Lynchburg, VA

The Armory

Tony Schiavone: Welcome to Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling! I'm Tony Schiavone, and this is David Crockett, and this week we will talk with the new United States Heavyweight Champion, Randy Savage!

David Crockett: That's right, Tony. Also, we will see the TV title defended as the very popular Barry Windham challenges rival, and champion, Terry Gordy! And we will see footage from last weekend's events involving the Strongbows!

Tony: We will also see Ricky Steamboat in action, as well as Kamala.

David: We have our first match ready to go, let's take it up to the ring.

Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens vs Italian Stallion & Dusty Wolfe

The vet's come in and take control immediately. There isn't much of a contest here, as the Stallion gets stretched here. Patterson drops a leaping knee to the head for the win.

Time: 4:10

Decision: Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens

We return to the interview area.

Tony: Please welcome Pedro Morales. Pedro, welcome to Mid Atlantic. What are your plans here?

Pedro: Thank you very much Tony. I have traveled here to climb that ladder of success.

Just as he finishes that statement, Rip Rogers arrives on the set.

Rip: Who cares what your plans are? You're a nobody! Tony's wasting precious television time talking to a loser! Why don't you speak to someone worth the time?

Tony: Well, this is…

Pedro: No, it's ok, Tony. Let him speak. Let's see what Mr. Important has to say.

Rip: Oh, you think you're cute, do ya? Well I don't have a lot to say, what I do want is money, and beating you up inside that ring will get me more of it! So, how about this, right here on TV next week? You and me, one on one.

Pedro: I'll agree to that. I love showing off my athletic talents in front of all the people in the Mid Atlantic region. I'll see you next week.

Tony: And there you have it, a verbal agreement to a match next week! We'll be right back!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

David: Please welcome my guest at this time, Skandar Akbar.

Skandar: David Crockett, have you seen the destruction my Ugandan Headhunter has been leaving all over the Mid Atlantic region?! Ha ha ha ha! He's not even been off his feet since I've brought him here from the deepest, darkest part of Africa. Tonight, he will not only destroy one of your favorites, he will be beating up two of them!

David: That match is scheduled next!

Handicap Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Kamala vs Jason Knight & Frank Williams

Kamala squashes both men in a few short minutes. He gives them both multiple chops and kicks before stacking them both on top of each other and leaping with the big splash for the win.

Time: 3:55

Decision: Kamala

Skandor: And just like that, its over! No one can even get my Kamala off his feet, let alone slam him. I challenge any of you out there! Who wants to mess with the Headhunter? Who wants to challenge my Kamala! He will destroy you all.

David: Well, there's a challenge to the world, who wants to battle the monster known as Kamala?

Tony: Let's take a look at some footage from last weekend's show from Richmond, where the Strongbow's attacked their tag team partner, Sivi Afi.

Video shows clips of the finish and their attack after the match.

Tony: We're back, and we are with Sivi Afi. What prompted this brutal beat down last weekend in Richmond?

Sivi: Tony, I wish I knew. I was their tag team partner. I know we lost, but we all worked hard. I don't know what happened. But I haven't heard from them. I don't know why they attacked me. But I am challenging them for a tag team match tonight in Fayettevlle.

Tony: Another challenge laid out. If they accept this challenge, have you already found yourself a tag team partner?

Sivi: I have. But just like their sneak attack on me, and how I didn't see it coming. They won't see who it is I have coming with me either!

Tony: And with that, we'll be right back.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Tony: Welcome back to Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling! We just heard from our director that the Strongbow's called into the truck and accepted Sivi Afi's tag team challenge for tonight in Fayetteville!

David: Who has Sivi Afi found to be his tag team partner tonight?!

Tony: I don't know, but I'm sure it will be an exciting event. Let's go back to the ring.

Single's Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Ricky Steamboat vs Terry Gibbs

Steamboat out classes Gibbs here with his technical ability. Steamer shows off those legendary arm drags. He keeps Terry off balanced during the entire contest before finishing him off with a beautiful cross body block off the top rope for the win.

Time: 5:12

Decision: Ricky Steamboat's

David: Randy Savage, the new United States Heavyweight Champion is joining us here on the set. How can you be happy with the way you won the title last weekend?

