Gordon Solie: Hello everyone and welcome to Championship Wrestling from Florida. I'm Gordon Solie alongside me is Buddy Colt.

Buddy Colt: Today fans is a big day as we kick off the hunt for the Florida Heavyweight title. 10 big names will be involved in that one.

Gordon: Absolutely! Today's show will feature the opening round of that title tournament. I'll be talking with Eddie Graham in just a bit to get today's match ups as well as discuss his ideas for crowning United States tag team champions.

Buddy Colt: a big day on Championship Wrestling '83. Don't go anywhere cause we'll be back!

Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now bring out Eddie Graham to discuss the big Florida title tournament.

Gordon Solie: Eddie what can the fans expect as far as matches go for the Florida title tournament today?

Eddie Graham: well earlier today I put all the names into a computer and got five random matches. We'll see Dusty Rhodes once again in a bit of great justice will face Bob Roop, Roddy Piper will face Johnny Weaver, Kevin Sullivan faces Brian Blair, Curt Hennig will face Angelo Mosca and in the opener Manny Fernandez will face the challenge of Mark Lewin.

Gordon: wow talk about an awesome show any way you slice it. What is the latest also on the situation with the US Tag Team Titles?

Eddie: well Gordon I am going to put together six teams to have ourselves a tournament in the near future. Right now I wanna see the Florida Heavyweight title be won by the new champion whoever that might be.

Gordon: I've been hearing rumors that the mad man from Sudan Abdullah The Butcher will be coming to Florida very soon

Eddie: I will put those rumors to rest right here and now. Abdullah is indeed on his way here on the 22nd for a match at the Bayfront Center in St Petersburg.

Gordon: I'm told we have a video to show you highlighting Abdullah so let's go to that VTR Segment now

Manny Fernandez vs Mark Lewin

Manny Fernandez waits for Lewin as he paces in the ring

Mark Lewin along with Kevin Sullivan make their way to ringside

Beginning: Lewin and Fernandez just beat the hell out of each other in this wild opening match

Middle: Lewin takes control of the match as the experienced mat veteran schools young Fernandez.

End: Lewin hits his package piledriver on Manny Fernandez. He covers him for the win to advance in the tournament @ 6:27

we see suddenly the light flicker a bit on and off. Lewin grabs a no. 2 pencil and begins to carve up the forehead of his latest victim as John Carpenter's Halloween theme plays.

all of a sudden Johnny Weaver runs down and tries to stop Lewin

Mark Lewin and Kevin Sullivan are too much though for Weaver as they are all over him

Dusty Rhodes and Brian Blair run out to help Johnny Weaver to the locker rooms for medical attention. Sullivan and Lewin come over to the desk to talk to Gordon.

Kevin: hahahaha Gordon I love the month of October. You see Halloween is really the best time of year!

Gordon: you sir are certainly a most disturbing individual. Why did you have to hurt that young man?

Kevin: Fernandez was just a mere pawn in getting that old man Weaver out here. You see Purple Haze and myself knew the big hero couldn't resist coming to the aid of Manny.

Kevin: The Chairman is not really happy with that washed up loser Johnny Weaver anyway.

Gordon: When can we see The Chairman? Does he really exist at all?

Kevin: He does indeed exist. Mr Solie you and the rest of these people will find out who he is in due time hahahaha.

Gordon: we'll be back in just a minute.

Gordon: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Right now Curt Hennig will face Angelo Mosca in our next match.

Curt Hennig vs Angelo Mosca

Hurts So Good blares as Curt Hennig comes out as the fans scream for him. He is hugged on and kissed by a few female fans as he gets to the ring.

Buddy Colt: young Curt Hennig something of a ladies man here today. The girls seem to love him.

Gordon Solie: well he is certainly an excellent competitor.

Angelo Mosca makes his way down to the ring eventually as the fans boo him.

Gordon: Well clearly these fans heard him last week with his not too kind parting shot in that video about Curt Hennig.

Beginning: Mosca tries to play dirty but Curt is having none of that. He takes the veteran Mosca to task for talking trash about him.

Middle: Hennig gains the upper hand as he takes it to Mosca.

End: Hennig hits a belly to belly suplex. He rolls up Mosca for the win @ 7:17

Mosca is irate as he snaps and attacks Hennig with a chair. He tosses a lifeless and bloody Hennig onto the wooden chair.

