· MATCH OF THE WEEK: Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Hercules Hernandez

Dave Brown takes us to VTR of the match from Nashville Tennessee at the Municipal Auditorium. As one would expect, it was a brawl with two of the most powerful men in all of wrestling. The match ended when Sir Oliver Humperdink tossed his walking stick into Hercules Hernandez but it was intercepted by Reed who used it to pummel Hernandez. Ref Paul Morton disqualified Reed but one can bet that this will not be the last time these two go toe to toe.

· TAG TEAM OF THE WEEK: The Shogunate

The group of Tojo Yamamoto, Mr. Saito and Killer Khan had a perfect week going 3-0 including a huge win over The Fabulous Ones when Tojo, who was not official involved in the match, tripped up Stan Lane and Saito followed it up with a Saito Suplex.

· Wrestler of the Week: Crusher Ottman

The newest member of the House of Humperdink used his size to pummel some of the talent in the USWA. Ottman wrestled in 3 Handicap Matches and was able to win all of these 2 on 1 matches in under 5 minutes including a mauling of Brett Wayne and Ted Allen in Oxford, Mississippi at the CM Smith Coliseum.

· USWA VOLUME #1

MATCH: The Iron Curtain (Korstia Korchenko, Alexis Smirnoff and Kris Markov vs The Fort Bragg Brotherhood (Pvt. Kernodle and Cpl. Kirchner) and Skip Young.

The match gets the crowd into right away. It is USA vs Russia and that evokes such emotion. The Iron Curtain comes to the ring waving the flag of the Soviet Union and the fans really let them have it. Kernodle comes to the ring wearing a USA bandana and he has extras which he tosses to the crowd. The Iron Curtain waste no time and attacks before the bell. It is a wild scene for about 5 minutes as the Russians are pummeling the Americans. The action finally settles down but The Russians are still in control. All of a sudden the House of Humperdink walk out to ringside. The site of Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer, Hercules Hernandez and Crusher Ottman seems to be making the Iron Curtain nervous. Korchenko lost focus and went to the ropes to yell at Humperdink’s stable and Sweet Brown Sugar snuck up from behind and gained the victory by an old fashion roll up. The House of Humperdink seem happy and walk away with a smug, mission accomplished smile on their faces. The Iron Curtain is beside themselves and again attack their opponents but this time the Americans are ready for them and wipe the mat with them. The fans go wild and are chanting USA, USA as Gordon Solie calls for our next break.

MATCH: USWA NATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

The Sheepherders vs Brett Wayne and Ted Allen

The Sheepherders are flawless and ruthless in this match. It surprised many at how easily they won. The end came when Luke Williams grabbed his partner’s head and used it as a battering ram on Ted Allen.

The Sheepherders head to the interview desk where they are irate. Williams leads the way saying how Jerry Jarrett is trying everything to take their titles. He is really agitated that The Fabulous Ones have been named the new # contenders for the belts. Miller they just beat them in the Omni and they refuse to wrestle Lane and Keirn again.

This brings Jerry Jarrett to the interview desk where he tells the Sheepherders that if they do not wrestle The Fabulous Ones at Memphis Roundhouse Revival, they will be stripped of their tittles. The Sheepherders off yelling and screaming.

Gordon Solie, smiling, announces “we will be right back after these messages.

MATCH: Jimmy Valiant vs Dirty Dutch Mantel with Rock Riddle

Dirty Dutch is trying to aid Austin Idol, another member of the Perfect Stable. Idol is to face Valiant for the World Title on August 23rd at Roundhouse Revival. Jerry Jarrett said last week if any member of the Perfect Stable laid a hand on Valiant at any time other than a sanctioned match, Idol would be stripped of his title.

As far as the match goes, it is a wild one with many momentum turns. As Valiant seemed to gain control, the other members of the Perfect Stable, Idol and Bobby Jaggers, came to ringside trying to intimidate Valiant. The Boogie Woogie Man paid them no mind as he knew they couldn’t interfere in the match. He follows up a big bodyslam with a diving elbow and gained the pin over Mantell at 13:10. After the match, he walked right by the rest of the stable to the interview desk. As only the Boogie Woogie man can, he starts ranting about how he can’t wait to get Idol in the ring and did those “daddy O’s” think they were going to bother me tonight. He tells the fans that they are all invited to his party after he wins the World Heavyweight Title and together they will party like “Charlie Brown from Outta Town.” Lance Russell seems confused but says it sounds like fun.

Piper’s Pit with Special Guests Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson

EryMgg8s.jpg?2

Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and stand behind him with their arms folded.

Piper calls out Patterson and Ladd and they both shake hands with Piper. Piper praises the two for a few minutes about their wrestling ability but also how they don’t bow down to the low life American fans, the smug USWA Board of Directors, and most importantly, to the untrustworthy American Government. Patterson and Ladd agree with everything Piper has to say and they can’t believe how corrupt this country is and all they are trying to do is to get a fair shake in their own county. All three admit to being totally confused at how those out of shape, no good country hicks, Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler are given such favoritism here in the USWA. The segment turns to Hacksaw Butch Reed and Mr. USA, Tony Atlas and all three begin to almost foam at the mouth in such anger. Ladd and Patterson say that they will not stop until those Uncle Toms are out of the USWA and Piper agrees to help. The three embrace as the segment ends.

The fans are a little nervous at the merger of these three men. They know from experience that Reed and Atlas better have eyes behind their backs.

MATCH: Mr. Saito vs Steve Simpson

Mr. Saito truly beats on Steve Simpson beyond belief. Suplex after Suplex is followed with Saito pulling Simpson up after a count of two as he refused to allow the pin. After the 3rd time, the crowd starts to go wild as a white towel is thrown in and Jerry Lawler hits the ring and chase Saito away. Wildfire Rich follows but can’t do much due to the fact that he is on crutches.

Rich and Lawler aid Simpson who is finally able to get to his feet. Other wrestlers help guide Simpson to the back as Lawler and Rich go to the interview desk where they basically call Saito everything they can get away with on TV. Rich wants Saito to come back out and guarantees that there is no way that bully Saito would beat him like that and that it didn’t matter if he was on crutches or not. . He says Saito is just a bully and deep down, Saito is nothing but a yellow bellied coward and like most bullies they only pick on the weak.

Lawler says that he will get his revenge on the Shogunate at the Memphis Roundhouse Revival and that all the members are like all the other Japanese people he has ever met. COWARDS! Lawler continues on talking about sneak attacks and Pearl Harbor and then turns his attention to tonight’s World Title Match against Idol. He keeps saying how wonderful it would be to be both the World Champion and The World Tag Team Champion at the same time. Rich, also smiling, says he will be right there by his partner’s side when from out of nowhere, Saito, Killer Khan and Tojo Yamamoto attack from behind. The 3 on 2 advantage, along with Rich on one leg and the attack from behind, gives them control of this chaotic situation. Wrestlers rush from the back to break up the mayhem but not before Tojo uses Rich’s crutch as a weapon and nails both Wildfire and Lawler over the head and back.

Before the next match, Solie and Russell announce the fact that both Lawler and Rich are receiving medical attention in the back and that tonight’s main event between Lawler and Idol for the World Title is in jeopardy.

Match: Hacksaw Reed vs Baron Von Raschke

In another good match, Reed finally gains control of the match after a huge body slam and has Baron up for a Gorilla Press Slam when Ernie Ladd walks out to the ring. Reed just drops Von Raschke and starts to have words with Ladd. Thunderbolt Patterson joins Ladd at ringside and now the two start to creep up towards the apron as the Baron regains his feet. Baron begins to walk towards Reed and lifts his right hand in the air to signify the Iron Claw. As Reed turns around, Baron moves in for his finisher but Reed sees it at the last minute and grabs the hand of Baron. Reed than kicks him in the mid-section. He quickly lifts Von Raschke up into another Gorilla Press Slam but this time walks towards the ropes with him and tosses him over the ropes right onto Ladd and Patterson. Ref Paul Morton proceeds to make the 10 count and Reed wins by count-out. Tony Atlas rushes to the ring to make sure nobody attacks Reed. There is a bit of a standoff but cooler heads prevail.

Gordon Solie tells the fans how lucky Reed was to escape tonight uninjured. Russell agrees and wonders if Lawler is going to be able to wrestle in the main event which is up next.

Match: USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: AUSTIN IDOL with Rock Riddle VS JERRY LAWLER

Idol and Riddle come to the ring first and are both even more smug than normally as neither of them thinks Lawler will even make it to the ring. All of a sudden, the crowd goes wild as Lawler appears. Their enthusiasm quickly turns to concern as they see Lawler has a bandage around his head and is limping badly. They fear he will get injured even more if he gets in the ring.

Rich also bandaged, heads to the interview desk where he continues to show his anger at the Shogunate.

As for the match, it is one of the more lopsided Lawler/Idol matches of all time. Lawler just doesn’t have anything going but his actions are commendable. Idol hits him with everything he has but Lawler refuses to get pinned or to submit. Idol’s frustration grows and grows till he finally can’t take it anymore. Riddle picks up a chair and throws it to Idol. Wildfire Rich starts yelling to his partner to watch out but he doesn’t head to the ring to aid him. His injuries the last two weeks have him to hurt to be able to help his Lawler.

WHAM! Idol nails Lawler with the chair over and over again. Ref Jerry Calhoun calls for the bell as Gordon Solie announces that “We are out of time. So long from Memphis.

As the screen fades to black, the national audience is left watching Lawler face down on the mat not moving.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/1/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

5:05-6:05

TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

47BZr7X.jpg?3

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s ring in our first guest.”

Jerry Lawler and Tommy Rich, still bandaged up from last night’s attack open the show at the interview desk.

Lance Russell begins by asking about their health. Both admit to being a little banged up but say they will be ready for to defend their USWA World Tag Titles in a few weeks against the Shogunate. Lawler then changes the direction of the interview and focuses on Austin Idol who hit him with a chair last night. Lawler is pipping mad but also has a smirk on his face as he says he is wondering what it must be like to be Austin Idol today. Lawler says he came into last night’s match just moments after being beaten 3 on 1 by the Shogunate. His head was bandages, he was hobbling on one foot and still Idol couldn’t beat him. Lawler says if, and that is a big if, Idol is still the champ after he faces Jimmy Valiant at Roundhouse Revival, Lawler will get the next title shot and that Idol better just hand him the belt.

Gordon Solie thanks them for their time and says it is time to head to the ring for the first match of the night which includes the #1 contenders for the USWA National Tag Titles, The Fabulous Ones.

Match: The Fabulous Ones vs The Nightmares

Just like last night when the Sheepherders manhandled their opponents, tonight the Fabulous Ones are in complete control. The match ends when Steve Keirn tags in Stan Lane. Keirn scoops up Nightmare #1 onto his shoulders while Lane climbs to the top rope. Lane comes off with a top rope clothesline and that is all she wrote.

The Fabulous Ones high five their fans on their way to the interview desk where they say that don’t care what the Sheepherders say about not giving them another title shot. They say Jerry Jarrett said whoever won last week between them and the House of Humperdink would receive the title shot at Roundhouse Revival and they one. They continue on about the only reason the Sheepherders don’t want to face them is that they are afraid.

kuqXtxQ.jpg?2

Sir Oliver Humperdink and Crusher Ottman are at the interview desk where Lance Russell asks him what his complaint is this weak. Humperdink tells Pencil Nose to Shut Up but that he does have a few complaints. First, he is sick and tired of The Iron Curtain commies interfering in his matches. He can’t wait to get them in the ring and get even with that low life Korchenko and his “comrades,” Smirnoff and Markov.

Next, as usual, Humperdink is all over Jerry Jarrett for not giving his team of Sawyer and Hernandez a title shot at Roundhouse Revival. He is sick and tired of this organization keeping his men down because they don’t like him. They know if his House ever gets a title shot or two, they would be in complete control of all the belts in the USWA.

Humperdink says that Crusher Ottman is now going to show these fans what he can do. He reminds Lance Russell and Gordon Solie that Ottman has only been training with him for a few weeks and he is already unbeatable. He continues on saying that his opponent, Mr. Bigelow, has been trained by the ”King” Jerry Lawler for months and has like two wins.

Gordon Solie says, “fair enough Mr. Humperdink. It is time to get to the ring. Mr. Bigelow is already waiting.”

MATCH: Crusher Ottman with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Bam Bam Bigelow

Now this is a match between two big men. Ottman 6’3, 385 and Bigelow checks in at 6’4 3’40. The first few minutes each wrestler tries to bully the other with his power but that turns out to be a stalemate. Bigelow, who is very agile for his size, catches Ottman off-guard with an amazing drop kick for his size. He follows this up with a diving head-butt. Humperdink is beside himself as his man might go down to this wild and untamed rookie. Humperdink helps in any way he can. After a recovery by Ottman, he whips Bigelow into the ropes and catches him in a Bearhug. Bigelow tries everything to break the hold but can’t get free. After a moment. Ottman actually runs with Bigelow in his arms and slams him into the turnbuckle. Ottman covered him for the 3 count and he escapes with the victory at 9:31.

Once again, Jerry Lawler comes to the interview desk and is clapping his hands! Lance Russell says he understands that his man Bigelow had a pretty good match but he is surprised at how happy Lawler is with a loss. Lawler starts to speak and says last night, Dave Brown made it sound like two men at once couldn’t beat Ottman and tonight, his rookie trainer almost beat him.

Humperdink heads to the interview desk where he really let’s Lawler have it and puts down Bigelow as a good for nothing fat slob! Lawler continues to laugh and laugh. Finally, Humperdink asks what Lawler is laughing about. Lawler just asks if Humperdink called Bigelow a good for nothing fat slob. Humperdink says he did and there is nothing he can do about it.

Lawler once again begins to smile and says his could for nothing friend in the ring was actually good for $5000. Humperdink asks what Lawler is talking about. Lawler says that on the first night of USWA Wrestling, Humperdink said that any man that could last 5 minutes with any of his men would win $5000 and that last match lasted over 9 minutes. The crowd goes wild as Humperdink says that match was not announces as a challenge match and that he is not going to pay anything. This brings Jerry Jarrett out and he demands Humperdink pay Bigelow $5000 or else they will garnish his wages. Humperdink yells and screams about how Jarrett is just out to get him and that he is going to sue the USWA for everything it is worth. Jarrett just says another week, another law suit by you. He then asks Humperdink how many of these ridiculous lawsuits he has one. Humperdink says nothing and Jarrett finishes the segment by saying PAY UP OR ELSE!

MATCH: DIRTY DUTCH MANTELL with ROCK RIDDLE VS PVT. DON KERNODLE

The match was really entertaining. These two have been wrestling mostly in tag matches of late but this singles match really amped up the crowd. The end came when Ref Paul Morton was knocked down which allowed Rock Riddle to trip Kernodle. Dutch used this to his advantage as he hit back to back leaping elbows to the head of Kernodle. Morton recovered in time to see the cover and counted out Kernodle. Dutch celebrated in the ring when all of a sudden Baron Von Raschke and The Spoiler hit the ring and really gave it to Kernodle. Baron, with his raspy voice could be heard calling Kernodle nothing but a weak and pathetic American. CPL Kirchner rushed in to aid his partner but the ClawMasters for the second straight week ran away to the locker room.

MAIN EVENT: MR. USA TONY ATLAS AND HACKSAW BUTCH REED

VS ROWDY RODDY PIPER AND ERNIE LADD

After last week’s Piper’s Pit where Ladd and Piper agreed to help each other rid USWA of Atlas and Reed, this match was inevitable. The match was wild as the fan favorites used some big power moves early in the match but they were never able to gain a pin. Piper and Ladd did what they do best. BREAK EVERY RULE IN THE BOOK! From low blows to throwing their opponents into the steel barricades, Ladd and Piper were giving the muscle bound favorites everything they could. With TV time winding down, Atlas escaped a double team and tagged in Reed who hit the ring like a bull in a china closet. He quickly emptied the ring and neither Piper nor Ladd seemed in hurray to get back in. When Piper finally did, Reed was still in complete control. He caught Piper in a backbreaker rack and as Ladd tried to make the save, Atlas close lined him. Piper was screaming and looked ready to submit when Thunderbolt Patterson hit the ring causing the DQ. Sweet Brown Sugar soon rushed to the ring making it 3 on 3 until the Sheepherders and Fabulous Ones rushed to the ring and 10 superstars battled it out. Just before the show came to an end and with Lance Russell saying you cannot believe the mayhem we just had, the fan favorites, to the delight of the crowd gained control of the ring.

