I really enjoyed your tv show. To me the territory system days where the best in wrestling. Each promotion had their roster of 15-20 "stars" and each one seemed so important. This is exactly how I feel when I read WSW and I love it. You, just as Championhship Wrestling from Florida did back in the day, have made Tyree Pride a star and this is what makes it so great. In today's world, Tyree Pride would have no spot in the sport. Looking forward to the Labor Day event. The battle royal and all the big matches will be huge for you and the NWA. Each time you tell us about the crowd calling Embry a crybaby, I get a vivd picture in my mind about this. Very well done! As for the big event at the Sports Arena, I like that you added a Taped Fist Match. This gets fans ready for the Labor Day show. Throw in the Bunkhouse Match and you give us a true WSW feel. Also, I give you credit for keeping Kendall strong as we head into the big event. One Man Gang has been such a monster and you found away to keep it all moving forward. Nice job.

Good set of house shows that continue to push WSW towards the big Labor Day event. Chicky cost Jimmy Jack Funk a match but then Funk gets revenge later in the card, This is an awesome feud and you have done a nice job pushing this one. Same thing goes for The Brotherhood vs Sullivan's goons. One side gets the win and just a little later it gets evened out! Really keeps us guessing as to which way the big one will turn out. Tyree is really becoming a thorn in the side of Whatley and Slick! If Kernodle broke Sullivan's neck, he would be the most popluar man in wrestling

I must say that it doesn't take you long to get everyone on your roster in the right spot! Nice set of house shows with the highlight for me being Tommy Rich telling Bob that he is going to beat him the same way as his son and then send him out of CCW while Bob and Brad are beating the other Rich cousins on the other loop!

