Using KKB as a temporary obstacle to build Bad News up for Ted is absolute genius.  SBS as a challenger for Crews is a good choice.  Sugar is always a credible in-ring guy.  The Southern Boys continue to impress in MACW.  Is it too much to hope they've found a home for a while?  Good promo by Rich to get the fans wanting more Buzz Sawyer.  Kernodle wouldn't have to be a great promo to make that kind of message work.  It would get heat.  Gama and Rheingans would be a far more interesting feud this way than it has any right to be.  Assassins continue to be really good midcard heels.  That's a pretty big challenge so early in the run of both the Flame and Peterson.  Bad News is saying all the right things so far.  I am soooo looking forward to him and Ted.  Rip Oliver and Blackjack Mulligan in a cage.  I wonder if that's a good match or not. :)  I mean even without the 5 minute stip.  Wonder what that Fuller bit was about.  Riddle really kills it this week in his promo.  I hope I can do him justice. :)  Poor Bull Gantner, things looked like they were going his way.  J.J. and St. Clair is an odd but intriguing pairing.

What a great main event, with a really satisfying finish and a nice win for Cooley. Iron Mike Sharpe going for the TV Title in the semi-main was pretty cool, too.

LOL, I noticed you liked the Sharpe wins in the past, so that TV title match was strictly for you Gordy!

One day Casey is going to get a big win.  The Ramblers needed that one.  Bad News with a well-deserved win after his battles with DiBiase's crew.  Link and Lewin would be a fun brawl.  Greta debut for Link BTW.  Rough night for the Southern Boys.  But the Caspian Empire are the right team to break them in.  Holy huge main events!  Cooley getting a revenge win over Manny without getting the titles back is the right way to go.

Ha! Thanks! I sometimes do a similar thing, booking a match or spot or whatever in hopes that one of you guys in particular ill get a kick out of it.

Speaking of which, JJ wiping the sweat of Tony's face with a towel is a nice specific touch.

Polynesian Power vs. The Assassins is a nice keep-the-feud-going match with a good hot tag. I like how The Assassins can't pull off a win without The Assassin's help, but they manage to keep from losing by taking the fight outside.

In contrast, Crews has Riddle in his corner and as a result he is able to hang on to his strap.

Orndorff loses by DQ but comes out a winner in the fan's eyes.

St. Clair immediately being a heel by association with JJ is about right.  Riddle has been great at not only talking his guys up but also giving them the right openings to win.  Kirchner and Gama really standing tall here, I like to see it.  Man, Peterson had been doing so well.  I suppose that is what happens when heels like the Assassin get desperate.  Good spot for a DCO with PP and the Assassins.  Close win for Crews and he can thank Riddle for that one.  Again.  Wild main with Orndorff making Singh pay for using that sword.  Love it and I'm sure the fans in Norfolk would have too.

Nice loop again for MACW. Paul Orndorff has really come into his own as thee top guy around here even with Dibiase looming.  Going back to the previous show from Greenville, that ten man was a spectacle. Dibiase and the Twosome is definitely something I would like to see as a little more than an allegiance and then the babyface have an uphill battle but the workers to put it together. I will harken back to what we discussed with the Horsemen trade and how it has really shaped MACW in a different, perhaps, better direction given the creativity to move people around and not have them in set places. Here there is a spot on top for anyone to really gravitate towards and that is what makes it that much better to read and follow.

MACW is a great place to be right now. From the show in Greenville, I loved the substitution of Ganter for Link.  Link vs Lewin would be wild fun.  NIce use of Iron Mike Sharpe as he looked like he had a shot againsy WIldfire.  I mostly remember him from Georgia where he had a decent run and then the WWF were he never won.  Nice win for the Snuka group and now we will just have to see if he can get over Dibiase.

While they are currently on opposite cards, somehow we all want to see Dibiase vs Orndorff.  I wonder who is the true king of MACW

MACW @ WTBS Studios TV Aired 8-16-18

Highlights are shown of last week's brutal assault on Bull Gantner by the Caspian Empire.

Schiavone: Hello again everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. With me as always is David Crockett. Well David...