Gordon Solie ends the show with “So long from Memphis.”

The Credits roll while the chaos continues. The screen fades to black.

4/2/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

11:05-12:05

TAPED IN DALLAS, TEXAS

jcysDrs.jpg?1

Dave Brown welcomes all the fans to the first ever TNT Wrestling show from the World’s most Famous Wrestling Arena, the Sportatorium. He says that tonight’s show will begin by bringing in the President of TNT Wrestling, none other than the great Fritz VonErich.

3yYlqZR.jpg?2

Fritz walks to the interview desk and says it is a great pleasure to be back in Dallas, Texas, the home of the greatest wrestling fans in the World. Dave Brown says that it has been a tough couple of months for you Fritz.

Fritz agrees and goes through how WCCW lost its TV contract and how his sons headed down to Florida and of course the death of David. He says he basically went into a shell and was in a dark place but he knew the only way out was to get back into wrestling. That’s when he came up with an idea to start a new wrestling promotion in the two best wrestling states in the country, Texas and Tennessee. He said it only took a minute or two to name his new promotion TNT.

Fritz goes into how Jerry Jarrett came down to his home in Denton, Texas and offered him a chance to become a full member in the USWA. Fritz says that he knew the USWA was new but he liked everything about it and that he jumped on board. He says Jarrett basically gave him everything he could want including appearances by the World Champions and a weekly show right here on the great WTBS.

Fritz goes into saying that in just a week’s time he has been able to build a great roster and the fans can just sit back and see some of the great stars from Texas and Tennessee along with some really exciting newcomers.

All of a sudden the USWA World Heavyweight Champion, Austin Idol and his manager Rock Riddle come out to the interview desk. Fritz says it is a pleasure to have the champ here in the Sportatorium.

W3ako9N.jpg?1 DLYLx52.jpg?1

Idol simple waves off Fritz and it seems he is disgusted by the whole thing. He begins by saying that only rednecks could call this dump the greatest wrestling arena in the world. He goes on to say that there are only make shift benches, no air conditioning and a tin roof like a barn or something. Rock Riddle, the original “Mr. Perfect,” goes on to say that this is no place for the Perfect Stable to be and if the USWA did not make him come down here, he wouldn’t be within a 100 miles of this dump.

The fans are all over Idol but he just continues. He says that Jerry Jarrett sent him down here to put on a non-title match against anyone Fritz thinks is worthy, Idol says that he is used to wrestling the greatest in the world and if Fritz could hurry up and get Average Joe or Fat Matt out here so he can get on with his life.

Fritz says that Idol will be surprised at the roster here and that he shouldn’t take his opponent lightly. Idol dismisses this idea and says that he guarantees that he will win in under 5 minutes or else on his next mandated trip here, he will put his title on the line. Fritz quickly says “deal” as Idol and Riddle head to the ring.

All of a sudden, Superstar Bill Dundee and a very attractive amazon like blonde head to the ring. The crowd roars as Idol’s mouth drops. Idol is in disbelieve that his longtime rival is his opponent and Riddle is heard yelling that this was all a set up by Jerry Jarrett.

MATCH: USWA WORLD CHAMP AUSTIN IDOL with ROCK RIDDLE

VS SUPERSTAR BILL DUNDEE AND A TALL BLONDE WOMEN

39kAYp5.jpg?2 nDd45Zx.jpg?1

Idol never expected this but tried to jump Dundee before the bell sounded by Dundee was ready for him. The brawl was on and Dundee was in complete control. As the five minute mark neared which would give Dundee a title shot, Riddle tried to get involve by distracting the ref. The tall blonde quickly came behind Riddle and threw a huge right hand to the back of his head. Riddle went down as the crowd went wild. Dundee continued to throw Idol from pillar to post. Dundee tossed Idol over the top rope and was about to go out after him but Idol had different thoughts. He just ran with Riddle to the locker room and was counted out.

Dundee and the tall blonde head over to Fritz and Dave Brown. Brown asks Dundee to introduce him to this stunning women with him. Dundee goes on to say that this Perfect 10 was Baby Doll and while Idol had Riddle to save his butt, he now has Baby Doll to make sure no one interferes in his matches anymore. He thanks Fritz for the opportunity to wrestle in TNT and says he can’t wait to get his hands on Idol again and become the World Champ. Dundee and Baby Doll, who dwarfs Dundee walk off arm in arm.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH: OX BAKER VS WENDELL COOLEY

A complete squash match where Baker just beats Cooley all over the ring. The match ends when Baker uses his taped right hand to deliver a brutal Heart Punch.

V1HRaGU.jpg?1

Ox Baker goes to the interview desk where he doesn’t wait for a question. He just grabs the mic and begins to say that Fritz doesn’t know what he has done be giving him a contract. He announces that his is the baddest wrestler in the business and that he enjoys hurting people. Winning is not the most important thing. Pain is the most important thing. He announces that when people come to see him wrestle they better be warned that he is trying to permanently injure his opponent. He says his heart punch is so brutal that his opponent is lucky if he lives. He announces that he is here to become the first ever TNT Champion and that the entire TNT roster better be careful.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

At the interview desk with Brown and Fritz is the masked Dream Machine. He gives a little background information on himself saying that he just got finished beating Ernie Ladd all over Memphis.

All of a sudden, the speakers begin to blare that unmistakable music of the Blues Brothers.

pLpEPpbs.jpg

None other than Porkchop Cash, wearing a black suit and sunglasses, comes to the interview desk. The Dream Machine looks ready to fight and Cash tells him to “hold on brother. I am here to say I was wrong in Memphis. I was a fool to listen to that idiot Ernie Ladd.” Cash continues by asking Machine what he would think of getting the “Band back together.” Machine ponders for a moment and then gets so excited he hugs Porkchop Cash. The Dream Machine announces to the fans that they are in for a treat. “The Bruise Brothers are back together and we are now going to show these fans what they are all about. The beg Fritz to get them a match right now and he tells them to go to the ring and he will go to the back to see what he can do.

Fritz returns and tells the fans to hold on to their hats. This is going to be a wild one!

MATCH: The Bruise Brothers vs Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody

1ZYNZhe.jpg?1

This match is an all-out brawl with the fighting taking place as much on the outside of the ring as the inside. Eventually after about 5 minutes of total chaos and all 4 men being in the battle at the same time, the ref calls for the bell and rules this contest a double disqualification. This seems to have no impact on the 4 men involved. They just continue to brawl. The locker room empties and about 10 guys poor out but they still have trouble restoring order. Finally, the mayhem subsides as they cut to break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH: MIL MASCARAS VS KEN TIMBS

YFnJtZp.jpg?1

A pretty good match that both Dave Brown and Fritz VonErich really get excited by some of the aerial acrobatics of Mil Mascaras. Finally the “Man of a Thousand Masks” wins the match after a perfectly executed Suicide Dive from the top rope. The fans are going nuts as Mil is a true showman.

Mil goes to the interview desk where he announces that he is the best trained, the best conditioned and that there is no opponent that can beat him. He wants to thank the fans for their support and hopes he can do them justice. He then speaks in Spanish where those that understand him give him a great round of applause.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

The music begins to blare as the audience is treated to Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff.”

rlXRSxj.jpg?1 AYCEsq0.jpg?1

Eddie Gilbert makes his way to the ring and he is joined by none other than one of the best female wrestlers in the world as well as being one of the sexiest women in the world, Sensational Sherri Martel! They strut to the ring arm in arm and Sherri help’s Gilbert into the ring. She gets right in the face of Gilbert’s opponent, Steve Simpson. Simpson is an impressive young talent with muscles from head to toe but this does not seem to intimidate either Sherri or Gilbert. When the match gets under way, Simpson makes a good showing but in the end the team of Sherri and Gilbert prove to be just too much. Anytime Simpson got anything going, Martell would distract the ref anyway she could and that was pretty easy for her to do. Gilbert took these opportunities to break some rules and he finally weakened Simpson enough to nail him with a DDT for the victory.

With time winding down, Hot Stuff and Sensational Sherri head to the interview desk where they basically announce that they are the hottest couple in all of wrestling. They tell everyone to forget what they saw earlier and that Dundee and Baby Doll are not in their league.

Dundee and Baby Doll come on out and the two “couples” get in each other’s faces as the credits begin to roll.

Dave Brown is heard saying “So long from the Sportatorium. Don’t forget to tune in next week for another great show.”

USWA WRESTLING: 4/7/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

6:05-8:05

TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

47BZr7X.jpg?4

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie and Dave Brown. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s get right to it

Lance Russell and Gordon Solie welcome fans to the Saturday night show on WTBS and they both take turns congratulating Dave Brown on his new position as the host of TNT Wresting in Dallas, Texas which can be seen each and every Tuesday right here at 11:05.

Gordon Solie gives a quick update on the wrestling spectacular to take place right here in Memphis on April 23rd. The event is being billed as Memphis Roundhouse Revival and all USWA Champions will be in action.

Lance Russell continues to push USWA VOLUME #1 which is now available on VHS and is being offered for just $19.95. This great video contains over 5 hours of non-stop action that includes matches with all your favorite superstars.

Gordon Solie gives an INJURY UPDATE on Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and his injured leg and announces he will once again be unable to wrestle for at least another week.

As Lance begins to run down tonight’s card. Austin Idol, the World Champ and Rock Riddle comes out to the set. Solie asks “what do we owe this pleasure to. “ Riddle tells Solie to be quiet and his “Perfect” Champ” has something to say. Idol goes on to announce that he is sick and tired of all these gnats that call themselves wrestles coming for his title. He gives a double bicep pose and says he understands why everyone wants to be him. From the limo rides to all the pretty girls, his life is just a dream. He doesn’t care if it is Jimmy Valiant, Jerry Lawler or that little man down in Dallas, Superstar Dundee, he is going to beat them all.

With that Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Valiant strut out to the desk and are all smiles. Idol and Riddle asks what in their pathetic lives do they have to smile about. Lawler reminds Riddle that he and Dundee are good friends and asks the “Original Mr. Perfect” how it felt to be knocked out by the “Perfect 10.” Riddle goes nuts at the reference to how Baby Doll laid him out in Texas last Tuesday. Riddle and Idol threaten to attack Lawler and Valiant right here but that seems to be just an “idol” threat. Jerry Jarrett has said if any member of the Perfect Stable lays a hand on Valiant before their match, Idol will be stripped of his title. Riddle tells Idol it is time to go and they walk off set and Lawler and Valiant make chicken noises.

Gordon Solie says we will be right back with some in ring action.

COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS

__________________________________________________________________________

Kris Markov and Korstia Korchenko are at the interview desk where both are speaking in with a Russian accent, announce that they can’t wait to meet Humperdink’s team of Sawyer and Hernandez in just a moment.

Solie tells them to be careful what they wish for as Hernandez and Sawyer are double nasty.

Markov says it doesn’t matter how big or good they are. They are Americans. All Americans are stupid and that he guarantees that they will beat Sawyer and Hernandez.

MATCH: Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Korstia Korchenko and Chris Markov.

This match gets the fans right into the show from the beginning. While The Iron Curtain has only been in the USWA for a short time, any team waving the flag of the Soviets and screaming about how pathetic the United States is gets a great reaction. In fact, the Russians are so disliked that the fans are actually cheering for the House of Humperdink.

As for the match, Hernandez and Sawyer are liked caged animals and they are really having their way with the Russians. Hernandez appears on the verge of victory as he has Korchenko locked in the Backbreaker Rack when all of a sudden Alexis Smirnoff rushes out and attacks Humperdink. Hernandez drops Korchenko and goes to aid his manager. Hernandez is all over Smirnoff but loses focus as ref Paul Morton counts him out. The Iron Curtain wins the bout and are celebrating in the ring as Hernandez chases Smirnoff to the back. This gives the other two and opportunity to beat on Buzz Sawyer for a minute until Crusher Ottman rushes out to save Sawyer. The Iron Curtain beat a hasty retreat.

Sir Oliver Humperdink, Buzz Sawyer and Crusher Ottman head to the interview desk where Humperdink asks Pencil Nose not to speak but to listen for once in his life. He goes on to say that he is sick and tired of The So Called Iron Curtain and that the USWA is not big enough for both teams. He announces that Jerry Jarrett must do something or else he promises that someone is going to get hurt very, very badly and that somebody is the commie Korstia Korchenko. Humperdink tells the rest of the stable to go and find Korchenko and his comrades now and prove his point. Ottman and Sawyer are practically foaming at the mouth as they head to the back.

Lance Russell tells the fans that he hopes cooler heads will prevail and that they will be right back after this break.

Match: The Clawmasters (Von Raschke and The Spoiler) vs Brett Wayne and Ted Allen

The match was back and forth for a few minutes but Brett Wayne got a little excited too quickly and went for a frog splash on The Spoiler too early. The Spoiler rolled out of the way and was able to get up for the tag and the Baron went to work on Wayne and ended it with a Brain Claw. The Clawmasters were a little upset that they had trouble with this team and continued the beating for a minute or two after the bell.

After the match the Clawmasters went to the interview desk where they told the studio audience to look at the carnage they had left in the ring. They then turned the interview to PVT. Kernodle and Cpl. Kirchner and how they would be their next victims and that no lowly American Army Brats could ever handle their wrath of destruction. The Spoiler goes on to remind the fans that the last time he faced Kernodle and caught him in the Brain Claw that Kernodle nearly died. There was so much blood running down his face that they had to censor the match and that is exactly what will happen again.

As Gordon Solie leads us into break, he tells the Clawmasters “Fair enough,” and seems to have had enough of their presence.

MATCH: Jimmy Valiant vs Bobby Jaggers with Rock Riddle

This week, it will be Jaggers trying to hurt Valiant in an effort to aid Austin Idol, another member of the Perfect Stable. Idol is to face Valiant for the World Title on August 23rd at Roundhouse Revival. Jerry Jarrett said two weeks ago that if any member of the Perfect Stable laid a hand on Valiant at any time other than a sanctioned match, Idol would be stripped of his title.

As far as the match goes, it is a wild one with many momentum turns. As Valiant seemed to gain control, Jaggers intentionally throws Valiant into ref Paul Morton. With Morton down, Jaggers goes absolutely nuts. He tosses Valiant to the floor and starts to beat him with a chair. Valiant is in serious trouble as Jaggers tosses him into the ring. He has no interest in getting a pin but in injuring the Boogie Woogie Man. Rock Riddle is yelling instructions as Jaggers goes to the corner and grabs his bull rope and straps it around the neck of Valiant. Lance Russell is heard saying OH NO, WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE! WE BETTER GET SOME HELP OUT HERE. Jaggers runs Valiant towards the ropes and tosses him over but hold on to the bull rope. Valiant is now being hanged over the top rope as Jaggers ties the rope to the turnbuckle. Gordon Solie is heard saying, “And it looks like… yes indeed, it is Jerry Lawler and Bam Bam Bigelow rushing to the ring. Jaggers runs off hoping the damage has been down. Lawler and Bigelow quickly untie Valiant and lay him down on the mat Lawler is yelling to get some medical attention down here and Solie says we better take a break

Lawler is at the interview desk with Bigelow and the still injured Tommy Rich. They are yelling their heads off about Idol and the Perfect Stable and that Jaggers better never let them get their hands on him. They continue to foam at the mouth and you can tell they really want a piece of the Perfect Stable. Lance Russell says he completely understands but now they must get to their next segment. Lawler, Rich and Bigelow head off.

