Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling News

MACW will be returning to a full time schedule this week. The promotion took a week off to give everyone a rest after Coastal Clash. A majority of wrestlers were sent to Houston last weekend for the big tag team tournament.

Coastal Clash was a pretty big success in the eyes of the promoters. MACW officials were extremely happy with the presentation. NWA officials were happy with the quick title change from Flair to Steamboat back to Flair. It isn't something they plan on doing very often. The timing worked out well for the quick switch.

Some roster movements will be taking place in the coming days. We've heard that a talent loan deal was reached and the Rock n' Roll Express are on their way in for a little while.

Not much news this week, stay tuned for more.

Southeastern/Fuller

- After several weeks of little or no news we have reviewed some updates from Southeastern. So we have a bit of a big update for you.

- The fall out of the WTBS deal has clearly hit the territory hard, with so much investment into talent, it's caused a major money issue and several top earners have left the territory, most notably Buddy Landell, The Rock n Roll Express, The Heavenly Bodies and Jim Cornette, Adrian Street, Bill Dundee and a few others. Over the pass few weeks they have all finished up there dates. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the guys all came back in at some point when money issues have passed as they all like the area and the travel schedule.

- Southeastern has also quietly left the AWA, there is no ill feeling between Verne Gagne and Ron Fuller, Fuller just felt he just needed a fresh start after the whole WTBS fiasco. It's believed with Crockett and the NWA going strong, Southeastern could be back with the NWA before long although they have had some interest showed from the newly formed USWA which they are mulling over. Fuller and Jarrett have a great working relationship.

- With the Heavenly Bodies being the tag champs they recently dropped the titles to the now face team of The Nightmares. Danny Davis and Ken Wayne have been having excellent matches with the relatively new team of Mike Davis and Tommy Lane over the titles in the past few weeks. Tommy Lane and Mike Davis are taking credit for Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton leaving the territory and are now calling themselves the Rock N Roll RPMs.

- Robert Fuller returned to avenge being put out of action by Buddy Landell and his stable by winning the National Heavyweight title and then a week later unifying it with the Southeastern title from "Bullet" Bob Armstrong, when a mystery masked man stopped Armstrong from cheating. These two have been feuding over this title (now simply known as the Southeastern Heavyweight Title) for the last month. The Masked Man hasn't been seen since.

- The top feud in the territory seems to be the face Studd Stable of Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden and The Monoglian Stomper versus "Bullet" Bob along with The Flame and Phil Hickerson.

- The Assassins have returned feuding with The Lightening Express Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner. These two teams along with the RPMs and Nightmares have been inter locking in matches around the horn.

- Roy Lee Welch has been left Big Bubba Lynch as he's bodyguard as he took out an injunction against Ken Lucas following their blood feud. Roy Lee Welch broke the terms of his injunction by attacking Lucas in a 2 on 1 attack. Only for a returning Eric Embry to save Lucas. These 4 man have been feuding.

- Eric Embry is the only one from the Landell Hollywood Blonde team left, he has since turned face and aligned himself with Alabama Legend Ken Lucas.

- Brad Armstrong managed to be the first wrestler to complete the "Beat the Champ" Television Champion only to just come up short against Buddy Landell. The current "Beat the Champ" Television Championship is held by Brads younger brother Scott Armstrong who has defeated The Masked Yankee and Assassin #2 and is 2/5 in his quest.

- The current format of television has been Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart with Les Thatcher being used as an onscreen match maker for the territory.

- With the exodus of stars a lot of young talent have had to up their position in the promotion, most notably Tracey Smothers and Steve Armstrong have been teaming, The Masked Midnights (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty), The Masked Yankee (Steve Lombardi), "Toy Boy" Tony Falk and the Devils Duo, Jeff Sword and Doug Vines.

There are serious rumors coming out of USWA Wrestling that Jerry Jarrett and Ted Turner are having difficulty co-existing. Jarrett is said to be furious about the lack of respect that some of his Memphis based wrestlers are getting, especially the King, Jerry Lawler who seems to be second fiddle to the "Hero of Georgia Championship Wrestling, Tommy Rich.

Jarrett also heard that Turner has been having meetings with Bill Watts in an attempt to grow USWA and maybe even to become the President of the Company. Jarrett is the current President and believes that Turner's ego and his desire to run the first truly national program is clouding his vision.