Randy: Did I win? Stop. I'll answer that for you. Ohhhh yeaaahhh! I'm the “Macho Man” Randy Savage and I'm a winner! Of course I'm pleased with my golden victory. Isn't she beautiful? The title belt is gorgeous, just like me! Oh yeahhh!

David: Tonight in Fayetteville, you have a big title rematch with the former champion.

Randy: Yeah? That chump wants more of the “Macho Man”? Bring it on Taylor. I beat you up AND took you title. What's left? Your career? That's up to you. You want another beating? You'll feel the Madness of my flying elbow drop, and I'll crush your career, dig it?!?

Randy struts off the set as we take another commercial break.

COMMERICAL BREAK

NWA Television Title Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Challenger, Barry Windham vs Champion, Terry Gordy

Before the match even really begins, the Freebirds make their way to the ringside area. A moment later, Kendall Windham and Sam Houston make their way to the ringside area as well. Barry and Terry begin to wrestle back and forth in the ring. A few minutes of going back and forth action, but Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts try to interfere, but Kendall and Sam break it up, and a brawl starts at ringside. There is total chaos. Gordy and Windham are battling in the middle of the ring. Hayes sends Kendall to the ringpost. Hayes jumps up to distract Barry, but Barry pushes Gordy into Hayes, and school boys him up and gets the 3-count! We have a new champion! But before he can even get to his feet, Hayes and Gordy are on him, beating him down. Houston slides into the ring to help out, but Buddy Roberts enters the ring with a steel chair and smashes Sam Houston in the back with it. Then they smash it over Barry's had, cutting him open. The Freebirds beat the crap out of all three as we close out the show.

I talked with you earlier about the shows. You've got a a very strong formula building here from your start. We discussed your house shows being superb with your television needing some work, and while it may be minor, nothing wrong with making your money on the circuit building up to those televisions and your big show in a month.

Main Event

Six-Man Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 30-Minute Time Limit

Ricky Steamboat & The Moondogs

vs

NWA World Champ, Ric Flair, US Champ, Randy Savage & Kamala (w/ Skandor Akbar)

Very interesting collision of styles here. Flair and Steamboat have some great interactions going back and forth. Once they are tagged out and Savage/Kamala and the Moondogs get involved it turns into more of a brawl. The momentum goes back and forth, but breaks down into a pier-six brawl. Kamala loses control and grabs a weapon from Akbar and beats his opponent's down with it, getting his team disqualified. Savage and Flair grab their belts and leave, upset at getting DQ'd. Kamala attacks Steamboat again with the weapon, but both Moondogs grab chairs from ringside and run him off.

Decision: Hiro Saito, Toru Tanaka & Tiger Chung Lee

Single's Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Blue Demon Jr. has better luck against Ray Stevens than his partner did against Pat Patterson. Demon Jr. gets a couple of near falls after a head scissors takedown, then once again after a victory roll. However, Stevens catches him on the third attempt at a high-risk move and clotheslines him throat first on the top rope, stunning Demon Jr. long enough for the three count.

Time: 9:02

Decision: Ray Stevens

Grudge Tag Team Match, One-Fall, special 20-Minute Time Limit

Sivi Afi & Junkyard Dog vs The Strongbow's

Mystery partner for Sivi Afi turns out to be the JYD! The crowd goes insane. The Strongbow's are backing off. They are complaining to the referee. The match begins and Afi starts off hot, punching and kicking, starting to brawl. The Strongbow's cut him off and work him over. The crowd is hot. They want to see JYD come in and take control. Eventually Afi makes that hot tag and the crowd just goes nuts. JYD takes on both men. Jules bumps into Jay, Sivi returns, taking Jay to the floor. JYD picks up Jules and drops him with the THUMP! 1-2-3! Revenge for Sivi has been had.

Siki attacks Kamala first. He knows the reputation that Kamala brings, but it doesn't really help. Kamala catches Siki with a big side kick and sends him crashing to the mat. Kamala pounds on Siki as the crowd boo's him loudly. Siki has the crowd behind him. He is able to turn that into a small comeback, but he's only able to dropkick Kamala into the ropes, but Kamala almost no-sells that, coming back and crushing Siki with a huge shoulder block, then bouncing off the ropes and drops the big splash for a 3-count.