Angelo Mosca comes over to the desk

Mosca: That damn punk needs to show me the respect I deserve! He's nothing more than a damn pretty boy.

Buddy Colt: Angelo you could've done serious damage to his back by slamming him onto that chair.

Mosca: I don't care! that little puke doesn't deserve to even lace my damn boots.

Angelo Mosca is escorted to the back. Curt Hennig finally is revived and able to get up.

He comes over to the announce desk.

Curt Hennig: Gordon that man has the audacity to nearly break my back. I am in the prime of my life! Mosca you started a war that you won't soon get out of. This is for the long haul now!

Gordon: When we come back Kevin Sullivan will face Brian Blair in the next tournament match and so much more!

Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's bring out Brian Blair to discuss his upcoming match.

Gordon: Brian how do you feel about going up against Kevin Sullivan here in round one?

Brian Blair: Well it is definitely gonna be a tough one. Sullivan is a lunatic and likes to hurt people. I will do all I can to make sure I advance in the tournament.

Gordon: good luck to you sir.

John Carpenter's Halloween theme plays as Kevin Sullivan comes down to the ringside area

Kevin Sullivan shows Brian Blair his howdy doody doll. He compares Brian Blair to howdy doody.

Beginning: Sullivan uses every dirty tactic he can to hurt Blair.

Middle: Blair tries to make a comeback and does for a minute or two. Sullivan blasts back with a nasty punch to Blair.

End: Sullivan locks in the Tree Of Woe (Figure 4 Leglock) as Blair writhes in pain. Brian Blair can no longer fight it as he submits at 9:38.

Kevin Sullivan: hahahaha howdy doody went down for the 1-2-3. I told ya Brian don't mess with me!

Sullivan: You were simply all too easy to put away. I am now one step closer to becoming Florida champion!

Gordon: let's go to our commercial break

Buddy Colt: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now go to my colleague Gordon Solie who is standing by with Bob Roop.

Gordon: Mr Roop you face the man who has been in your crosshairs for some time now

Gordon: What

Gordon: You just said that

Bob Roop is seen repeating that same line over and over as he goes to the back

Gordon: well that was certainly interesting to say the least. Let's bring out The American Dream Dusty Rhodes.

Gordon: Dusty you look great my friend

Dusty: Gordon I look good and feel good! Bob Roop it is crystal clear babay that sumting ain't right witu

Gordon: Dusty what are your thoughts so far on the tournament?

Dusty: well I gotta hand it to my boy Curt Hennig. He's a great talented young man who is gonna be a big star in professional wrassling soon.

Dusty: Also Purple Haze and that sick demented Kevin Sullivan cheated their way to a victory. I am gonna be looking out for em.

Gordon: Let's go now to the ring for our next match

Bob Roop vs Dusty Rhodes

Roop comes back out to the ring still chanting the same thing

Beginning: This one is a wild back and forth brawl all over the ring and ringside area

Middle: Dusty continues to dish out his usual moves on Roop. Roop gets in a few shots but seems rather subdued and out of it.

End: Dusty lands his patented Bionic Elbow on Bob Roop. He pins Roop for the win to advance in the tournament at 13:06

Kevin Sullivan and Mark Lewin come out and are seen talking with Bob Roop. He walks to the back with them as Sullivan is maniacally laughing.

Gordon Solie: folks that cannot be anything good. Right now let's take our final break and we'll get to the final match of the day.

Buddy Colt: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's go now to our colleague Barbara Clary for a new segment called Take Five.

Barbara Clary: Thanks Buddy. Take Five will be a segment that focuses on a wrestler's career in the world of wrestling in and outside the ropes.

Clary: My guests this week are Ron Bass and Ricky Harris.

Waylon Jennings' Good Ol' Boy plays as Bass & Harris make their way to the ringside area for their interview

Clary: last week we saw The Brisco Brothers make a shocking return to Florida when they attacked you both

Ron Bass: you damn right they attacked us. Jack Brisco you can call it an equalizer. I call it a damn near pearl harbor job.

Ricky Harris: You guys used to be people could both aspire to be like. what happened?

Ron Bass: When I first got into wrestling I wanted to be just like Jack Brisco. He was a man I could look up to and be like.

Barbara Clary: What did you guys think of him calling you both a couple of bar room brawlers?

Jack Brisco: well well let's hear this now. What did you bar room brawling pieces of trash think of that comment?