Jarrett may also be jealous of Fritz Von Erich whose weekly show, TNT, has opened to great ratings when you consider its small roster and small budget. It has done so well that Fritz is looking to expand this roster and everyone knows he would love to find away to bring back his sons. Fritz is also looking to expand out of the Dallas area.

Fritz knows that the easiest way to increase ratings is to bring back legendary World Class Championship Wrestling announcer Bill Mercer and he is in the process of doing exactly that. This made Turner wonder why he has to pay for both Lance Russell and Gordon Solie. Look for changes is the TV structure and the broadcast structure in the near future.

In efforts to cut costs, Turner is also said to be looking for a new home base for his TV promotions. He understands Atlanta is the center of his empire but he also knows their are cheaper venues around. Turner said he will never give up the Omni as one of his major venues, but in terms of the weekly TV show, he says it is expensive going back and forth between Atlanta and Memphis.

WWA News

There are a lot of rumors taking place backstage as to the state of the company and how it will move forward in the future, and most of it is not clear.

After Shamrocks and Shenanigans, some issues with how things were handled backstage have led to the current hiatus of the WWA. The contract with USA requires one special to air every month, so they have to run a show on Saturday (April 28) in order to keep the deal, but a lot of people are wondering if that show will even take place. WWA does have the International Ampitheatre in Chicago booked for Saturday and they have had a date on NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair booked for months, so I'd expect the show to go off in some form. However, due to the turmoil and the hiatus (which came with no advance notice) there is no word as to whether anybody on the roster will be there. Aside from those who worked the Paul Boesch tag tournament (and a handful taking limited dates outside WWA), nobody has worked, which means nobody's making money

What we do know for sure is that Arnold Skaaland has been removed as WWA's on-screen commissioner. This was Skaaland's decision as he doesn't want to travel from White Plains, New York to Indianapolis every week. A new commissioner is expected to be named on the USA special should it take place.

There is a new manager coming in to replace Bobby Heenan. The original plan was to debut him on the upcoming special but due to the hiatus, the angle to bring him in that was to be started a few weeks ago hasn't started, so it could be pushed back a month.

The news and rumors are coming fast and furious for the USWA and it is hard to tell which is which.

Financially, the recent mega-show in the Mid-South Coliseum was a huge success and its TV ratings were through the roof but not everyone in the organizations seems thrilled. In fact, Jerry Jarrett went nuts and was furious at Tommy Rich for not being in shape enough to compete in the two matches that he had. Jarrett had no problem allowing the World Title to go to Rich but then when he just quit in the tag team title match and threw in the towel, Jarrett couldn't believe it.

People who were around him said that he could not believe Rich allowed The King to lose his title in Memphis and that Rich deserved to be beaten by the wild mob that almost rushed the ring. Jarrett and Turner were already having problems. Turner thinks that Jarrett is a one town hick who can only survive in Memphis while Jarrett believes Turner to be too egotistical and has no clue on how to run a wrestling business.

Turner seems in hurry to control all of the wrestling in the Deep South and believes that Jarrett can be replaced. It is rumored that he has already spoken with Eddie Graham, Ron Fuller and Bill Watts who have a lot of connections in this industry. Turner loves the attention TNT Wrestling is getting and believes growth for the USWA on the success of Fritz. He is trying everything in his power to help expand the roster of TNT and bring back some hometown stars to the program.

We will just have to wait to see what shakes out for the USWA!

There has been another meeting of the minds in USWA and it appears that Ted Turner and Jerry Jarrett are at such odds that Jarrett may return to Memphis. Turner admits that he does not know enough of the wrestling business and continues to meet with Bill Watts and Eddie Graham in search of a new USWA President in case Jarrett does bolt.

The most interesting name to come out of the USWA rumor mill today was Ron Fuller. Fuller and Turner recently split over the idea that Turner wanted growth and a focus on Georgia while Fuller beliefs in a smaller homegrown roster with a focus on Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. In the two months since Fuller left the USWA he has built a great roster and promotion in Alabama but has recently lost his television contract. The reason for no TV is the rapid growth of USWA on TBS.