Time: 5:56

NWA TV Champion, Barry Windham, Kendall Windham, Ricky Steamboat & Sam Houston

Fun main event, plenty of back and forth. We tease more tension between Steamboat and Flair. The crowd knows the problems between the Windham's/Houston and the Freebirds. Those six just brawl every chance they get. We see Flair and Steamboat work up to a brawl while they are in the ring together. Barry and Terry seek each other out after their title match from TV this week. The finish sees Flair pin Houston after Gordy is able to slam him down to the mat with a Gutwrench Suplex and Gordy slides out of the ring.

Dorton Arena

Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

The Strongbow's vs The Vachon's

Jules and Jay Strongbow come out really vicious now. They immediately attack the Vachon's and really beat them up badly. The Vachon's fight back, but you can tell there were taken by surprise. The Strongbow's even start to use some dirty tactics to keep the advantage. A low blow behind the referee's back gets Jules a pin over Butcher.

Time: 8:42

Decision: Jules & Jay Strongbow

Single's Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Blue Demon Jr. (w/ Pierroth Jr.) vs Tiger Chung Lee (w/ Mr. Fuji)

Blue Demon Jr. uses his high-flying offense to keep TCL off balance. A victory roll earns the victory for Blue Demon Jr. Mr. Fuji sends in Toru Tanaka to attack, but Pierroth Jr. intervenes. This leads us right into the next match.

Time: 5:44

Decision: Blue Demon Jr.

Single's Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Pierroth Jr. (w/ Blue Demon Jr.) vs Toru Tanaka (w/ Mr. Fuji & Tiger Chung Lee)

Tanaka gets an early advantage after a distraction by Mr. Fuji. Tanaka loses the momentum after a missed diving head butt. Pierroth Jr. nails a couple of dropkicks, sending Tanaka to the mat. He climbs the ropes and leaps off with a dropkick. He tries for the cover but Tiger Chung Lee breaks up the pinfall, causing a disqualification. Blue Demon Jr. enters the ring and all four men battle it out. Eventually the Mexican team drop kicks both of Fuji's clan to the floor. Fuji calls them off as they leave ringside.

Time: 6:23

Decision: Pierroth Jr. via disqualification

Six-Man Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 30-Minute Time Limit

The Moondogs & Pedro Morales vs The Grappler's and Rip Rogers

The Moondogs are still chasing the US Tag Team Champions, but tonight is a non-title battle. The Grappler's and Rogers would get an advantage about 4 minutes into the match, and they work over Pedro in their corner. He battles back, but gets cut off. Rogers can't keep him in the corner and Morales makes the tag to Spot. Spot rushes into the ring and sends Rogers all around the ring. Rogers makes a tag to Grappler #1, but Spot is on a roll. He's knocking down the champion over and over. Grappler #1 and #2 swap out at one point, but Spot tags Rex, who knows the deal, Rex shoulder blocks #2 into #1 standing on the apron and rolls him up for the pin.

Time: 11:54

Decision: The Moondog's & Pedro Morales

INTERMISSION

Single's Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Ray Stevens & Pat Patterson vs Sweet Daddy Siki & Sivi Afi

Time: 10:00

Decision: Ray Stevens & Pat Patterson

Single's Match, One-Fall, 15-Minute Time Limit

Lanny Poffo vs Hiro Saito (w/ Mr. Fuji)

Saito pounds away on Poffo a good portion of this match. Lots of stiff kicks and strikes. Poffo is able to move away from a crushing senton, and quickly move up the ropes for his back flip splash for the pin.

Time: 8:34

Decision: Lanny Poffo

Main Event

10-Man Tag Team Match, One-Fall, Special 60-Minute Time Limit

TV Champion Barry Windham, Kendall Windham, Ricky Steamboat, Terry Taylor & Sam Houston

vs

NWA World Champ Ric Flair, US Champ Randy Savage, Fabulous Freebirds (Gordy, Hayes & Roberts)

This main event is ridiculous. Three champions in this match. All of these men know each other really well. They have a hell of a main event battle. Back and forth the entire way. No one team keeps the advantage long enough to put one opponent down for the count. At a couple different points, the referee loses control and it turns into a pier-six brawl. The referee would bring it back under control every time. This goes the entire 60 minutes and there is a time limit draw. The fans are really excited, but drained at the end of the match. They cheer loudly, appreciating a hard-fought battle between ten of the best Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling has to offer.