Piper’s Pit with Special Guests the Sheepherders

EryMgg8s.jpg?2

Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and instead of standing behind him with their arms folded, they take their place in the folding chairs.

This entire segment is a lovefest between Piper and The Sheepherders. They belittle the USWA. They belittle American but most of all, they belittle The Fabulous Ones. The Sheepherders get so worked up at even the mention of their names that they begin to punch each other. Piper is saying that you must be nuts to want to get in the ring with the Sheepherders. They cause massive destruction wherever they go. Miller and Williams just continue to brawl with each other as the blood begins to flow but the strangest thing is occurring. THEY ARE SMILING! They seem to love the blood. They seem to love the pain! Piper goes on to explain that this is the differences between the Sheepherders and the Fabulous Ones. Lane and Keirn want to dance their way to the ring. They want to hug the fans. They want to wear their fancy costumes. Piper continues that they better want to take a vacation because after the match between The Sheepherders, who are now a bloody mess, the Fabulous Ones will be on a permanent vacation.

MATCH: Mr. Saito and Killer Khan Vs Wendell Cooley and Steve Simpson

Tojo accompanies his stable mates to the ring and does a good job of antagonizing the crowd. The match is pretty one sided and comes to the end after Killer Khan sprays the Asian Green Mist into the eyes of Cooley and follows it up with a Cobra Clutch that puts Cooley’s lights out.

The Shogunate head to the interview desk where Tojo tells Mis-tah Toomy Rich to make sure he says hurt if he knows what is good for him. Tojo said he respected Toomy Rich 5 years ago when he would do anything to win. Now he is soft! Look at how easy Mistah Saito and Mistah Khan hurt you the last two weeks. Do yourself a favor and just hand us the World Tag Championship if you know what is good for you. He continues to tell Mis-tah Lawler the same thing while Saito just stands there, arms folded while Khan paces back and forth and makes some grunting sounds. Lance Russell seems really concerned for Lawler and Rich at Memphis Roundhouse Revival.

Match: Hacksaw Reed, Tony Atlas and Sweet Brown Sugar vs Roddy Piper, Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson

This strange alliance between Piper, Ladd and Patterson was formed last week in piper’s Pit and now they are going right after their enemies in this wild 6 man tag match.

The match is back and forth with a lot of wild 4 man and 6 man action. Rules were not really made for this match. Ref Jerry Calhoun is having a tough time keeping control. At one point, Mr. USA tossed Piper out of the ring and now Atlas, Sugar and Reed had the numbers advantage and they took advantage of it. Piper slowly regained his composure outside the ring and was caught on camera gathering a white towel and some sort of spray can from under the ring. He is seen spraying something into the can and then being careful not to be seen by the ref, sneaks up behind Atlas and puts the towel over his face. Atlas struggles for a few seconds and then his legs get wobble and down he goes. Calhoun is finally able to restore order and when he turns around, Piper has Atlas covered. Calhoun hits the mat and makes the 3 count. Reed and Sweet Brown Sugar seem confused and go to aid Atlas as the heels celebrate in the ring.

Gordon Solie questions Piper what was in that can. Piper acts like he has no idea what Solie is talking about? Piper goes on to say that this is the exact result that will occur the next time he faces Piper. He promises that USWA National Championship will soon be around his waist.

Reed and Sweet Brown Sugar rush the interview desk and get right into Piper’s face questioning what had he done to their friend. Piper again acts dumb and that they better watch their mouths if they know what is good for them. For once in the USWA, cooler heads prevail as Solie takes us to break.

Match: Crusher Ottman with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Bam Bam Bigelow with Jerry Lawler

Jerry Jarrett mandated this rematch after last week when Ottman beat Bigelow but after the 5 minute rule that Humperdink had previously set up for the Humperdink Challenge. Humperdink argues that this stipulation was not in the contract for last week and therefore he does not have to pay Bigelow the $5000. Jarrett has included that stipulation for this match so if Ottman doesn’t beat Bigelow in less than the 5 minutes or else pay the money.

As the match gets going, it is a replica of last week. Both huge men have their moments and Bigelow’s speed gives him an advantage. At about the 4 minute mark, Humperdink is beginning to sweat. He tries to trip Bigelow but is unsuccessful. Lawler now comes after Humperdink. He actually scurries through the middle of the ring while trying to escape. While exiting the ring, he drops his walking stick which Bigelow scoops up. The fans are screaming at him to crush Ottman with it while ref Paul Morton is begging him not to. Bigelow actually snaps the stick in two as Lawler catches Humperdink and lets him have it with a huge right hand.

WHAM! Right after Bigelow broke the walking stick, Ottman came up from behind with a huge running squash into the corner. Bigelow falls hard and Ottman covers him for the 1…2…3. Lawler rushes to the ring to prevent Ottman for injuring Bigelow. The fans are upset and Humperdink seems relieved. That is until Lance Russell announce the winner by pinfall at a time of 5:01, Crusher Ottman.

The fans go wild as Humperdink is forced to hand over the money. He is yelling and screaming that this was all rigged and that he is going to get his lawyer and he is going to sue everyone in the USWA. He is arguing that his watch says 4:59 and not 5:01. Gordon Solie stands up for the USWA and as the credits start to roll, he is heard saying, ”Mr. Humperdink, we have heard about enough of that.” He continues, “We are out of time. So long from Memphis.”

As the screen fades to black, the national audience is left watching Lawler and Bigelow holding huge fistfuls of cash.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/8/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

5:05-6:05

TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

47BZr7X.jpg?4

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s ring in our first guest.”

Gordon Solie: “Lance, I have just been informed that we have a situation in the back and a cameraman is rushing to the scene. Let’s see what is going on.

As the TV screen goes to the back, we see a total war going on between the House of Humperdink and The Iron Curtain. Lance Russell is heard saying, “What in the Sam Hill is going on back there. This is total mayhem.”

Buzz Sawyer, Hercules Hernandez and Crusher Ottman seem to have surprised Korstia Korchenko, Alexis Smirnoff and Kris Markov as they were entering the studio. They are using anything they can to injure the Russians. Tables, Chairs and anything that is not nailed down is being used as a weapon. Smirnoff and Markov are down and this gives the Humperdink’s stable a chance to go after the man they really want, Korstia Korchenko. Humperdink is still furious over Korchenko performing so poorly when he was a member of his stable and they are trying to get even tonight. This triple teaming includes Sawyer connecting with a Frog Splash off the table onto Korchenko who is now rolling on the concrete floor. They follow this up by laying Korchenko across the table allowing Crusher Ottman and his 370 pounds to hit an Avalanche putting him through the table. Korchenko is hurt badly but it is now Hercules Hernandez turn. Humperdink is shouting at him to put Korchenko in the Backbreaker Rack which he complies. Not only is Korchenko being bent in half, Hernandez is slamming his head over and over again into the cement wall. Hernandez finally drops a bloodied Korchenko on top of his comrades and Humperdink is heard screaming, “Revenge is So Sweet!”

Gordon Solie is heard calling for medical attention as we head to our first break.

Lance Russell informs the audience that order has been restored but that Korstia Korchenko has been sent to the hospital. The fans seem to be just fine with that information.

Tommy Rich, who is still on crutches, comes to the interview desk with his partner and fellow USWA World Tag Team Champion, Jerry Lawler. They are all hyped up and start talking about the party Bam Bam Bigelow threw with Humperdink’s money last night down at Corky’s.

vkrA1v9.jpg?2

Next, they go after the Shogunate and say they can’t wait to get their hands on them at Memphis Roundhouse Revival. They then turn their attention to the Perfect Stable and how Lawler wants to get his hands Idol and the Kansas Jayhawks for their attack on Jimmy Valiant.

Gordon Solie says that they are going to the VTR of the match between Valiant and The Hangman, Bobby Jaggers. The audience watches a replay from last night where he and Rock Riddle basically hang Valiant over the top rope by a bull rope.

As they come back, Jimmy Valiant has joined them at the interview desk with a neck brace on. He is ranting and raving as only the Boogie Woogie man could and his calling out Jaggers, Mantell, Idol and Rock Riddle.

All of a sudden the Perfect Stable appears and is full of laughter and jokes asking if Lawler’s friends are patients in a hospital. Idol, Mantell, Jaggers, and Rock Riddle take turns making fun of Rich and his leg and Valiant in his neck brace. Rock Riddle laughs and takes out a stethoscope and gives it to Lawler as a gift. Lawler just throws it to the ground and is furious. He gets ready to shove Idol when Solie reminds them to keep order and that if any member of the Perfect Stable touches Valiant, Idol will be stripped of the USWA Heavyweight Title. Riddle says they know about Jarrett’s stupid rule but……

All of a sudden the Shogunate attack Lawler and his two injured allies. Again mayhem is under way and The Perfect Stable just stands by making sure not to get involved. Mr. Saito, Killer Khan and Tojo Yamamoto really lay it on the three fan favorites. Wrestlers pour out from the back and finally pull the Shogunate off Lawler, Rich and Valiant.

Again, Solie seems relieved that peace has been restored and promises fans that when they get back from break, they will go right to the ring.

MATCH: Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Thunderbolt Patterson

A great match that is back and forth. Patterson is able to fight off some of the power moves by Reed and keeps him off balance with his long arms. Patterson made this look like a boxing match and was doing great until Reed blocked a big right hand and scooped him up for a running power slam. He followed this up with a gorilla press slam and gained the pin. Ernie Ladd came out and Reed dared him to enter the ring but Ladd thought discretion was the better part of valor.

Reed was joined by Sweet Brown Sugar and together they went to the ring. They asked Solie and Russell if they tuned into their sister promotion, TNT, last Tuesday Night on WTBS. Solie and Russell said of course.

Reed continued to ask if he saw The Dream Machine and his new partner….. Porkchop Cash. Reed did a short summary of the reunion of the Bruise Brothers and how Cash apologized for ever following a low life like Ernie Ladd. Reed begins to wonder out loud……. So who is left of Ladd’s Army? Is it just Ladd and Patterson? Reed says that’s not an Army. That’s not even a gang. That’s not even a family. That’s just two ignorant fools who are going to get their butts kicked at Memphis Roundhouse Revival.

MAIN EVENT: MR. USA TONY ATLAS VS ROWDY RODDY PIPER (Non-Title Match)

Atlas is just back from the Paul Boesch Tag Tournament where he a his partner, Andre The Giant had an excellent showing. Tonight it is a wild match that started with the USWA National Champ, Tony Atlas making fun of Piper’s kilt. This infuriated Piper who rushed in to quickly and Atlas took control. Atlas spent the next few minutes crushing Piper with some big power moves including an agonizing Bearhug. To Piper’s credit, he refused to give up. An eye rake later and the momentum had changed. Piper now Irish Whipped Atlas into ref Jerry Calhoun and the two banged heads and both went down. The Sheepherders rushed out and began to spray a white towel with something from a spray can. It appears to be the same either that Piper used last night on Sweet Brown Sugar. As Luke Williams is holding the towel and Butch Miller is spraying……

WHAM! The Fabulous Ones rush out and from behind, double drop kick the Sheepherders. Both Williams and Miller fall forward and bang their heads on the steel ring post. Piper sees this and doesn’t know which way to run. Stan Lane grabs him while Steve Keirn sticks that white towel right into the face of Piper.

Lance Russell announce that we are just about out of time as Lane goes to help Atlas to his feet and Keirn helps the ref regain his composure. Atlas sees Piper on the ground and doesn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so his covers the Hot Rod. Calhoun stumbles over and makes the 1, 2, and 3. The fans go wild as Atlas and the Fabulous Ones control the ring as the show comes to an end.

Gordon Solie ends the show with “So long from Memphis.”

USWA as a whole is really building up some big time steam. I am really enjoying the team of Piper and the Sheepherders. Perhaps my favorite trio going right now in the game. I am interested to see what happens with Butch Reed in the long run here. I see him with some serious potential and someone who could control the brand but there is a very thick piece of glass with some great stars in USWA and I don't know if he has the personality to break through. Keep doin work!

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

11:05-12:05

TAPED IN DALLAS, TEXAS

jcysDrs.jpg?1

Dave Brown welcomes all the fans to TNT Wrestling from the World’s most Famous Wrestling Arena, the Sportatorium. He introduces his co-commentator and President of TNT Wrestling, Fritz VonErich.

3yYlqZR.jpg?2

Fritz announces that right here in two weeks, there will be a 20 Man Battle Royal. He continues by explaining that there will be a twist and that the Battle Royal will end when there are 4 contestants remaining. Fritz will then announces that there will be a drawing to see which wrestlers will face each other. The two winners of these matches will meet on April 23rd at Memphis Roundhouse Revival and the winner will become the first ever TNT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

Dave Brown puts over that idea and then says it is time to get to the ring for tonight’s first match.

MATCH: OX BAKER VS BRUCE DEAN

A complete squash match where Baker just beats Dean all over the ring. The match ends when Baker uses his taped right hand to deliver a brutal Heart Punch.

V1HRaGU.jpg?1

Ox Baker goes to the interview desk where for the second straight week he doesn’t wait for a question. He just grabs the mic and begins to say that Fritz should just hand him the TNT Title now before someone gets seriously hurt. Fritz says if Baker is one of the final four in the battle royal, he will have a chance to win the title but he is not going to just give it to him. Ox warns Fritz that he may kill someone with his Heart Punch AGAIN if Fritz doesn’t come to his senses.

All of sudden Dave Brown says, oh my, look at this, it is Bugsy McGraw.”

r4QmXJ3.jpg?1

Bugsy comes out to the interview table and just starts spinning in circles. When he finally stops, he starts chanting “No social conformity, No social conformity, over and over again.

Ox seems confused and announces the obvious. “This guy is off his rocker and he better be careful because I have had about enough of this.”

McGraw finally stops and corrects Ox Baker by saying, “No it is us who has had enough of you. I like your style man. It is great not to bow down to the Man. It is right to be your own person.” He starts spinning around again chanting, No Social Conformity!

Ox Baker can’t take this “clown” much longer and gets in his face. Bugsy stops spinning and gets a real serious face and stops and looks Baker right in the eyes. He continues, “It is ok to be different but what you are trying to do is hurt people. Next week, why don’t you pick on someone your own size.”

Ox accepts the challenge and looks ready to kill Bugsy. Cooler heads prevail as they go their separate ways. As we go to our first commercial break, Fritz says that Bugsy is nuttier than a fruit cake but he is one tough lunatic. That is going to be some match next week.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH: KEN TIMBS VS STEVE TRAVIS

In a pretty good back and forth match, Ken Timbs finally gets the victory after he followed up a nasty eye rake with a running bulldog. As soon as the ref made the three count, another wrestle runs into the ring and goes right after Timbs and starts throwing some haymakers. Fritz announces this new wrestle as Ricky Gibson, the brother of the famous Robert Gibson. After being hit with a few wild right hands, Timbs escapes and exits to the locker room.

Ricky Gibson heads over to the interview desk and Dave Brown wants to know what that was all about. Gibson says two years ago, Ken Timbs attacked his brother in the parking lot in a match in Southwest Championship Wrestling. He continues to explain how this unprovoked attacked cost him and his brother a chance at the title. He goes on to say that he has been chasing Timbs every sense and it looks like he has found him. He warns Timbs not to let him get his hands if he values his health.

Fritz says that it look like an unexpected feud is brewing here in USWA.

******** This was to be the angle for Timbs and Gibson but Boone released Timbs*******

Sorry to leave this here but needed time to figure out a new angle and didn’t want the show to be late.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

kemkfXF.jpg?3

At the interview desk with Brown and Fritz is Superstar Bill Dundee and the Perfect 10, Baby Doll. They are really fired up over the events of last week. Dundee thanks Baby Doll for clocking Rock Riddle and protecting him in his match against the USWA World Champ, Austin Idol. He then talks about how he can’t wait for his title shot against Idol later this month.

