AEW All Out

I definitely agree re: Nyla’s work.  That match is going to live or die based on what Riho is able to get out of her.  I haven’t been impressed by their women’s roster at all to this point, except for the Joshi workers.  I think that is one area where they are far behind WWE/NXT talent-wise. That all being said, Nyla and Britt Baker both get really good reactions.

I hope they do something with Mercedes Martinez.  After she was back for the second Mae Young Classic I thought that the WWE would sign her and she would be the female equivalent of Hero in NXT; an unofficial trainer and working the Florida house shows as the vet who the young girls work with every night as a way of getting more experience.  I know Mia got the reaction from the crowd but I would've taken Mercedes over her in a heartbeat.

I must say, about the pre-show, there was some really disgusting transphobia going on on the youtube chat. I know, Youtube is like Twitter, it's the pits of hell, but still, some WWE fanboys comments were repulsive.

Most wrestling fans--and people in general--are awful on every level, regardless of what interests them.

Nyla didn't look that good in the battle royal. She might be really exposed in a single match, depending on Riho's performance. Then again, she might do ok. She clearly has tons of potential.

Nyla looks dangerous to work with to me. The way she was just dropping a girl (forgot how) to the floor when the wrestlers supposed to catch her were not in position, looked beyond Nia Jax-levels of careless.

But the whole Battle Royal was a huge mess anyway, full of badly blown spots and timing issues (the third group of wrestlers should have entered when Nyla was the only girl standing, problem was that they mistimed the segment and the ring was still half-full, so the third group had to heavily stall the entrance). But I suppose that is what you get if you combine a whole lot of inexperienced workers with a time-critical match type. I suppose they under-agented the match, thinking that it did not matter that much for a pre-show match. I don't want to know how match planning and agenting is going into the women's Royal Rumble each year, in comparison, to make it come off fluent (considering that they still are using lots of inexperienced or simply bad workers).

I remember not being that impressed by Mercedes watching the first MYC, but last night I thought she looked like a star.

The thing is, thus far there hasn't been much opportunity for the women to shine in singles matches, so we don't exactly know what they have with Britt and the likes. Penelope Ford can do tons of fun stuff but I have no idea how good she is in a straight match. Allie can be a super cool character, but she's "only"  a solid worker, not a great one. And they definitely don't have anyone with the star aura to her yet.

Hell, IMPACT has a more diverse and really cool female roster with legit star Tessa Blanchard and even Taya Valkyrie (who's really stepped up since her LU days I think, although she was already good there), and now Tenille Dashwood, strong characters like Su Young & Rosemary, Jordynne Grace who's a unique kind of worker, Jessika Havoc who's a really good monster, Madison Rayne who's solid as hell and a really good bitch heel, Kiera Hogan also stepping up since her heel turn...

Not going to repeat too much of what others have said but I dug the show and still love how they cut and present their video angles. For me personally, I’ve been getting diminishing returns as each of these big shows come and go. I’m definitely ready for this roster to move to weekly TV with shorter matches and a more angle-heavy focus.

I just watched the Casino Battle Royale and caught Goldenboy misgendering Nylya so it isn't just in the chatrooms. I don't think it was intentional and it was very quick but still not a good look.

Shawn Spears was certainly no great revelation (safe to say he was utilized at a level commensurate with his talent in WWE) but...  2019 wrestler of the year Cody F. Rhodes made that match compelling, along with Arn and Tully.  Cody is so wildly over that it’s jarring as someone who has never been in the crowd at a major wrestling show when a company is hot.  Two years ago I watched him have a match with Omega in New Orleans that felt like it would never end and I actively hated.  Now, his match is the one I most look forward to on every AEW show.

Agreed 100%. Zero interest in Spears but Cody comes off like the biggest star in everything.

What did Goldenboy say?

Geez, what a stupid name. J.R. must feel like he's in the circus next to clowns named Excalibur (who is very good, but looks goofy and has a goofy name) and now Goldenboy.

After Nyla dodges a move he says something about Nyla "ducking his head." Likely not intentional but probably something that should be addressed and stressed to their announcers.

Imagine, feeling like you're in the circus when you're really part of a carnival wrestling show! :D