Time: 60:00

Decision: Time Limit Draw

Lots of stalling early by Rogers. He flaps his mouth more than he's willing to wrestle. He slips into the ring, but begs off immediately. Pedro starts to take an advantage early, but Rip just slips out of the ring again and walks off for a count-out loss.

Time: 3:10

Decision: Pedro Morales

The announcers invite Pedro to the set before he returns to the locker room.

Tony: Pedro, what do you think about the result of that match?

Tony: I wish we knew!

Pedro: I don't get it. Well, a win is a win, Tony.

Pedro walks off the set and disappears into the locker room.

David: That was interesting, Tony, but now let's welcome the United States Champion, Randy Savage!

The crowd gets so loud in their booing.

Time: 4:33

Decision: Terry Taylor's

Tony: Please welcome, Terry Taylor! Impressive win! What's next for Terry Taylor?

Terry: One focus Tony, and that is to recapture the United States title. I feel like I let my fans down. I let me emotions get the better of me, and at the end of the day, it cost me the championship. When I get my rematch, I will not let that happen again!

Terry walks off the set and into the locker room. Junkyard Dog walks out from behind the curtain towards the set and the place explodes!

Tony: Well, this is a surprise! Just as the fans in Fayetteville saw last weekend, JYD is here in the Mid Atlantic region! Welcome Dog!

JYD: Well, thank you Tony. **barks** It's good to be back in MACW.

Tony: Let's take a look at what happened last week in Fayetteville.

We go to a small video package, recapping the events of last week between Sivi Afi, JYD and the Strongbow's. When we return, we see the JYD on the ground, injured. The Strongbow's have attacked during the video and beat down JYD.

COMMERICAL BREAK

Tony: World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair!

Flair: Whooooo!!! The World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair has arrived on the scene.

Tony: Rumor has it, that you're about to sign for a big-time main event at Mid Atlantic's big time closed circuit live event, Coastal Clash on March 31st! Is there any truth to that rumor?!

Flair: Of course there is, Tony. I'm always negotiating for big-time World Title defenses.

Tony: Can you elaborate on whom the challenger for this event will be?

Flair: Ricky Steamboat. Whoooo! That's right, the clean faced, clean cut, nice guy named Ricky Steamboat will be challenging me for MY World's Heavyweight Championship! Tony. I have a lot of respect for his wrestling ability. He is an unbelievable technician. But brother, I'm the World's Champ! Whoo!! I am better than everyone. I'm the “Nature Boy”! Whoo! There is no one greater. March 31. Flair versus Steamboat. NWA World's Heavyweight Championship. Whoooo!!!

Time: 6:40

Decision: Mr. Fuji, Tiger Chung Lee, Hiro Saito & Tony DeVito

We return to the MACW set as Tony is standing by with Jules and Jay Strongbow

Tony: What was the meaning of that attack?!

Jay: What do you mean? That Dog interfered in some business that wasn't his. That's what you get when you interfere in our business.

Jules: We’re not getting ANY respect around here, and we are a great tag team, where's our title shots? How come we aren't even in the discussion to get a World Tag Team Title shot? Even the US tag team champions are ducking us! We demand respect, and we will be taking it from now on.

Jay: Let this be a lesson to everyone that can hear my voice. We aren't playing around anymore.

Tony: Let's go to break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

David: Before his title match coming up next, Barry Windham, congratulations on your big win last week!

Barry: Well, thank you David. That means a lot. It was a chaotic match, lots of action going on, but I felt that I earned that win, and this championship!

David: Well, only the Freebirds will argue that statement Barry. So, today, right here in our main event, you defend that newly won title against a man you respect highly, Sweet Daddy Siki. How's that going to affect you going into this first title match?

Barry: Yours right, I have a lot of respect for the man. For his ability. It will be a hard fought battle, I just hope I am capable of defending this title.

David; Well, let's get right to it. Main Event time here this week!

Before the action really starts to get going, maybe 3-4 minutes into the match, The Fabulous Freebirds show up and attack both men. The referee calls for the bell. They toss Siki from the ring and post him violently into the ring post. Then all three jump on Barry. Kendall and Sam Houston run out to battle the Freebirds. A number of officials come out to ringside and separate the two factions as Tony and David sign off the air for this week!

Time: 4:26

Decision: No Contest, due to outside interference.