If the two could agree on a few things, they may be able to reunite. Turner would have to accept Fuller's love of Alabama and Fuller would have to be able to accept the idea of a superstar stacked roster that appeals to all viewers.

Again, we will have to wait and see. Will the president of the USWA be Jerry Jarrett, Eddie Graham, Ron Fuller or Bill Watts?

-Huge news out of Mid South this week as Hacksaw Duggan defeated Tully Blanchard for the Mid South North American Championship. Vince McMahon was said to be verbally going against the title change saying that Blanchard was the man to go behind. Duggan was interesting as he has a great relationship with Vince, but was visibly upset due to what went down. It is said that McMahon and Duggan met afterwords and were better but Dundee and McMahon are forming camps in Mid South and it isn't getting pretty. To top off the entire story, Bill Watts has been in Georgia as everything has gone down. He is lobbying to take control of the USWA and become president and bring in his entire roster to join the ranks. Watts had previously lobbied to get Dibiase a chance at the NWA World Title but faced some serious scrutiny. Watts feel as as though he can push Dibiase in the USWA with that great cast of wrestlers.

-Speaking of the USWA, as we saw the merger happen over the weekend, Bill Watts was said to be a catalyst in helping some of the deals go through for the USWA and then subsequently Memphis, Dallas, and Florida. Expect to see some USWA wrestlers in Mid South and possibly on the big Superdome card on Saturday the 26th of May.

-The Superdome card is expected to take shape over the next couple of weeks and should be headlined with the official return of Ted Dibiase.

-Bill Dundee has almost complete control of the roster right now and the booking... he is even doing it as a satellite as he is working with Memphis exclusively and working through Jim Ross and Joel Watts along with Grizzly Smith. The McMahon contingent is not on board with all the changes but no major issues have been seen in the work rate.

- Bobby Heenan is said to be doing well in Mid South walking the fine line of comedy vs serious. While McMahon feels some of his humor can help the overall cause, Dundee has said there is no room for it with the current attitude of Mid South.

WWA News and Notes

USA officials were happy with the presentation of the special this past Saturday, but the rating was a disappointment as they couldn't advertise the show properly with so much turmoil in the back office. The next special is tentatively scheduled for May 26, but between Mid-South's Superdome show and the Missouri Title tournament, WWA officials are trying to get it pushed back to June 9. USA is claiming pushing the special back would be in violation of their contract and are insisting on changing the date to May 19.

Apparently there will be some roster turnover in the near future, which is the primary reason for the Missouri Title tournament. Chris Adams and Nick Bockwinkel will be placed on opposite brackets to make people think they will be facing each other in the finals, but I'm told that's not necessarily the case.

At some point Dick the Bruiser will resign as commissioner to make an in-ring comeback, but they're waiting for the right angle and opponent.

The tournament for the Missouri Title will be 16 men and is expected to last 6 weeks. There is talk of trying to do something that has never been done before the semifinals and finals, but at this point nobody is saying what that is.

Rumors that Brickhouse Brown might be on the way out.

It would now appear that Jerry Jarrett was already in talks with WMC TV-5 in Memphis about bringing back the CWA for longer than the recent rumors would imply. Apparently Jarrett had a deal in place before he went to Ted Turner and made his feelings known. It can now be confirmed that CWA Championship Wrestling will back on the air on TV-5 in Memphis as early as next Saturday morning. Jarrett says that he will still work with and share talent with the USWA even if he and Turner can't agree on a number of things. He has managed to bring a number of key wrestlers with him back to Memphis as well as Lance Russell and Dave Brown.

It has also been confirmed that Memphis will recognize the NWA World Champion and will be part of the NWA. There will be a tournament held to crown a NWA Southern Heavyweight Champion, a tournament to crown NWA Southern Tag Team Champions, and an NWA TV-5 Television Champion will be crowned on the first television show on Saturday May 5th.

More news and information to come from the CWA.

Shocking rumor coming out of the AWA is that Hulk Hogan is not happy with his position in the company and may be seeking other opportunities. Word has it that his recent loss of AWA title was meant to head of the possibility of him jumping to another promotion with the belt. Hogan will shortly be heading out for a tour of Japan, apparently both sides will be taking that time to come to some sort of resolution.

VINCE MCMAHON SENT HOME!