Baby Doll then basically warns Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert and Sensational Sherri Martel to stay out of their way. Fritz explains that this might not be possible as he has already signed a match between Gilbert and Dundee for next week’s show. Dundee and Baby Doll seem excited.

Donna Summers “Hot Stuff” begins to blare as Eddie Gilbert and Sensational Sherri come to the interview desk where they warn the Perfect 10 and Dundee that they better be careful what they ask for and that they just sit back and watch the next match.

MATCH: Eddie Gilbert with Sherri vs “Quick Draw” Rick McGraw

This is Rick McGraw’s first appearance on TNT and he looks pretty good. He is 6’1 and packed full of muscles but this doesn’t intimidate Sherri.

BwKIqeO.jpg?1

She goes right up to him and pushes him. He doesn’t really move much so she starts to berate him and then smacks him across the face. This seems to get McGraw’s attention and he begins to go after her when …… WHAM….. Eddie Gilbert nails him with a drop kick as the bell sounds. Sherri, knowing her work is done, leaves the ring and plays to the crowd. This was all the advantage Gilbert needed as the match came to an end after Gilbert hits the Hot Shot! (A flapjack dropped into a hangman) Gilbert sees no reason to stop the onslaught and continues the beating on McGraw. After a minute or two of the beating, Superstar Bill Dundee and Baby Doll hit the scene. Gilbert and Dundee square off while Sherri and Baby Doll just eye each other. A few officials rush from the back to break up the fight as the crowd seems more eager to see what will happen between the two women. They never really get it going but you can cut the tension with a knife. This one is really starting to heat up.

When the smoke clears, the camera goes back to the interview desk where the Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash and The Dream Machine) have joined Dave and Fritz. They are basically putting out a warning to all tag teams in TNT that they are the team to beat. They don’t care if it’s Hansen and Brody. They don’t care if it’s the Sheepherders. They don’t care who it is. They are ready to take on all comers and they hope to do the fans proud.

Dave Brown wishes them luck in their match against the Nightmares which is about to start. The Dream Machine says luck has nothing to do with it. It is a bit strange how the fans really like this team as they are really rough and abusive.

MATCH: The Bruise Brothers vs The Nightmares

Surprisingly, the match is a total squash match. It is strange to see the Nightmares go down so easily but they could not handle the power nor the viciousness of the Bruise Brothers. The end came when Porkchop Cash connected on a massive power slam of Nightmare #1.

As they go to break, Fritz and Dave say how tough those two men are.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH: BRUISER BRODY AND STAN HANSEN VS STEVE SIMPSON AND WENDELL COOLEY

Not to be outdone by the Bruise Bruisers, Hansen and Brody just beat Simpson and Cooley to hell. The end comes after Hansen hit a huge lariat on Cooley and Brody followed it up with a Running Knee Mauler.

Brody and Hansen head to the interview desk where Hansen has tobacco juice running down his face and he is screaming about how the Bruise Brothers better watch their mouths and Brody says he can’t wait to kick them right in the teeth.

Fritz discusses how this feud is going to really get ugly and the fans better hold onto their hats as this is going to be wild.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

The show comes from break with the USWA World Tag Team Champions, Wildfire Tommy Rich and Jerry the King Lawler at the interview desk. They are talking about how it is such a pleasure to be in the great state of Texas and how they can’t wait for their next trip down here so they can compete against the best TNT has to offer.

The fans start screaming for a match against the Bruise Brothers but Jerry Lawler quickly explains that they are not able to fight this week as Tommy is still nursing an injured leg. Wildfire gets the fans all fired up as he says he can’t wait to get in the ring with the Bruise Brothers. He says both Jerry and he are good friends with The Dream Machine and Porkchop Cash and that they really deserve a title shot. This brings out Brody and Hansen who are screaming that they are the ones who deserve a title shot and that Lawler and Rich are just afraid and they are ducking them. This bothers Lawler and Rich who go right back at them but do to Rich being on crutches, can’t do much about it. Something Lawler says must have struck a nerve with Brody and Hansen as those two just go on the attack. Brody and Hansen are having their way with Lawler and the injured Rich. They are hitting them with anything they can find when all of a sudden the Bruise Brothers hit the scene and go right after Hansen and Brody. This fight rages on for a minute or two as Dave Brown warns the fans that “we are running out of time.” Finally Lawler has recovered and rejoined the fight. It is now three on two and Hansen and Brody are getting the worst of it. The scurry off to the back as Lawler, Cash and the Dream Machine help Rich to his feet. The 4 men gave each other a big handshake and the fans go wild as Rich takes the microphone and is all firrrrrrreeeeeeeddddddd up!

The crowd goes wild!

Dave Brown is heard saying “So long from the Sportatorium. Don’t forget to tune in next week for another great show.”

Memphis, Atlanta and Dallas...wow. Really enjoyed the show. Leaving in the match on the scrapped angle was a good idea. That stuff happens, and you can't just ignore it, so I liked that. The mixing of all this talent, and using the WTBS station as a platform to show off all of these major territories and wrestlers is fun to watch grow in front of us. Keep up the good work.

I liked the Dallas stuff and you can bet that Bill Watts is feeling the pressure over in Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. I think that you are setting things up well with slowly showing your top guys to the Texas crowd while still holding strong to Texas favorites. It is a good model to follow with National television on your side.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/14/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

6:05-8:05

TAPED IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA

47BZr7X.jpg?5

The show opens with a VTR of last week’s attack by the House of Humperdink on the Iron Curtain. The House of Humperdink really put a beating on Korstia Korchenko and the tape ends with Korchenko, on a stretcher, being put into an ambulance.

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s get right to it.

Lance Russell and Gordon Solie welcome fans to the Saturday night show on WTBS and they give a rundown of what’s instore for the fans tonight.

This great video contains over 5 hours of non-stop action that includes matches with all your favorite superstars.

kuqXtxQ.jpg?3

Gordon Solie then “welcomes” in Sir Oliver Humperdink. Humperdink is really wired up. First he says that he is so happy that Korchenko is out of action and the America people should thank him for putting that commie out of the USWA. For once, the fans agree with Humperdink and give him a round of applause.

Lance Russell explains that the attack has really angered the rest of the Iron Curtain, Alexis Smirnoff and Kris Markov and that they have gone to Jerry Jarrett and demanded a Russian Chain Match where all 4 men will be tied together by a long steel chain and that Jarrett has signed the match for Memphis Roundhouse Revival on April 23rd. Humperdink’s excitement continues as he quickly says his team of Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez can’t wait.

Gordon Solie then turns his attention to the Crusher Ottman/Bam Bam Bigelow situation. Ottman has defeated Bigelow in each of the last two weeks but both times it took more than the 5 minute time limit set forth by Humperdink himself in the HUMPERDINK CHALLENGE. Due to the length of the match, he was forced to pay Bigelow $5000.00.

Humperdink’s excitement turns quickly to pure anger. He starts screaming how the fix was in and Jarrett is just trying to steal his money. He has seen the video tape over 50 times Humperdink says he timed in each time and it was 4:59. He threatens lawsuits against Jarrett but that has become a weekly occurrence.

Jarrett comes out and defends the decision of the official time keeper and that Humperdink can yell and scream all he wants. He also reminds Humperdink that the reason Crusher Ottman won at all was because of his interference. Humperdink again goes wild calling Jarrett a liar and threatens more lawsuits.

Jarrett tells him to “Shut Up.” The fans love this are really go nuts. Jarrett continues by telling him Ottman is going to face Bigelow again but this time in a Steel Cage. Humperdink seemed excited at first when he announced the match but again lost it when he heard steel cage. He knows now that he will not be able to get involved.

Gordon Solie just kind of laughs and brings us to our first commercial break.

MATCH: 6 MAN TAG MATCH: Tommy Rich, Jerry Lawler and Bam Bam Bigelow vs

The Shogunate: Tojo Yamamoto, Killer Khan and Mr. Saito

In just under 10 days, the USWA World Tag Team Champions, Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler will face Mr. Saito and Killer Khan. Tonight, Rich and Lawler are trying to seek some revenge on the Shogunate for a few unprovoked attacks in the last month that left Tommy Rich injured. He has been on crutches for the past 3 weeks and this is his first match back in action. As for the match, it is a wild one where the fan favorites had their way early but then Tojo had an eye rake on Tommy Rich and tagged in Mr. Saito. Saito really went to work on that leg of Wildfire catching him in the Prison Lock, a kneeling figure 4. Somehow, Rich did not submit and all hell broke loose. For a while it was hard to tell who the legal combatants are. On the outside of the ring, Saito continued to work on Rich and his leg while Khan nailed Lawler with the Asian Green mist. In the ring Tojo chopped away at Bigelow and then went for his finisher the Stomach Claw but in an amazing move, the 350 pounder hit Tojo square on the jaw with a standing dropkick. He then picked up Tojo and whipped into the ropes.

WHAM……. A huge power slam on Tojo and ref Paul Morton makes the 3 count. Tojo is flat on his back as Bigelow than goes out of the ring and rams Saito in the steel barricade. He follows this up by grabbing Killer Khan by the head and ramming it over and over again into the ring post. The crowd goes wild as the winners go to the interview desk.

Both Solie and Russell congratulate them on their victory and really push Bigelow to the fans. Lawler and Rich are so excited as Lawler talks about the big man with flame tattoos on his head like he is the second coming. Bigelow just expresses how grateful he is for the help Lawler and Rich have given him and the he was so excited to get a chance to repay them tonight. All of them warn The Shogunate that they are in for another beating at Memphi Roundhouse Revival. Solie again congratulates Bigelow on the biggest win in his early career and wishes him luck in his upcoming cage match against Crusher Ottman.

Lance Russell tells the fans that they will be right back after this break.

Match: USWA NATIONAL CHAMPION TONY ATLAS VS NIGHTMARE #2 (Non-Title)

This match was not much of a test for Atlas as he was just too powerful. The end came when he nailed the Nightmare with a Gorilla Press Slam. As soon as ref Jerry Calhoun finished the 3 count, the Sheepherders marched out to the ring as Solie warns Atlas with his “Waitaminute” call. For once the Sheepherders do not go full steam ahead but wait on the apron as Atlas is trying to make sure he does not get cornered. The fans start to scream but Atlas thinks it is to warn him about the Sheepherders but Roddy Piper has actually snuck into the ring from behind. He again has that white towel that he has been spraying with either over the past few weeks but tonight……….. The towel is loaded with something and WHAM…….. Right to the back of Atlas’s head and he is out. Piper reveals that inside the towel was a can of soda which he pops open and takes a big swig as he and the Sheepherders leave in laughter.

They head right to the interview desk where they make a quick statement to Atlas and the Fabulous Ones that they better have eyes in the back of their heads or they might as well just quit now.

As Gordon Solie leads us into break and as medics attend to Atlas, he announces, “Fair enough.”

Rock Riddle, The Original Mr. Perfect and The USWA World Champion are at the interview desk where Riddle says he can’t believe that Jerry Jarrett is going through with the Title Match at Memphis Roundhouse Revival and couldn’t they have found a more worthy opponent then Jimmy Valiant. They go on to explain that they have the best interest of the USWA and the fans in mind and that they are about to teach Jerry Jarrett how to do his job.

Lance asks them what they are talking about and they announce that not only are the fans about to see the Perfect Champ in action but that they have chosen an opponent who is much more worthy than Jimmy Valiant.

MATCH: Austin Idol with Rock Riddle vs Bruce Dean (Title Match)

Well just as you would expect, Riddle has hand-picked a complete jobber to show off Idol’s talent. After a few minutes of complete control, Idol is just toying with Dean. The crowd pops as The Boogie Woogie Man struts out and circles the ring. Idol is distracted and Dean Sneaks up behind for a roll up and got a 2 ½ count. Idol is in shock but that refocused him. Valiant goes over to the interview desk and starts jive talking about how Idol might not even make it to the Mid-South Coliseum and his better watch out for his main man, Bruce Dean. Idol locks in the Vegas Leglock and Dean submits.

Valiant just waves at Idol as Solie leads us to break.

Piper’s Pit with Special Guests: Mr. Saito and Killer Khan

EryMgg8s.jpg?2

Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and are standing behind him with their arms folded.

Before he calls out Mr. Saito and Killer Khan, he just simply says, “I’m Back. Did you miss me? He then asks if anyone in the audience has any aspirin as he hear Tony Atlas has a headache. The fans really start to boo. As the Asian team comes out, they both bow to Hot Rod and Piper laughs and says ok and bows back. Piper first reviews the match from earlier tonight and says it was wonderful to watch how easily they handled those low life’s, Rich and Lawler and he can’t wait for them to be the new champs. Piper seems really interested in how Killer Khan spits that Asian Green Mist but seems to get no response from Khan. After a few times of asking him, Piper asks Mr. Saito is he speaks. Saito responds with one word, NO. Piper says that this is going well and then turns the interview to their upcoming tag match for the USWA World Titles against Jerry Lawler and Tommy Rich. Now this gets Saito going. “Mistah Lawler …. Mistah Rich … You are sooooo looky you are no hear right now. We will break you. You two are Sayonara! He starts rambling for about 30 seconds in what most believe is Japanese. When he finally starts, Piper responds by saying “that was exactly what I was thinking. Why don’t you tell these idiots at home what you said one more time but instead of your beautiful Japanese, try Redneck! Mr. Saito responds in English. “I am happy to hurt Toomy Rich and Jerry Lawler.” Piper expresses how confident he is that this two men will be champs and that Rich and Lawler will finally get what they deserve. He thanks the Shogunate for that time. He tries a couple of more times to get Khan to talk about the Mist but Khan just stares at him. Piper tells him you are “One scary dude!”

The Shogunate walk off and Piper for once seems to be at a loss for words.

MATCH: Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson vs Steve Travis and Rick McGraw

Ladd and Patterson were ruthless in this match. While “Quick Draw” McGraw had a few moments of success and had the crowd really getting behind him, Ladd and Patterson proved to be just too big and experienced. The end came after Ernie Ladd followed up a huge chop to the head of Travis with a Big Boot and gained the pin.

Patterson and Ladd headed to the interview desk where they quickly took control of the microphone and went on a long rant about the racism is this disgusting city. They followed that up by getting all over Hacksaw Reed and Sweet Brown Sugar and calling them sell outs and Uncle Tom’s and say they are going to destroy them at Memphis Roundhouse Revival. . They end the interview by raising their fists in the air as a symbol of black power.

Match: Crusher Ottman with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Brett Wayne

Ottman and Humperdink come to the ring in a really foul and once the bell sounds, they take their anger out on Brett Wayne. Ottman punishes Wayne for about 5 minutes until he just pulverizes Wayne with a Running Splash. In a rather strange turn of events, Ottman was about to hit another Running Splash when Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer hit the ring and prevented it. Ottman and Sawyer began to have words but cooler heads prevailed and the House of Humperdink remained intact.

For the second time tonight, Humperdink heads to the interview desk but this time he is joined by the rest of his stable, Ottman, Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez.

Lance Russell tries to get to the bottom of the “family problems” that everyone just witnessed between Ottman and Sawyer but Humperdink tells Pencil Nose to shut up. Humperdink continues and warns Bam Bam Bigelow that he is going to get hurt real bad in his steel cage match with Crusher Ottman. He goes on to say that Brett Wayne has yet to get up off the mat and that is exactly what is going to happen to Bigelow. Mad Dog Sawyer starts howling at the “moon” and Humperdink chains him up like a dog. Hernandez has a huge steel chain wrapped around his upper body and Humperdink starts laughing. “Do those commie morons really think that the members of my family will be intimidated by a Russian Chain Match? Look at them! They live in chains! They are going to beat you within an inch of your lives.”

Gordon Solie finishes the interview with a simple, “Ah Huh.”