    Mid-South Wrestling

AUGUST 21, 1986 THE CAJUNDOME: LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA (ON LOCAL AFFIATES IN THE MID-SOUTH TERRITORY) (The show begins with footage from the last week’s show in Houston, Texas where Hacksaw Butch Reed survived the North American Title Tournament to become the new champion and Michael Hayes hit his tag team partner, Buddy Roberts by accident in their Street Fight against the NWA World Champions which allowed Dibiase and Dr. Death to survive their title defense. We also see Black Bart clobber Bruiser Brody and Bad News Allen attack Rocky Johnson in the aisles of the Sam Houston Coliseum. Then we go to the regular opening montage set to techno music and showing all the big stars of Mid-South Wrestling and finally we go to the set with your host, Jim Ross.) Ross: "Hello and welcome once again to Power Pro Wrestling, sanctioned by Mid-South Wrestling, a member of the National Wrestling Alliance. What a show we had this past Friday in Houston, Texas. Hacksaw Butch Reed is your new North American Champion, and he will be joining us in just a few minutes. Ivan Koloff will be in action taking on the “Cajun” Joey Jackson. The Patriots (DJ Peterson & Todd Champion) will be taking on Hollywood John Tatum and “Gorgeous” Gary Young. Bruiser Brody takes on “No Class” Donny Bass. Rocky Johnson squares off against “Rotten” Ron Starr and in the main event, it will be U.S. Steel vs Jake “The Snake” Roberts and the winner will get the first shot at Hacksaw Butch Reed and the North American Title in two weeks in Baton Rouge. First, let’s bring on Butch Reed and that North American title! Jim Ross: Congratulations Butch. What a great accomplishment for you winning the North American Title. That makes you the top man in Mid-South and just one step below Nikita Koloff and the NWA World Title! Hacksaw Butch Reed: Thank you Jim. It is an honor to win this belt and I promise to be a fighting champion. I would also like to thank Harley Race who came out to the ring just in time before that lowlife, Jos Leduc clobbered me in the head with that briefcase full of cash. Jim Ross: You said a mouthful there Hacksaw. In fact, this week in the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans it will be you and Harley Race taking on Leduc and Jake “the Snake.” Reed: I can’t wait. Every time I get a chance to get in the ring with any of Akbar’s men and take care of business, I’m all for it and I know Harley feels the same way. He’s been having trouble with Leduc for about a year now and it will be great to return the favor this week in New Orleans. Akbar…. I dare you to put your nose in that ring this Friday and try any of your nonsense. It might be the last thing you do. Jim Ross: There you have it folks, the new North American Champion. Reed: One more thing before I go. Terry Gordy… it was a real class act this past week in Houston … you coming out and presenting me with the title and all. It meant a lot to me, and I promise you, when ever you are ready to get back in that ring… you will get a title shot… Now, I won’t go easy on you, and I know you’ll do the same and we’ll give these folks one heck of a show. Thanks again brother. COMMERCIALS + PROMOS FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA-NEW ORLEANS MATCH: The Russian Bear Ivan Koloff, joined at ringside by the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, “the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Koloff, defeats Cajun Joey Jackson by submission with the bearhug Post-match Interview Ivan Koloff: Jim Ross… I demand Bill Watts come out here right now. It is another example of you Americans trying to cheat us just because of our Russian superiority. I was not given chance to be in the North American Title Tournament and Nikita and myself are undefeated as a tag team, but have never once been given a NWA Tag team title shot. I sit back watch the Freebirds get a title shot. They have not even wrestled together in months, but you give them shot. Bill Watts comes out to the interview area… Bill Watts: Ivan… you had your chance to get into the North American Title Tournament but lost to Bruiser Brody in your qualifying match. Ivan Koloff: Stop your American double talk. This is professional wrestling. Bruiser Brody is a Wildman who wouldn’t know a wrestling move, how you say it, from a bicycle. He did not use one wrestling move in our match. It was like fighting a gorilla. Bill Watts: You seem to make a lot of excuses but leave out the fact that you have been running around the NWA hitting people with a chain during your matches. Ivan Koloff: More American double talk. Each time you no like my comment you change the topic. Now do Nikita and myself get a NWA World title shot. Bill Watts: If you would be quiet for half a second Ivan, you would have already heard that this week in New Orleans it will be you and Nikita vs Dibiase and Dr. Death. Ivan Koloff: For once Bill Watts, you make the right move. You must not be feeling well tonight. Imagine how well you will feel next week, when Nikita and I go home to Mother Russia with both your World Titles! Bill Watts: Don’t thank me yet… there is one stipulation… If you lose the match in New Orleans by pin or submission, whoever got the pin or submission will get a shot at Nikita’s World title the following week in Baton Rouge! I wonder how it will feel if you Ivan, cost Nikita here, the NWA World title! Jim Ross: Wow… big news for the fans in Baton Rouge. That event already has Butch Reed defending his North American Title but now there will also be a World Title Match! After the Russians walk away Bill Watts has another announcement, this time for the fans in New Orleans. Bill Watts: Last week our show ended with Ernie Ladd opening his mouth and saying that Rocky Johnson will never get a Mid-South Title shot against Bad News Allen. I would just like to say two things… first of all… Ernie Ladd is not and never will be the matchmaker here in Mid-South Wrestling. Secondly, since Rocky Johnson is the last person to beat Bad News Allen in the ring and after last week, when Allen attacked Rocky Johnson before his match in the North American Title Tournament, Rocky Johnson definitely deserves a title shot and that will occur this week in New Orleans. Ernie Ladd rushes out to confront Bill Watts, but Watts will not even to listen to Ladd complaining about how it is not right to give a title shot to a man who knows nothing about wrestling and whose best move is to stand in the middle of the ring and punch his opponent time after time. Watts reminded Ladd he called him a Big