Guest Some Guy
I watched Bret vs. Austin from Survivor Series 96 and Bret/Owen vs. The Steiners from Wrestlefest 94 last night. Both of them are awesome, especially Bret/Austin. The Ausitn match is especially good in context with their next two PPV matches as they build in intensity as the feud goes on and Austin is given more and more offense. The SS match was great and had a clean finish that didn't blow off the feud. Had Austin won clean Bret would have been buried and had Bret made Austin tap to the Sharpshooter it would have hurt Austin. So they went with Bret pinnin Austin because he woudn't let go of the Cobra Clutch. This gave Bret the win he needed and gave Austin believability in the rematch. The Austin series is a prime example of just hopw good Bret was and how he unselfish he was as he truly made a star, which is something HBK has never done. Before the match JR goes on about how he thinks it will come down to submission and Vince says that it would be ironic if Austin were to put Bret in the Sharoshooter. But Bret wasn't put in the Sharpshooter until the next Survivor Series. The tag match was great but the lack of finish hurt. Owen takes a release dragon suplex and the screwdriver, tons of great mat work and selling by Bret.