MAIN EVENT MATCH

THE FABULOUS ONES VS THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS with ROCK RIDDLE

The heels enter the ring first to a chorus of boos but they don’t seem to care. With their bull ropes and tobacco juice rolling down their cheeks, Riddle’s “Perfect Team” seems right at home being the villains. The crowd really pops as ZZ Topps and Sharpe Dressed Man blares from the speakers. The entrance of the Fabulous Ones is one of the most entertaining in the industry.

As Lance Russell lets us know this match will be TV Time Remaining Time Limit, The Kansas Jayhawks jump the bell and go right at the Fabulous Ones. This gives them control for a while until Keirn ducks under a huge right hand and monkey flips to his own corner and tags in Stan Lane. Single handed, Lane cleans house. He is on fire as the Jayhawks bail to the outside of the ring. Land and Keirn follow them out as Lance Russell lets the fans know that this is a wild match. All of a sudden, the Sheepherders rush to the ring and the brawl is on. It is 4-2 as The Jayhawks and Sheepherders take it to the Fabulous Ones. The Crowd goes wild as Pvt. Kernodle and CPL. Kirchner hit the scene. It is chaos in the studio. The Sheepherders and the Fabulous One are squared off in one corner of the studio while the Jayhawks and Ft. Bragg Brotherhood brawl it on the other side.

As TV Time comes to an end, the brawl is still going. Lance Russell tells us that he “can’t believe the mayhem while Gordon Solie announces “We are out of time. So long from Atlanta, Georgia. Make sure to join us tomorrow night at 5:05 right here on WTBS.

9FpDevJ.jpg?1 2PV6seT.jpg?1

Solie discusses the upcoming match between these members of the House of Humperdink and the Russian Assassins, Alexis Smirnoff and Chris Markov in Memphis on April 23rd and he really pushes the idea that it will be a Russian Chain Match.

Russell says that Sawyer and Hernandez should be perfectly at home in this time of match. He goes on to say just look at them. Sawyer is chained to a dog collar and Hernandez has a huge steel chain wrapped around his neck.

As for the match it is one sided and comes to an end when Hercules Hernandez places Ted Allen in the Backbreaker Rack and forces him to submit. As the bell sounds, The Russian Assassins come to ring side and each are carrying their own steel chain. The House of Humperdink gathers their chains and the two teams dare each other to make a move.

Gordon Solie is heard saying, “Katie bar the door. This could be really dangerous” but cooler heads prevail as officials rush to ring side and beg for a little restraint from both teams.

MATCH: HACKSAW REED VS ERNIE LADD

Solie and Russell are really excited for the next match and explain that the fans are in for a real treat. They continue to discuss the feud between Reed and Ladd and push the match between Reed and Sweet Brown Sugar against Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson at Memphis Roundhouse Revival. As Ladd comes to the ring, he is really going at it with the fans. The boos change to cheers as Hacksaw Reed makes his way to the ring. Reed has been on a roll of late but this one is going to be war.

As for the match, there are no rules. Ladd uses every dirty trick he knows and it is a back and forth match. Reed ducked under a Big Boot and came off the ropes with a huge running clothesline. Reed starts to use his power moves including a bearhug and a huge suplex on the 6’8 giant. Reed appears on the verge of victory until Thunderbolt Patterson hit the ring. Ref Paul Morton called for the bell and disqualified Ladd but that didn’t seem to matter to them. Ladd and Patterson take turns beating on Reed. Ladd actually takes off his Big Boot and starts beating Reed over the head. Reed is taking serious abuse and finally the Sweet Brown Sugar and Tony Atlas come to the rescue. Ladd and Patterson leave the ring as Atlas and Sugar tend to their friend.

Solie and Russell continue to discuss how dangerous Ladd is and you never know what he has planned. They continue to push their upcoming match in Memphis and they both fear for all the wrestlers involved as this feud is getting really violent and dangerous.

Reed, Atlas and Sweet Brown Sugar head to the interview desk where Reed has a little blood showing on his head. The three are furious and really sound like they are feed up with Ladd and his Army. Reed warns him that he is in for the beating of his life the next time they meet.

After a battering ram by the Sheepherders on Steve Lane and a save by Steve Keirn, all 8 wrestlers ended up in the ring and from there, the brawl was on. There was completely mayhem and finally ref Jerry Calhoun called for the bell and disqualified both teams.

Rock Riddle, The Original Mr. Perfect and The USWA World Champion are at the interview desk where Riddle says he still can’t believe that Jerry Jarrett is going through with the Title Match at Memphis Roundhouse Revival. He goes on to ask if Jarrett was even watching last night when his Perfect Champ destroyed Bruce Dean who is so much better than Jimmy Valiant. The fans are booing this ridiculous statement.

Lance Russell is frustrated by the Riddle and just asks him to stop the nonsense. Riddle asks what Russell is talking about. He continues on about how he will prove that Idol is a fighting champion and that there is no reason to waste his time with a loser like Valiant. He says that he will prove it again tonight as he will again choose a “real” challenger for Idol. Idol heads to the ring for a match as Rock Riddle announces that his man will defend his title against none other than the amazing Steve Travis. Steve Travis seems excited at the title shot as he makes his way to the ring. The fans seem really angry that Idol is ducking all the major talent in the USWA and putting down The Boogie Woogie Man at the same time.

Just prior to Travis getting in the ring, Jerry Jarrett makes his way to interview desk where he is welcomed by Lance Russell. Jarrett says that he is in charge of this promotion and that he makes the matches and Steve Travis will not wrestle for the World Title tonight. Riddle comes back to the interview desk and starts arguing that the fans deserve to see Idol wrestle and that Jarrett is just jealous of his “Perfect Champ.”

Jarrett goes on to say that he agrees that the fans deserve to see the Champ in action but Steve Travis is a young wrestler who is not ready for a title shot. Riddle argues by saying that Travis is more deserving then Jimmy Valiant. Jarrett just dismisses this comment as says Austin Idol will wrestle tonight but his opponent will be TOMMY “WILDFIRE” RICH.” The crowd really goes wild.

MAIN EVENT: USWA TITLE MATCH:

AUSTIN IDOL VS

TOMMY WILDFIRE RICH

As Rich hits the ring, Idol tries a sneak attack but Rich is ready for it. He is on fire and throwing haymakers. After a few minutes, the match settles down and has some back and forth action. Riddle is beside himself on the outside and does everything he can to help his man. He is constantly up on the apron trying to distract ref Paul Morton but he is having no such luck. After a big body slam, Austin Idol tries to lock in the Vegas Leglock but Rich kicks him off. Idol comes off the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Rich ducks under the move and catches Idol in a Sleeper. He has it locked in and is in the center of the ring. Idol struggles to free himself but Rich will have nothing to do with it. Idol collapses to one knee and then eventually down into a sitting position. The ref raises Idol’s arm once and it drops effortlessly to his side. 1…..

Morton again lifts the arm of Idol and it falls down to the champ’s side. 2….

Morton lifts the arm a third time and……

From out of nowhere, Riddle rushes into the ring and drags Paul Morton to the outside. The two struggle on the floor as Rich keeps the Sleeper hold on Idol. As Riddle and Morton struggle on the floor, there is a cheer from the fans. Idol is now completely out. Rich releases the sleeper and covers Idol for the pin but there is still no ref.

From the back comes Ref Jerry Calhoun who slides into the ring. He begins to make the count on Idol.

1…

2…

3…

Gordon Solie and Lance Russell are going wild as wrestlers rush from the back to join in the celebration. Rock Riddle is arguing with Jerry Calhoun as Gordon Solie announces, TONIGHT WE HAVE MADE HISTORY AND CROWNED A NEW WORLD CHAMPION. TOMMY “WILDFIRE” RICH. SO LONG FROM ATLANTA.

The Credits roll as the fans celebrate. The screen fades to black.

The fans are really excited with many of the names. The loudest cheers are for Mil Mascaras, Bill Dundee and Bruiser Brody while they really let Eddie Gilbert and Ox Baker have it. The last two names really surprise them and bring out their ire. Abdullah causes havoc wherever he goes and Dr. D is one of the toughest heels in all of professional wrestling.

Dave Brown gives Fritz a lot of credit for building such a great roster in such a short period of time and is really surprised to see Dr. Death here in TNT. They also go back and forth on some of the favorites.

Dave announces that they will take a commercial break and then show the Battle Royal in its entirety.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

TNT 20 BATTLE ROYAL

(FINAL 4 TO MEET IN THE SEMIFINALS IMMEDIATLEY FOLLOWING)

4HlWMVu.jpg?1

As the Battle Royal begins, it is chaos from the beginning. Those feuding with each other head right to their enemies. Tag teams try to work together while some people just run and try to hide but with 20 men in the ring there is nowhere to go. As you would expect, some of the smaller men without an alliance are the first to be tossed over the top rope. This group includes Steve Travis, Wendell Cooley, and Ricky Gibson. Abdullah the Butcher is on a mission and he uses his size and nastiness to single handedly toss out the nightmares.

We are quickly down to 15 men and we see the Bruise Brothers battling Brody and Hansen. Ox Baker and Bugsy are at each other’s throats and Eddie Gilbert and Bill Dundee are doing their best to toss each other to the floor. It is also pretty hot on the floor as Baby Doll and Sheri Martel are next to each yelling to their men and also yelling at each other. Surprisingly, Dr. D is just watching it all from the corner. It seems like nobody wants to take him on and he doesn’t mind saving some energy.

In a rather interesting maneuver, The Spoiler was trying to force Mil Mascaras to the floor but the Man of a Thousand Masks catches his opponent in a flying leg scissors and flips The Spoiler to the floor. 14 men left!

Abdullah continues his reign of terror by just bull rushing Quick Draw McGraw and out he goes. Down to 13! King Cobra and Scott McGhee decide they better act quickly and as a team. They come up from behind a land a double drop kick to the back of The Butcher and he loses his balance and goes over the top rope! One of the favorites is out and we are down to 12.

The Cobra and Scott McGhee like their alliance and make a rather fatal decision as they try and take on Dr. D.. David Schultz is battling for his life but he ducks under an overhand chop by McGhee and turns and nails them both with a running clothesline. 10 to go!

Eddie Gilbert has Bill Dundee on the verge of elimination as he is draped over the top rope. Gilbert is pushing while Sheri comes over and tries to pull Dundee to the floor. A mistake as WHAM! She is nailed with the same right hand that knocked Rock Riddle. The 5’10. 190 pound Baby Doll will not let anyone bully her man, Bill Dundee. Sheri goes down for a second and the two hotties of TNT are rolling on the floor in an all-out AMAZON CAT FIGHT. Dundee is able to reset his feet and the battle is back on.

In a mass of humanity, The Bruise Brothers, Cash and The Dream Machine are all locked up with Brody and Hansen. Each one is trying their best to knock someone over the ropes while remaining in the ring themselves. Out of nowhere, Mascaras just runs full speed into the blob and nails them with some amazing Aerial Acrobatics and the 4 go over at the same time. 6 ARE LEFT!

The two pairs, Dundee vs Gilbert and Baker vs Bugsy are fighting it out in opposite corners as Mil Mascaras and Dr. D seem to be taking a moment to catch their breath. They seem to realize that all they need to do now is survive to the Final 4. Baker seems to have gotten the better of the action vs McGraw and whips him into the ropes. As Bugsy comes off, he nails him with a Heart Punch and Bugsy is down. Gilbert and Dundee are both now half out of the ring and are fighting tooth and nail to get their opponent over. Baby Doll and Sheri have stopped their little rumble and are now trying to aid their man again. Baker now has lifted McGraw up by the hair and is moving him towards the ropes. As Baker gets McGraw to the ropes, Mil charges at Ox Baker and Dr. D charges at Bugsy. Mil connects with a flying drop kick and Ox goes over the rope. Schultz hits McGraw with a clothesline and he goes over. Baby Doll gives a might yank on the head of Hot Stuff and he goes over while Sheri rakes the eyes of Dundee and as he grabs his eyes, he loses his balance and over he goes. All 4 men hit the floor and what appears to be the same time.

Fritz and Dave Brown don’t know what to say. They both say the obvious that Mil Mascaras and Dr. D David Schultz have advanced but they also include that they will have to go to the VTR during the upcoming break to see who the other two semifinalist are.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we come out of break, the video is shown to the television audience and it shows that by like 1/10 of second, Ox Baker and Bugsy McGraw were eliminated. Fritz now calls over Bill Dundee, Eddie Gilbert, Mil Mascaras and Dr. D and informs them that inside of the bag he is holding are two black balls and two red balls. The two contestants that draw the black balls will wrestle immediately and the two who draw the red balls will be in tonight’s second match. All 4 wrestlers reach in and make a selection. When they are revealed, they show that Mil Mascaras and Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert will wrestle in the first match.

MATCH: Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert with Sheri Martel vs Mil Mascaras

The fans are ecstatic as they are really rooting Mil Masaras who is one of their old Dallas heroes. The match is a bit awkward and maybe it is because they are all tired from the battle royal or maybe it is because, as usual, Mil Mascaras refuses to sell any of Hot Stuff’s moves. The match is a bit one sided and Gilbert is trying his best to carry the match. He is selling each and every aerial attack by Mascaras and seems on the verge of losing. Sheri seems to have had enough of this and trips Mascaras when the ref’s eyes were turned. The Man of a Thousand Masks seems truly surprised and loses focus and almost goes after Sheri. Hot Stuff sneaks up from behind and in a flash, nails Mascaras with a DDT for the 1…2...3.

Sheri and Gilbert seem really please with themselves and Dave Brown puts over how they are going to be in the finals for the first ever TNT Heavyweight Championship.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH: SUPERSTAR DUNDEE with BABY DOLL VS DR. D DAVID SCHULTZ

39kAYp5.jpg?3GfJdvjs.jpg?1xQ64mJ7.jpg?1

Now this is really a David and Goliath story. Dr. D nearly has a foot on Dundee as well as a 60 pound weight advantage but as the fans of the Memphis area know, you can never count out the Superstar. Baby Doll escorts him to the ring and David Schultz doesn’t even wait for the bell. He attacks the Superstar and what appears to be the beating of Dundee’s life has begun. Baby Doll yells encouragement but it is of no use. Schultz punches, kicks and slams his was to complete control of the match. Bodyslam after bodyslam and elbow after elbow make this one hard to watch for the fans. Some of them remember when he was in the area last and recall his reign of terror. He seems to have picked up right where he left off. At one point, Dr. D goes over to the ropes and starts yelling at Baby Doll that she should join the team of Dr. D and be with a real man. All of a sudden, Dr. D goes from looking down at the floor and Baby Doll to looking at the lights on the ceiling. The referee is seen making a 3 count as Superstar Dundee caught Schultz be surprise with an inside cradle for the victory.

Schultz is beside himself and starts to beat on Dundee again. This time he really uses the heavy artillery. He follows up a running bulldog with a piledriver. Baby Doll is in the ring pleading with Dr. D to stop but he actually shoves her out of the way. He picks up Dundee and wham! Another Piledriver! As time is running out, the camera sees Baby Doll jumping on the back of Schultz and clawing at his eyes.

Fritz is saying that he hopes Dundee will even make it Memphis and the title match with Eddie Gilbert. Dave Brown is agreeing with Fritz and announces that they are out of time. He finishes with “So long from the Sportatorium. Don’t forget to tune in next week for another great show.”

As the credits roll and the screen fades to black, the camera sees Baby Doll doing everything she can to protect Dundee who is flat on his back and completely out!

USWA WRESTLING: 4/21/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

6:05-8:05

TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

47BZr7Xs.jpg?2

The show opens with a VTR of the end of last week’s match between Austin Idol and Tommy Rich.

1…

3…

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight but first we need to call in the President of the USWA, Mr. Jerry Jarrett.

Lance Russell and Gordon Solie welcome Jarrett to the set and he says it is great to be here. Jarrett then asks Tommy “Wildfire” Rich join him on set. Rich comes to the set with the USWA World Championship as the fans go wild.