-In perhaps the most shocking turn of events, Vince McMahon has left Mid South after a huge blow up with Bill Dundee during this week's Mid South television tapings. Bill Watts had to bring McMahon and Dundee in a closed room meeting that was said to be very loud and violent. McMahon has verbally spoken out against the direction Dundee has been taking Mid South, especially the removal of the titles from Hernandez and Blanchard. Tully and Hernandez left the tapings after their segments before the show ended and there are some major issues running backstage at a time in which Mid South is doing some amazing business and heading for one of the biggest shows of the year at the end of May. Dundee has put Jim Ross and Joel Watts in charge of television production and Grizzly Smith in charge of the talent while McMahon is gone. Watts says it is only for two weeks and one has to wonder what will happen when and if McMahon does return.

BILL WATTS POLITICS

-In addition to the Dundee booking and McMahon fiasco, Bill Watts has now booked himself in the semi-main event for the Superdome show at the end of May. There are a lot of detractors towards Watts putting himself in a position to possibly kill off the Russian angle before it really gets going. McMahon especially sees a lot of money in Nikita Koloff and is worried Watts is going to put him down early to show that he is still the man in charge. To go along with this, Watts has also put himself in the front running position to join the USWA and possibly become the president. This is in part to Dundee's ties with the USWA and Watts using that as leverage to the position, not to mention the hot bed he has created in the Mid South territory.

Stampede in Trouble with networks.

We have it on good authority to say that Stampede Television is in trouble with their local station. Stu Hart who is said to be a very stubborn man. Decided to have a show where Bret Hart was busted open by Stan Hansan, and during the beatdown Hansen began cursing Bret. The censors never got it, and we heard that Hansen did a "Shoot" The local station was not happy about it, but Stu Hart insisted the footage be used. Instead of backing away Stu Hart stood his ground, but the local station finally gave in after we have heard "hundreds upon hundreds" pieces of mail has come in demanding Stampede to be back on television. So an agreement was made. Stan Hansen will be on probation and can't show up on Stampede Television, or Live Events for 6 months. Stan Hansen isn't happy about it, but from what we have heard it was the best that Stu Hart would do. Stu will be coming back onto television, and he has some announcements that he will make to open the show. We have heard that the Supershow will be pushed back a week, and will instead happen on May 13th. So expect a very high action packed edition of Stampede Wrestling coming up!

Vince McMahon Returns...

McMahon officially returned to Mid South tonight during the television tapings. His crew was definitely happy to see him but there were sour grapes on the other side of the fence as Dundee has his crew. The whole angle involving the JYD returning was fast tracked by Dundee who feels he is the top draw and some are wondering if this will just be another opportunity for Ted Dibiase to turn on him and join Hernandez and Blanchard. McMahon was very vocal against this once again and did his best to get the support of Watts who has been spotty at best over the past couple of weeks. Word on the home front is that Vince McMahon Sr is in rough shape due to his cancer. Dundee even went as far as to say that Vince was distracted and couldn't make the right call if he had to. McMahon stayed calm and said as long as he had control of the contracts and booking talent, Dundee needs to do his job and book things the right way.

World tag titles coming to Mid South?

Bill Watts has been lobbying very hard for the Fantastics to get a run as World Tag Team Champions but it has gone on deaf ears in the NWA. Watts has even looked at getting them a shot in the USWA and even a run but nothing official as of yet.

Two-rings...1 winner!

Paul Boesch has been lobbying hard for a huge night in Houston on the 25th as he is going to put up the special two ring set. The Main Event is said to be a huge two ring battle royal. There is even said to be a six-man tag involving both rings at one point. There are a lot of rumors floating around but nothing is set in stone as to how it will all go down.

Orton and Slater coming in...

Bob Orton Jr and Dick Slater are two of Mid South's newest acquisitions thanks to Vince McMahon. The only issue with the timing is the Superdome Card being finalized but they will be used on the House Shows throughout the rest of the month and may debut on television in the coming weeks following the Superdome.

PRESS CONFERENCE COMING UP FOR LUTTE INTERNATIONALE

Local medias in Montreal have been invited to attend a press conference at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal on June 1st in regards to a major announcement about an important signing for Lutte Internationale. No details have emerged yet but first reports suggest that it is a major coup for the new promotion.