Ron Bass: I think you need to step back and get outta my face. You get in my face I'll knock you down!

Jack Brisco gets right up to Ron Bass and is smirking at him

Jack Brisco: There I'm in your face. C'mon cowboy let's tangle

the interview abruptly ends as fists go flying as this one turns into a wild fight

Gordon Solie: brother I tell you that is one feud that is just beginning to heat up. The state of Florida will need to watch that one because it is gonna be a wild and wooly match when they do fight in an official sanctioned match.

Buddy Colt: Brisco Brothers have certainly become quite arrogant as of late. Jack Brisco was at one considered to be one of the great world heavyweight champions.

Solie: fans let's go to the ring for our final match of the day

Roddy Piper vs Johnny Weaver

Piper and Weaver come to the ring side by side. Weaver puts out his hand to shake and Piper shakes it as they enter the ring.

Solie: Weaver and Piper are certainly at this point going to put their friendship aside so that one of the two can advance in the tournament. It is purely luck of the draw that they ended up wrestling against each other.

Beginning: Piper and Weaver put on an amazing technical match as it is clear they both badly want to be champion

Middle: Piper gains the upper hand as he hits his Scotland The Brave (High Knee Lift). Weaver is dazed and out of it.

End: Piper hits a belly to back suplex on Weaver. He covers him for the win and to advance at 7:20

Piper collapses outside the ring in pure joy as he cannot believe he has advanced. The fans are screaming and chanting Piper, Piper, Piper & so on

Really loved the hype for Abby and the Manny/Lewin match got wild at the end.

 

I wonder if Roop getting stuck on repeat is going to lead to him becoming Maya Singh? I'm really digging the Briscos stuff here at first I didn't think Black Bart & Ron Bass felt like good opponents for them but you've changed my mind. Gordon using his patented "brother I tell you" line got a big smile out of me.

 

Really strong second show building off of the first and a great use of pictures throughout. Very authentic Florida show with Gordon feeling very much like Gordon and even Barbary Clary being there. I'm glad you jumped in and kept Florida from going under.

 

Show seemed longer than an hour though, especially with some of the longer match times.

Really great job with Florida so far! Sullivan's army is going to keep growing it seems. Almost looks like Fernandez is on his way out. Can't wait to see the next brackets of the tournament. Also want to know who's life Abby is set to be making miserable.

I don't really want to stir the pot with this question but I think it's something that should be answered... But who does Gordon Solie work for? For all intensive purposes Florida is in NWA territory however he is also over on southeastern which is AWA territory. Anyone else see this is a conflict? If you guys have an agreement that's awesome I just thought it was interesting how that dynamic was working out.

Gordon: folks we have no idea yet who that man is with Haze and Sullivan. We will hopefully try to get a word after the match.

Beginning: Lewin puts the screws to young Hennig in this wild fast paced match.

Middle: Curt gains the upperhand as he blasts away at Lewin. Sullivan is screaming at Lewin.

End: Curt hits his patented belly to belly suplex on Lewin. He quickly rolls him up for the pin @ 6:37

Gordon: Curt Hennig is moving on in the tournament here today. What a tremendously talented young athlete he is.

Gordon: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Right now Buddy Colt is in the locker room of Kevin Sullivan and company attempting to get an interview.

Buddy Colt: ladies and gentlemen I am here at the locker room area of Kevin Sullivan and well for a lack of a better term his family.

Buddy: Kevin could I have just a moment of your time sir?

Kevin Sullivan: I got a match later on. I don't like the press first of all. So you back stab me you will pay Buddy Colt!

Buddy: Kevin what is going on with Bob Roop...

Kevin: There is NO Bob Roop anymore. This strange and beautiful creature is now rechristened Maya Singh hahahaha.

Buddy: Bob.. uh I mean Maya.

Maya Singh: Next time Kevin and I won't be so nice. Bob Roop is dead and buried forever!

Kevin: The Chairman and myself we knew this tortured soul needed our guidance. You see Abuddadein himself created this creature here in his vision.

Buddy: Kevin it appears you sir will face Curt Hennig in just a little while as the tournament progresses.

Kevin: Curt Hennig that youthful cherubic face of yours will be unrecognizable hahahaha.

Buddy: back to Gordon at ringside...

Gordon: Thanks Buddy. Promoter Eddie Graham has some big news to share with the fans.

