That is a big question I think the comic book industry is facing down to. When people have been broken of the habit and ritual of watching Raw or going to the shop for books how many are going to stop and realize they made better use of the time and money and not come back. I think that's a real risk for WWE and comic books. I could see AEW and to a lesser extent NXT recovering because Wednesday Night seems like only the hardcores tune in for.

Comics can embrace online distribution. It'll kill the comic book shop business worse than the fall of the 90's boom.

edit: But to be honest,  I feel the same way about reading comics on a screen as I do watching wrestling without a crowd.  Even if I hated a crowd's reactions or lack of reactions, or chants that are about getting themselves over... a crowd is essential. The crowd is part of the show, for better or worse.

MJ was clearly a huge bully to Krause and I should feel bad for Krause but then I see that interview where he smugly says again and again that it's the organization that is responsible for the success and not just the team, and I am like, whatever fuck him.

In Krause's defense, which I hate saying out loud for a lot of the same reasons everyone else does, he spent the rest of his life arguing that he was quoted completely out of context.  And knowing Krause, he 100% would own up to the stuff he'd say no matter how controversial it was (he LOVED the negative attention he would get because his massive Vince McMahon-like ego absolutely adored getting any sort of attention), so I'll cut him a little slack there and take his word in that he was quoted out of context.  Also, he was 100% in the right that trading Charles Oakley for Bill Cartwright was what Chicago needed to win their first few rings and it took way, way too long for Michael to admit he had to take an L on that argument.  It took the trade to New York for Oakley to realize he was never going to be the scoring jump shooter he desperately wanted to be in Chicago, and Cartwright gave the Bulls a legit elbow banger in the middle during the playoffs to combat the big stiffs in especially the Eastern Conference.  Cartwright's elbows once knocked out Charles Barkley for pete's sake.  Dude had a rep and owned up to it completely.

I didn't like Jerry Krause as a person because he was just a giant ass, but I can't deny the dude was a genius at finding young talent, even though a lot of them blossomed after they left Chicago in the later years.  And if anything, Michael Jordan for all of the shittalking he directed towards Krause while he was a Bull, proved he knew jack and shit about running or managing a team after he retired, which everyone has always been afraid to tell Michael to his face for decades now.

Yes! That's the one. I can only imagine the fun he had. That whole roster of very peculiar (and sometimes stylish) with a selfless playstyle must've been a joy.

It's insane how they managed to overcome that Lakers big 3.

Dick Barnett's shot was so ugly yet it somehow dropped in every single time!!  Completely absurd.  :D

Yeah, You really do feel for Jerry West especially knowing that his body was breaking down at the end there, as was Elgin Baylor's.  Even in that 69-70 season Wilt missed most all of the entire season.  Both the Knicks and the Lakers were completely banged up that year and because of that it was the only competitive Finals series between the both of them.  The Lakers stomped all over the Knicks in '72 (which the Knicks even GETTING to the Finals that year considering they lost Willis Reed for almost the entire season is wild in itself), and the Knicks did the same to the Lakers in '73!!

I was not talking about his infamous comments during the 1998 season. I am talking about him being interviewed on camera after winning the first (or second?) time. I am not even saying he was wrong, but that is just about the stupidest time to try and publicly take credit even as the team is crying and celebrating in the background.

Speaking of Orlando, it seems Karrion Kross and Scarlett (why remove her last name dammit) won't be lasting long in NXT.

And their you go. Scarlett Bordeaux had a unique flair to it, it was an awesome name (and yes, the fact I basically come from Bordeaux made it even better to me, if only for the way everyone tried to pronounce it). Well at least that way she can use it back when she leaves/gets fired eventually. Stupid people.

Hey, good for them if they get main event money. Then when Vince decide this killer looking guy with odd tatoos can't be with the hot girl, good luck...

The lip-sync might be cringe to some, but the song+entrance itself is money. Makes Black's entrance (who is also really damn good and it's a shame it'll take a while until it reaches a bigger stage) look moderate.