What can be confirmed is that promoter Frank Valois is scheduled to announce that Lutte Internationale will not only hold shows in the province of Quebec but also in Ontario and in the Maritimes as well. Another thing known for sure but that will be officialized in the press conference: freelancer Abdullah the Butcher will work the first Lutte Internationale house show on June 3rd and his opponent will be revealed on June 1st.

-As for the first rumored top angles, it's expected that Greg Valentine, who was the last heavyweight champion in Detroit, will be penciled as the number 1 heel in the territory and his BTW Heavyweight Championship reign will be included in his opening main feud. More to come on that matter in upcoming weeks.

HUGE NEWS FROM USWA WRESTLING:

Eddie Graham has decided to re-open Championship Wrestling from Florida but has snubbed his nose at the NWA and has decided to join the USWA. Graham was acting president of the USWA but that spot in now once again open and Ted Turner is in search of a new leader. Right now Eddie Graham and Fritz VonErich will be the head promoters but the USWA is still in limbo as to who will ultimately be in charge. Could it be Watts? or McMahon? or Fuller? We will have to wait and see.

Turner loves the idea of having a new "territory" in his organization as he truly hopes to follow in the footsteps of the NWA. In a perfect world Turner has said his dream would be to have USWA Wrestling by a Three or Four Headed Monster with 3 or 4 territories under the USWA umbrella. Right now he is at two with TNT (Texas) and Florida. Never underestimate Turner and the power of WTBS.

Speaking of TBS, Turner has guaranteed Graham and Florida wrestling a weekly spot on his superstation and guarantees that Gordon Solie will give Florida due dilligence of the weekly show, This Week in the USWA.

It will be very interesting to see who fills out Graham's roster.

All is in chaos in the AWA as, with Hulk Hogan away on a tour in Japan, word has spread that the former champ has not signed a new contract. Hogan has made it clear that he is not happy with his position in the AWA and may well be looking to make an exit. There have been a lot of long distance calls between Hogan in Japan and Wally Karbo in Minnesota but it is looking increasingly likely that the Hulkster's days in the AWA are numbered.

Mid Atlantic News & Notes

It was announced by the MACW office this week that the next Supercard shown all across the Mid Atlantic Region via Closed Circuit will be on June 30th. The event will be held at the Charlotte Coliseum once again. The company wanted to try a different building for this second supercard, but just the way they had already booked venues, it worked out again for Charlotte. They have already looked into another show for the 3rd quarter and that date is tentatively set for September 29th. Rumor is they want to be in the Scope in Norfolk, VA for that show.

Introduced recently was the addition of a second TV show for MACW, titled NWA World Wide Wrestling. The first few weeks were built as a huge deal with all the main players and a big Freebirds/Windhams/Savage angle. The idea behind the show is just to give some of the lower card guys a little more TV time. For the most part, if you are on World Wide this week, you won't be on the main show, or vise versa. This should help build the over all roster.

A lot of rumors flying about the May 31 TV taping maybe a huge one for MACW. Details aren't being discussed outside of the offices, but everyone will be on hand for the taping.

Unfortunately, we had some hiccups in getting house show results for the last month or so, but we believe we now have it all set again. Those should be getting regular updates again.

A rumored program with Randy Savage and Ric Flair seems to be have been dropped without notice. Savage isn't happy about that, but word is that there is a very good reason for this. No one will speculate about this decision. This is why the Barry Windham program has been a focus as of late. He finished up with the Freebirds in the cage and Savage will battle Windham going forward.

The Fabulous Freebirds were said to be happy to help put over Windham in recent weeks. They like him a lot and wanted to help a friend out.

Kendall Windham has returned from his injury, as seen on TV recently. He will be back into the house show loop this week.

We hear that Pez Whatley will be returning to house show loops soon as well, as he had been dealing with an injury as well.

Ric Flair is booked for just about all the TV tapings and Saturday events for MACW in June.

More to come when the new month is here.

Mid South notes from the Superdome

-There is a somber feeling in the arena tonight with the talent feeling the waves from Vince McMahon Sr's death. A great deal of the talent worked for McMahon at one point or the other. Vince Jr's absence is also being felt as Bill Dundee is not in the building but has already given out the assignments for the night. Bill Watts has been absent most of the week as negotiations between him and the USWA have heated up. He is running the event tonight with help from Grizzly Smith and Joel Watts. It just isn't a good feeling in the arena at this point.