Bull Gantner storms the podium!

Bull: Even though I'm still banged up, it's me and Smirnoff one on one tonight! I know Sheik is out of town, so I want to see how tough Smirnoff is on his own. Tonight, you go down Smirnoff! That's not a threat, that's a promise!

Bull storms out.

Crockett: Wow! That's one pumped up Bull Gantner. Yes, it will be Bull squaring off against Smirnoff in a featured match tonight. In another featured bout, the Renegade Warriors will take on the Fabulous Blondes. It saddens me to say, Rock Riddle will not be here tonight as him and National Champ, Arthur W. Crews are in Puerto Rico.

Schiavone: Also in action will be Jimmy Snuka, Tony St. Clair accompanied by JJ Dillon, Brad Rheingans, Sweet Brown Sugar, former US champs Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley. The Missing Link and Mid Atlantic Champ, Paul Orndorff.

Crockett: We will hear from US champ Ted Dibiase as well as Bad News Brown, Austin Idol, the Southern Boys, Paul Jones and his army. We also have a very disturbing message from The Assassin and The Flame. News on two big cards this weekend in Nashville and Raleigh. Should be an outstanding show. Let's go to the ring for the tag team debut of Ben Bassarab and Spike Huber, known as High Octane.

High Octane (Spike Huber and Ben Bassarab) vs. Brad Kimber and Gary Williams

Huber atomic drops Williams into the turnbuckles. Williams hits and staggers back and Huber hits a back suplex. Huber tags in Bassarab, They swing Williams to the ropes and hit a double hip toss then follow with a double clothesline. Bassarab gets on the top turnbuckle and crashes down with a flying knee. Later, Huber body slams Kimber. Huber picks up Kimber and executes the Airplane Spin then tags in Bassarab. Bassarab jumps off the top rope and crashes down with a flying leg drop to get the pin! The team's fast paced offense seems to have gotten them over with tonight's fans.

Schiavone: Alright, impressive debut. Spike, good to see you back in tag team action.

Huber: Thank you Tony. The last time I was here I was teaming with the great Pedro Morales. Pedro taught me a lot about what a tag team is all about and I knew I wanted to be back here in Mid Atlantic once I found the right partner. Well, I found him and he's Ben Bassarab. We hit it right off because we're both dedicated in the ring, in the gym and as a team.

Ben: Man, it's so great to be here and Spike is exactly right. We're here to wrestle the best and climb that ladder to the US tag titles. As you just saw, High Octane is what we're all about baby!

Huber and Bassarab high five and head back as the fans cheer.

Schiavone: Ok, there you have it, High Octane everybody. We'll be back.

Commercial Break

'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka vs. Tim Straw

The fans cheer as Snuka swings Straw to the ropes and puts him down with a big chop. Snuka swings of the ropes with a jumping headbutt. The fans go wild as Snuka climbs to the top rope, flashes the sign and leaps off and hits the Superfly Splash for the pin!

Snuka cuts a passionate promo on his upcoming US title rematch with Ted Dibiase this weekend in Raleigh. Snuka says Dibiase escaped with the title the last time but this time he wont be so lucky!

'Professor' Brad Rheingans vs. Alex Portman

Brad shows off some solid chain wrestling then slaps Portman across the face. Brad swings Portman to the ropes and hits a quick gut wrench suplex. Brad picks up Portman, spins around him and executes a Bridging Cradle Suplex for the pin! Brad jumps up and down in celebration as the fans boo.

Brad cuts a promo on how Gama constantly breaks the rules in order to win his matches and that's how he backed his way into a National Title match this weekend. He finishes by saying instead of being called the Great Gama, he should be called the Great Cheater!

Commercial Break

Crockett: Ok fans we want to take you to  pre recorded comments by the United States Champion, the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase.

The chauffer opens the limo's door and Dibiase walks out.

