Ludvig Borga: Formidable japanese big match worker is not something you hear about, but it's likely true. It helps he's facing Hashimoto. This is pro style so not as great as their different style fight, but Halme is a fun powerhouse who throws a lot of nice punches that Hashimoto sells in a big way. Hashimoto challenging Halme to a boxing fight and then headbutt him is classic Hashimoto. Really enjoyed Hashimoto destroying the big guy as usual and the finish was something Daisuke Ikeda would do.

Usuda vs. Indy junior continues to produce the goodness. This was worked exactly as it should be – Usuda being the far superior shooter who would dominate on the ground and Fujita as the gutsy flyer who'd use quickness and determination to survive. Fujita can get aggressive and Usuda is a great counterwrestler to work with that aggressiveness. The middle portion of this match where both work the mat and refuse to go for ropebreaks while coming up with counters was solid gold. Highlihts include Usuda locking in an ultra tight Chickenwing Crossface which seemed to almost pop Fujita's shoulder, a pissed off Fujita raining headbutts from mount (and receiving a receipt in kind later on), Usuda countering Fujita's finisher etc. Fujita eats some huge blows in the standup section while finding believable ways to come back. This was largely excellent, logical junior vs. Shooter action which is only brought down slightly by 2-3 blown/weak looking spots.

[1992-05-01-NJPW-Explosion Tour] Masashi Aoyagi vs Shiro Koshinaka
Jetlag posted a topic in May 1992
This actually got **** from Meltzer. This had the kind of bell to bell action you expect from a Meltzer approved match, as there's no feeling out process, it opens with Aoyagi landing a huge punch to the sternum and then pretty much just putting a major ass stomping on Koshinaka. Koshinaka when challenged can bring the asskicking when it counts and he does here, he is probably the only guy who can make a butt attack feel violent, and really dug his desperation sweeping lariats, dropkicks etc. a lot. Match was a lot like Lawler/Mantell as both guys just exchange back and forth and it builds into guys trading punches on their knees, trading punches while standing, one guy throwing punches from his knees and the other kicking him in the face etc. There is some fun stuff built around Koshinaka trying submissions and Aoyagi finding violent ways to fight out of them, and the match has really good pacing. I thought Koshinaka seemed to be no selling Aoyagi a little, but Aoyagi's selling was strong. I'm not sure how much part he played in it but the neck dumping suplexes were spectacular aswell. Great match, Aoyagi rules so much at this kind of nasty streetfight.-

This was apparently Gotch's first match in Japan, seeing rare footage of prime Gotch is such a treat, we get lots of nifty matwork as you'd expect. Gotch's German Suplex here is as picture perfect as it gets and I believe was used as a sample when the move was animated for Fire Pro and some other games. Though it is nice to see how much of Gotch's knowledge was preserved in the traditional New Japan style this still had some things that were lost to time, like Gotch's brilliant counter to Yoshimura's attempt of countering Gotch's indian deathlock with a sleeper (2:30), countering a counter attempt to a Hammerlock I'm not even going to try to explain etc.