-There are many who think this show will be the kickoff for Watts to move towards national syndication for Mid South. Many within Mid South see this as the culmination of the first half of the year and the kick off point for a big summer.

- If the USWA rumors are true, expect Jim Ross to take a main production role and perhaps be the voice of the entire company. Ross is highly touted as one of the top announcers in the sport right now and is said to be a key piece of the puzzle if everything comes together.

-Dick Slater and Bob Orton are in the building but not expected to be used. They signed pay per appearance deals with Mid South but did not have a program going into tonight's card... that doesn't mean they won't show up in an angle. Before McMahon left, he had ideas to put them with Tully and Gino and that could still go through, however Bill Dundee wanted to keep them as a tag team.

-Expect the Guerreros and Fantastics to put everything on the line tonight. There is a lot of talk about this being a match of the year candidate with both teams coming in with a lot of momentum.

In late breaking news, Vince McMahon Jr has reopened the WWF in honor of his late father Vince McMahon Sr. Reports came in early this morning that McMahon brokered a deal going behind the back of Bill Watts and effectively ending a majority of the Mid-South contracts while signing those individuals to new contracts for the World Wrestling Federation. There are some individuals who chose to not signed deals as they were contacted late over the weekend and watts is said to be fuming. McMahon offered big time money for individuals to join the northeastern promotion and there are plenty who took the deal. McMahon also reached out to other individuals around the country and is said to be bringing in top talent from almost every territory.

The deal came to fruition when McMahon secured syndication for his television on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the northeastern area Los Angeles Chicago and Florida. There are many who are wondering just who will be jumping ship but McMahon has already set out a memo with upcoming towns. The week long layoff will allow the WWF to get their ducks in a row and prepare for their tours. Expect names of individuals who will be on the roster to be released on June 1st.

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

5:05-6:05

TAPED IN DALLAS, TEXAS

jcysDrs.jpg?1

02NQn1Us.jpg?1 BILL MERCER welcomes all the fans to TNT Wrestling from the World’s most Famous Wrestling Arena, the Sportatorium in downtown Dallas. Mercer gives a rundown of tonight’s show and really puts over the fact that there will be a number of TNT matches tonight at the USWA Supercard in Dothan, Alabama including a 6 man tag team match between the VonErichs and The Outlaws (Ron Bass, Black Bart and Bobby Jaggers) Mercer takes us to a video that includes highlights of matches and interviews of what has lead up to this white hot feud.

Bill Mercer hypes up tonight’s match and then takes us to the ring and announcer Marc Lawrence for our first match.

Match:

Sweet Brown Sugar & Brickhouse Brown

Vs Hacksaw Higgans & Moondog Cujo

Sweet Brown Sugar and Brickhouse Brown are quickly becoming one of the fan favorites but tonight they had a tough one with the unpredictable team of Higgans and Cujo. After a wild match that saw the heel team use some powerful moves and rugged style, Brickhouse rose to the occasion and started to throw some huge haymakers of his own. Brown was able to continue that momentum and after a Swinging Neckbreaker on Higgans. He tagged back in Sugar and together they connected with a Double Missile Drop Kick for the win.

They joined Bill Mercer who really hyped up their last match and their recent success. Both Sugar and Brickhouse thanked Bill. Mercer tells them to keep up the good work and that he is sure title shots will be in their future.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH

SABU THE WILDMAN

VS

STEVE TRAVIS

When they come out of break, Bill Mercer really hypes up Sabu who is new to TNT wrestling.

Marc Lawrence introduces him as from Pogo Pago and his wild hair and nasty snarl has the fans on alert from the opening bell. As for the match, Sabu uses some brutal martial arts tactics including kicks, chops and nerve holds to control Travis is this squash match. The match comes to an end after Sabu connected with a thrust kick to the chest and then put on some crazy thumb like choke hold and Travis started bleeding out of his mouth. The fans watched on in horror as ref Rick Hazzard called for the bell and declared Sabu the winner. He was some-what reluctant to release the hold.

Mercer really hypes up how dangerous Sabu is and that TNT wrestlers better be careful when dealing with this wildman.