Tremendous catch up work here. I have no problems with the cliffnoted version of the house shows as it makes sense to what you are trying to convey. Also nice to see a little gem like Savage vs Poffo show up as well. I don't know if I ever had any reason to believe in Lanny Poffo, I have never seen him outside of the genius so I don't have the best case to make. Outside of that, some good stuff in MACW and that's a loaded 12-man tag that goes blow for blow with the AWAs.

TV Taping (Shown Saturday, March 3, 1984)

Roanoke, VA

Civic Center

Tony Schivone: Welcome everyone to Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling! Another big show this week. Welcome my friend, David Crockett.

David Crockett: Thank you Tony, you are correct, another big show this week. We have a big tag team grudge match that will main event this week's show! The Strongbow's are here to battle Junkyard Dog and Sweet Daddy Siki!

Tony: Kamala is in action this week! We will hear from the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair, and the United States Champion, Randy Savage.

David: We will also announce full details on Coastal Clash, coming up on March 31, at a closed circuit location near you!

Tony: However, before we take it up to the ring for our opening contest. We have a big announcement to make this week, David.

David: Oh boy, we do! The NWA Board of Directors has given Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling the opportunity to create a new championship. This championship will be decided in a one-night tournament, Saturday, March 10th in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Dorton Arena!

Tony: That championship is the NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. With so many tag teams here in MACW, and super groups like The Fabulous Freebirds as well, the Board decided to give the fans what they want! So with the recent demise of the Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Championship, the board has granted us this chance to crown new champions in a brand new division.

David: It is exciting news! We will have the brackets and team announcements throughout today's show! Right now, let's take it up to the ring.

Six-Man Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Toru Tanaka, Tiger Chung Lee & Hiro Saito (w/ Mr. Fuji) vs Dusty Wolfe, Frank Williams & Tony Devito

Fuji's clan makes quick work of their opponent's this week. Tiger Chung Lee picks up the win with a reverse crescent kick on Wolfe.

Time: 3:02

Decision: Toru Tanaka, Tiger Chung Lee and Hiro Saito

Tony: An impressive win by Mr. Fuji's men. (Fuji and his men make their way to Tony on the set, near the entrance.) Mr. Fuji, with this impressive win today, it seems your clan is ready for six-man tag team action.

Fuji: Ah, Tony-San, we are always ready to fight, main, cripple and destroy all our opponent's. You made big announcement earlier. Let me be the first to announce my Clan as the first entrant's into that championship tournament.

Tony: We were just about to make that announcement.

Fuji: Tony-San, let Master Fuji tell the world. We are the only team they need to know. I've already told the world who the winner's will be, and you are all looking at them right now. (Fuji laughs deviously as they walk off the set and return to the locker room as we go to break.)

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Tony: Earlier in today's show, we told you about the crowning of Six-Man Tag Team Champions next weekend in Raleigh. Right now, we have the announcement of all eight teams that will be included in this one night tournament.

David: That is right, Tony. Right now, we will give you four of those teams, and at the end of the show we will have the other four teams.

Tony: Let's not wait any longer, David, who is team number one?

David: The first team in the tournament is….The Fabulous Freebirds, Terry Gordy, Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts!

Tony: The second team will be Fuji's Clan, Tiger Chung Lee, Toru Tanaka and Hiro Saito. They will have Mr. Fuji in the corner as well!

David: Team number three is Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon along with Pedro Morales!

Tony: Rounding out the first four teams is the team of Pierroth Jr, Blue Demon Jr and their partner, Lanny Poffo!

(Out walks the United States Champion, Randy Savage, along with his new manager, Miss Elizabeth)

Tony: Randy Savage, your interview isn't scheduled just yet. What brings you out here?

Randy: “Macho Man” Randy Savage doesn't work on your time, does he Tony?! Your United States Champion has many many things to do, ohhh yeah!!! and waiting for you to be ready to hear my magical tones isn't worth my time. The Champ is ready now, so let's get to it.

Tony: Well, OK. We found out this morning that at Coastal Clash, you will defend your United States Championship against former champion, Terry Taylor….in a lumberjack match!

Randy: Do you think the “Macho Man” scares that easily, Tony?! Hmmm, I knew about the title match. My manager, the greatest manager of all-time, told me about this championship match. I let her sign it. Ohhh yeaaaa. I did. I don't run from any challenge, do you hear me, Tony? How about you Terry Taylor, do you hear me?! I don't run from anyone! I'm the Champ! I'm the “Macho Man!” Dig it?!

