Wouldn't shock me if Iceman and Ritter with the Cup... love this team Awesome jobber team of Morgan and Drake... The Buccaneers So who is the man in the hockey mask... Always love these reveals! House Show loop for week of 3/6 Hansen means business with a clean win over Wahoo... WOW! Duggan over Ritter.... HUGE WIN! Renegades survive the Stud Stable and get a draw! Iceman gets a nice battle royal win to earn a U.S. title shot. Great booking as there is no shame in losing to Macho Man especially after already being worn out by the Battle Royal. Dusty vs Fuller... This alone would sell out any southern city! Power Hour: 3/11 WOW... The Zodiak and his misfits are must see TV Crockett Cup looks like it will be awesome with the teams announced so far. House Show loop for the week was again, very realistic... Dusty and Duggan vs The Horseman could sell out any building in the country. Also liked how Bart and Bass held their own vs the Road Warriors. Next time, I will pick up on March 18 Power Hour. Great stuff!

    AWA Major League Wrestling

The finish of April 8th... Lafon has found a nice home and gets some help from Charland and Frenchy with the win over Allen.... this group might be mid-card but they are going to get major heat. Very interesting... the original MNE is here. Adds some depth to an already stacked tag division. Even with Royal in his corner, Cooley better be careful calling out Dirty Dick Speaking of depth in the tag division... here comes Taylor and Zenk! Great pairing. Brown over Dream on TV and now he gets a title shot, Very hot angle. Rich is very confident here and did I hear a mention of Lawler? On to April 15 Nice to see that Slater and Cooley will be wrestling for a shot at Superclash. Angles that keep getting more serious are fun to follow. Dito that for Bullet and Fuller... Gagne and the Chosen Ones are just so hateable! Love how big this game has made El Jefe! Great follow-up storyline after Kirchner finished off Ustinov. I could just hear the boos as Brenda coos over Gama Singh.... As I said before... I think Buzz needs some help! Morgan + Sheepherders= Trouble Lightening Strike makes the save and Lafon can't come away with Bully's Belt... Keep an eye on this chaos!! Steamboat and Wildfire end the show with some spirited promos... both were great on the mic! On to April 18th and the Mid South Coliseum Like the idea of a tournament to get into a tournament Huge names and bouts all over this card! Slater wins the tourny... Great choice. SO believable in 87 Rich over Brown with a lot of extra craziness. Love it Steamboat over Colon with the DQ win but not sure it was worth it. Like Sawyer, Steamboat better keep some friends close. On to April 22... I wonder why Grizzly Boone was never bigger in real life. I am enjoying what you have done with him. Jumbo's Team wins the Crockett Cup and Larry Z and Perez seem jealous... very interesting Abbie and El Canek from Puerto Rico... Awesome footage I knew Buzz needed help... love the pairing of Maniac Matt Borne and Rip Oliver Nice job with the rest of the card hyping up WrestleRock! Outback Jack is coming... interesting with the Sheepherders and Morgan in the AWA... which way does he go? WOW WRESTLEROCK IS STACKED!!! Great catching up on what is going on in the AWA. Hope to be back real soon.

    AWA Major League Wrestling

Back again... Here we go with March 25 at the Hammond Center... Love how Mulligan keeps getting over on Wildfire... this time with a chair. Wonder if the belt will be next. Nice to see Morrow in action and he proves why Apolla was released! What does Gagne want with Blackwell? Flag Match on TV.... Awesome.... USA USA! Larry Z and Perez make a nice trip to the beauty shop... Could they win the Crockett Cup? Wow... I knew Putski was in trouble when he challenged Colon, just never thought it would be the Dragon making the save!! Great show. On to March 27 at the Roane Fieldhouse... 3 huge matches.... Ticket Sellers if you will. Dream Machine vs Slater... Bullet vs The Studd and Larry Z & Perez vs Bruise Brothers. Maybe Larry should worry more about just holding on to his belt instead of a tourny in the NWA. THe Bruise Brothers almost got him. Onto April 1... Great start to this show as we build off the ending of last with the return of the Dragon! This is going to be awesome! KIrchner is getting on a little run here! I had a feeling Gagne wanted Blackwell in his group. Liked Crusher's answer!! Wildfire" Rich/The Dream Machine and "The Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller w/Baby Doll vs Blackjack Mulligan/ Kerry Brown and "Bullet" Bob Armstrong- This is the type of TV match that would have had me all excited.... love when you throw all these wild angles into a 6 Man Tag Match On to the Dane Coliseum Gagne comes out to get even with Blackwell and Cooley is the beneficiary! Sheepherders help out Morgan in the Chain Match with Buzz.... Mad Dog is going to need some help. Like all the double fan favorite matches lately... Lightening Strike vs the Champs did not disappoint. Wildfire and Baby Doll keep surviving Mulligan but for how long? On to April 8th... Like how you are having an 8 man tourny to get into the 8 man tourny at WrestleRock... Will pick up here next time. Really great storylines and you develop each one with such great details. I have never really had the opportunity to read a months worth of work from you all in one day but it really shows how organized you are. Awesome job!

