[1998-07-27-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin & The Undertaker vs New Age Outlaws

Recommended Posts

Last few minutes. Undertaker is face in peril and makes the hot tag to Austin. Austin gets a stunner on Road Dogg and pins him to retain the tag titles. Billy Gunn eats a chokeslam from Undertaker post-match. Austin tosses Undertaker a beer, which is the closest thing he can ever give to an apology, and Undertaker gets a huge pop for chugging the beer. But Kane and Mankind attack Austin from behind. Undertaker comes to the rescue and that's a wrap.

The beer moment was cool and JR put it over well on commentary. Again, I don't want to feel like Im railing on these guys but this shows how insignificant the NAO really were as this would be touted as them carrying the tag division and they get jobbed out pretty good here against the make shift team even though it is two major stars.

We don't get it in full but I have to wonder just how believable it was for UT to work FIP against the Outlaws. Austin almost singlehandedly puts them away once he gets the hot tag. He offers UT a Steveweiser afterward and Undertaker accepts, and all seems to be well. Austin gets nailed from behind just as I'm wondering why there wasn't a Kane and Mankind run-in.

Watched it in full. Super fun! Way better than expected. Great Austin clothesline. Outlaws work a compelling heat segment on the freaking Undertaker!!! Will wonders ever cease? Short go home but a Stunner is always appetizing. *** Love this megastar main events!