Tony: Well, it has been said that you spend an awful lot of time on the floor during your matches, and on March 31, you will not be able to do that!

Randy: Oh Yeah?! Is that what you think?! I spend all my time of the floor, next to these stupid fans?! I am the greatest wrestler on the planet earth, I fear no one! I rum from no one! It's all part of my master plan, the plan of the madness! Terry Taylor, you think you got me where you want me?! You're wrong! I'm the champ! I will defeat you! Oh, and part of my master plan is this….the greatest manager EVER! She put in our own stipulation. Terry Taylor, you can have your lumberjack match, but when I defeat you, and you know the “Macho Man” will, you will NEVER challenge the champ again! Ohhhhh yeaaa!!!!!

Tony: What?! That's in the contract as well?! (Randy dosen't respond, just grabs Elizabeth and struts off the set with his title belt.) That's a big shocker fans! We'll be right back!

COMMERICAL BREAK

Single's Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Kamala (w/ Skandor Akbar) vs Tony Devito

SQUASH! Big splash. Thank you very much.

Time: 2:21

Decision: Kamala

David: Welcome to our set, Skandor Akbar and his charge, Kamala!

Akbar: Have you ever seen such domination?! My headhunter can not be defeated! He can't even be taken off his feet!

David: He has been extremely dominant since coming to Mid Atlantic, that is correct!

Akbar: I told you, I was going to take over. Kamala is just the first part of my plan. No one wants to challenge my headhunter. He will continue to destroy week after week. This area will fall to my feet! You will all beg me for mercy when I have all the power! All of the control!

David: You are a sick man, Akbar!

Akbar: You will be the first to beg, David.

Akbar calls for Kamala and they leave the set.

Tony: That is one scary twosome. Coming up on the 31st of this month, MACW presents Coastal Clash! Live from the Charlotte Coliseum. If you can't be in Charlotte that evening, you can see the event live as it happens in an arena near you via Closed Circuit! We've already announced the main event of that evening, The NWA World's Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as the champion, Ric Flair, defends his title against the number one challenger, Ricky Steamboat! We've discussed the US Title match, Randy Savage defends the title in a lumberjack match against Terry Taylor. We would like to also announce today that the US Tag Team titles will also be defended as the newly crowned champions, the Moondog's will face off with Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson.

David: There is also a Television Title match, and I can't believe this one has been signed folks, Barry Windham will defend that title again. Stan “The Lariat” Hansen!

Tony: Woah! That's huge fans! Stan Hansen coming to the Mid Atlantic region, and to challenge for the TV title!

David: Up next, the main event, after this break!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

David: Before we head to the ring, let me introduce, the World's Heavyweight Champion, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair!

Flair: Whoooo!!!! THE World's Heavyweight Champion is here. Ricky Steamboat, I'm ready for you! Don't worry, pal. The “Nature Boy” has been all around the world, dining with royalty, putting on main event matches, being more than just the 60-minute man….Whoo!!! One month. Steamboat, you and I, for the World Title. This 15-pounds of solid gold. I have been on the greatest roll of my life, and you will not stop me on the 31st. I will now, and forever….be the man...whhhhoooooooooooo!!!!!

David: Up to the ring for our main event!

Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

Junkyard Dog & Sweet Daddy Siki vs The Strongbow's

Just after the bell rings, this breaks down immediately into a fight. But not even a minute into the match, Skandor Akbar rushes to the ring. He climbs up on the apron, barking out orders. The referee steps in, trying to get him down. Akbar nails the referee and pulls the referee out of the ring. Kamala appears and attacks JYD and Siki. The referee gets back up and calls for the bell. Kamala and the Strongbow's attacking both men. The Strongbow's hold down JYD for Kamala so he can give him the big splash. Sivi Afi appears to try to help, but the numbers don't let him. Strongbow's hold down Siki and Kamala gives him the big splash. Afi is the next victim as he gets the big splash too. A number of referee's and officials appear to break up the chaos.

Time: 39 Seconds

Decision: JYD and Siki via DQ

Tony: What a chaotic way to end the show! We still have to announce the last four teams for the tournament next weekend!

David: The referee's have the ring under control now, they are attending to JYD, Siki and Sivi. In a sad twist, those three are the fifth team to be in the tournament. Hopefully they will be physically able to compete next week.