Eddie: Gordon I can now officially clue everyone in and some big news. We have signed a young man who has yet to wrestle his first professional match. We however know that he too will become one of the greats in pro wrestling. He is the brother of David, Kerry and Kevin. That's right the fantastic Von Erich wrestling family!

Gordon: brother talk about a coup for the state of Florida!

Eddie: I've been working with young Michael in the last week or so. let's bring Mike out here.

ZZ Top's La Grange blares as Mike Von Erich makes his way around the studio shaking hands and hugging the fans

Gordon: Mike welcome to Florida. Its a shame really that you couldn't be involved in our Florida title tournament.

Mike Von Erich: I know I sure wish I was in it. I am however rooting for American Dream Dusty Rhodes to win it all.

Eddie: Mike's dad Fritz sent Mike down here to gain some experience without being overshadowed by his older brothers.

Mike: I don't want to immediately be looked at as something different because of my brothers. Florida also some great athletic programs too.

Eddie: This kid is gonna be ready. I can also firmly announce now that we will be crowning a Florida Television champion in a 20 man over the top battle royal called Lords of the Ring very soon.

Gordon: what does that mean?

Eddie: well not only will they be crowned TV Champion they also get a check for twenty five thousand dollars!

Gordon: talk about a tremendous incentive. We'll be back after this quick break.

Dusty slaps hands with some of his people as they cheer in excitement

Beginning: Dusty and Piper put on an awesome match to the delight of the crowd. the crowd is mixed as both are fan favorites. Some cheer for Dusty and some for Roddy.

Middle: Dusty gains control of the match as he dishes out more pain for the Scotsman.

End: Dusty hits his bionic elbow on Roddy Piper. He pins Roddy for the win @ 6:46

The fans scream and holler as Dusty is one step closer to being the new champ.

Dusty: Kebbin Sullivan babay you and the rest of dem friends of yours gonna pay heed! I don't know what you did to Bobby Roop but I will find out!

Dusty: Gordon we may not have been all that close. Hell I tried to be his friend not too long ago. Sullivan has transformed him into his own sickening foot soldier. They have brain washed him into their sick occult. Kebbin you will pay for what ya done did and that is a fact jack.

Barbara Clary: welcome to this week's Take Five. My guest this week is Curt Hennig.

Curt Hennig: Thanks for having me on Barbara.

Barbara: Curt last week we saw Angelo Mosca blatantly attack you with a chair and then slamming your back on it.

Curt: My back was in pain for several days after that. I'm still not 100 percent pain wise but wasn't gonna pull myself out of the tournament for nothing.

Angelo Mosca walks over pretending to cry

Mosca: wah wah wah poor poor Curt. You little puke don't deserve to be in this damn tournament.

Curt: So who should be in my spot then? you?

Mosca: you damn right! You stole it from me!

Mosca is irate and smacks Hennig

this one turns into a wild brawl all over the ringside area

Barbara Clary: we'll be back....

Gordon Solie: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. What a brawl we just saw between Curt Hennig and Angelo Mosca on Barbara Clary's Take Five.

Buddy Colt: Angelo feels the spot should've been his. Curt though has a tough tough match opponent in Kevin Sullivan in just a minute.

Curt Hennig awaits Kevin Sullivan's arrival as he is already in the ring

Buddy: I'm being told now that Eddie Graham and the rest of the board of directors for this promotion have told Angelo he'd be fined 10,000 if he interferes in this match.

Gordon: a wise choice by our president.

We see Kevin Sullivan come down to ringside and mock Hennig with his howdy doody doll

Beginning: This is a wild and fast paced match as both men want to win desperately

Middle: Sullivan blasts away at Hennig. He hits him with a nasty punch to his abdominal area.

End: Sullivan locks in the Tree of Woe (Figure 4 Leglock) on a down and out Hennig who writhes on the mat in pain. Hennig finally submits after trying to break the hold @ 7:51

Gordon: brother that last match with Dusty and Sullivan is sure to be a barn burner. We'll get to that and more when we come back!

Gordon: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83...

We see Mike Shaw walk out to the announce desk looking irate

Gordon: Can I help you sir?

Mike: that's real great you don't even know my damn name! Soon enough Solie you will remember it.

Gordon: What are you doing here?

Mike: The name for now is Mike Shaw. I am here because I am sick to death of being overlooked around here. I guess I wasn't good enough to be in that Florida title tournament.