So I watched it on Youtube. Well, I don't like it for the simple reason that it makes sure there will be nothing, ever again, organic about Scarlett's entrance. She has a great personality, it's her strongest point, and now she's already been turned into a complete animatronic entrance. The lip-sync in itself is not the issue, really, Taiichi made an art of trolling out of it, but it's just overproduced. Well, it's WWE. Doesn't give me the itch to follow them in NXT (and they were favourites of mine), really, but then again, I would probably quit after two minutes of Mauro... More power to them if they are successful...

Overproduced is the perfect word for...whatever the hell that was.  That looked like a giant steaming pile of ridiculous shite to me.  Besides, even if that was good...it doesn't matter.  This is WWE.  One minute you're in NXT with a big entrance and starting to build momentum, the next you're on RAW, teaming with Ricochet and losing to The New Day while they dance around as they throw pancakes.  There is zero reason to get excited about anything in WWE, or to get behind any new act.  It's pretty much a given at this point that WWE will screw it up.  Especially if the fans actually get behind it.

I haven't watched NXT in weeks - like everything else in WWE, it is stale, overproduced, inorganic garbage now - but I refuse to believe Mauro isn't carrying the show on his back...

"Scarlett Bordeaux" means brothel basically. It wasn't going to fly in WWE.

Care to elaborate ? Is there something specific about that name that evoques a brothel ? Or is it just like Angelina Love (or Alexa Bliss BTW), which totally sounds like a random pornstar/hooker name ? Because from where I stand, it evoques red wine more than anything else.

A bordello is a whorehouse. Scarlet Chateau would be an obvious whore reference. But not Bordeaux. Now that I check out her gimmick and look, it seems like the name might supposed to be a bit cheeky and slutty (does she do a terrible accent?), but certainly not an explicit whore thing.

I couldn't really establish a shared etymology between bordello and Bordeaux, either. :)

Yeah, sorry but I've seen no trace whatsoever anywhere that could link that name to a brothel. This just seems like usual WWE random fucking with your gimmick. Hey, good for her, when she leaves eventually she'll be able tu use Bordeaux again.

I have every confidence in the world in WWE to NOT understand what her character is. Scarlett can be the slutty bitch heel a-la Beautiful People (way more classy though) but she really shines in the Maryline Monroe-like character, meaning she's actually super good in working comedy while still coming off bad-ass. So yeah, no chance in hell they won't fuck that up.

Well, "bordeaux" and "brothel" do sound similar in Portuguese, but to assume that would be indeed what they were going after is a reach.

It sounds even closer in French (bordel), but there's no link whatsoever and to make any kind of analogy between the two is mind-blowing.  It's like saying you can't call anyone Dick because... you know... dicks. The idea of the name Scarlett Bordeaux evoking anything other that red vine is so stupid. I mean. Scarlet... Bordeaux.... FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Oh anyway.

It's a shame. Scarlett Bordeaux is an amazing ring name. If you ask me, it's a bit classy, even.

Of course it is. It doesn't sound trashy at all, because her character is not trashy unlike the BPs (which is why the BPs did not work very well as babyfaces).

Yeah I would think of (certain aspects of) Marilyn Monroe's persona as cheekily sexy/slutty, "sex kitten" as they said back then, etc.

The Lip syncing was pretty cringe but I liked the entrance. Anything is an improvement over Gargano and Ciampa. I hope Kross beats Cole in like 5 minutes to send him to Smackdown.

Speaking of Smackdown. Mandy/Sonya was good on this week's episode. Love me some trash talking angry Sonya. Her vs Sasha could be good.

I know people were raving about it, but I just didn't get it. There are already too many goth characters in wrestling. What was with the lip synching? Maybe someone can explain to me why it was good.

The song was pretty cool, Kross was bad ass and menacing looking. Scarlett's part was pretty bad/borderline embarrassing and probably only didn't get completely dunked on because she's hot and was dressed like a goth stripper.
