The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Recommended Posts

(WARNING: Spoilers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 be here! And probably for every other HP book/film in passing.)

Well, Deathly Hallows Part 2 is in the books, and while the Harry Potter vs Lord Voldemort showdown featured something of a Dusty finish - seriously, has anyone worked out the exact lineage of the Elder Wand title? As best as I can tell, the Snape win over Dumbledore has been ejected from the record books - the big story of this epic PPV was the super-push of perennial lower midcarder Neville Longbottom.

While in prior shows, Big Nev has held something of a lovable loser role, even jobbing to Harry himself in a throwaway bout prior to Harry vs Quirrell in the main event of the first ever HP show, this was the night in which he came into his own. Cementing his place as the leader of the Dumbledore's Army stable, he not only took the Sword of Gryffindor title, he defeated the monster Nagini, and even got the girl as Luna Lovegood was finally won over by his charms - a major career resurgence for him!

Elsewhere on the card, Draco Malfoy appears to have been lost in the shuffle - the formerly hot heel was last seen running away as the forces of the Death Eaters were comprehensively beaten; Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger appear to be lining up for wrestling's latest wedding, and Severus Snape pulled off an absolutely fantastic face turn after losing his retirement match to Voldemort. We also got a heartwarming moment as Molly Weasley jumped to her daughter's defence - who'd ever have thought she could defeat Bellatrix Lestrange, arguably the second biggest heel in the fed? - although the beatdowns suffered by fan favourites Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin, and one of the Weasley twins cast a shadow on the show.

Overall, from the opening handicap match as Harry, Ron and Hermione took on the Goblin Horde, to that finale, this was a pay-per-view well worth catching!