Dibiase: (Looks around with total distain) Jeez, I always know when I'm wrestling in Watt's territory. Bad News Brown, I'll start with you. You say you want to get your hands on me? Well, like I said, you're going to have to earn that right. Your fight towards me starts this weekend, when you face an old friend of mine...Stan Hansen! (Laughs) Good luck Brown! (Laughs) Now, Jimmy Snuka has signed to go another round this weekend in Raleigh with the Million Dollar Man. The bottom line is time is money to me Snuka, and I just don't have time for you anymore. Last time, I nearly beat you within an inch of your life, you got out by the skin of your teeth...this time you're going nowhere but down! (Another Laugh)

Back in the Studio

Footage is shown of Link's debut and brawl against Mark Lewin

Link hammers away on Simms, then clamps on a bear hug and rams him into the turnbuckles. Link lifts Simms up and crashes down with a front powerslam. Link goes to the top rope and hits a diving headbutt for the pin! Link storms around the ring, holding the back of his head.

Schiavone: Missing Link looks as dangerous as ever. He'll be teaming with Paul Orndorff this weekend at our big Nashville card and they'll be taking on the wild team of Tiger Jeet Singh and Mark Lewin. Fans in Nashville, please be careful. Speaking of Nashville, another top name appearing will be the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol. Austin, come on over. You heard Rob Fuller last week, what do you make of his comments?

Idol: Rob Fuller should change his name to Rob Full of It because your full of it Jack! He comes out here and sends a cryptic message then walks away smiling. Fuller! I knocked you out cold the last time we met. I was done with you but if you want more of a beating then brother come and get it!

Sugar has the fans cheering as he back drops London. London staggers up and Sugar executes a flying headscissors. Sugar suplexes London then goes to the top rope. London slowly rises and Sugar hits the Missile Dropkick for the pin! The fans are cheering as Sugar waves to them then WHAM! He's nailed from behind!

Schiavone: Brickhouse Brown! What was the meaning of that?

Brickhouse: I want to talk about loyalty and friendship. I'll be real clear for all these idiots out here. (Pause while the fans boo) First off Schiavone, I want you, your idiot peers and all these idiot fans out here to refer to me as The Onyx Brickhouse. You see, me and my good friend Koko Ware teamed as the Onyx Express. I happen to love the Onyx name and also respect Koko. Another man I respect and teamed with is Norvell Austin. Our friendship goes way back. Now Norvell and Koko are teaming up in Portland and I wish them all the best. Let me tell you what kind of friend and person Sweet Brown Sugar Skip Young is. Months back, Skip Young was teaming with Norvell. Well, Norvell was having some personal problems and you know what Skip did? He left him high and dry! He told Norvell he didn't want to deal with him and he should leave Mid Atlantic!

Schiavone: I don't think that's the way it happened at all.

Brickhouse: Open your eyes! What are you Schiavone? A damn fool? That's exactly what happened. I'm here for Norvell because that's what true friends do. They watch out for each other. I'm also here to make sure I run Skip Young out of here. You hear me Young!  Your days as a backstabbing jackass are over!

Schiavone: Oh my, very strong accusations from the Onyx Brickhouse. Fans, I assure you, Sweet Brown Sugar is one of the nicest and loyal friends anybody could have. I'm really not sure where this is coming from. We'll be back.

In the background, several trees have pictures of DJ Peterson on them. The Flame is in the background with a rifle. He aims and shoots at the pictures of DJ Peterson.

Assassin: I wanted the cameras to come out here, at my expense might I add, because I want this message to be heard loud and clear. Last week that punk DJ Peterson went after my mask and tried to rip it off my head. This mask and all it's tradition that it represents was disrespected by that Punk Peterson! Peterson, you lay at home healing but that's nothing compared to what The Flame is going to do to you next time!

Flame walks over and Assassin hands him a pistol. Flame shoots several times at another picture of DJ.

Assassin: Now The Flame can handle you just like that! But that's to easy! You're going to suffer Peterson! You wont know when or where The Flame will show up but when he does, get ready for a beating like you've never had before!

Hansen: I'm the NWA's worst nightmare because nobody can control me! I do whatever I want to do to anybody I want! And that sounds like bad news for you, Brown!

Schiavone: Strong words from Stan Hansen as he meets this man, Bad News Brown this weekend in Raleigh.

