Loss Report post Posted November 4, 2014 Hogan back in his old gimmick really makes WCW feel like a company that pressed the reset button back to the early days of Nitro. It was a return to his original gimmick that in theory would give him a shot in the arm, but in reality made him feel even more stale right away. With the slow build, I thought they did a good job of making this match feel big and important. In fact, I think a match this inoffensive at Starrcade ’97 would have made everyone happy. Tim Evans Report post Posted May 31, 2015 This was ok but not as good as the earlier matches in the year. Sting was working for two men as Hogan seemed off. The finish was some bullshit though. Goldberg doing Hogan taunts was something else.
soup23 Report post Posted January 20, 2016 I guess Hogan and Sting took a backseat to KISS tonight per their contract. Match was another shockingly good match on this run of Hogan. I liked that they opened it up with a brawl and the finish was really heated with the missed leg drop and Stinger splash variations. The run ins of course happen and Hogan and Goldberg being pals never doesn't look odd but Hogan promises Sting he will give him another shot at the belt. **1/
PeteF3 Report post Posted October 5, 2017 Pretty good match with good heat, but it's the kind of match that would have been a sensation in 1995 but feels far more tired in '99. Speaking of 1995, a bunch of mediocre heels run in on the main event. For no justifiable reason other than they couldn't come up with an actual finish. I didn't expect a pinfall here, but come on. Superstar Sleeze Report post Posted June 7, 2020 Surprised ya’ll liked this I thought this was a horrible Hogan match. He had a knee brace on his left leg and was visibly hobbling the whole match. He almost fell twice on his comeback. Hogan is usually a ball of energy even as late as early 99 against Flair. Did he have knee surgery? Crow Sting fucking sucked. He was pretty useless in this match. Sid & Rick Steiner as your top 2 heels is the clear problem. DDP needs to get pushed harder and you turn at least one of the top 4 babyfaces and you can’t do Hogan or Goldberg. I guess you might as well do Sting but Sting sucked so much during this time period.