    AWA Major League Wrestling

Okay, a lot of catching up to do but no better place to start then with JJ taking over the AWA... very interesting. Just so you know where I am, I started back on March 4th... No matter what you do with Morrow, I enjoy it but I will admit that he has his work cut out for him here with a promise to get the Phils to the title. Tough loss here tonight to the Olympians. Nice to see Crusher Blackwell getting the fans going here on this card. Really like anything with the Dream Machine. Not sure why as I know little about him but he seems like such a great character.... add Brown and Kirby and I am hooked. An Armstrong vs a Fuller..... Please more. Sawyer vs Morgan... Very interested to see where this one goes.... Same as Wildfire vs Mulligan. Great ending to the show with Rich locked in the Claw! On to March 6 at Jackson... 3 big title matches.... Highlight for me would be Blackwell vs Bully Busick... just seems like a fun fan-favorite bout. Also, I really like the team of Larry Z and Al Perez. Seems like a good fit that has something for everyone. Onto March 11 Great way to keep the storyline going... you ended last week with Rich locked in the claw and then Wildfire starting the next show announcing what he was going to do to Mulligan at the Dunn Center. The Olympians keep getting tough TV matches and they keep coming out on top... really good push and well developed. Wow...I just said how much I like Larry Z and Perez as a team but now you got the Bruise Brothers coming after them... Who to root for.... might have to go ....hmmmm. can't pick. I will just have to let you keep entertaining me. Slater on the Beauty Shop would have been classic TV.... here comes Yoshi... Feud time.... Should be interesting. Gagne talking to Barr and Smiley about what they could do for each other...hmmmm.... wonder if he means what they can do for him. Another interesting storyline. I like how Iaukea announces that Colon will terrorize the AWA until they fond someone to match up against him On to March 13... the Dunn Center Sawyer over Morgan... will be interesting to see where this goes... The fans get to see Mulligan crush Wildfire again but he is still the champ.... end game of this will be wild I am sure. ON to March 18th ONce again the TV shows starts with an angry Tommy Rich... he better be careful... he keeps mouthing off and finding himself locked in the claw. Really looking forward to Superclash! Not a smart move by Putski as he calls out Colon for next week!!! Here come the Bruise Brothers... Nice win on TV vs Cabin Fever.... Champs Like Cooley as a heel. We have all used him primarily as a babyface but this new twist is interesting. Add in grumpy old Nelson Royal and we have magic on the mic! Nice pairing. Very interesting body shop with Morrow and the Phils... Lafon sold and Apolla fired. So what is next for Morrow? Who bought Lafon? Busick with a nice with on TV vs Brad R. Wonder who is next for Bully. ON to March 20... Big one by the Chosen Ones over the Olypmians. Maybe Gagne was right. I haven't said much, but nice job with El Canek. He is a fun addition to the AWA lineup Will be back soon to finish catching up on the AWA!