Gordon: what can I do about it?

Mike: You tell Eddie Graham that I'm damn angry. Instead of hyping actual wrestlers he comes out here and hypes up some snot nosed kid of Fritz Von Erich who hasn't even wrestled a match.

Gordon: well I will tell him. Right now we have a match to get to.

Mike: Stop trying to get rid of me. That little snot nosed kid Mike Von Erich is probably still wet behind the ears. He's an idiot just like those loser brothers of his hahaha.

Mike Von Erich: don't you ever run your fat mouth about my brothers man. I can and will kick your butt!

Mike Shaw: I'd like to see you try shorty. Your big brothers ain't here now to fight your battles shrimp.

Mike Von Erich: My brothers might not be here but I don't need 'em.

Mike Von Erich and Mike Shaw brawl all over the studio by the announce desk before several wrestlers are sent out to separate them.

Eddie Graham comes out to make an announcement.

Eddie: Right now Mike Von Erich is not yet cleared by the state athletic commission to wrestle professionally til next month. I am signing you two to a match next month at our big card Lords of the Ring. We don't have a date or a venue set just yet but this is a good addition.

Mike Von Erich nods in agreement as he and Eddie head to the back. CWF agents escort Mike Shaw back to the dressing room area.

Gordon: fans that could be one you wanna watch. Lords of the Ring is already heating up the Sunshine State with just those two matches.

Gordon: Kevin Sullivan vs Dusty Rhodes is our final match of the day and one of them will be Florida champion. Sullivan's family of course is banned from ringside still.

Bobby Folsom's The Great American Dream plays as we see highlights of Dusty's title victory match as the credits roll

I like the output from Floria so far. Sullivan is a key component to the dark side. Hennig is an up and comer who will shed blood for the fans and the fate of his career. Then we have Dusty who will always be the top draw and the man by which the world turns. Some good additions with Mike Von Erich and Mike Shaw who will both be serviceable members of the roster while Mosca is turning into the biggest bully on the block. You put forth a lot of attention to the details which helps the product build and the fluidity by which it comes across will become more clear as time progresses. When Dusty has some free time and wants to come swipe up all the Superdome money, let me know, he is a highly valued commodity anywhere in the world and Mid South would love to do business with him.

You have some great shows here with healthy dose of the "usual Florida suspects" on board. Dusty is going to be loved and Sullivan and crew are going to be hated.

 

Nice to see you mix in some of the young talent with the vets and give them some tv time.

 

Bob Roop's segment repeating himself is an uh oh moment of I've ever seen one.

I was a big fan of Dusty winning the title. Seems like it was the way to go and it sets up a Dusty vs. Sullivan's army feud really well. Will Hennig or maybe Mike von Erich join up with Dusty to fight this menace? I'm wondering what direction Piper takes after this show. His Sullivan feud appears to be over, but there is still the chance he joins up with Dusty. Great Dusty and Sullivan promos also, really liking the new direction Florida has taken.

Good stuff here. You definitely have Gordon's parts right on the mark and the Dusty promo was on the money as well. Quite a mix of talent here with guys who were on the rise in 1983 like Curt Hennig and to a lesser extent Mike Von Erich & Mike Shaw and other guys like Dusty, Piper & Sullivan who were already well established. I'm interested to see who rises and if anyone falls.

Mike Shaw comes barreling down to the ring and attacks Hennig as the bell rings

Beginning: Shaw and Hennig put on one helluva back and forth brawl.

We see Kevin Sullivan come out and watch the match with Purple Haze at his side. He is cackling with glee.

End: Shaw hits a brutal body avalanche on a dazed Curt Hennig. He rolls him up for the win @ 6:38

Gordon: Kevin what seems to be on your mind this week?

Sullivan: Gordon, I'm feeling great this week. You see my mentor The Chairman of the Board has acquiesced and told me He'll be here real soon.

Gordon: What was going on with Mike Shaw? why did he leave with the family and why were you out here?

Sullivan: The Chairman asked me to take a look at Mikey's match. He could be a real contender for membership in the family.

Gordon: alright very interesting. when...

the Technical Difficulties sign comes up briefly before heading to a mystery man

Chairman: Mike Shaw listen up! The time has come to relieve your pain and suffering. It will be better for you. Not so enjoyable though for Michael Von Erich.

