[2000-04-01-Michinoku Pro-Super J Cup] CIMA vs Ricky Marvin

Recommended Posts

April starts off with a bang. Super fun five minute match that didn't feel lacking in any way. I noticed when they did the wide shot that people were still filing in, but based on the heat, you wouldn't know that had they not done the wide shot. This was fast-paced and a total bombfest, and a great way to start the tournament to get people excited about what would be ahead. ***1/4

It makes me sad to see all of these empty seats for the Super J Cup. Really fun sprint. Marvin was on here and it really worked with his flash to go against CIMA character and base. CIMA also has some great moves to hold up his own. For six minutes, you can’t ask for much more as an opener as this got me excited about the rest of the show as a whole. ***

I am very eager to sift through the J Cup and I'll agree immediately that this was a blast for five minutes. Ricky Marvin feels really fresh at this point and although CIMA is far from my favorite guy, he added a lot here as well. A thoroughly fun sprint but I'm even more excited to see some different J Cup pairings.

This is a very fun sprint with these guys doing a very good job for the little time that they are given. They fit a lot of spots in here, but they were crisp and effectively done. This was a nice highlight of Ricky Marvin's skills with them doing a good job of it appearing like he could pull out the upset. ***1/4

Super fun 5 minute sprint here really put over to a higher level by a super hot crowd. In front of a dead crowd something like this would be totally forgettable but an invested crowd is really essential for a match like this and it's not always a given. Marvin is always tons and tons of fun even this early on. Maybe more so this early on actually.

Yeah, I agree with the above sentiment, this was a super fun opening round match. Both guys looked really good here. Really dug CIMA's Venus here as it looks better than it does most of the time.

Despite being really short, they went all out from the get go and delivered the fun.

CIMA vs. Ricky Marvin - M-Pro Super J Cup: 3rd Stage - Day 1 (04/01/00)

This is a bite-sized match - but it’s a good, action-packed showcase for both performers. Tournament sprints, yay.