SUPERBLAST @ THE SUPERDOME March 15, 1987 RESULTS + FALL OUT Lex Luger & Tony Atlas vs Kevin Sullivan & Van Vader As might be expected, this opening brawl did not have a clean finish as Atlas and Luger get the win by DQ. The interesting thing about the DQ was that HE made his return to the UWF. He turned out to be Konga, one of the men suspected of helping to kidnap Vader for Kevin Sullivan last year. Konga came to the ring during this match, grabbed a chair and proceeded to the top rope and came off with a wild head-first leap with a chair to the throat of Tony Atlas. With Atlas down and out, Sullivan, Vader and Konga destroyed Lex Luger. After the match, the UWF sent young Eric Watts into the locker room to try and get an interview with Sullivan and his minions, but they all seemed to be in a state of euphoria and the only sound they could make was a maniacal laugh. On the TV show after the big event, we learned that Atlas was going to be okay in just a couple of weeks and Sullivan did admit that Konga was HE and that HE was instrumental in the transition from Leon White to Big Van Vader. Sullivan also promised to rid the UWF of Lex Luger. Lex was visible shaken by the events at Superblast and just left the TV show shaking his head. UWF TV Title Match: $10,000 to the Winner! 4 Corner Elimination Match Brad Armstrong © vs Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt vs Muta vs Steve Cox Muta was the first to be eliminated as the ref disqualified him after he nailed Steve Cox with the green mist. Eddie Gilbert eliminated Steve Cox next with the Hot Shot. Eddie Gilbert surprised everyone next as he took the house microphone and told the Brad Armstrong that he had no interest in wrestling his friend and that he would take the loss and give Brad the money and the title. Brad Armstrong wanted no part of this deal and told his buddy that he earned the match and he if wins the title, he deserves that too. The two shook hands and a very fast-paced, technical bout was under way. It looked like Eddie Gilbert was going to win but Armstrong blocked the Hot Shot and turned into a Russian Legsweep of his own where he got the 1…2…3. After the bout, the two once again shook hands. Eddie Gilbert raised Brad’s hand as he handed him the title. WHAM…. As Gilbert was handing Brad the briefcase with the $10,000 in it, he clobbered him. Brad was left on the floor as Gilbert and Missy Hyatt walked off with the TV title and the money. At the next tv show, Brad tried to confront Hot Stuff and get his title and money back, but Eddie and Missy had their proteges, Rick Steiner and Chris Benoit attack the TV champ. 6 Man Tag Team Match Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts *& Dr. Tom Prichard) vs The Rock n Roll Express & Mystery Partner One of the interesting thing here was waiting to find out who the partner of the Express would be and the this did not disappoint as it turned out to be none other than ½ of the Fab Ones, Steve Keirn. Last time the Fab Ones were in this part of the country, they were the top baby face team. Now combine the Express and Keirn and you get a huge pop! As for the match… just what you would expect. Great tag action, awesome double and triple team moves and pure craziness. The finish…. Time to make the fans happy…. A Triple Drop Kick on Michael Hayes during a moment of 6 men in the ring and the Express and Keirn leave to a huge ovation. Michael Hayes, as only he can do, vowed revenge on the next TV show! Lights Out- Non-Sanctioned Match Dick Murdoch vs Brusier Brody (If Murdoch wins, Ernie Ladd loses his managerial license for 6 months) You might have put this one in a bar as we got a BRAWL from the beginning. Since we have no rules, the violence and criminality are historic. Both men wore their crimson mask well as