Tony: Well, I had heard that Akbar had entered a team into the tournament. We haven't had an official announcement, but looking at what happened here, the sixth team looks to be Kamala with the Strongbow's, being lead by Skandor Akbar.

David: The seventh team, is The Grappler's with Rip Rogers.

Tony: The last team, The Windham's with their good friend, Sam Houston! What a tournament this should be David!

David: Just a week away, in Raleigh! Join us next week as we preview that show and continue to discuss Coastal Clash! See you next week!!

David: In first round action, The Fabulous Freebirds will take on the team of Blue Demon Jr, Pierroth Jr and Lanny Poffo.

Tony: The next pairing will see the heated grudge match of the tournament, Junkyard Dog, Sivi Afi and Sweet Daddy Siki battle Akbar’s men of Kamala, the Ugandan Headhunter and his partners Jay and Jules Strongbow.

David: In the other bracket, Mr. Fuji’s clan of evil henchmen, Tiger Chung Lee, Toru Tanaka and Hiro Saito will wrestle The Windham Brothers and their regular tag team partner, Sam Houston!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Tag Team Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

The Moondogs vs Italian Stallion & Tony DeVito

Quick match by the champions, as they defeat the Stallion with a double head butt to get the win.

Time: 4:45

Decision: The Moondogs

Tony: Pat Patterson and Ray Stevens. We saw that you watched that last match from the entrance way before you made your way over to us here. What are your thoughts on the United States Tag Team Champions?

Ray Stevens: Those losers? Yeah, they can beat some lowlife scums. But do they really think they have a chance against us?

Pat Patterson: We are the best tag team in wrestling. No one has our credental. No other tag team in wrestling has our experience, has our knowledge. It is just a matter of time before we are champion!

Ray: Time is ticking on those Moondogs. We will get our title match and we will walk away with that gold. That day is March 31. That place is Coastal Clash in Charlotte. Moondogs, your days are numbered.

Tony: We will be right back after this break!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

David: Welcome to the set, the number one challenger to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Ricky Steamboat!

Ricky: Thank you David, it’s a pleasure to be here.

David: In just a few weeks, Ricky, you challenge for the World Title in the biggest match of your career. It will be shown all over the Mid Atlantic region on Closed Circuit TV! And you know that news of this event will travel all around the world. Are you nervous at all?

Ricky: You know David, I am. It is a major deal in my career. Chances like this don’t come along very often, if at all. I am focused, and ready for the challenge. I’ve been in the ring with Ric Flair many times, I know what he is all about. This will be the biggest challenge of my career.

David: I understand that you will be doing commentary with us on this next contest, featuring the World Champion.

Ricky: That is correct, I have come here to study my opponent a little more. What better way to see the champion then calling the action with you and Tony.

David: Let’s not wait any longer, and take it to the ring.

Non-Title Single’s Match, One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit

NWA World Champion, Ric Flair vs Terry Gibbs

The Champ does his thing, strutting around the ring. Woooing to the crowd. As the action begins, he settles into his pace of a match, and within just a few minutes, makes Gibbs submit to the figure-four leglock.

Time: 5:22

Decision: Ric Flair

David: What an impressive win by the World Champion!

Ricky: I would agree, David. Flair isn’t the champion by accident. He may be arrogant but he is on top of his game. That figure-four leglock is devastating.

Ric Flair struts onto the set with the three.

Flair: Whoooo!!!!! How’d you like that, Steamboat?! Wooo!!! You’ve seen first hand what the champ can do. I wouldn’t blame you, if you just wanted to back out of the match right now. Have you come to your senses?

Steamboat: Flair, you know me better than that! You won your match, convincingly, just as a World Champion would do. However, that just makes me want to work hard, work longer to get you into that ring and defeat you for that World Heavyweight Championship!

Flair: Keeping dreamin’ Pal! Whoooo!!!

Flair struts off the set.

Steamboat: His cockiness will be his downfall, David. I will be the newly crowned World Champion in Charlotte.

David: Thank you Ricky for joining us out here today!

Steamboat: Thank you, it was my pleasure.

David: Raleigh, North Carolina, join us TONIGHT! We will have brand new champions crowned!

Tony: We will have a TV camera on hand to capture the action! We will have a few highlights next week!
