Anybody here have any vices? By that I mean smoking, a particular candy or fast food, strange German pornography, stuff like that.

I for one, drink WAY too much Diet Coke. I know it is technically "0 calories" but there's no way that much aspartame can be good for me. I have tried to stop drinking it several times (I'm pretty sure it is the reason I get acid reflux) but I keep going back and drinking it.

I've been married for 11 years and have a 7 year old daughter. I've taught English in Japan for 12 years and am currently working with pre-schoolers.

I used to be a heavy smoker (30+ a day) but I quit when my wife was pregnant. Haven't smoked a cigarette for 8 years. I drink too much, though, and always seem to have some drink or sweet I need to buy on a daily basis. I've gone through phases of being addicted to Coke. The cola stuff not the white stuff.

Diet coke, I am with you.

Coke Zero is mine. Used to drink regular Coke since my mom was a self-described "Cokeaholic", but in my 30s I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic and had to cut out the excess sugars. Switching to Coke Zero was my primary diet change and it was a big part of me losing 60 pounds. My wife likes to jokingly give me shit about all the Coke Zero I drink, and I tell her since I don't smoke and rarely drink it's the best vice I could have.

Alcohol is my main vice and has been for years. I enjoy the social aspects of drinking, I like matching drinks with food, and I like trying new drinks. The drinking culture in Japan is just great. There are a lot of really good, inexpensive places to get a drink and some food near my home. I love the local sake. Craft beer culture has taken off in this region in the last couple of years. I enjoy a plum-based drink very much in the summer.

I used to drink heavily about three times a month, and have at least one drink about 5 times a week. Since my second daughter was born, I have cut way down. I only get drunk about once a month, and have a drink or two maybe three times a week.

And... Speaking of food...

What are your top 5 foods?

1 - Gyoza (there are two different Osho no Gyoza shops within a short walk from my place) great with beer.

2 - Yakitori (generally when I go drinking with my friends we go to a yakitori bar a/k/a izakaya) great with beer or sake

3 - Karaage (Japanese fried chicken.~ Fugu karaage is good, too) beer

4 - Sushi (there are two really good inexpensive chain sushi places in Nara: Sushi Ro and Kura Sushi. 100 yen per plate - about one dollar - and delicious) beer or sake or green tea

5 - Cheeseburgers (I haven't gone 100 percent native yet) beer or pop :)

I am all about Italian food. Generally southern when out, northern at home. Went to Italy a few years ago and since then importing proper olive oil has been my big splurge. It is the greatest thing ever. Try to always eat healthy during the week and pay no mind to what I'm eating when out on a Saturday.

I have a 7 month old, two other kids, and a 90 minute commute. Yeah, I consume a lot of caffeine. I wouldn't say I was necessarily addicted to one specific drink though. Diet Dr. Pepper is my soda of choice.

While I have a small frame and am not wildly overweight or anything, I do eat more than I'd like (and stress eat). Some of it is that my body starved itself for years without me realizing. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2012 after an endoscopy after some ulcers. They caught it early due to the ulcers so damage hadn't been done yet but it turned out my body had been starving itself for a few years. I never quite regulated so it takes a lot for me to feel full.

Generally I can exercise (I watched a lot of wrestling while on an exercise bike) but the new baby makes that nigh-impossible.

Gordi, we gotta hang out sometime lol.

As for vices? I love craft beer. IPA's bore the shit out of me and unfortunately they've dominated the scene since craft became "mainstream" here in the states. But I love me a nice Belgian dark (Maudite) or a Gueuze. When I brewed I was really into making Imperial Stouts. Right now I'm trying to rediscover some classic German styles. I'm liking Krystalweizens lately. I've been diabetic (type 1) since I was seven years old but I'm extremely active so my beer habit has never affected my health. Which reminds me...

I've seen a few people here mention they've tried DDP Yoga. I was wondering how are your results? I used to do nothing but lift weights. Cardio was only done as a necessity. I started DDP Yoga to mix things up and it led to me taking on running as a hobby. I went from barely being able to run a mile to running 20-30 miles a week in a couple years. I honestly believe DDP's program helped me get my shit together. I don't even care about strength anymore as I'm getting older. It's all about keeping the motor running. So, any other DDP success stories?

I kinda hate the term "vices" for shit you have under control or diet soda. The Vice Squad of 1947 Los Angeles wasn't cracking down on soda pop. 😀

And I love to cook. Italian food has been my go to for years, but lately I've been trying different recipes I find on those recipe sites, for things outside my wheelhouse. Anyone else enjoy cooking? And sharing recipes would be a great use of this thread.

No shit. I'm there half admitting I kinda had an alcohol issue at one time and these fuckers are like "Oh, I drink a lot of soda and like coffee too much."

Plus, let's say it outright : if you live in America, you don't actually drink *coffee*. What passes for coffee on the other side of the Atlantic is a piss poor excuse for coffee.

Like I said before. Never did sports, hates it. Was always thin, kinda skinny. With age and alcohol consumption, I kinda got a bit a fat around my waist and face. Then : I've been doing DDP Yoga for a year or so (after the first year I actually got the App, and it's pretty great, so much stuff there to not get bored). I'm mostly doing Advanced/Extreme level stuff now (I'm slowly on my way to do one of these stupid extreme psycho push-ups), coupled with a few easier routines. Best shape ever at 42. I almost got abs, for fuck's sake. Yeah, if I was able to do that (without bothering to diet or stop drinking when I feel like it, which is more often than I should), anyone can, really.