we head to a shocking finish. Ernie Ladd tosses a pair of brass knucks to Bruiser Brody after he had hit a big running knee smash on Murdoch. Brody puts the knocks on and drags Captain Redneck up by his hair. He is getting ready to put Murdoch’s lights out here! He winds up…. Stops…. Smiles to the fans. He takes off the brass knocks. Ladd is confused! The crowd stirs. Brody puts the knucks on Murdoch’s right hand. Murdoch is basically out on his feet. Brody raises Murdoch’s right hand and smacks himself lightly across the head. Brody falls like he was hit by a mac truck. Murdoch, now alert, smiles at Ladd while he covers Bruiser Brody! 1…2…3. Murdoch has won the match and Ladd is suspended for 6 months. Murdoch and Brody are laughing and hugging it out in the ring, and everyone know catches on. The screw job was preplanned! The question remains was Bill Watts in on it? That question was answered on the next TV show as Watts, Murdoch and Brody come out and explain that they had all seen enough of Ernie Ladd and his ways, so they set him up. Brody came to him with a plan to help him get over on Watts and Ladd bought it hook, line and sinker. During this interview, Ernie Ladd walked out…. And he was smiling. Watts demanded that he get out of the arena and reminds him of his 6-month suspension. Ernie Ladd: Hold your cheeseburgers fat stuff. You might be the President of the UWF and no matter how disgusting your actions were at Superblast. I understand that I have no managerial license for 6 months. But think back Watts…. I told you there are a of people who are like me and had your guts… A lot of people. Once of them happens to own this TV station… that’s right Ted Turner hates you. He knows you are a crook. He knows your ego is the side of you belly… Well, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag… The Big Cat if you will. I have been hired by the Superstation and Ted Turner to be the new partner of JIM ROSS! That’s right Watts… you may be the President of the UWF but as an announcer… YOU ARE FIRED! UWF TAG TITLE MATCH Demolition with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie © vs The Miracle Violence Committee (Terry Gordy & Dr. Death) This brawl is a war of attrition that finally comes to an end when Dr. Death hits the Oklahoma Stampede on Ax and Gordy was able to make the save with a big shoulder bump on Smash. For the first time tonight, we hear the announcement, “and the NEEEEWWWWW CHAMPIONS.” Interesting thing was on the next TV show, Demolition was nowhere to be found. UWF North American Title Match Coal Miner’s Glove Match Jake “The Snake” Roberts © vs Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie (If Roberts wins, Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie Must Leave the UWF) Let’s just get to the result of this instant classic… Ted Dibiase was able to get the Coal Miner’s Glove as Sheik got involved by holding Snake’s legs. Dibiase grabs Roberts by the back of his head and sizes him up for the big blow. Dibiase winds up….. miss…. Robert’s ducks under and then grabs the Million Dollar Man in a front face lock. The crowd erupts… Here comes the DDT! WHAM….Uppercut to the cut by Dibiase with the Coal Miners Glove…. What a way to reverse the best finisher in the UWF… Robers staggers back with the wind knocked out of him WHAM… Dibase with the Glove to Robert’s head and he is out. 1…2…3. And for the second time in the show, we here the announcement, “and the NEEEEWWWWW CHAMPION.” To the misery of the fans, the Sheik is still with us! UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Jerry Lawler Not the most exciting way to end this one but we get the 45-minute Broadway…. These two have some unfinished business. Sorry, everyone for my lack of productivity… Life is Kicking My Butt right now.

