http://mirc.sc.edu/islandora/object/usc%3A14563 Really dig this. Feels like a BJJ exhibition match in that they're clearly feeding themselves into each other's moves, but there's still a pretty shooty feel to everything. Lots of really cool grappling on display here, including a banana split attempt towards the end of the file. Also interesting hearing the violinist during this as I had assumed before having live music during matches was just a new gimmick thought up by indy promotions in recent years. A bit hard to tell these guys apart, to the point that I'm not sure if George won in 2 straight falls and video is out of order or if it's 2/3 falls with a missing finish. Still enjoyed it a lot regardless.

[1998-01-09-CMLL] Blue Panther & Fishman vs Atlantis & Lizmark
Jetlag posted a topic in January 1998
Really fun little match with everyone hitting the mat. It's always fun to see Fishman with his working boots on and Atlantis having something to work with. The Panther/Lizmark sections were especially wonderful and it's pure crazy that these two never had a singles match. Nifty finish. It's hard to think CMLL didn't have the best TV in 1998.-

[2016-01-09-WWE-Montgomery, AL] Big E. & Xavier Woods vs Jimmy & Jey Uso
donsem43 posted a topic in January 2016
I actually liked this more than Brock/Sheamus from the night before. It's a paint-by-the-numbers "Southern" tag but everything was really smoothly done. Enjoyed Xavier being in the match rather than Kofi because it allow for some really nicely timed interference spots. Maybe it was this smooth because they've done the same match on a dozen other house shows but it all really came together here. -

Oh, Tiger, you and your goofy rapier. Tiger ambushes Inoki and pummels him in the face with the butt of his rapier like a goof. Inoki bleeds immediately and Singh goes to town on him throwing chairs in his face and drinking his blood like a vampire. Jeet Singh may be not as intense a brawler as the Sangre Chicanas and Perro Aguayos of this world, but he does the same things they would do: punching and kicking a bloody Inoki in the head, dumping row of chairs on him, etc. Inoki makes comeback by nailing Singh with a random bottle and then throwing punches. You don't think of Inoki as Jerry Lawler but he throws awesome punches and there are some cool exhausted exchanges from their knees here. Both guys were also grimacing to the max, with Inoki's blood painted face being a distorted mask of wrath. They spill to the outside and the double countout ensues but they keep going at it. This was not on the level of your classic bloodbaths due to being a little long and slow but it may be my favourite Inoki/Singh match so far because it gets straight to the point and the action is what you want all the way.

This is Chihiro's second defense of the Sendai Girls title and also a rematch of one of her first big singles matches that happened a year to this day. I loved how Aja worked the early part of this match. She always seemed to have a smart little counter to everything that Chihiro would try. Story-wise, this match tells the vet/rookie matchup a lot better than Chihiro's title win over Meiko Satomura. You get the feeling that if this was prime Aja, she would have chewed up Chihiro and spit her out. But at the same time, when Chihiro goes on her big run, you can see Aja relying on her wits and experience to survive. A smart, well crafted match. ****1/4

[2016-01-09-Pro Wrestling WAVE] Misaki Ohata & Ryo Mizunami vs Kaho Kobayashi & Rina Yamashita
donsem43 posted a topic in January 2016
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKg1SEuZZ2I&feature=youtu.be Match starts at 1:18:38 A great vets vs. rookies tag match. Avid Rival spend most of the match beating their younger opponents which allows them to show off their cool offense. The rookies due manage to work in enough comebacks to stay a realistic threat for the win, especially with Kobayashi making every rollup come off as a nearfall. They do go a little too long as they work a draw but Ohata and Mizunami end up killing Kobayashi a bit too much before the bell. Overall, a really strong tag match with everyone playing their roles well. ****-