I am seriously considering DDP Yoga for my weight problem. Because I'm so damn big, I am starting to get back and joint pain, and my mobility and flexibility has been greatly reduced. I figure maybe DDP Yoga could help with my flexibility, and from what I hear you can really lose weight doing it, even though it appears to be low impact anaerobic exercise.

I can cook, and would love to talk more about my favorite foods/recipes etc., but that will have to wait until later. I just worked a 12 hour night shift and if I don't go to bed very soon I may pass out and faceplant on my keyboard, I'm so damn tired. I just took one of my dogs for a long walk too, so I am really fading.

This might be true at the corner diner, or everywhere 30 years ago, but much of America gives an extreme shit about good coffee these days.

Love cooking, especially chilli, curries, and soups.

I like grilling and experimenting there. I learned to do really good grilled pineapple a couple of years ago and it's amazing. With the oven, I don't care as much. But I usually go into each summer with a few items I want to try out on the grill.

For myself:

Music:

As my username might suggest I am a massive fan of Manic Street Preachers They are my favorite band ever and their music has affected and influenced me more than any other media, wrestling included. Other music i listen to will include the likes of radiohead, the clash, elastica, dead Kennedys, liberteens, NIN, Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Sleeper, strokes, Suede, Verve and wolf Alice. Mostly punk and alt rock stuff.

Tv:

I dont watch all that much, i will watch game of thrones when it comes back on but I really have not cared for the last two series of it, really when it went off the books I lost interest very quickly. For other TV I don't really watch any now, that is helped by not actually having a TV as being a student I cannot be bothered to waste the little money I have to pay for a TV license when i dont want to watch much.

Sports:

I keep up with cricket and formula 1 the most, I support somerset in the county championship but dont support England in the internationals, it is the standard thing for a welsh person to do in sport, just support whoever is playing England. I was a fan of Australia until recently when Steve Smith (who i thought was the best batsman in the world and the best since Sachin) decided to resort to cheating along with Warner and Bancroft, now Lehnman was almost definitely involved as was probably some of the bowlers such as starc but they were just not caught. In F1 I dont like any of the three front teams, really despised red bull from 2010-2013 and that bled over into now same with Mercedes winning everything recently and Vettel has always struck me as a petulant child and I dont enjoy him either. I mainly support the midpack teams of force india, Mclaren and haas. Alonso will always have a special place for me due to him being the first guy I remember from f1 in around 2006.

I am 19 and living and studying at Univeristy and am doing Modern History and Politics. I am not married or in a relationship, A girl I was dating for a short while broke up with me a few weeks ago :( . I don't work a proper job at the moment just doing casual jobs that are advertised by the uni and usually for the uni each of which will last for around a day but i get paid about £10 an hour for it.

I presume you listened to the Warner media interview a day or so after? In my eyes, what he didn't say, confirmed what most think about the situation and the three of them were the fall guys for everyone else involved. Lehmann absolutely knew what was going on, not to mention Smith's talk of a 'leadership group' that came up with the plan. Surely a 'leadership group' would include one of their senior bowlers (Starc, Lyon) and when has two people ever been considered a 'group'? I doubt we'll ever find out know, or at least not until one of them writes a book many years down the line.

Smith has a future he is just too good so he will come back soon, Bancroft is young so he will be playing again, not sure if he will get in the international side but he will be back. Warner is in his 30s now and did not have a great winter or SA tour I don't think he will play internationally again and will go and do the kp role of touring the t20 leauges and he will be the one to come forth with the truth or at least a larger part of the truth than we know now.

The whole thing of sending handcomb down to tell Bancroft he got busted pretty much confirms it and that handscomb probably knew as well. All of the bowlers must have known or at least suspected as they would have noticed the ball getting roughed up faster than usual, or maybe this was usual and they have done it for several years.

Bancroft was caught so he had to be punished, so did Warner and Smith as they were captain and vice captain and it happened under their watch, the use of 'leadership group' was just a way to not incriminate others. Lehmann resigning I think was cricket Australia's way of telling him 'we are clearing you but you must resign'. It is all a sorry state for the team.

It is all pretty awful for the game when it's most historically successful side is proven to have done this. But more than that, for how long? I don't see it happening under Clarke, but then again I would not of thought that Smith would have done it so who knows.

I avoid soda and alcohol for the most part and I stopped smoking 13 years ago, which is probably why in spite of my weight, my health is excellent. I do really well with low-carb diets but love carbs too much for my own good. I was doing Bulletproof Coffee and no carbs a few months ago and felt great and dropped weight. I should get back on that train.

How did you guys grow up? My family was pretty poor and there were times we lived in seedy motels for weeks at a time because we were displaced. Ive worked since I was 14 years old. My life dramatically changed for the better when I moved away from home at 25. I did have a job in high school that was the envy of everyone though. I worked at Hastings, which was kind of the southern version of Borders, and got huge employee discounts on music, books, and video rentals.