Dummy last week and maybe if he wants something around here, he should show a little respect. COMMERCIALS + PROMOS FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA-NEW ORLEANS MATCH: The Patriots (Peterson & Champion) defeat “Hollywood” John Tatum & “Gorgeous” Gary Young when Tatum, who had the advantage toyed with the crowd for too long and got caught with a second rope shoulder block by Peterson for the pinfall. In their post-match interview, Jim Ross reminds the fans just how close the Patriots have come to defeating the Masked Superstars and winning the Mid-South Tag Team Titles but this week in New Orleans, they will be in singles competition against the champs and in order to earn another title shot, they are going to each have to win their matches. The Patriots are confident in their singles matches and also that they will win the Mid-South titles if they are given another shot. They also warn Sheik Adnan Al Kassie not to get involved in any way! COMMERCIALS + PROMOS FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA-NEW ORLEANS MATCH: Bruiser Brody absolutely mauls “No Class” Donny Bass with the finish coming with a big knee lift Post-Match Interview: (Brody doesn’t give Jim Ross a word as he rips the microphone out of his hands) Bruiser Brody: BLACK BART…. YOU THINK YOU CAN HIT ME IN THE HEAD WITH A BRANDING IRON AND COST ME THE NORTH AMERICAN TITLE….LISTEN UP BLACK BART…. THIS WEEK IN NEW ORLEANS… IT”S GOING TO BE WORSE THAN LAST TIME FOR YOU. YOU ARE GOING TO BE SORRY THAT YOU EVER PUT YOUR NAME ON THE DOTTED LINE! Brody storms off and leaves Jim Ross standing there stammering over his words as Brody’s anger has him off his game. Next to the podium is Carl Fergie. Jim Ross: Carl… I’m unsure what this is all about, but I was told you have an announcement for us. Carl Fergie: Jim… I am out here to first announce to Sheik Adnan Al Kassie that I am sorry for letting you down. I promised you that I would take care of Hacksaw Butch Reed for you and I failed miserable. I realized that I am not in the same league as Hacksaw Butch Reed. I also realized that with my personality, if I cannot be the best, I need to find a new job. Therefore, I am announcing my retirement from pro wrestling. I am not saying that you will not see me in Mid-South Wrestling again, but it will not be as a wrestler. Also, Sheik Adnan…. We need to talk. Jim Ross: Carl… if you are no longer a wrestler, what would Sheik Adnan Al Kassie need with you? Carl Fergie: Jim… with all due respect, I do not interfere with your personal life. Please do not interfere with mine. As Fergie walks off, Jim Ross has no idea what to make of Fergie’s interview. Next to the podium is Terry Gordy who is escorted to the interview area by a staff member… Jim Ross: Well, this is truly a pleasure. Terry Gordy. It is great to see you back in Mid-South Wrestling and as Butch Reed told us earlier, it was great to see you last week in Houston. So, every time a fan comes up to me, they ask, how is Terry Gordy doing? Terry Gordy: Jim, I aint going to lie to you… this is the toughest thing I have ever gone through in my life. I still don’t have my vision but I’m starting to see some shadows and the pain is getting less and less. The crowd begins to stir… Jim Ross: Now wait just a minute…. Michael Hayes… what are you doing here. Michael Hayes: Jim… what’re you doing! You ruined my surprise. I wanted to come out and see my old pal. Don’t you remember, Terry and I go way back. Terry Gordy: Michael Hayes… we might go way back but we aint pals no more. While Gordy is talking, Hayes is in his face waving his hands and taunting Gordy as he is testing to see if Gordy can really see or not. Gordy makes no move at all as it is obvious, he still has no vision. WHAM…Michael Hayes smacks Gordy across the face and Gordy staggers back as Hayes is on the attack. Jim Ross: Come on now.. this is uncalled for. Michael Hayes you should be ashamed of yourself. Terry can’t even defend himself. HUGE POP! Dr. Death rushes out and is after Hayes but somehow, he escapes. Dr. Death goes over to help Gordy to his feet. Gordy and Dr. Death again start yelling about revenge on Hayes. Gordy goes so far as to demand a match with Hayes this week in New Orleans in a Blindfold Match which we find out later, the NWA refused to sanctioning but it will take place in a Lights Out Match. COMMERCIALS + PROMOS FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA-NEW ORLEANS MATCH: Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson defeats “Rotten” Ron Starr with the Soul Man Shuffle and Boston Crab In a quick post-match interview, Johnson hypes up his Mid-South Title Match with Bad News Allen and reminds everyone that the last time he faced Allen, he got the victory. After Rocky left the interview area, Black Bart comes out with an interview full a danggummitts and tobacco juice as he lefts everyone know that Black Bart can come out here and yell all he wants to but it isn’t going to intimidate him one bit and he is ready for Brody this week in New Orleans. COMMERCIALS + PROMOS FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA-NEW ORLEANS MAIN EVENT: WINNER GETS A NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH IN BATON ROUGE Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeats U.S. Steel with a DDT after the Masked Superstars got involved. The Patriots rushed the ring but it was too late to change the outcome of the match, but we do get a post-match brawl where the fan favorites end the show in control of the ring. Bill Watts: Fans, we are out of time. Remember, if you are anywhere near New Orleans this Friday night, head on down to the Lakefront Arena. It is going to be one heck of a night of Mid-South Wrestling. So long from the Pelican State. LAKE FRONT ARENA Norvel Austin vs “Hollywood” John Tatum Crusher Blackwell vs Ken Timbs (If both Patriots win their matches, they earn another Mid-South Tag Team Title Match Patriot DJ Peterson vs Masked Superstar #1 with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie Patriot Todd Champion vs Masked Superstar #2 with Sheki Adnan Al Kassie GRUDGE MATCH Harley Race & Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Jake “The Snake” Roberts & Jos Leduc/ Sheik Adnan Al Kassie NWA Mid-South Title Match Bad News Allen © with Ernie Ladd vs Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH (If the Russians lose, who ever got the win for the champs, gets an NWA World Title Shot) Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death Steve Williams vs Ivan & Nikita Koloff Lights Out-Blindfold Match Terry Gordy vs Michael Hayes