Jarrett continues and says that he is sorry to inform M. Rich that he is not the current World Champion. Gordon Solie is heard saying, Waitaminute Mr. Jarrett. There is no question that we all saw Tommy defeat Austin Idol right here on TV last week.

Jarrett goes on to explain that there are actually two reasons that Tommy is not the champion. First of all, Austin Idol should have been disqualified when Rock Riddle interfered in the match and pulled ref Paul Morton outside of the ring and second, while this was a sanctioned title match, the referee for this title match was Paul Morton. When Jerry Calhoun came out to the ring and took over the referee duties, he had no right to do so.

Tommy Rich is pleading his case but Jerry Jarrett is saying that he is sorry but rules are rules. All of a sudden, Austin Idol and Rock Riddle strut out to the set and begin reaching for the World belt. Rich tells them to hold on a minute and wants to get one thing straight. “Mr. Jarrett, because this low life, Rock Riddle interferes in a title match and prevents this sorry excuse for a champion from losing, I am the one being punished. Rich is really fiiiirrrrreeed up now but Jarrett says that is unfortunately correct.

Riddle starts arguing that Rich has no right to insult the “Original Mr. Perfect or the Perfect Champion” and that he better watch his mouth. Rich threatens to knock them both out right now and the fans go wild.

Jarrett continues that only due to the technicality, did Idol keep his championship and that they better be more careful in the future. Rich reluctantly hands the title to Jarrett who returns it to the Perfect Stable. Jarrett does continue by saying, if Idol survives Memphis Roundhouse Revival and his match with Jimmy Valiant, he will have to wrestle Tommy Rich right here next Saturday and that there will be two referees for the match. Jarrett also adds that if Idol wins by disqualification, he will lose the title. Riddle and Idol are now beside themselves.

The crowd pops as Jerry "the King" Lawler hits the set. The fans think he is there to stand up for his buddy, Wildfire. He begins by asking Lance Russell where they are and Lance replies “Memphis” but he has a puzzled look on his face by the strange question.

Lawler continues by asking as who is the King of Memphis? This time Russell tries to be funny as says I guess there are two kings in Memphis. Elvis and you, Jerry.

Lawler smirks and says that’s right. He continues by asking Lance one more question. “And Lance, who did Mr. Jarrett name the #1 for the World Title right here on TV just two weeks ago. Lance now understands the pattern of the questions and answers, “Uh, it was you Jerry.

Lawler continues to say that right here in his hometown of Memphis, a town he runs, Jarrett has just taken his title match against Idol away and given it to his tag team partner, Tommy Rich. Rich seems stunned at the jealousy and Jarrett just says that wrestling is an ever changing business and that Rich’s victory last week moved him into the #1 contender’s spot.

Jerry Lawler continues to complain, The Perfect Stable continue to argue that Rich should not have a math with special rules and Rich is still arguing that he should be the champion. As they head to break, it is Gordon Solie who wonders if Lawler and Rich can get back on the same page for their tag title match Monday night against Mr. Saito and Killer Khan.

__________________________________________________________________________

Gordon Solie gives a quick update on the wrestling spectacular to take place right here in Memphis on April 23rd. The event is being billed as Memphis Roundhouse Revival and all USWA Champions will be in action.

Lance Russell continues to push USWA VOLUME #1 which is now available on VHS and is being offered for just $19.95. This great video contains over 5 hours of non-stop action that includes matches with all your favorite superstars.

Gordon Solie then “welcomes” in Sir Oliver Humperdink. Humperdink is accompanied by Crusher Ottman. Humperdink is talking very slowly and philosophically about the upcoming steel cage match between Ottman and Bam Bam Bigelow. He is warning that there is no reason for Bigelow to even show up. He says Bigelow is talented for a youngster but that is all he is and that Ottman is going to hurt him badly, real badly. Humperdink tells Bigelow to watch the next match closely as Crusher is going to man handled two men at the same time and that taking on Bigelow alone will be no match for his monster. Gordon Solie ends the interview with his normal, “Fair enough” as Humperdink and Ottman head to the ring.

MATCH: Crusher Ottman vs Bruce Dean and Steve Travis.

This is a total squash match where Crusher Ottman just throws these two jobbers from pillar to post. The end came after Crusher nailed Steve Travis with a running splash. He then went over and flipped Bruce Dean into the ring. He whipped Dean into the ropes and caught him in a massive Bearhug but then he quickly turned that into a Spinebuster. He dragged Dean on top of Travis and pinned them both at the same time. The match took a total of 1:48.

Gordon Solie was so impressed that he gave Ottman one of his “He is double tough” comments as they head to break.

Match: SWEET BROWN SUGAR VS WENDELL “WILDCAT” COOLEY

This is a rather interesting match-up that showcased some of Cooley’s continued improvement. He nailed Sweet Brown Sugar with a Superkick and almost gained a 3 count. In the end, Sweet Brown Sugar aught Cooley on the chin with a lighting drop kick right to the chin and it was all over as ref Paul Morton made the three count.

As the match ended, Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson hit the ring and put a beating on Sweet Brown Sugar. The hit him with everything but the kitchen sink including 3 hug Big Boots by Ernie Ladd. Patterson than held Sugar as Ladd took off his boot and beat him over the head. Sugar was busted wide open as officials and wrestlers rushed to his aid. Sugar appeared to be hurt badly. This was a similar beating to the one Ladd and Patterson gave to Hacksaw Reed last week. Reed and Sugar are to face Ladd and Patterson at Memphis Roundhouse Revival on Monday. That is, if they are able to.

Ladd and Patterson head to the interview desk where they get a scolding from Lance Russell. Ladd quickly tells him to Shut Up and says that if weak dummies like Sweet Brown Sugar and Hacksaw Reed are stupid enough to get in the ring with them on Monday, it will result in more of the same. Ladd and Patterson both take turns on the mic claiming that they are the ones on the right side of justice and that they are sick and tired of being kept down by the rednecks of Memphis like Jerry Jarrett and the Uncle Toms of the World like Sugar and Reed. As they leave, the raise their fists in a sign of Black Power as the fans really let them half it. Solie, who long ago had enough of this interview gives his uncaring, “Fair enough” as they head to break. He also warns Ladd and Patterson that they better be careful. They have had some success of late with their sneak attacks but they might have just stirred up a hornets nest with Reed and Sweet Brown Sugar.

MATCH: THE RUSSIAN ASSASSNS vs SCOTT McGHEE and RICK McGRAW

Alexis Smirnoff and Kris Markov have no interest in winning this match. Scott McGhee and Rick McGraw took the early advantage but then The Russians took complete control. After Alexis Smirnoff connected with a Heart Punch on McGhee he could have gained the pin. Instead, he just went to the corner and grabbed that steel chain that he brought to the ring. He began to slam it into the back of McGhee over and over again as the ref called for the bell. Markov also grabs the chain he brought to the ring and began to beat McGraw who had tried to help his partner. The beating was so bad that TBS made the decision to censor the screen with a giant X.

The Russian Assassins head to the interview desk where they say that can’t believe how stupid Americans are and how do Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez expect to beat them in their own type of match, A Russian Chain Match. They seem really confident and the fans seem concerned that they may be unstoppable.

Piper’s Pit with Special Guests: HOT STUFF EDDIE GILBERT AND SHERI MARTEL

EryMgg8s.jpg?2

Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and are standing behind him with their arms folded. Piper calls out Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert and Sheri Martel and he fawns over Sheri for a few minutes. Then he brings up the TNT Title Match at Memphis Roundhouse Revival where Gilbert will face Bill Dundee. Gilbert says he can’t wait to get that little guy Dundee in the ring and it is going to be awesome to be the first ever TNT Champion. Piper then brings up how the last time Dundee was in Memphis it was right here on the set up Piper’s Pit where he broke his leg. He starts to laugh and recall how awesome that was. He then turns the interview to Sherri and once again brings up here beauty but says Dundee has himself one fine babe also in that Amazon chick, Baby Doll. Sherri goes nuts at this and says that Baby Doll better not get in the way Monday night. Piper starts making Meow Sounds imitating a Cat fight. Again Piper encourages Gilbert and too go out and finish off Dundee.

MATCH: PVT. KERNODLE vs “DIRTY” DUTCH MANTELL with ROCK RIDDLE

In a pretty long match, both wrestlers had their moments but in the end it Rock Riddle was the difference. He distracted ref Paul Morton just long enough for Dirty Dutch to pull out some foreign object from his trunks and nail Kernodle. He finished it up with a flying elbow smash as the ref turned back to the action and made the 3 count. The crowd yelled and screamed about the dirty tactics but when the ref asked Dutch he denied it which left the ref with no choice but to raise his hand in victory. Cpl. Kirchner came out to protect his Ft. Bragg Brother and confronted Dutch but cooler heads prevailed even though the crowd was hoping Kirchner would let Mantell have it.

Match: JIMMY VALIANT VS STEVE SIMPSON

“The Boy from New York City” comes dancing to the ring and high fifing everyone in sight. He is on fire tonight and makes quick work of Steve Simpson after he connected with back to back bodyslams and followed that up with a running elbow drop.

He goes to the interview desk where he is jiving about his upcoming World Title match with Austin Idol. He is talking so fast and with so much energy that Gordon Solie begins to smile and seems like he knows Valiant is just a little crazy. Solie asks him about the possible trouble between his two friends, Jerry Lawler and Tommy Rich and Valiant just says that they are family and everything will work itself out and he can’t wait to watch them make Sushi out of the Shogunate! Again, Solie laughs and takes us to break.

MAIN EVENT MATCH

THE FABULOUS ONES AND TONY ATLAS VS THE SHEEPHERDERS & RODDY PIPPER

This match combines two of the title matches in the upcoming Memphis Roundhouse Revival where the Fabulous Ones will challenge the Sheepherders for the USWA National Tag Championship and Piper will take on Atlas for the USWA National Heavyweight Title. The heels enter the ring first to a chorus of boos but they don’t seem to care. The Fabulous Ones dance their way to the ring and as the bell sounds, the brawl is on. The match is wild from the get go and the Fabulous Ones and Atlas seem to be carrying the tempo. It is hard for the Sheepherders to deal with the power of Atlas. The Sheepherders are eventually able to use their quick tags and devious tactics to take control of the situation. They have Atlas pinned in the corner but somehow he escapes and tags in Lane. Next, we have a Pier 6 Brawl on hand where Ref jerry Calhoun has lost control. He calls for the bell and disqualifies both teams but that does nothing to stop the fight. Piper, once again, uses a low blow on Atlas and follows it up with a high knee life and a running bull dog on Atlas. He then goes for the towel he has in the corner and then scurries out of the ring and is looking for something underneath the ring. Again, he comes up with a spray bottle of some sort and sprays the towel. Lane Russell is heard saying Piper is again spraying the white towel with ether. Solie says that this is a bad situation but unfortunately we are out of time. We will inform you of what happens here tomorrow night right here on WTBS at 5:05. So long from Memphis, Tennessee.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/22/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

5:05-6:05

TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

47BZr7X.jpg?5

The show opens with a VTR of last night’s Main Event that was not quite over before the show ended:

Piper, once again, uses a low blow on Atlas and follows it up with a high knee life and a running bull dog on Atlas. He then goes for the towel he has in the corner and then scurries out of the ring and is looking for something underneath. Again, he comes up with a spray bottle of some sort and sprays the towel. Lane Russell is heard saying Piper is again spraying the white towel with either. Solie says that this is a bad situation but unfortunately we are out of time.

The tape continues to show Piper about to place the towel over the face of Atlas as the Fab Ones and the Sheepherders brawl on the outside. At the last second, Jerry Calhoun sees what is going on and grabs the towel from the hands of Piper. Piper now argues with the ref and this gives Atlas time to recover. He clocks Piper with a huge right hand and then whips him into the ropes and connects with a powerslam for the victory.

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We are just one night away from Memphis Roundhouse Revival and tonight should be a wild ride.

Lance Russell and Gordon Solie welcome fans to the Sunday night show on WTBS and they both put over the ending to the match we just saw. Next, they give a rundown of what’s instore for the fans tonight and they head right to the ring for the night’s first match.

MATCH: BUZZ SAWYER & HERCULES HERNANDEZ with SIR OILVER HUMPERDINK Vs RICKY GIBSON AND BRUCE DEAN

Solie discusses the upcoming match between these members of the House of Humperdink and the Russian Assassins, Alexis Smirnoff and Chris Markov on Monday night. Lance Russell pushes the idea of how dangerous this could be for all men as it is a Russian Chain Match.

As for the match it is one sided and comes to an end when Buzz Sawyer nails Bruce Dean with a monster powerslam.

Sir Oliver Humperdink and his men head to the interview desk were it is obvious that they are all crazy. Hercules Hernandez starts to hit Buzz Sawyer with his steel chain and all the Mad Dog can do is laugh. Humperdink is telling the Russian Assassins that they better watch this and think again about showing up Monday night. He continues to push the idea how his men love pain. They love to feel it and love to inflict it even more. Gordon is looking at them like they are completely nuts. It is the one time that the House of Humperdink has the backing of the crowd but even they seem to wonder how stable these guys are.

MATCH: HACKSAW REED VS NIGHTMARE #2

As for the match, Hacksaw Reed just destroys the Nightmare. The end came when Reed nearly took off the Nightmare’s head with a Short-Armed Clothesline. Reed heads right to the interview desk but he is looking very angry.

He begins by asking Solie to replay the incident from last night where Ladd and Patterson beat his partner, Sweet Brown Sugar with a boot. Solie obliges as the fans watch the tape from last night’s show.

Reed continues to talk about how last week, it was he who Ladd and Patterson attacked and now it was his partner. He goes on to say that Sweet Brown Sugar spent last night in the hospital and his ability to wrestle on Monday is in question.

This brings out Ladd and Patterson who are full of smiles. They seem really excited about their work on Sugar last night and the beating they gave Reed a week ago. In fact, Reed still has the Band-Aids on his temple as a reminder.

Ladd and Patterson begin by saying that it will be fun to beat Reed again on Monday night in their Handicap Match.

Lance Russell wonders what they are talking about. It is a tag team match and not a handicap match. Ladd starts saying NO NO NO! You must be as dumb as you look Russell. This big dummy over to my left just said Sweet Brown Sugar might not be able to wrestle on Monday so that makes it a Handicap Match. Gordon Solie says that due to the injury which they happened to cause, I am sure Butch Reed will be able to use a replacement.

Again Ladd begins, NO NO NO! I have a copy of the contract right here and right here it says that there will be NO SUBSTITUTE WRESTLERS. The muscle bound dope over here is in for the beating of his life on Monday. Ladd and Patterson raise their fist in a sign of black power and laugh all the way back to the locker room.

Reed seems just a little concerned but he vows to honor the contract by himself if Sweet Brown Sugar is unable to wrestle on Monday.

8 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH:

TOMMY RICH, JERRY LAWLER and THE FORT BRAGG BROTHERHOOD VS

MR. SAITO, KILLER KHAN AND THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS with Rock Riddle

This match gives us a glimpse of what is to come Monday night. The World Champions, Rich and Lawler, will take on the Shogunate and Ft. Bragg Brotherhood will face The Kansas Jayhawks. This is a long and drawn out match that gives each wrestler and team a chance to showcase their talent and their signature moves but it is the World Champions who seem to be off their game. Maybe this is caused by the friction between the two when Jerry Jarrett named Wildfire the #1 contender for the World Title and not Jerry Lawler. The end came after some hectic moments of 4 on 4. Rich and Saito were the legal men in the ring but Killer Khan blinded Rich with the Asian Green Mist. This allowed Saito to hook in a Saito Suplex and went for the cover. It appeared that Lawler saw this and could have easily made the save but turned his back and played to the crowd. When the bell rang, signaling the defeat of his team, he turned around and looked surprised that Rich was just pinned.

