Episode 60

June 4, 1983 (WCCW 75)

This territory is so friggin' hot right now. Hot feuds, hot talent, and hot crowds mixed with top-notch TV production equals a great product. The only glaring weakness is the commentary. Always the God damn commentary... Oh well, this week the boys look at:

-Chris Adams kickin' some ass, but still stuck in the curtain jerker

-Kamala vs Johnny Rich: Replace J-O-H-N-N with T-O-M-M and this would be a killer match

-David Von Erich and Bill Mercer ride horses together...um...yeah

-Kerry Von Erich vs Michael Hayes, and it's not even the main event! Because...

-David vs Garvin for the held up Texas heavyweight title IS the main event!

The boys review one of the most well-regarded matches in WCCW history, a wild and unique 8-man elimination match between the Von Erich's/Iceman and the Freebirds/Jimmy Garvin! Also on the show...

-Chris Adams hits a superkick off the TOP ROPE!!! (take that, 2019 wrestling)

-Poolside with the 'Birds

-Ken Johnson: The Man Who Doesn't Exist

-And Kerry's mystery partner is revealed!...in the lamest possible way

World Cast What The--?!: The Battle of Breakfast Cereal

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-what-the-the-battle-of-breakfast-cereal

Johnny and Kelly take a walk on the weird side and check out a one-of-a-kind show put on by the AWA in 1989. Everybody ready for the BATTLE OF BREAKFAST CEREAL!?!?!?

The Hyatt Hotel in Minneapolis is the site of one of the strangest shows in wrestling history. It's Kellogg's (aka the "Good Guys") vs. General Mills (the "Bad Guys") and all the stars are here: Nutra Rockne, Dr. K, Hondo the Honeybee Haymaker, Mr. Oat-portunity, and many more. Also, we get motivational speeches/crazed propaganda from genuine Kellogg's executives. It's pure insanity, folks.

So grab a bowl of your favorite Kellogg's cereal, maybe some weed, curl up and watch the show on the Network, and then tune into the pod. It's all part of a balanced breakfast!

We've been podcasting to the niche of the niche since we started Titans. This is the ultimate version as I only wanted to do this for two people. And they know who they are. :)

June 18, 1983 (WCCW 77)

The go-home show for International Star Wars provides the boys with a, shall we say, noteworthy episode to review. Highlights include...

-Weird tag teams: Iceman/Johnny Mantell and Mongol/Buddy Roberts? Sure, why the heck not

-Kevin Von Erich and his wacky fashion sense

-Just when you thought cheesy gimmicks were a thing of the past, MR. EBONY says "hold my beer"

-Terry Gordy vs Kerry Von Erich for the Brass Knucks title...and, oh my, what a freakin' AWESOME-looking title belt it is!

Episode 67

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-67

July 30, 1983 (WCCW 83)

Bit of a mixed bag for the boys to break down this week, but mostly still awesome. Highlights/lowlights include...

-Mongol/Gordy vs Iceman/Adams in a neat little hidden gem of a tag

-Who is Rock Riddle, and is he more than just a wrestler?

-David to Garvin: "You touched me in a personal way you've never touched me before"

Episode 68

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-68

August 6, 1983 (WCCW 84)

The dog days of summer hit the territory, as it feels like things need to be built back up after two major Star Wars shows. Thus, the boys need to flex their podcasting muscles a bit to make things interesting. This week they look at...

-Chris Adams visiting the Dallas Americans of the NASL!*

-Chris Adams revisiting his feud with the Mongol (Dear God, will it ever end?)

-The Iceman vs Mr. Ebony: a match with serious stakes, at least according to Bill Mercer

-DOUBLE MAIN EVENT: Hayes/Roberts/Garvin vs the Von Erich's AND, from Ft. Worth TV June 18 or 25 , Kevin vs Garvin for the American title! (sorry, Castaways, it's not found on the Network)

*Actually, just Googled, they were part of the short-lived American Soccer League (ASL)

World Cast Presents: The Last of the Von Erichs

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-presents-the-last-of-the-von-erichs

The boys get together for a review of the recently aired Dark Side of the Ring documentary, The Last of the Von Erichs. They share their thoughts on the quality of the film, examine historical inaccuracies, and fill in details the documentary may have missed. This is a very good documentary, so everyone check it out (you know where, *wink wink*) and then check out the pod

The boys discuss various conspiracies, cocaine, the quality of the various talking heads, cocaine, Billy Jack Haynes' possible involvement (???) and, of course, cocaine. This is a great listen, so everyone check it out!

Episode 69

https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-69

August 13, 1983 (WCCW 85)

Sometimes the week's show is just a show. This is definitely one of those weeks. Highlights, as they are, include...

-Mr. Ebony squashes some poor schlub. Mike something

-A decent tag match featuring Lothario/Adams vs Markus/Mongol

-Iceman vs Buddy for the first time since the hair vs hair match

-Kerry vs Hayes in a main event matchup that sounded much more exciting only a few months ago

Yes, a bit of staleness has set in, despite the territory still being red hot. Can the boys possibly survive this momentary inconvenience without tapping out???*

*Of course they can. They survived 1982 for Christ's sake. Anyway, this show was recorded about a month ago and doesn't reflect recent developments. And Kelly is plagued by dreaded "real life responsibilities" so there wont be a show next week, but hopefully the following one. Dont worry, Castaways, we will be back!

-Memories of the 1986 Crockett Cup as young fans
-A rundown of the events that led to the tournament
-The Fantastics stealing the show with two awesome matches
-Canada coming up lame
-The Road Warriors extremely poor choice for entrance music
-More mullets than you can shake a stick at
-And much, much more

-Part two drops in one week. Don't miss it fans!

That's interesting. It TOTALLY doesn't work as entrance music, especially for the Roadies.

Also, speaking of Wrestlerock and something that came up on the show, Wrestlerock was the very next day, April 20. In addition to the Roadies, Wahoo, Tiger Mask, Baba, Fabs, and Jimmy Garvin worked both shows, plus Martel who was at the Superdome but didnt wrestle

-The Koloffs vs Doc and Taylor in a true hidden gem
-Does the most famous match from the tournament, Fantastics vs Sheepherders, hold up as an all-time classic in 2019?
-TA and Ron Garvin: Meh
-Duggan vs Slater: Ok
-Flair vs Rhodes: Familiarity breeds contempt
-The Finals: Meh

Personally, I dont have the time to watch and record until around the 22nd or so (my life has been unusually busy the last few months), but perhaps Pete and Johnny may be up for it

And thanks for all the positive comments. Hopefully things will be back on track by the fall and the three of us will review more non-World Class stuff as it becomes available on the Network