Awesome night of wrestling in Huntsville Great use of this big show to hype up what's been going on during the TV show. Will be interesting to see whay becomes of RPG yelling at Mr. Perfect Nice of Wildfire to take off the mask after Bob Armstrong paid his $100,000 fine. Mrs. Armstrong must be really mad now. Very interesting Semi-main event. I had my eye on Landel but the babyfaces + Dream all seemed to be on the same side and came out on top! Doc and Dibiase are one tough team!

SAM HOUSTON COLISEUM: HOUSTON, TEXAS August 20, 1986 Partially Shown on Superstation 17 North American Title Tournament FIRST RD: Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeats Harley Race with a DDT following Jos Leduc rushing the ring when the ref was down, and he clobbered Race in the head with the briefcase full on money. Bruiser Brody defeats Black Bart in a physical contest that saw Brody connect with the mauling knee lift for the three-count. An angry Bart managed to get up and follow Brody up the aisle where he proceeded to beat Brody with his branding iron. Brody was busted up real bad! Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated Bob Rope with the top rope football tackle in a match that saw a little of everything as Roop is definitely the better technician even though he is on the wrong side of the law more often than not. “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong defeated “Soul Man” Rocky Johnson with the overhead back suplex. What happened here was that Bad News Allen attacked Rocky on his way to the ring and roughed him up pretty badly. Soul Man was never ever to fully recover but gave a good effort but could not handle the dirty tactics and power of the Mighty Yankee. NORTH AMERICAN TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS Jake “The Snake” Roberts wins in a No Contest as the doctor on site would not clear Bruiser Brody to wrestle after Black Bart’s attack. Word is that Brody was so mad that he went straight for the heel locker room and tore it to pieces in search of Bart who left in a hurry after he was warned by the Mighty Yankee that Brody was on his way. Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated the “Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong with a Military Press Slam in a match that was full of power moves. Jim Ross says that this is the best that he has ever seen Reed look as that he would not be surprised to see him walk out of here with the North American Title. NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: STREET FIGHT Ted Dibiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams © defeated the Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts) as Michael Hayes accidently hit Buddy Roberts with the same loaded purse that Hayes used last week on Dr. Death. Roberts was holding Williams but just as Hayes was about to hit Williams, Dr. Death broke free. Williams scooped up Hayes for the Oklahoma Stampede and then covered Roberts for the win. NORTH AMERICAN TITLE TOURNAMENT FINALS Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie with the short arm clothesline followed by a spear as Roberts was distracted from some chaos on the outside of the ring. It looked like Leduc was coming to the ring again with the briefcase in hand, but Harley Race prevented another attacked by the Lumberjack. The two went at it pretty good out on the floor and when Roberts looked out at the brawl, it was the beginning of the end. In a touching moment, Terry Gordy, bandaged eyes and all, was escorted to the ring by Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death and the trio presented Hacksaw Butch Reed with the North American Title! Gordy grabbed the house mic and said that if he couldn’t be the champ anymore, he couldn’t think of a more deserving person to wear the North American Title. Gordy promised the fans that he was making progress and that he would be back soon enough to get some revenge on Michael Hayes.