    AWA Major League Wrestling

Sorry to be late to the party here but Big Brawl was action packed and really well done with some huge payoffs to some big feuds. I am really enjoying what you are doing with Larry Z and like that him and Perez kept the belts. I always hated Larry as in real life as I found him boring but then when I had him, it was kind of fun. Hope you are enjoying him also. I really enjoy your work with some people I am not very familiar with. While Morrow didn't end up so well here, you have made him one of my favorites. El Canek was a big star as far as I can tell but I never heard of him until I had him on my roster in another game but what you have done with him reminds me of Tiger Mask in real life. A huge international star that the American fans are hooked on. WOW... Carlos Colon... what could be next? Team Jarrett? Love it! Does this mean Memphis becomes the Mecca of the AWA? Jerry Lawler better have someone taking his phone calls. Sawyer vs Rich.... this one is always fun and it is interesting to see everyone's take on it. Great card!! OH MY.... Wildfire vs Mulligan.... This is going to be awesome!

    UWF

SUPERBLAST @ THE SUPERDOME PREVIEW SHOW UWF WORLD TITLE MATCH Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Jerry Lawler This one is all about Jerry Lawler trying to prove that his loss the Hacksaw Butch Reed last year was a fluke. The King has been all over the place lately as he has interfered in many of Reed’s matches. Sometimes it is to attack Reed and other times, after he distracted Reed, he attacked his opponent. It is almost like Lawler has decided that he is the chosen one to take the title and he will not let anyone else get to Reed. These two have had some spirited interviews and a few brawls to hype up this big match. UWF TAG TITLE MATCH Demolition vs The Miracle Violence Committee (Terry Gordy & Dr. Death) Not much to say here… the two best teams in the UWF… hands down and it is time to see whose the best! UWF North American Title Match Coal Miner’s Glove Match Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs Ted Dibiase (If Roberts wins, Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie Must Leave the UWF) Really interesting lead-up to this one as Roberts has granted to a match to each of the Sheik’s men with the stipulation that if Robert’s defeats everyone, the Sheik must leave the UWF. After beating Hercules Ayala and both members of Demolition, Dibiase thought he was going to get this match last week. With Dibiase already in the ring, Roberts came out and told him to hold his horses as the stipulations where that he get a match with each member of Adnan’s Army. Dibiase explained that he was the last one standing to which Roberts replied, “The last time he checked, the leader of the army was also a MEMBER OF THE ARMY…. As the crowd exploded, Sheik Adnan had a look of terror on his face as he knew he was next up on the Snake’s list. The crowd got a great match as Jake pummeled Sheik Adnan from corner to corner before hitting the Sheik with the DDT. The next week, the Sheik and his Army got even with an attack of Roberts with the finish coming when Ted Dibiase pulled on that black glove of his and clobbered The Snake. Later the Snake demanded that his title match add the stipulation of the Coal Miner’s Glove on a Pole to get even for the black glove. This is going to be a huge bout. Title on the line… Sheik’s time in UWF on the line. Something has to give! UWF TV Title Match: $10,000 to the Winner! Brad Armstrong vs Eddie Gilbert vs Muta vs Steve Cox This was the first match announced for the big event except that we did not know who Armstrong would be facing. That was decided with 3 Four Corner Matches over the last for weeks where the winner of each one, got a spot in the title match. Gilbert was going to give his spot away to either of his young, Hot Stuff Members, Rick Steiner or Chris Benoit to protect his new formed friendship with Brad Armstrong. Brad asked him to reconsider as it would be an honor to wrestler him in such an historic event. Tojo Yamamota has warned everyone that Muta will come away with the belt and has even hyped up the match by having himself and Muta attack Armstrong and Gilbert during a recent TV show. This lead to a series of house show matched between Brad, Eddie and Rising Sun. (Muta & Kendo). The long shot in this match is the newcomer, Steve Cox. Cox is being trained by Dr. Death and has a world of strength and potential. The key here being potential as many question if he is ready for the spotlight. Lights Out- Non-Sanctioned Match Dick Murdoch vs Brusier Brody (If Murdoch wins, Ernie Ladd looses his managerial license for 6 months) Bill Watts really had Bruiser and Ernie Ladd in a tough spot as he refused to give Brody a wrestling license in the UWF as Brody said that he only worked for Ladd and not the UWF. This all changed one night in the parking lot as two masked men who were obviously Ladd and Brody attacked Cowboy Bill Watts. Dick Murdoch came to the rescue and saved Watts from even more damage. Murdoch convinced Watts to let him get an ounce of revenge by facing Brody at Superblast! Watts agreed but only with the stipulation that Ladd will loss his managerial license for 6 months in Brody doesn’t win. 6 Man Tag Team Match The Freebirds vs The Rock n Roll Express & A Mystery Man The big question here is who is the 3rd Freebird? The Freebirds and Rock n Roll Express had been feuding for most of the last 6 weeks with the Express getting the better of Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts. That is until a masked man appeared one night as the ref has been “accidently” knocked out of the ring. The masked man came flying off the top rope with some sort of slapjack and nailed Mortin in the back of the head. By the time the ref recovered, the Freebirds controlled the ring and got the win. The next week on TV, The Freebirds, including the masked man, came out to the interview area where Michael Hayes reminded people that back in January when they got rid of that useless Jimmy Garvin, that he said that while the Freebirds are better as a trio, people didn’t need to apply as he and Buddy Jack would find the perfect partner and that is exactly what they did. The masked man slowly untied his mask revealing himself to be none other then the Dr. of Desire… Tom Prichard. Prichard and the Freebirds had another few issues with the Rock n Roll Express before Morton and Gibson challenged the Freebirds to a 6-Man Tag Match at Superblast. When asked who their partner was, they kept it a secret. This led the Freebirds to believe that nobody would dare step in the ring with them and the Express was all alone. Only time will tell. Lex Luger & Tony Atlas vs Kevin Sullivan & Van Vader One day while Sullivan was managing Van Vader, he was attacked by newcomer, Lex Luger. Luger beat Sullivan all over the arena. Vader came to Sullivan’s rescue and even the mighty Luger couldn’t handle these two. Give Luger some credit as he figured what would happen after he attacked Sullivan so he had his bodybuilding buddy ready and waiting in the back…. The crowd really popped as Mr. USA Tony Atlas hit the floor and the two musclebound favorites beat Sullivan and his protégé all the way back to the locker room. Sullivan could be hear yelling at Vader that this would never have happened if he was as maniacal and nasty as he needed to be…. This never would have happened if HE was here. UWF fans later found out that Luger had been out of action for a while due to an attack orchestrated by Sullivan where Sullivan hit Luger with a fireball back in the NWA. Luger and Atlas vowed to get rid of Sullivan’s Army once and for all.