Chairman: the destruction of Mike Von Erich will be quite beautiful. My favorite time of year is Halloween. Next week will be like the family's christmas hahahahahahaha

the camera abruptly cuts out and goes back to the studio

Gordon: Kevin what on earth was that all about. and who is this man anyway?

Kevin: The Chairman surprised even me. We didn't know he was so keen on being here next week.

Kevin walks away muttering to himself

Middle: This one is ugly and over from the beginning. Jack lays in a few nasty chops.

End: Jack locks in Steve Sybert in a figure four leglock. Sybert taps immediatly as he writhes in pain. Brisco's win @ 3:17

Gordon: talk about a match that was really rather over from the start

Buddy: I have to agree. Steve Sybert and Rufus R Jones were overmatched like no other tag team. Brisco's are just phenomenal athletes.

Gordon: We may not like their recent attitudes. I do have to though give them their due.

Buddy: Let's go now to Barbara Clary for this week's Take Five with Dusty Rhodes

Barbara Clary: Welcome to Take Five. Joining me this week is the new Florida champion Dusty Rhodes

Dusty Rhodes: woo honey it feels good to be Florida champion once again babay. My great fans here in Florida helped me achieve that dream.

Barbara: Dusty what do you make of the recent goings ons of Kevin Sullivan and the family?

Dusty: Kebbin Sullivan is an evil man. Now The Chairman say he gon be here next week. I gots me some Halloween candies for that piece of trash.

Barbara Clary: Do you know who the Chairman is?

Dusty: oh sugar I know who he is. We gonna see the ugly face next week. I gots me an insurance policy that is sure to send The Chairman flying back to his batcave.

Barbara: alright thank you dusty. we'll see you next week for another Take Five.

Buddy Colt: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Dusty Rhodes and Johnny Weaver are already in the ring. Mike Von Erich at ringside as he came out here with Johnny and Dusty. We are waiting on Kevin Sullivan and Mark Lewin.

Gordon: Dusty brought out his good friend Mike Von Erich to help cheer him on it seems.

Gordon: this fans is a main event in any arena here in Florida. We're potentially seeing a great classic right here.

Beginning: This does indeed start off to be a great match as Dusty starts it off against Sullivan

Middle: Weaver and Lewin are now in the ring putting on a great match. All of a sudden Mike Shaw comes from out of nowhere and blasts a fireball at Mike Von Erich who is at ringside cheering on Dusty and Weaver.

Gordon: what on earth was that all about. Mike Von Erich was just the victim of a nasty fireball from Mike Shaw.

End: Dusty and Weaver win @ 11:27 as Sullivan and Haze are DQ'd

we see two paramedics rush down to haul off Von Erich on a gurney. Shaw heads over to the announce desk.

Gordon: what on earth was that all about?

Shaw: That was me trying to impress The Chairman. I heard what he had to say earlier and I was simply inspired.

Gordon: why hurt Mike Von Erich?

Shaw: are you dumb AND blind? c'mon four eyes I hate that snot nosed little puke. He's gonna find out that without his big brothers he can't beat me.

Dusty Rhodes is nearly in tears as he comes to the desk

Dusty: Michael Shaw you disgusting piece of trash. You hurt one of my close friends. Mike Von Erich was doing nothing to you to deserve that fireball.

Shaw: I find the little puke to be annoying. On top of that he's out here cheering you on like some little cheerleader. He stinks!

Gordon:I apologize we are outta time. We'll see you next week fans. So long from the Sunshine State!

Content-wise, this is some good stuff with some of the Florida regulars in Dusty and Sullivan (and gang) at the top of things as they should be. Looking forward to some wars between both parties.

 

Speaking of Dusty, you have his speech patterns down, so I can picture the slobbering Rhodes ramble on.

Sullivan: hahahah today is the day the chairman is gonna make his way to Florida. The Chairman gets a real thrill outta hurting people. This family is growing every week.

Mike Shaw: poor little Mikey Von Erich. you little snot nosed puke got what you deserved last week.

Sullivan: hahaha Mike you my man are brilliant. The Chairman is very impressed with you.

Sullivan: Dusty Rhodes you my friend are about to be one of the shortest term champions in the history of the Florida heavyweight title. You see Maya here is gonna pin you and then give me what is rightfully mine.

Maya Singh: Dusty Rhodes your time is about to be expired as champion. Kevin is the true Florida champion.