I really enjoyed the TV show this week as it really pushed your Labor Day Spectacular... OMG in a 3-1 bout as he stacks them on top of each other continues to build his monster character. Dusek and the announcement of the Brass Knucks Championship and the Loser Leave Town Death Match gives the event such a Western Satates feel.... AWESOME! Perez continues to do his job of winning over the fans and now he is looking for a TV title show... He could make a great champ Dev. Inc is looking strong. Great job developing two good heel stables. CRYBABY! Love Embry getting some heat. The Funks and Slater are a group not to be messed with... Look at Zaibatsu! SPORTS ARENA SHOW I like how you continue to give all the fans a good show but not give away to much on your tv angles. This slow play seems like a smart move with a smaller roster. You have everyone in the right place. Can't wait to see you add in the Brass Knucks Title as the fans will have built in blood every week which seems about right for West Texas.

    AWA Major League Wrestling

Great opening segment with the World Tag Titles on the line... The Beast are truly Monsters as Adias says. Hope Hennig didn't bite off more than he can chew. Wahoo vs Bock- Title shot on the line... All good with me. Colon on the attack in Japan... Awesome... gives off that idea that the AWA is a World power. Also nice touch with the fans running from Tiger Jeet as he swings the sword. You always add in those little touches that make it even better. Speaking of little touches, I think you do a great job of capturing Ken Resnick. Putski the Younger is here but he seems to have gotten in the way of Vin Man and his new family.... Vin Man better be careful. He still has some enemies around the AWA Battle Royals are always fun but when you add that the winner gets a title shot, it is even better. Get ready Austin Idol. Olympians vs Soviet Stell... great 80's midcard feud. This one makes the money! Iceman is coming... looking forward to seeing what you do with him. Snuka on with Brenda was great. All I kept thinking about was when Snuka went on Piper's Pit in real life and the coconuts were smashing and the set was destroyed. RNR Express-Fab Ones... It doesn't get any better than this. They could wrestle every night for 6 months and people would still watch. In this game, we have seen Bob Backlund become a great heel and now Greg Gagne has followed the path to the dark side. To me, in real life, these two were BOORING. In Dawn of War, they are great! Nice job to you and the WWF.

Great use of your entire roster. The "A" group headed over to Mississippi this week and put on an awesome event. I am on Bullet's side that the original Intern was Wildfire Rich but only time will tell. Love the two ring King of the Hill bout that really pushes Magnum up the ladder and on the road to a title shot. Alabama fans got their $$$ worth this week. Surf's Up is a cool name and works well here. Davey Rich sells tickets as people want him to take a beating becasue of his cousin. Just as the name Rich sells tickets, so does Armstrong. Nice try for Steve here but Bass and the experience (Miss Betsy) won out tonight.

AUGUST 14, 1986 BARTON COLISEUM: LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS (ON LOCAL AFFIATES IN THE MID-SOUTH TERRITORY) SHORT VERSION DUE TO FAMILY VACATION (The show begins with footage from the last week’s show in Jackson, Mississippi, where Michael Hayes hit Dr. Death with some sort of loaded purse. Ernie Ladd hit Rocky Johnson with the Big Boot. Bruiser Brody landed a mauling knee lift on Ivan Koloff and one of the Masked Superstars had DJ Peterson locked in a cobra clutch. What a show we had this past Friday in Jackson, Mississippi. As you saw in the video, Michael Hayes once again took a shortcut in his match and hit Dr. Death” Steve Williams with some sort of loaded purse. While this did cost the Freebirds the match, it seems like we have gotten to the point that something has to be done with Michael Hayes. This is when the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Dibiase and Dr. Death come out. Dr. Death: You just said a mouthful Jim Ross. Something needs to be done about Michael Hayes and until Terry Gordy can return to action and take care of that blonde haired weasel himself, I am going to make it my job. Now, you all just saw Michael Hayes reach under the ring and pull out a purse and hit me over the head with it. The real question isn’t what was in that purse as we all know it was a brick. The real question is why is someone who talks about partying with all these beautiful woman down on Bad Street carrying a purse to begin with. I think Michael Hayes with all that long hair is the only woman at those parties. Now, this week in Houston, Ted and I are going to challenge the Freebirds to a Street Fight… Come as You Want… Bring what you want…. NWA World Tag Team Title on the line! Ted Dibiase: Michael Hayes… you hear Doc… come as you want. If that means wearing a dress and carrying a purse, that is fine with us. Just understand one thing. We are coming to the ring wearing our NWA World Titles and we will be leaving with them. Jim Ross: There you have it folks. This week in Houston, we will not only see the 8 Man Tournament to crown a new North American Champion but we will also have a Street Fight Match for the NWA World Tag Team Title between Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death vs The Freebirds. Speaking of the North American Title Match… the last two entrants are Rocky Johnson and Bruiser Brody. OUT COMES ERNIE LADD Ernie Ladd: This is absolute nonsense. This is Big Dummy Watts making up the rules as he goes. Bad News Allen gets disqualified last week in Jackson because his incompetent referee said I interfered in the match. Jim Ross: Are you denying that you kicked Rocky Johnson? Ernie Ladd: Are you denying that Rocky Johnson hit Bad News Allen with 3 back to back closed fists punches and nothing was done for these infractions? A pause by Ross… Ernie Ladd: So even you see the hypocrisy. The good news is that the Watt’s cheating scandal did not occur during a title match. A match that Rocky Johnson will never get! As Ladd storms off, Jim Ross is grateful that Ernie Ladd doesn’t make the matches around here and that if Rocky Johnson is deserving of a title match, Cowboy Bill Watts will make sure that he gets it. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR HOUSTON, TEXAS The rest of the show was used to hype of the tournament this Friday in Houston with some interviews from those involved. They all were very confident in their chances, but we did not see any wild brawls between the entrants. As for matches, we saw wins by the Alaskan Hunters and Patriots in tag team action. We also saw Rusty Brooks come out and get his first win with the Discus Punch. In his post-match interview, he explained that being from Denton, Texas, the VonErichs helped to get him into this sport and that he tries to model his in-ring techniques after both Kerry and Kevin. He seems to have won over the crowd with this news even though his body looks nothing like Kevin or Kerry. U.S. Steel also had a nice win over the Russian Assassin, Alexis Smirnoff and Jimmy Garvin defeated Jos Leduc in the Main Event when Sheik Adnan clobbered Garvin with the briefcase full of money. Garvin and Precious got even when Precious came up from behind the Sheik and clobbered him with the loaded purse. Interesting thing here was the NWA World Tag Champs were out during this match discussing their Street Fight with the Freebirds this week in Houston and had some comments that might or might not mean something in coming weeks. First, when the Sheik used the briefcase full of money on Garvin, Dibiase said it might be time to take that briefcase off Sheik’s hands and when Precious hit the Sheik with the loaded purse, Dr. Death seemed to think the purse looked just like the one Michael Hayes hit him in the head with last week in Jackson, Mississippi. So long from the land of opportunity! THIS WEEK IN THE SAM HOUSTON COLISEUM ONE NIGHT TOURNAMENT TO CROWN NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION (FIRST ROUND MATCHES) Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Harley Race Bruiser Brody vs Black Bart Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Bob Roop “Soul Man” Rocky Johnson vs “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE STREET FIGHT MATCH Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death (c) Vs The Freebirds (Hayes & Roberts)