Solie and Russell wonder what that was all about but then push it off by saying Lawler must not have seen the suplex by Saito. They hope the champs will get back on the same page by tomorrow night.

COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS

_________________________________________________________________________________

The crowd explodes when we come out of the commercial break as one of their favorites, Superstar Dundee has returned to Memphis. He has been wrestling in TNT but has a title match tomorrow night in the Mid-South Coliseum. He is joined by the one and only Perfect 10, Baby Doll.

Lance Russell welcomes him back and tells him to listen to the crowd and says how much they really love you. Dundee goes to say it is great to be back but he is really enjoying himself in TNT which he reminds everybody is part of the great USWA. He spends the next few minutes talking about how he can’t wait for tomorrow night where he will face that punk Eddie Gilbert with the winner becoming the first ever TNT champion.

He also says that he has a huge match on Tuesday night in the Sportatorium for the USWA World Title against either Austin Idol or his good friend Jimmy Valiant. He reminds the fans that it can all be seen right here on WTBS.

The crowd begins to boo as Rowdy Roddy Piper comes out. Piper begins, “Well, Well, well, the dwarf of Australia has come back to Memphis! He goes on to ask Dundee how his leg is feeling and he reminds everyone that a few months ago on Piper’s Pit, he broke Dundee’s leg. He then jokes that Dundee looks even shorter after it was broke.

Dundee gets right in his face but Baby Doll tells him to relax. She goes on to say that they should never let a guy in a SKIRT get to them! Piper goes nuts screaming about how dumb they are and that is a Scottish kilt. Now it is Baby Doll’s time to laugh and she comes back and says that with Piper’s puny legs he shouldn’t be wearing a skirt or a kilt. Piper now gets in Baby Doll’s face but she is almost daring him to hit her.

All of a sudden, Sheri Martel and Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert come out and now everyone is jarring back and forth. Tony Atlas now joins Dundee and gets right in the face of Piper. From there the Sheepherders and the Fabulous Ones come out. All of the combatants from Monday night are jarring with their opponents. All of a sudden, Sheri hauls off and nails Baby Doll. She turns and these two begin to go at it. The crowd goes wild as the two beautiful, strong women are in the middle of an all-out cat fight. Martel hold the skill advantage but Baby Doll is huge at 5’9, 190. She just seems to overpower Martel and winds up with a huge haymaker. Just then, the other 8 wrestlers stop what they are doing and quickly pull Martel and Baby Doll apart.

For once in Memphis, it looks like the show will end without a chaotic brawl but the tensions are really hot. Again, Russell and Solie push Memphis Roundhouse Revival as Solie says, So long from Memphis.

The Credits roll as the wrestlers are still yelling back and forth. The screen fades to black.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/23/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

7:05-10:05

LIVE FROM THE MID-SOUTH COLISEUM MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

“Yello again everybody. Welcome to MEMPHIS ROUNDHOUSE REVIVAL and USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. This is the second prime time special here on WTBS and it is going to be amazing. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s get right to the ring.”

BAM BAM BIGELOW VS CRUSHER OTTMAN with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK

(STEEL CAGE)

Now these are two big men going out it as both Ottman and Bigelow are over 380 pounds. This feud has been boiling for a few weeks now but so far Ottman has always come out on top. The reason it is in a cage is of course, Sir Oliver Humperdink who can’t seem to not get involved.

As for the match, the crowd really loves to see these two throw each other into the steal and watch it buckle under their weight. The match is full of huge moves that has the crowd excited from the get go. After about 10 minutes, Ottman seemed to take control and caught Bigelow in a Bearhug and than ran him back first into the cage. Bigelow was in trouble but somehow rolled out of the way of Ottman’s running splash. As both men staggered to their feet, the crowd was awed at Bigelow’s agility as he caught Ottman with an Ensuiguri Kick. Ottman was in serious trouble as Bigelow climbed to the top rope. He looked up at the top of the cage and seemed to think for a moment and thought better of the climb. Instead he connected with a Moonsault off the top rope. The crowd went wild as Bigelow asked ref Jerry Calhoun to open the cage door. With confidence and Ottman still out on the mat, Bigelow walked through the door for the victory.

A great match that had the crowd going wild and Humperdink angry at his man. The only problem was that this was the first match of the night and now there was a short break to take down the cage. Bigelow did his best to entertain the crowd by doing an interview with Gordon Solie and then running laps around the ring and up and down the aisles giving high fives to the fans. He actually got the crowd so into it that they started doing the wave!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

BRUSIER BRODY & STAN HANSEN VS THE BRUISE BROTHERS (Dream Machine/Cash)

(Winner will get a USWA Tag Title shot on Next TNT Show)

While these are not wrestlers who are part of the USWA roster, they are no strangers to Memphis. The crowd is a bit torn as they are used to rooting for Brody and The Dream Machine but they are also used to hating Cash and Hansen.

In terms of support both teams get about 50 percent but as for the match it is a wild brawl from beginning to end. There seemed to be as much action outside the ring as there was in it. Each team had their ups and downs and it was really entertaining for all involved. The end came with Dream and Brody brawling on the outside and the legal men, Cash and Hansen going at it inside the ring. Hansen ducked under a huge clothesline from Cash and came off the ropes with his own Lariat that nearly took the head off of Cash. That was all that was probably needed but he scooped up Cash and slammed him to the mat with a powerbomb. At the same time, Brody was able to catch Dream Machine with a Mauling Knee Smash that left Dream unable to make the save on his partner as Hansen got the three count.

Lance Russell puts over the match and says, “This win guarantees Brody and Hansen a USWA Tag Title Match tomorrow night in the Sportatorium against the winners of Rich and Lawler against Saito and Khan.” Brody and Hansen come over for a quick word and say it doesn’t matter, they will crush either team.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

FT. BRAGG BROTHERHOOD VS THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS with Rock Riddle

Pvt. Kernodle and Cpl. Kirchner recently took offense to Dirty Dutch and Bobby Jaggers saying that they are cowards are not worthy of the Army tags they have given themselves. Riddle continued to say that if they were true heroes they would be still be in the Army and not hiding here pretending to be heroes.

As for the match, it was pretty even until “Dirty” Dutch lived up to his name and raked the eyes of Kernodle. While ref Paul Morton was admonishing him for this, Riddle pulled the legs of Kirchner off the apron which caused him to hit his head on the concrete floor. With Kirchner out, Jaggers and Dutch used some quick and dirty double team tactics to gain control. Dutch thought he had Kernodle right where he wanted as he picked him up by his hair. It looked like Dutch was going for a neckbreaker but Kernodle slipped out of it. It was now his turn for an eye rake. He quickly rolled up Dutch with an inside cradle for the 1…2..3.

Riddle was beside himself as he complaining about the eye rake. Paul Morton just waved his hands at Riddle and was heard saying, “Are you kidding. Did you watch the math at all?” By now, Kirchner had recovered enough to join in the celebration with Kernodle.

In a quick interview with Solie, the Ft. Bragg Brotherhood said they take great pride in the time they spent in the service and that they would do anything for this country. If the Kansas Jayhawks or anyone else has anything to say, they have no problem settling the dispute in the squared circle.

TNT TITLE MATCH

HOT STUFF EDDIE GILBERT with SHERI MARTEL VS SUPERSTAR DUNDEE with BABY DOLL

This match is to crown the first ever TNT Champion but the crowd is as interested in seeing if Baby Doll and Sheri Martel go at it again. Hot Stuff by Donna Summers blares as Gilbert makes his way to the ring to a chorus of boos. These Memphis fans really love their Superstar.

The match is high energy with a lot of back and forth action. Baby Doll and Sheri encourage their men but for the most part stay out of the match. That is until Sheri tripped Dundee after an Irish Whip. Baby Doll rushed over and got right on the face of Sheri and for some reason, ref Paul Morton got distracted. Dundee was just getting to his feet from the trip when Gilbert reached into his trunks for something. It looked like a roll of quarters and as Dundee turned, WHAM……. Gilbert nailed him. Gilbert covered Dundee as Paul Morton turned back to the action. Morton slapped the mat for the count of three as Lance Russell announced, “We have our first ever TNT Champion…. Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert.

USWA NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH

MR. USA TONY ATLAS VS ROWDY RODDY PIPER

A great return match here in the Mid-South Coliseum. Atlas won last month to unify the National and Southern Titles and Piper has been hounding Mr. USA all of the USWA ever sense. As always, Piper gets the crowd going by just the site of his face. The bagpipes, the kilt and the swagger set off the Mid-South Coliseum as he struts to the ring.

Those jeers quickly turn to cheers with the appearance of Tony Atlas who is wearing the belt around his waist. As the match begins, Piper does everything to stay away from the powerful Atlas. This hide and go seek game has the fans annoyed as they want to see Piper beaten to a pulp. Atlas also seemed to lose some patients as he rushed in too quickly and got caught with a low blow. Piper used this to his advantage for about the next 8 minutes. Atlas then somehow became Super Human and nothing Piper did to him bothered him. He shrugged off blow after blow until he just went wild and gave the fans the beating that they were waiting for. After a few minutes of this, Piper threw Atlas into ref Jerry Calhoun and they banged heads and each went down.

Piper now took the opportunity to get his white towel and again, he went under the ring to pull out the ether bottle. He gave it a big spray as Atlas started to make his way to his feet. Atlas again saw what was going on as he did on TV the other day. As Piper came after him with the ether soaked towel, Atlas ducked away and wound up for a wild haymaker. This time it was Piper who was ready. He blocked the punch, hit Atlas with another low blow and now wrapped the towel around the mouth and nose of Atlas. It was only seconds before Atlas was out. Piper now helped ref Jerry Calhoun to his feet and covered Atlas for the pin attempt.

Piper jumped wildly around the ring as Calhoun handed him the belt as Lance Russell announced “the winner and new USWA National Heavyweight Champion….. Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper grabs the belt as heads over to Russel and Solie where they both admonish his tactics and say that was completely unfair. Piper plays dumb and says he won the match fair and square and that everyone in Memphis is just jealous of his superior ability. The boos rained down in the Mid-South Coliseum as Piper begins his long night of celebration.

RUSSIAN CHAIN MATCH

THE RUSSIAN ASSASSINS VS BUZZ SAWYER & HERCULES HERNANDEZ with SOH

Lance Russell says that the next match shows you that in 1984 anyone who wrestles the Russians are the fan favorites. He continues to say that this will be the first time that the crowd has ever been behind the House of Humperdink.

Gordon Solie goes through what led up to this match and how another Russian, Korstia Korchenko used to be a member of the House of Humperdink but that he and Sir Oliver did not get along and this brutal Russian Chain match is the result of the animosity between the two groups. Solie continues by explaining the rules of the match are that all 4 men will be chained together by a 15 foot steel chain and they only way you win is by dragging your opponents to all four corners of the ring.

As the Russians hit the ring in their red singlets with the Hammer and Sickle on it and waving the Russian flag, the fans are out for blood. Just the opposite occurs as Humperdink leads Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez to the ring. Sawyer and Hernandez could care less about the fans but are ready for a wild match.

Ref Jerry Calhoun locks the 4 men into the chain and the War is on! Just as you would expect in such a match, all 4 men are using the chain with reckless abandon and all 4 are wearing a Crimson Mask of blood soon after the start. The end comes after Hercules Hernandez nails Kris Markov with the chain and he is down. Sawyer and Hernandez than double team Smirnoff for a few minutes until Hernandez puts him in the Backbreaker Rack. Sawyer then wraps the chain around his face and climbs to the top rope. He connects with a Frog Splash on Smirnoff who in a wild move is flipped out of the Backbreaker Rack onto the matt and his face is teaming blood. Hernandez and Sawyer copy the same double team move on Markov and then they each drag a member of the Iron Curtain around the ring as ref Jerry Calhoun counts.

The crowd goes wild as the Russians have taken the beating of a lifetime! Sawyer actually looks at the crowd like this is something he could get used to.

HACKSAW REED VS ERNIE LADD & THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON

This match has turned into a handicap match as Sweet Brown Sugar is still in the hospital due to the beating he receive by Ladd and Cash this week. Hacksaw Reed is going to give it his best shot but a 2-1 match against the likes Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson seems like a tall task.

As for the match, Reed gives it all he has and is in control of the match for the first 5 or 6 minutes and even came close to a pin after a short armed clothesline nearly took off Ladd’s head. Eventually the numbers game got to Reed and he was in serious trouble. Reed was taking some serious damage including a few Big Boots from Ladd. Reed was so delirious at one point he seemed to go to his corner and reach for a tag even though nobody was there. He then just fall flat on his face. Ladd and Patterson punished Reed really badly.

All of a sudden the crowd erupts as Sweet Brown Sugar, with his head bandaged and with a crutch hits the ring and starts swinging like a wild man. Ref Jerry Calhoun immediately calls for the bell and DQ’s Reed and Sugar but Ladd and Patterson beat a hasty retreat. Sugar helps Reed to his feet and the two embrace. Sweet Brown Sugar has truly endeared himself to the USWA fans.

Reed and Sugar head to the interview desk where Reed says he can’t believe the courage of the man to his right. He goes on to say that he was in the hospital and under doctor’s orders not to wrestle but he saved my butt tonight without any thought of his own health. He goes on to tell Sweet Brown Sugar that he owes him one and again they embrace.

USWA NATIONAL TAG TITLE MATCH

THE SHEEPHERDERS VS THE FABULOUS ONES

This was everything that was expected of this match. From the wild entrances of both teams to the action inside and outside of the ring. You could just feel the hatred between these teams. After about 25 minutes of craziness, the Sheepherders had Stan Lane trapped in their corner and were really working him over good. Steve Keirn couldn’t take it anymore and rushed the ring but ref Paul Morton stopped him and forced him back to his corner. This gave Butch Williams the chance to grab the New Zealand flag and ram the butt of the pole into the throat of Lane. Keirn saw this and rushed back in but again, Morton pushed him back out. Williams continued to use the flag pole as a weapon as he saw that Morton was still distracted. Lane was writhing in pain as Morton turned around and Williams pretended to be only waving the flag pole. Morton now admonished him and got rid of the “weapon.” While this was going on, Keirn crawled on the outside of the ring to Lane and pulled him out and rolled himself, face down, into the ring. Butch Williams and Ref Paul Morton never saw this and when Miller went to pick up Lane he was surprised by Keirn and an inside cradle for the 3 count. He quickly rolled out of the ring to Lane and begin to celebrate before anyone could figure it out.

The fans and the Fab Ones celebrate the victory as again, Lance Russell announces we have new champions. The Fabulous Ones are the new USWA National Tag Team Champions.

They both head over to Gordon Solie who asks Keirn about that last move and Keirn kind of just smiled at him. Solie finished with “Fair enough” as the Fabulous Ones walk off set.

Lance Solie puts over the next upcoming World Title Match between the champ, Austin Idol and Jimmy Valiant.

USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH

AUSTIN IDOL with ROCK RIDDLE VS JIMMY VALIANT

As we have come out of break, Jerry Jarrett is on set as Lance Russell welcomes him to show. Lance Russell informs the audience that Mr. Jarrett has a very important announcement.

Jarrett thanks Lance and informs the fans that unfortunately due to circumstances out of his control, Jimmy Valiant is not in the arena. The fans start to moan as Austin Idol and Rock Riddle now appear on set. They go on about how they knew Valiant was a coward and they knew he wouldn’t show up to face the Perfect Champion. Riddle says well Idol will enjoy a night off and they start to walk off set.

Jarrett announces that Valiant was in a minor car accident and was sent to the hospital but he will be fine in a day or two. He then asks Idol and Riddle to hold a minute and that it will not be a night off. In fact, he says that he has found the “Perfect” replacement for Valiant. He goes on to say that this person is an icon to the wrestling industry here in Tennessee.

The crowd begins to chant, “Law-ler, Law-ler, Law-ler.