Merer now informs us that it will be the TNT tag team of Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen that get the World title shot tonight against the Sheepherders in Dothan, Alabama. He goes on to wish them luck and say they are really deserving of this #1 contenders position. He goes on to show a highlight video of Brody and Hansen that shows just how tough they really are.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MIL MASCARAS VS NIGHTMARE #1

Bill Mercer welcomes back Mil Mascaras to TNT wrestling and the fans go wild. He is truly a hero in Texas and they love his style. This match features two masked superstars who are really quick and have great technical skill. Mercer says that Mascaras will have to watch out for some of the dirty tactics the Nightmare has been known to use.

It seems like Mascaras heard him and when the Nightmare tried an unclean break in the corner, Mascaras was ready for it. From here on out, it was all Mascaras. He Aerial Acrobatics amazed the crowd and gave him the victory. The one interesting thing was that the Nightmare tried to rip off the mask of Mascaras but was unsuccessful.

Mercer know spends some time hyping up tonight’s match featuring Bam Bam Bigelow and “Dr. D” David Schultz. Mercer really thinks this big, agile rookie has a great shot at beating the double tough Schultz and shows a video of how this feud has been progressing over the past four or five weeks. The best part of the video was a taped interview from Bigelow where he really seemed like he was ready to put a beating on Dr. D. Shultz responded by saying that he is the most dangerous man in TNT and that there is no way in hell that fat, out of shape rookie will last two minutes in the ring with him. Schultz continues to wonder why he has to go down to Alabama in the first place. He says he can’t stand to be around dirt and filth and now he has to wrestle in the most disgusting state in the country. He says “after most of my wins, he likes to go out and find himself a HOT WOMAN. How I am going to do that here. There are no women in the whole state of Alabama. There are only girls who look like men and men that look like girls.”

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Killer Khan and The Missing Link vs Steve Simpson & Wendell Cooley

In a match that you thought would be a complete squash match, the underdogs performed really well. They actually almost gained the victory after Cooley hit Link with the Oklahoma Stampede but Khan made the save with the Big Boot. This kick really took the wind out of Cooley and Khan was able to put him away a few minutes later with the Cobra Clutch.

Mercer says that he has saved the best for last and wants to spend some time on the hottest feud in all of wrestling. He continues to say that this is not just between two men but between two men and two very tough ladies. He goes on to announce that the inter-gender match between Eddie Gilbert and Sheri Martel vs Curt Hennig and Baby Doll is all anyone can talk about. Mercer continues to review this huge bout with some videos of matches and interviews over the last month or so. One thing that becomes obvious is that Martel and Baby Doll just can’t stand each other.

After the tape ends, Mercer really hypes up the event in Alabama and says if you can’t be there in person, join us right here on WTBS one hour from now. He guarantees that it will be an awesome show! Mercer ends with “So long from the Sportatorium.”

The screen fades to black.

****Note to the readers: I know this show lacked some of the fire power but to keep it realistic, I could not find another way. I have been “taping” my TNT show Sunday evenings and figured that there was no way for the wrestlers to get to Alabama in time for the Mega Show. That is the reason I kept saying they were showing video tapes. I have been watching some Mid-South shows and Smoky Mountain Wrestling shows of late and they seemed to live off showing old material and videos. I guess that keeps the bills down.

WWA News

A deal was brokered at the last minute that will allow WWA to have specials on the USA Network. The original deal was for monthly specials, but with some changes being made to the front office, it was decided to go to a quarterly schedule with a mutual option for additional specials. Rumor is the next special may take place June 23 but that is hardly set in stone. The WWA is going to try to coordinate dates with the NWA World Champion's scheduled appearances in the area.

As seen on this past weekend's TV, Chris Adams will be getting at least one match against NWA World Champion Ric Flair. Dick the Bruiser is pushing for Adams to win the title but is getting resistance from the NWA Board of Directors on the change.

The angle with Larry Zbyszko and Tony Garea has not been forgotten about and they will be in a program moving forward.

After their win at the Superdome last week, NWA World Tag Team Champions The Fantastics are expected to be in WWA on nearly a full time schedule.

Expect some more talent exchanges in the next few weeks, with one surprise in particular being removed from the roster.