Big win for the Wild Bunch. Highlight of the loop for me was Embry throwing a fit and the crowd calling him crybaby. I have seen some of his stuff from World Class and his fits were awesome TV. MISSISSIPPI FAIRGROUNDS COLISIEUM: JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI August 13, 1986 Partially Shown on Superstation 17 Ricky Santana, who comes out waving the Cuban flag, defeats Mike Graham after using an illegal weapon he had in his trunks. U.S. Steel defeats The Cuban Assassin with a Bearhug Splash. Ricky Santana rushed out to try and interfere, but it was too late. U.S. Steel dared Santana to come in the ring but he thought better of it. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin defeated Rusty Brooks with the Brainbuster. Interesting thing here was that Rusty Brooks, announced from Denton, Texas, home of the VonErichs, connected with a Discus Punch on Garvin then sent him wheeling and then he tried to lock in the claw, but Garvin was too close to the ropes. What the fans and Garvin thought was going to be an easy win was anything but! Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeated Crusher Blackwell with the DDT after Sheik surprised Blackwell by putting Jake’s snake in his face. Blackwell turned away and walked right into the DDT. Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated the Mighty Yankee Billy Jack Strong with a top rope shoulder block. Give the Mighty Yankee his due as he gave Reed all he could handle in a match full of power move after power move. To everyone’s surprise, The Mighty Yankee was followed to the ring but that man wearing a NY Yankees Mask. Did the Mighty Yankee just pay someone off to wear the mask and make people think it wasn’t him or is there really two Yankees running around Mid-South Wrestling. Anyway, this Yankee in the Mask did try to get involved once when the ref had been knocked down, but he was met with a Military Press Slam by Reed. MID-SOUTH TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The Masked Superstars © with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeated the Patriots (DJ Peterson & Todd Champion) when the Masked Superstars used the old switch-a-roo and a fresh Superstar #1 caught Peterson in a cobra clutch. North American Title Tournament Spot on the Line Rocky Johnson defeated Bad News Allen with Ernie Ladd by DQ as Ernie Ladd hit Johnson with the Big Boot after Johnson had laid out Allen with the Soul Man Shuffle (3 Punch Combo) and then had him locked in the Boston Crab. North American Title Tournament Spot on the Line Bruiser Brody defeated Ivan Koloff when he ducked under Koloff’s attempt to hammer him with a right hand wrapped in a chain. Brody then came off the rope and connected with a mauling knee lift and Brody stole victory from the grasp of defeat. NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The Freebirds defeated Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death by count out as the action spilled out of the ring with all four men in a total brawl. Michael Hayes reached under the ring and pulled out what looked like a woman’s purse and hit Dr. Death with it. Dr. Death went down like he was hit with a sledgehammer, and he was not able to get back in the ring.

Wesrern State4s keeps on rolling... First fir the TV show... Awesome interview for Tojo. He says alot of nasty things but Dusek has some great points and I'm looking forward to see if Slater can get the title from Jumbo. Good job by Watts hyping up the Labor Day Show. Whatley continues to have a really nice title reigh. He is a great upper mod-card heel for you. ON TO THE SPORTS ARENA. Terry Funk vs Killer Tim Brooks might be the best opener in Dawn of War. This card gets better and better. Abbie vs Dutch (with a great ending) is 2nd match from the top material and it is again so early in your card. You have done great things with your roster and WSW is booming! Great Tag Team match to earn a title shot... Dr. Death and Dibiase, if they are still champs, will have their hands full with Karachi Vice OMG with the win over Dory keeps his monster status growing. Also nice job in keeping Dory strong as he wrestled earlier in the card and now had a "reason" for losing to OMG. Fans are always upset when the babyfaces lose a chance at the title on a DQ or count-out and I'm sure this was the case with the Fort Bragg Brotherhood but now we get a Boot Camp Match and all is forgiven. WOW... OMG win the win and now he gets Nikita. This will be a fun one! Great week at the Sports Arena.

