[2017-02-12-WCPW-True Destiny] Alberto El Patron vs Kurt Angle
ShittyLittleBoots posted a topic in February 2017
What is 2017??? So much crazy shit happening in the world of the graps, such as Kurt Angle having a great match! I didn't have any expectations coming into this, I am not a fan of Angle, and Alberto can be a hit-or-miss, but here the man was a clear hit. He was so awesome, the match was mostly centered around him working over Angle in very heelish fashion, and it was very enjoyable. Angle basically worked it from underneath, busting out his greatest hits, so his performance was enjoyable as well - definitely very different from your usual Kurt Angle big match, which is a BIG positive. Thumbs up big time for this one. ****-

[2012-12-24-WWE-Raw] John Cena vs Alberto Del Rio (Miracle on 34th Street Fight)
GOTNW posted a topic in December 2012
A master class in overreacting and siliness. Even if it isn't a match that manages to maintain its charm so successfully nn rewatches I'm not sure there's a pro wrestling match that better encapsulates the idea of a wrestling match intertwined with Christmas themes. The match itself is structured like a cartoon fight, and you can see the transitions coming, although the novelty of the ridiculousness should overwhelm that on your first watch. I'm leaning towards including it even if it didn't completely live to my very fond memories of it-but then again all jokes lose their charm after repetition.-

Another very good in their feud, the two of three falls structure works perfectly to give more freshness to the matchup, since this was the 4th match in two months. Alberto goes quickly to the arm of Kalisto and attacks it with viciousness. He really nails the acting of an abusive heel, he manhandles him, and tries to rip his mask off. The champion, however, proves to be quicker and gets ahead with all his rapid movements, giving good use to his mexican heritage and pulling some neat spots off. Alberto, now being in danger, makes the best move he could make, steals a page from Rick Rude's book and disqualifies himself, with the purpose of further damaging Kalisto. This allows him to easily win the second fall. The third fall is also very good, every move has cool little details, Kalisto hope spots were great and the ending was creative and makes total sense regarding the narrative of the match and the fall (Kalisto tried that quick pin earlier). Really good stuff.

From WWE.com: STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE has suspended Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy. http://www.wwe.com/article/alberto-del-rio-suspended With the rumors of heat between him and Triple H, his general unhappiness, and the out clause he supposedly has in September, this is all very interesting timing. I wonder why the suspension is beginning tomorrow. That's new, isn't it?

The angle with Rusev taking out Sin Cara while he was watching the match backstage was brilliant, weird to see them step out of their comfort zone so much with the parejas increibles tag, this and Ambrose's clockwork orange house of fun announcement. Another good performance by Kalisto who's had a killer year so far but Del Rio was completely off here, both messing up stuff and doing nothing interest in control for long periods of time. The angle surrounding the match and Kalisto's selling and bumping salvaged it as much as it was possible. **1/2

After so many good TV matches I'm regreting ranking AJ Styles as high as I did on my GWE list a lot less. This was another *** match, what really stood out was AJ's amazing bumping, it's not that he'll overbump, he'll just take moves in ways that make them look as possibly dangerous as possible. He had an all time great Backstabber sell and just threw himself on Del Rio's Baseball Slide, I also loved the way he got out of the tree of woe. Styles' apron knee is a thing of beauty. Match had a lovely flash pin finish as well.

I remember these two having a really good match on Smackdown just before Del Rio was fired. This one probably wasn't as good as that one but it was still very fun, Del Rio looked pretty motivated here, throwing lots of good looking kicks, busting out a cool double stomp off the apron and doing a great job of selling Reigns' headbutts. I love the way they modified the set up to Reigns' Apron Dropkick, I usually dislike the spot but here it looked both violent and natural. This was a good Raw for three star TV matches.

[2016-04-11-WWE-Raw] Roman Reigns & Bray Wyatt vs Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio
GOTNW posted a topic in April 2016
Del Rio does the corner punches which are a face spot because he's too old and rich to care. Sheamus too with his apron blows. Lots of solid brawling but not really worked in a way that made me care. Wyatt was an unexpectedly awesome hot tag and him pointing to Reigns' spear made for a cool GIF. Barely above average.-