Gordon: well Kevin Sullivan thinks that Maya is just gonna give him the belt should he win it. Let's now go to commercial break. When we come back I'll speak with Eddie Graham plus action from The Long Riders & more.

Gordon: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Joining me now is Promoter Eddie Graham to discuss all the latest.

Eddie: thanks for having me on Gordon. I wish it were under better circumstances. Mike Von Erich is going to make a full recovery and will be ready to wrestle next month.

Gordon: what is Mike's condition?

Eddie: Mike suffered some minor facial injuries but nothing that will keep him out of wrestling. In fact he'll be here next week to sign the contract with Championship Wrestling from Florida.

Gordon: We sure look forward to that!

Gordon: Kevin Sullivan seems to think that should Maya Singh defeat Dusty Rhodes here today that he will be the new florida champion. In other words Maya is gonna give him the belt.

Eddie: Gordon under no circumstances can talent just give someone their title belt. Also I will fine Kevin Sullivan, Purple Haze or Mike Shaw each ten thousand should they think of interfering in our main event.

The Long Riders (Ron Bass/Ricky Harris) vs Cy Jernigan/John Bonello

Ron Bass destroys Jernigan in the opening moments of the match, it is obvious that Jernigan and Bonello are outmatched here.

Ricky Harris is tagged in and he too decimates Jernigan and Bonello.

out of nowhere we see Jack and Jerry Brisco come in the ring and attack The Long Riders with a pair of chairs

Curt Hennig, Rufus R Jones & Johnny Weaver come out from the back to help The Long Riders

with them we see Lord Alfred Hayes watching the beatdown is a smiling and smirking Lord Alfred Hayes

Gordon: The Brisco Brothers came outta nowhere to attack The Long Riders. They brought with them Lord Alfred Hayes.

Lord Alfred walks over to the announce desk with Jack and Jerry to talk to Gordon.

Gordon: Lord Alfred what is going on here?

Lord Alfred: You know in the ranks of professional wrestling one finds many splendid athletes. Occasionally one finds one or two athletes who are head and shoulders above the ordinary stock type wrestler. I refer of course to these Indians of prodigious strength by the name of Brisco. Jack and Jerry have been known to me for many years of course. Jack is a former world champion. Under my guidance and supervision he will be champion once again.

Gordon: Jack or Jerry what made this come about?

Jack: You see this man is the only manager that produces the finest champions in professional wrestling. Those two bar room brawling cowboys don't know what they are in for as this is just the beginning.

Lord Alfred: hm hm hm those two cowboys are too dumb. They should know better than to mess with The Brisco's and myself.

Gordon: folks don't go away as when we come back Florida champ Dusty Rhodes defends his title against Maya Singh. all that when we come back!

Maya Singh comes down to the ring threatening the fans along the way as they boo him

Dusty and Singh brawl all over the ring and outside of it as the referee tries to regain control.

Dusty gains the upperhand as he works over Maya Singh. He hits his bionic elbow and quickly pins Maya Singh for the win and to retain his Florida title @ 11:39

out of nowhere Freddie Blassie attacks Dusty Rhodes with his cane. Kevin Sullivan & Purple Haze come in the ring and assist Freddie & Maya dissecting Dusty with all kinds of weapons.

Freddie grabs the house mic away from the ring announcer

Blassie: Dusty Rhodes my child Kevin Sullivan will destroy you and everything you stand for. It was indeed me who is The Chairman of the Board.

Blassie: Mike Shaw come out here my child.

Mike Shaw comes down to the ringside area and bows before Blassie

Blassie: you proved yourself 110 percent last week. I am making you a member of The Family. Your old name will not do. I christen you Makhan Singh.

Mike Shaw looks up at Blassie in awe and wonder

Makhan: Thank You father!

Blassie walks over to Gordon and Buddy

Blassie: Hey Solie how'd Mike Von Erich enjoy that fireball last week hahaha.

Gordon: you and your family are a deranged sick bunch. How could anyone stand to see a young man like Mike Von Erich get a fireball to the face.

Blassie: that's the difference between you and me. You see Gordon I like to hurt people. It brings me and my son Kevin much pleasure to hurt those who've hurt us in the past. Dusty knows very well what we mean by all this.

Gordon: folks you don't wanna miss next week as Mike Von Erich returns to sign his official contract. We'll see you next week fans. So long from the Sunshine State!