    AWA Major League Wrestling

Sorry for falling behind here... First for the TV show.. Interesting to see George Wells go after the Brusie Brothers after his relationship with Cash. Bruise Brothers-Priceless is one of my favorite angles in the game. Renick coughing after El Jefe and the cigar smoke is one of those little details you add to make it all more vivid. Nice creative writing. El Jefe is a great Dawn of War character. Nice chaotic win by Ferris to earn the shot at Great Gagne. I'm sure Gagne will figure some dirty tactic to find a way to put down Earthquake. I my opinion, Ox Baker makes everything better... including the big match between Steamboat and Billy Jack. Billy Jack with his style and power makes a great heel. Nice use of him here. I struggled to figure out what to do with him. Charland-Ron Garvin makes a nice Canadian feud! If Garvin comes out on top, he might be ready to roll. \ Larry Z always tends to find some big help to do his dirty work ... not sure he will ever find someone bigger than Haystacks . Everytime I see that picutre of EL Canek, I think it is Hogan under a mask and wonder if I missed a trade. Nice use of the Beauty shop as we hype up one of the greatest feuds in all of wrestling in the 1980's Awesome segment with Tiger Jeet not willing to pay any more money to put down Colon. This feud is for all the marbles. Can't wait to see which way you go? Great main event with Snuka and Dream. Snuka has one hard head!! ON TO THE ELIIS AUD NIce set of opening matches that see some feuds progess but for me the card reall got going when Ox had a serious conversation with Beast of Burden. This would scare the crap out of me! Wells gets the first laugh vs the Bruise Brothers but it might not be the last. Nice touch when they decided not to waste the champagne. Great main event with Lawler covering Dundee for the win. The chaos after the match sets everything up nicely for the next TV show. There are going to be a lot of fired up people looking for some revenge.

Luscious is the perfect opener to get this crowd going. Liked how the 4 Corner Match became a triple threat match. The team of Zenk and Taylor make for a great babyface team. WOW... what a win for Johnny Rich. I bet there might be another Intern running around somewhere. What an ending to the First Blood Match. I thought T.A. was going to take another loss as his head had probably not healed from last week. Landel comes out to help the babyfaces but that ending in the main event makes me wonder.

Awesome TV show this week. Dark Journey's stable gets better and better. I like the little slip by Oliver calling the Intern, Tommy Rich. What an announcement by Watts... A Russian Chain/I Quit Match. Awesome use of the history of real life + Dawn of War. Nikita gets his historica way and T.A. gets his bout from the Tully Blanchard match. Bob going after any Rich right now is hot. Hope he gets Johnny in the Boutwell but have a feeling something might get in his way. GREAT JOB WITH POFFO... you gave him that Adrian Street feel but added even more. From the whispers in the ear of his opponents to the Painacle to never mentioning Jimmy Gar again. Really well done. Big words from Dusty... this feud is going to be awesome. I think we might need another campaign to get rid of Buddy.... He Can't be trusted!

Sorry for falling a bit behind here. First for the house show loops... The last two matches of that Alabama loop were awesome. That tag team challenge bout that left T.A. in the center of the ring and bloody set up the Main Event perfectly as it allowed Bass to get the win and allowed T.A. to have a reason for losing. Great booking. These are things I often overlook when writing my shows. Mississippi- Dark Journey is getting quite a stable and Oliver is the perfect addition

Really fun show and I thought you did a nice job of capturing the SMW feel especially with all the venues in the upcoming road show. Nice deut for Savio Vega. I think that the Von Erich story is very interesting. In our game, Mike was basically put out of wrestling by some illness and Lance was proven not to be a VonErich at all. This was all in Texas All-Star Wrestling which for the most part was a small promotion without a major cable channel as it was on KTVT in Dallas. So this story line would never have traveled to SMW where it is also a smaller promotion and in an area of the U.S. that would have been almost completely void of cable tv anyway at this time. This makes the VonErich name still huge, whether babyfaces or heels, in Eastern TN, Western KY area. I also like that Fritz is up to his old trick right away by making his boy and "nephew" the #1 contenders even though the have only wrestled one match in SMW. Very nice job with a lot of directions you could go in. Nice Main Event and looking forward to Summer Blast