Jarrett informs the crowd that Lawler would be a wonderful replacement but that there are rules to this procedure. He informs Idol, Riddle and the crowd that it is none other than Henderson, Tennessee Native and #1 Contender, Tommy “Wildfire” Rich who will replace Jimmy Valiant.

Riddle and Idol begin to protest but it is the crowd at the Mid-South Coliseum who are really upset and they let Jarrett have it. Lawler comes out to a huge ovation and he can’t believe that Rich has accepted the match. He goes on to say that Rich and I have a World Tag Title Defense tonight against Mr. Saito and Killer Khan and how can Rich do both. Jarrett guarantees Lawler that he spoke to Tommy and that Tommy ensured him he could do both and that you would be okay with it. Lawler just shakes his head and walks off set. Jarrett orders Idol and Riddle to the ring and the ring announcer calls out Wildfire.

The fans are really letting Rich have it and he seems really surprised. As for the match it is a long and drawn out match that almost goes the 30 minute time limit. Both wrestlers have given everything they have. The legs of Rich really took a beating as he was trapped in the Las Vegas Leglock for about 5 minutes and Idol and Riddle used the ropes and each other for extra leverage. Rich refused to submit. He was finally able to break the hold broken as he reached the ropes. He stumbles around for a few more minutes as he tried to get his legs under him but you could tell he was in trouble. Idol backs him into the corner and starts throwing haymakers. Somehow Rich answers each blow with a blow of his own. His heart has won back some of the crowd. The end came when Rich ducks under a clothesline and comes off the ropes and nails Idol with a Lou Thesz Press. Ref Jerry Calhoun makes the 3 count as Riddle and Idol and in shock. The camera closes in on Idol’s face and you can almost see a smirk of admiration for what Rich just accomplished. Fans need to remember that these two have a long history and most of that was as allies. Idol seems almost happy that if he had to lose, that it was to Rich.

For the fourth time tonight, Lance Russell is announcing a new champion. This time it is for the USWA World Title!

Rich goes over to Gordon Solie who really seems excited and Rich thanks him and then he guarantees the fans that he is ready for his next match but they seem concerned as he is still having trouble walking.

USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

TOMMY RICH & JERRY LAWLER VS MR. SAITO & KILLER KHAN

It is right back to the ring for Wildfire as Gordon Solie wonders if he and Lawler can get back on the same page. The Memphis fans are really angry with Rich but he can be forgiven with a good showing here. It is quickly apparent that they will not be the case. Rich is so worn out from the match with Idol that he has nothing in the tank. Lawler did his best to carry the match but he also begins to be worn out by Saito and Khan.

When Lawler tagged Rich into the match, he had nothing. He was being beaten from pillar to post and was lucky that Lawler made save after save. Lawler finally had enough and went wild clearing the ring by himself but he was soon forced out of the ring by ref Paul Morton.

Somehow Wildfire made a tag and again Lawler carried the match. He came close to pinning Killer Khan after a top rope fist drop but Saito made the save. Khan and Lawler began to double team The King and Rich never even made it into the ring to help his partner. He was draped over the ropes with his head down. Khan chopped away at Lawler and finally Saito came in and connected with 3 straight Suplexes. Lawler managed to kick out at 2 ½ each time

Saito became frustrated that Lawler kept kicking out so he began to fire away with huge Judo chops followed by the Prison Lock which is a Kneeling Figure 4. Lawler refused to submit and the fans kept trying to encourage him but he was trapped in the center of the ring. He was trapped for about 5 minutes and the fans began to worry of permanent damage to their hero. The fans were screaming at Rich to get in there but Rich was unable to do anything. Next, he made a decision that will make him a heel in Memphis for a long time. He decided to throw in the white towel. The ref took a moment to understand what had happened and so did Saito. Finally the ref called for the bell and raised the hand of Saito. Saito finally realized they had won and released the hold. Rich wobbles into the ring and tries to help Lawler but Lawler wants nothing of it. He is furious.

Khan and Saito celebrate in the ring as Lance Russell announces for the 5th time tonight we have new champions. Saito and Khan are the new USWA World Tag Team Champions but it is not them who the fans are upset with. It is Wildfire Rich who needs security to help him get back to the locker room as the fans are belting him with anything they can launch.

The crowd is really becoming unruly and looks to be on the verge of rioting as Gordon Sole says so long from the Mid-South Coliseum. Rich is seen smiling and pointing to his new World Title.

Two things...

1. I think I have your roster up to date. I know there will be more changes over the next week, but I think it is where it needs to be right now...

2. I have to give you MAJOR UPS for what you have done here. You are doing a LOT of work and it is coming together great. I like what you have done with the stars and I look forward to where it will go in the future. I have my USWA favorites and they still do some serious work in an ocean of talent. I know you and I have talked about some joint plans and I think that what you have done is a great benchmark.

I want to relate it to real life. In our world, the USWA has taken over the "WWF" role in the world of wrestling. The rest of us are doing our Territory thing while you have the one promotion trying to do the national thing. You are making great strides like the rest of us and I sincerely applaud you hard work!

I agree with the statements above. The expansion has been working really well, and the amount of effort can be seen in everything you've been doing. The angle's have been super fun to read and the major events that happen on the bigger shows give those a special feeling. I've really enjoyed seeing the rise of the USWA, and it's continuing expansion.

USWA WRESTLING: 4/28/1984: WTBS

SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY

6:05-8:05

TAPED IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA

The show opens with a VTR Tommy Rich winning the World Title over Austin Idol and then a second tape of Rich and Lawler losing the World Titles to the Shogunate.

“Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Gordon Solie and we have a jam packed show tonight.

Gordon Solie welcome Wildfire Rich to the set and as Tommy comes to the set, it is obvious that he has something on his mind. Gordon congratulations him on winning the World Title but he goes on and also reminds the fans that just after that victory, Tommy and Jerry the King Lawler lost the World Tag Titles to Mr. Saito and Killer Khan. Tommy shakes his head and is obviously upset. He is talking low and dejectedly. He goes on to say he would just like to say he is sorry to the fans of Memphis and to his great buddy Jerry Lawler. He takes full blame for losing the Tag titles and says he hopes Jerry Lawler can forgive him.

Gordon Solie makes the fans day when he says “tonight our Main Event will be the rematch for the USWA World Tag Team Titles. It will be Jerry Lawler and Wildfire Rich vs Mr. Saito and Killer Khan. Tommy Rich is still just shaking his head and says he doesn’t think Lawler is even going to show up tonight.

The fans in Atlanta notice that Lawler is now coming to the set and they erupt because they know that there main event will now take place. Lawler begins by saying “How big it is of you to take responsibility for the tag lose.” Wildfire again says he is sorry and he will do everything in his power to regain those tag titles. Lawler just shakes his head. “You dumb hick! Can’t you tell sarcasm when you hear it. What you did last Monday night was the most selfish act I have ever seen. I will NEVER be your partner again. Last week I was upset that you were named the #1 contender to the World Title because I knew you were going to beat Idol and then it would bother me when I took the title from you because we were friends. Now it is going to my pleasure taking that belt from a punk like you. Wildfire now begins to fight back as Solie tries to keep order. Rich continues about how he made a mistake but if you can’t get over one mistake then you’re not half the man I thought you were. He continues by saying that you might be the King of Memphis but here in Atlanta GA, I am the King and if you think I am just going to bow down and kiss your stinking feet, you got another thing coming.

Lawler responds, “There is just one more thing.” WHAM!

Lawler sucker punches Rich and walks off set. Rich looks dejectedly at the ground. As they head to break, it is Gordon Solie who wonders if Lawler and Rich can get back on the same page for tonight’s main event.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

Gordon Solie gives a rundown of tonight’s show and gives a quick review on the wrestling spectacular that took place in Memphis on April 23rd before welcoming in the Sir Oliver Humperdink and his “House.” Solie notices that Humperdink is joined by Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez but not Crusher Ottman who was beaten last Monday by Bam Bam Bigelow. Solie mentions this to Humperdink who goes on the tell Solie “How smart you must be to state the obvious.” He goes on to say that he is done with the fat tube of garbage Ottman. How can he allow some worthless piece of garbage that can’t even beat Bigelow in his stable. He continues on by saying that he is in search of new stable members and has a mega deal in the works. He tells Solie to watch the destruction that is about to take place in the ring.

MATCH: Hercules Hernandez with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Brett Wayne

This is a total squash match where Hercules just throws Wayne from pillar to post. The end comes after Wayne frantically submits after being tortured in the Backbreaker Rack. The ref continues to call for the bell but Hernandez refuses to release the hold. It goes on and on until finally the ref reverses his decision and declares Wayne the winner. This means little to Hernandez and Humperdink. Humperdink is heard screaming “break him in half.”

Buzz Sawyer hits the ring and the fans think that Wayne is in for more torture but Mad Dog goes completely berserk on Hernandez. Crusher Ottman hits the scene and does the same to Humperdink. The beatings go on for quite some time until Hernandez and Humperdink escape to the locker room.

Sawyer helps Wayne to his feet and gives him an embrace. The crowd is confused. Ottman puts his hand out to Sawyer who looks at it for a minute before shaking it. The three then head to the interview desk.

Sawyer grabs the mic and just begins screaming, “I told you. I told you. Anybody else! Anybody else.” Solie asks Sawyer to explain. Sawyer goes on to say that family is family and he told Humperdink not to do what he just did. Solie again seems confused and asks for more information. Buzz goes on to say that this is his younger brother and that Humperdink was told to go easy on him. Solie and the fans are in shock and they feel sorry for Sawyer and his brother. Ottman goes on to say that if the Sawyers will allow it, he would like to help them rid wrestling of Humperdink. They all shake hands as the Atlanta fans can’t believe that Sawyer is on their side now. WOW! What will the champ think about this one?

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

As we come out of break, we again see Tommy Rich at the interview desk. Tommy informs us that we he went back to the locker room to again try and patch things up with Lawler but Lawler had already left the building.

All of a sudden, Eddie Graham walks on to the set. Gordon Solie welcomes Graham to the USWA. These two have a great working relationship due to Solie’s time in Championship Wrestling from Florida. Eddie thanks Gordon and says he has two huge announcements. First, he tells everyone that Jerry Jarrett and the USWA have parted ways. He then goes on to announce that he will be the new temporary President of the USWA and that he is so excited to be a part of the newest and brightest wrestling organization around.

Gordon Solie seems surprised but is excited. He then asks if that is why he is solo tonight and that Lance Russell is not here. Graham informs him that there will be a lot of changes here in the USWA. Those changes will include roster changes, personal changes and venue changes. He tells the fans throughout Florida, Alabama and Georgia to get ready for the best wrestling show in the business. He says the USWA has nothing but respect for Mr. Jerry Jarrett and they wish him well and hope that they can continue together in some form of a working relationship.

Graham goes on and talks about the second big announcement. He says he heard that Jerry Lawler has left the studio and that Tommy Rich should not be punished for Lawler’s actions and neither should the fans in studio or at home be punished. He says there will be a WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH RIGHT HERE TONIGHT!

Rich asks Graham who his partner will be and Graham goes over to Wildfire and whispers into his ear and a smile from ear to ear comes across Rich’s face.

The fans are all a buzz and these announcements and wonder who Tommy will be partner with tonight.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

MATCH: MIKE GRAHAM VS TED ALLEN

Gordon Solie is excited and puts over newcomer Mike Graham in a big way and says he knows Mike well from his days announcing in Florida and tells the fans they are in for a treat.

As for the match it is pretty long and drawn out with a lot of technical moves. After a while, Ted Allen tired of this style and tried surprising Mike with an uppercut in the corner. Graham ducked under this and then decided what was good for the goose was good for the gander and went wild on Allen. The end comes when Graham put Allen into the Figure 4 and forced the submission.

Graham went over to Solie and said how wonderful it was to be here in the USWA.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

Piper’s Pit with Special Guests: Eddie Graham

EryMgg8s.jpg?2

Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and are standing behind him with their arms folded. Piper has his USWA NATIONAL TITLE around his waist as a VTR begins to play. It is of Piper winning the belt last week over Tony Atlas but it is a doctored tape and only shows the legal things Piper did and the ref making the 3 count. It leaves out him using the ether soaked towel to knock out Atlas.

Piper then goes on to say that this next guest was not scheduled but has demanded that he come on to Piper’s Pit tonight. Piper continues by saying once you win the title everyone wants to come up to you and shake your hand.

Eddie Graham comes out and Piper is being phony to his new boss right away. Graham tells Piper to pipe down and this will be quick. First of all, Eddie says that he disagrees with the tactics Piper is using and he better change his ways. Graham also demands that Piper wrestle Tony Atlas right here on WTBS tomorrow night and if Piper is disqualified for any reason, he will lose the belt. Graham than proceeds to walk of set and Piper is furious and is muttering to himself. It is the first time Piper has been at a loss for words and is duped on his own Piper’s Pit.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

MATCH: Hacksaw Butch Reed s Wendell Cooley

While the fans are really behind Reed, by the end of this one the crowd almost felt sorry for the rookie Wendell Cooley. Reed hit him with ever major move you could think of before ending it was a Gorilla Press Slam. The match took less than 3 minutes but it must have felt like an eternity to Cooley.

Reed makes his way to Solie and he is in a foul mood. He is yelling about how he is sick and tired of Ernie Ladd and anyone stupid enough to follow him. He demands a match against Ladd right here tomorrow night with Ladd. All of a sudden Ron Fuller appears and agrees with Reed and tells him that he will sanction any type of match for tonight and asks Reed what he wants.

Reed thinks a minute before shooting out…. Taped Fist Match!

The crowd begins to stir as Ernie Ladd comes to the set.

“So punk, you want a taped fist match! You got it you big dumb muscled bound nothing. I am 6’9 and I will pound you into the ground. The two get into each other’s faces but cooler heads prevail.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

Match: The Sheepherders vs Ricky Gibson and Rick McGraw

The Sheepherders, fresh off of losing the National Tag Titles, really put it on Gibson and McGraw. The match is brutal from beginning to end and the fans are amazed that the Fabulous Ones beat them.

After the match, the Sheepherders head to the interview desk where they are pacing and screaming about how the Fabulous Ones cheated and they don’t know who they messed with. Solie takes a risk here and asks the Sheepherders if they have ever broken the rules. Both Williams and Miller threaten Solie and really let him have it verbally.

------------------------------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS------------------------------------------

MAIN EVENT MATCH

USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE

Mr. Saito & Killer Khan vs Tommy Wildfire Rich & A Mystery Partner

The champs are first to enter the ring and they are very confident and let the fans have it on the way to the ring. The fans seem really excited for this one and give it right back to them.

Wildfire comes to the ring next and he is alone. The Shogunate begin to close in before the bell but all of a sudden there is a ROAR form the crowd. Gordon Solie is hear saying, And it looks like… yes…. It is indeed… “THE AMERICAN DREAM DUSTY” RHODES!

The Shogunate quickly back pedal to the corner and are in complete shock! The bell sounds and it is Wildfire and Saito who are the legal men as Dusty stomps on the apron to get the crowd going even more. It was this energy that carried Rich and Dusty to have most of the momentum in the early part of the match.

This momentum changed as Saito was able to catch Dusty off guard with a huge chop to the forehead. It was now the villains turn to take control. They used some nasty double team moves to put Dusty in a bad way. Khan tagged in Saito and Saito grabbed Dusty by the arms. Khan spins around and goes to spray The Asian Green Mist into the eyes of Dusty but he ducks under and Khan actually sprays Saito. Dusty turns and nails Saito with a Bionic Elbow which had Saito stumbling. Dusty leans out and tags in Rich who hits the ropes and nails Saito with a Lou Thesz Press and goes for the cover. As the ref begins the count Khan rushes over.

WHAM…… Dusty hits Khan with another Bionic Elbow as the ref counts 3!

Solie really puts a lot of energy into this one. “AND WE HAVE NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS. WHAT A NIGHT. EDDIE GRAHAM HAS THIS ALL MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW NIGHT RIGHT HERE ON WTBS!
