thebrainfollower2 Posted February 7, 2021 Report Share Posted February 7, 2021 Wanted to offer a counter view of the Flair-Tito match, which I absolutely despise. Yes it's fine technically although Flair is a bit off for understandable reasons. But Flair does himself no favors here. Tito Santana a guy who hasn't beaten a name opponent in over a year (and that was Akeem) and we last saw getting beat by the Mountie in 2 minutes, goes 16 minutes with Flair here and easily gets 3/4 of the match and offense. If I saw this as an 11 year old kid I'd come away from it (and Gorilla's commentary really drives this home) that Flair was a wimp and a fraud who Hogan would destroy in about 2 minutes flat if that. Flair looks like the weakest name heel in the company after this and that continues (along with Gorilla treating him like garbage which I don't think had anything to do with Bobby and everything to do with a WWF loyalist) right up until Royal Rumble 92 where Flair puts out a GOAT performance that even Gorilla acknowledges. But by then any idea of Hogan-Flair at Mania was gone, Flair was just another guy who'd have about 3 months total as WWF champ and be gone by early 93.