    Mid-South Wrestling

CIVIC CENTER: MONROE, LOUISIANA: AUGUST 7, 1986 (The show begins with footage from the last week’s show in Shreveport as Dr. Death laid out Michael Hayes in their Stretcher Match and Butch Reed put a beating on Sheik Adnan Al Kassie. What a show we had this past Friday in Shreveport. As you saw in the video, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams got some revenge for the injured Terry Gordy and Hacksaw Butch Reed did get his 5 minutes alone with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie… and I think he enjoyed that very much! Before we get to the action tonight, I need to bring in NWA President Bill Watts with a very special announcement. Watts: Thanks Jim. Unfortunately, I am here with some bad news. The Great American Bash took place in Pensacola on July 4th. Today is just over a month from that great event. Due to his eye injury suffered at the hands of Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy has not been able to defend his North American Title since the Bash. By NWA rules, Terry Gordy must forfeit his title as it was not defended every 30 days. The fans begin to boo. Watts: I agree fans. Trust me, this is not what I want at all. What I will say is that the North American Title will be given to the winner of a one-night. 8-man tournament that will take place less than two weeks from today on August 20th in the Sam Houston Coliseum down in Houston. I will be back a little later to let you know who those 8 wrestlers will be along with another special announcement. The crowd begins to boo again as Michael Hayes comes out. He is still battered and bruised from his bout with Dr. Death. Hayes is complaining that he was the last #1 contender to the North American Title and therefore should be granted the title. This sets Watts off who says that after all that he did, he is lucky that he has not been suspended for life! Watts quickly rehashes the blinding of Gordy and the attack at the hospital before he informs Michael Hayes that not only won’t he be awarded the North American title, but he will also not be allowed to even participate in the tournament in Houston. Michael Hayes begins to complain as the crowd explodes as Dr. Death comes out! Michael Hayes acts like he has seen a ghost as he wants nothing to do with Dr. Death after the beating, he received just a few days ago. WHAM…. From behind Steve Wiliams is attacked from behind by the Rebel. After a few kicks and punches, the Rebel rips off his mask to reveal that he is none other than Freebird Buddy Roberts. Ted Dibiase rushes out to save his tag team partner and Hayes and Roberts decide discretion is the better part of valor and heads for the locker room. Dibiase and Dr. Death head over to Jim Ross and are screaming about how they want the Freebirds this week in Jackson and how they don’t care if they have to put their world titles on the line to get that match signed. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Jim Ross: Well, what a wild beginning to this week’s show! Fans, I want to let you know that during the break, Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts came back out and here is what they had to say. Michael Hayes: Oh, the band is back in town… I’ve been saying for quite some time now that Once a Freebird… Always a Freebird. Brother Buddy here put on that mask and has been walking around here calling himself The Rebel just to watch my back. He told me… Michael… Terry Gordy got exactly what he deserved but there’s going to be some people who don’t see it that way and when they come after you… I’ll be there to walk down Bad Street with you and well drop them off at that last house on the block all battered and bruised like we did back in the day. Now, God has again shined down on me. Not only do the Freebirds get to go back to knocking heads, now in Jackson, Mississippi, we get to walk out the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Buddy Roberts: Sometimes the fans are with the Freebirds and sometimes they are against the Freebirds. That proves that we do things our way… and at our time. The time was right tonight. Michael Hayes has done more for me than any other person in this sport and tonight it was time to help pay him back! Now Dibiase and Williams, I know you are back there right now wondering what you’ve done. Wondering why you woke the sleeping giant. You got in the middle of Freebird Business. This was between Michael and Terry. Now your big noses are going to cost you those Tag Team Titles. Back live… Jim Ross: Well, there you have it folks. I never would have thought just ten minutes ago that we would have an NWA World Title this week between the champs and the Freebirds but that seems to be how it is going here in Mid-South Wrestling. Expected the unexpected. Now on today’s show, the Might Yankee will be in action taking on “Cajun” Joey Jackson from right here in Church’s Point, Louisiana. Ricky Santana will be making his debut, but he has a tough bout as he will be facing U.S. Steel. Ivan Koloff will be taking on Norvel Austin. Rocky Johnson will be stepping up in competition this week as he battles “Gorgeous” Gary Young and in the Main Event, it will be the Patriots (Peterson & Champion) vs The Red Assassins (Cuban Assassin & Alexis Smirnoff) and the winner will get a shot at the Masked Superstars and their Mid-South Tag Team Titles this week in Jackson. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong defeats “Cajun” Joey Jackson with the Swinging Neckbreaker. The problem was that he refused to release the hold and really poured on the pressure even after this local, southern youngster submitted. Butch Reed rushed out and went after the Mighty Yankee who slipped away. As Butch Reed went over to the interview desk, he was fuming at the Mighty Yankee. He is sick and tired of the Masked Yankee doing the dirty work for people like Ernie Ladd and Sheik Adnan Al Kassie. He claims to know that it was Billy Jack Strong under that N.Y Yankees mask attacking people before their bouts against Bad News Allen and Jake Roberts. He also knows that Billy Jack kept that hold on for so long tonight just because Joey Jackson is from Louisiana. He dares the Mighty Yankee to try that stuff against him! As Reed storms off, Jim Ross wonders when people are going to learn to stop unsetting Hacksaw Butch Reed because it is usually them who pays for it in the long run. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI MATCH: Ivan Koloff defeats Norvel Austin with the Bearhug after Austin had hurt hi back by being whipped into the steel ring post. At the post-match interview: Ivan Koloff: In just two weeks… the Russian dominance over you weak Americans will be complete as I will be the North American Champion and Nephew Nikita will still be the NWA World Champion. Jim Ross: How do you know you are even in the tournament in Houston to crown the new North American Title. Ivan Koloff: How do I know… It is here that Bill Watts comes back to the interview area. Bill Watts: I think it is time that I do announce who will be competing in that North American Tournament. There are currently 6 people in. They are Harley Race, Hacksaw Butch Reed, Jake Roberts, Black Bart, Bob Roop and “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong. This sets off Ivan Koloff who once again claims that he is left out because of cheating American bureaucracy. Watts explains that he is not in the tournament yet because he doesn’t wrestle full time in Mid-South Wrestling but because of his long-time success in this sport he will be given the chance to be in the tournament if he wins his match this week in Jackson. Ivan is not thrilled with this answer because he feels that he is being slighted by not being on the tournament already but claims that it will be easy because no American could beat him. Ivan’s confidence changes quickly when Watts says that his opponent this week is none other than Bruiser Brody! Ivan begins to fume and is shouting about American double standards as he storms off. Next in to complain is Ernie Ladd and Bad News Allen. Ernie Ladd: Watts, I’ve been calling you a Big Dummy for years but now you done gone and proved it. How you can hold a fair tournament in Mid-South Wrestling and leave the Mid-South Champion out of it. Just because you and I don’t see eye to eye, you go and completely show yourself to be the biased, cheating lowlife that you are. Watts: Are you done…. As Ladd begins to talk… Watts: I agree with you… Ladd’s eyes almost popped out of his head in disbelief. Watts: Bad News Allen does deserve a shot to be in this tournament, but Rocky Johnson came to me this week… Ernie Ladd: Rocky Johnson… Are you kidding me… that Uncle Tom came to you and now my main is not in the Tournament? Watts: Not exactly. Rocky came to me and reminded me that you said Bad News Allen could beat him every day of the week and twice on Sunday! Rocky, who is undefeated here in Mid-South Wrestling says that he would like the chance to show Ernie Ladd just what this “Uncle Tom” could do. I agreed and was all set to give him a Mid-South Title shot in Jackson, but he asked if the match could be for a spot in the North American Tournament and I agreed. So now all you have to Bad News is beat the man your manager said would not be a problem for you and you do not even need to put you title on the line. Bad News Allen: (Not upset at all) For once Watts, I agree with you. Rocky Johnson has not and will never deserve a title shot but if I get a chance to beat him all over the ring anyway, it’s a Win-Win for me and Bad News for Uncle Tom Johnson. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Match Ricky Santana vs U.S. Steel This bout starts with a handshake but that is about all that is friendly. Santana shows his true colors with a low blow about two minutes into the match and this allowed the much smaller wrestler to carry the momentum for a little while. When U.S. Steel recovered enough, he put his size and power to good use and tossed Santana all around the ring. WHAM… from behind, the Red Assassins hit the ring and attack U.S.Steel. WHAM…. The brawl is on as the Patriots hit the ring. Bill Watts is back out and demands this nonsense stops now or else The Red Assassins and The Patriots will not wrestle tonight to determine who gets the Mid-South Title Shot and that all 6 men will face suspensions! This threat goes a long way and cooler heads prevail… for now.! Jim Ross is joined by Sheik Adnan Al Kassie and his army of Jake “The Sanke” Roberts, the Masked Superstars and Jos Leduc. The first thing that happens is Jim Ross takes a huge leap backwards as Jake Roberts has an actual giant snake wrapped around his neck. When Ross asks what this is all about the Sheik told to that he would give Jake a reward if he took care of Harley Race a few weeks and here is that gift… Damien! The Sheik goes on to announce that in just two weeks, Jake and Damien will have a new gift to carry around… the NWA North American Title! Next, the Sheik goes on to promise everyone that it doesn’t matter who wins the main event tonight as neither the Red Assassins or the Patriots have any chance of taking the Mid-South Tag Team belts from the Superstars this week in Jackson. Lastly, when asked if Sheik has been able to find that perfectly wrestler his is looking to give the million dollars to, the Sheik smiles and speaks in code as he says, “Sometimes when you lose, you really win.” Ross is left pondering that one as we head to commercial break. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Match: Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson beats “Gorgeous” Gary Young by submission with the Soul Man Shuffle followed by the Boston Crab A quick interview shows Johnson is ready for Bad News Allen this week in Jackson and he is going to show Ladd just what this Uncle Tom can do in the ring. We head right back to the ring for the Main Event MATCH: Winner Gets A Mid-South Tag Team Title Shot in Jackson The Patriots defeat The Red Assassins when DJ Peterson caught the Cuban Assassin with a top rope shoulder block for the pin. This all came during a moment of chaos as Todd Champion was trapped in the heel corner when Ricky Santana came out. Even though he did not get involved, it brought U.S. Steel out and the two continued their fight from earlier. The distraction allowed Champion to make the hot tag to Peterson who cam in like a house a fire. We go all 4 men in the ring for a minute or two. The Patriots end up getting the advantage here and whip the Red Assassins into each other where the knock heads. This allowed Peterson to hit the finisher and earn the Mid-South Tag Team Title shot in Jackson. Jim Ross: What an hours its been folks. Wild from start to finish. Don’t forget fans near Jackson, Mississippi, get your tickets for this Friday night. It is going to be a great show. (Ross runs down the matches for that event) So long from the Pelican State. JACKSON STATE FAIRGROUNDS COLISEUM Ricky Santana vs Mike Graham U.S. Steel vs Cuban Assassin Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Crusher Blackwell Grudge Match Hacksaw Butch Reed vs “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong Mid-South Tag Team Title Match The Masked Superstars with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs The Patriots (Peterson & Champion) Winner Earns A Spot in the North American Title Tournament Next Week in Houston Bruiser Brody vs “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff Winner Earns A Spot in the North American Title Tournament Next Week in Houston Bad News Allen with Ernie Ladd vs Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson NWA World Tag Team Title Match Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death Steve Williams vs The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes & Roberts)

    Wonder Women Wrestling

Medusa is playing with fire as she keeps putting her stablemates down. This has been a realistically developed angle as you are taking your time with it but I bet it blows up really fast when it all goes wrong! Moretti has taken a step back from when she first came on the scene but I bet she gets her mojo back and when she does, it will be great entertainment.