Brown: Dibiase! I told you, it don't matter who you put in front of me, cuz no matter what, I'm gonna get my hands on you! As for you Stan Hansen, yea, you're big, tough and bad but I'm from the streets of Harlem and I grew up fighting. Mulligan: If Oliver wins!? Paul, don't you worry about a thing. Oliver doesn't have a chance in Hell of beating me!

I tried giving you a chance Oliver but you couldn't cut it. You've hit, kicked and beat me down! All that ends in Nashville when Blackjack Mulligan puts you down. Crockett being sad about Rock Riddle being gone is sweet.  Bull being fired up is a good start to the show.  High Octane off to a good start.  Snuka and Rheingans both with good promos to keep their feuds going.  Brown vs. Hansen?  Sign me right up!!  Link and Orndorff is quite the team.  Against Lewin and Singh that's a hard-hitting match.  Seems like Idol isn't done yet with Fuller.  Brickhouse vs. SBS should be a great feud.  Good promo too.  Johnson and Cooley valiantly trying to get their titles back continues to keep them over with the fans.  I have seen the Flame promo that inspired that one and love that you re-did it.  I love Rock Riddle sending a postcard. :)  Warriors and Blondes is a good feud for the Warriors to come back with.  Still really looking forward to Brown vs. Hansen.  St. Clair vs. Rich sounds like an interesting feud.  The great part about Sinclair is you have to imagine how he'd gel in the ring with all of these guys.  Jones and Kirchner with good promos.  Even without his title Kernodle is going to be a force in MACW.  Holy crap Gantner really brought his A game tonight.  Great way to end the show, builds a lot of anticipation for Nashville.

Excellent work grasshopper! Enjoy reading the stuff here in Mid-Atlantic.

Hansen, Fernandez and Rude is a scary thing, but I just can't see the original ultimate warrior, Bad News Allen accepting help from an uncle Tom and a beer bellied sharecropper. See what I did there? :D

DiBiase vs. Snuka made a great match. I'm a little bummed to see Ted rocking the Million Dollar Man gimmick earlier in his career, only because I feel he was still on top of his game as a worker in 86 and didn't need the gimmick. It enhances a heel character though so it does work. I just liked the hard working DiBiase from mid-80s All Japan and MId-South/UWF. However, this being 1986, you can do a little more with a character driven wrestler storyline wise.

I enjoyed your amazing creativity in NWAR, your ability to get the most out of even the smallest things. You continue to shine and thrive here. Enjoying the make shift teams, something else you've done a good job in making work well.

I enjoy the team of High Octane already.  Rheingans and Brickhouse getting over as heels in different ways is great.  Ramblers don't get a win without Jones, but they definitely made a statement.  The Professor is up to his old tricks, trying to hurt Gama this time.  Just seems like Gama Singh is less willing to play by the rules in return.  The Twosome retain in good heel fashion, not convincingly.  I'm waiting to see how Bad News reacts to help.  He's not historically a guy who was friendly.  Great brawl between Hansen and Brown BTW.  Snuka got robbed, although I'm sure DiBiase will claim it was all legit.

Sorry for falling a bit behind here.  Enjoying the continued growth of Bull Ganter.  You always come up with new and cool tag teams and High Octane is no different.  The growth of Ted Dibiase is great and I think that is because of all the great talent you have him facing.  Between Bad News and Snuka, this could propel Dibiase to that #1 contenders list.  ALways liked the Missing Link and here is no different.  Brickhouse makes a big splash and just adds to the talent in MACW.

Well finish more later.

Big win for the Warriors.  Nice debut for HTM!  I love how you keep the Tennessee guys feuding with each other. :)  Sheik barely escapes the wrath of Gantner there.  Power may have lost the match but they damn sure didn't waste time proving they could get the best of the Assassins.  I wonder who could have possibly dinged up Tommy Rich's ribs.  Great way for a heel to get a title win if you ask me.  Kernodle gets vicious after that match.  It seems as if this feud is hotter without a belt.  Man, Orndorff losing his head really cost his team.  And himself.  What will Link think about all of this?  DAMN!  Oliver really took it to both Mulligan and Jones.  He is over in a big way as a babyface now.
