  1. Only 24 hours after his war with the Briscoes in FIP, Necro has another brutal match featuring one of the biggest bumps of 2007. This was an IWA-MS joint show so Necro comes in to take on the toughest craziest dude in the fed. The first half of this is really good, it's a brawl with chairs and ladders etc. but it starts with solid body slams and both guys understood how to work their control segments (by punishing the other guy with awkwardly thrown ladders, chairs etc), tease spots etc. Masada is one of the better outcomes of tape watching indy wrestlers, he is a metalhead looking dude with a shirt and shorts who does exploders big boots and enzuigiris, which in combination with the garbage brawling I like better than hairless kickpadded dudes doing that. Plenty of fun, there is one truely savage punch exchange, suicide dive against the stone bar, aswell as a beer bottle coming into play and Necro defending himself by pulling guard and using a wrist snap etc. I thought they got a little too into the plunder spots in the 2nd half while neglecting the substance, altough both guys just take one massive nasty bump after another.
  2. This is a pretty nutty street fight spectacle at Shin-Kiba 1st RING. The MASADA here is the American CZW death match guy from Texas, not the Japanese Tokyo Gurentai MAZADA who teamed with NOSAWA Rongai. They mostly brawl in the crowd here hitting each other with some nasty chair shots with metal and plastic unfold-able chairs. However, this revolves around a car they enter into the arena. The car gets totally wrecked ala Street Fight II bonus stage car. Kamui plays tribute to Matsunaga and he runs over MASADA like Matsunaga ran over Zandig in that BJW death match from 2000. MASADA then wrecks the windshield of the car throwing bricks at Kamui and then they totally wreck the car by hitting some of the craziest spots I've ever seen -- powebombs, swanton bombs, brainbusters, death valley drivers, etc. Just utter craziness. Worth watching if you're a fan of death matches, otherwise this is not something you will enjoy.
  3. I'm not a huge fan of either guy, but I thought this was pretty fun. MASADA has a bummed wrapped up knee and Steen sees this and exploits it and MASADA does a good job of selling it. Steen is a douche bag heel and mocks fans starting a Go Fund Me website of sorts to cover medical expenses for all of MASADA's injuries. MASADA's known for his hardcore work, so he pops out some skewers and sticks them in Steens head to counter Steen's momentum, however the damage he had already taken was too much and Steen finishes him off with a poorly executed Sharpshooter (which was my biggest complaint of this match). Fun match.
  4. Masada is the future MAZADA, which is kind of mind boggling when you look at him. So, the guy who these days mostly plays a scummy rudo and stooges for Mil Mascaras and other aging juniors once upon a time was a thick amateur wrestler and Fujinami's project. And this was a pretty fucking awesome rookie vs. Vet match. Part of that is that you watch a match like this with no expectations, and everytime something awesome happens it's unexpected, but this was genuinely really good. Because it's MUGA they stick to grappling, and it's a really nice mix of amateur style and pro wrestling holds. Fukuda is the real deal here leading an inexperienced guy to a bonafide mini-epic. At some points you can tell Masada didn't have the instincts down, but overall he gets to look great. Masada has really nice amateur movements and enthusiasm, and they build from the matwork and submissions into awesome suplexes, choice counters and nearfalls. Fukuda allows the kid to look good while reminding everyone he is the boss, his suplex moves, STO and stiff shots looked badass. Great Fukuda performance, the guy was a treasure.
