MVP vs Togi Makabe from NJPW Cup 2011 - Day 4 - 19th March 2011

Hello there everyone and welcome to my match review of MVP vs Togi Makabe from NJPW Cup 2011 - Day 4 held on the 19th March 2011. Obviously the commentary for this match is in Japanese but still that’s just a minor detail. I must point out that I found this match on YouTube.

 

The video begins with both men in the ring facing off. Togi comes off the ropes and chargers towards MVP but is met by a big boot from MVP. Togi comes charging back at MVP again but this time MVP hits him with a belly to belly throw and Togi rolls out of the ring to regroup. MVP plays up to the crowd in true MVP fashion, as Togi is collecting his senses on the floor. MVP goes after Togi on the floor. Hitting him with a hard blow, from the apron to the back of the head. MVP then scoops Togi up and drops him down across the guard rail. MVP does a bit of jaw jacking with a fan at ringside before dropping Togi across the rail 3 more times. He then rolls him back into the ring. MVP covers him for a 2 count. MVP follows up with a front chinlock. Togi fights hi way to his feet before MVP hits several knees to the face followed by a snapmare followed by a hard kick to the spine.

 

MVP springs off the ropes at both side before hitting Togi with a running boot to the face while he’s still sat down. He goes for a cover and gets a 2 count. MVP kicks and slaps Togi in the head but Togi keeps getting to his feet asking MVP to give him more. MVP hits a high knee smash followed by the ball in elbow drop for a 2 count. Togi fights back and both men fight it out before MVP charges at the ropes only to be hit with a belly to belly throw. Togi throws MVP into the corner and hits a running clothesline in the corner before climbing to the middle rope for 10 punches in the corner followed by a northern lights suplex with a bridge for a 2 count. Togi goes for a belly to belly suplex that is blocked by MVP who sends Togi into the corner before hitting a runnig big boot in the corner. MVP hits Togi with a Perfect Plex for a 2 count.

 

MVP hits Togi with hard clubbing blows to the head followed by a hard upper cut, followed by a hard clothesline for another near fall. Both men get to the feet MVP goes for a wild clothesline only for Togi to duck an hit him with a german suplex followed by 2 more. Togi climbs to the top rope but is met by MVP who hits him with a hard right hand straight to the face. Both men battle it out on the top before Togi hits MVP with a head knocking him off the top Togi then climbs down and waits for MVP to get up before hitting him with a hard clothesline knocking down with a hard clothesline. Togi goes to the top rope but MVP comes charging at him and hits him with a top rope belly to belly suplex. MVP crawls over for a 2 count. Both men get to there feet and MVP hits yet another hard boot to the face for another near fall. MVp hits the Play Maker for another 2 count.

 

MVP hooks Togi in a Crossface. Togi struggles to reach the ropes. He reaches the ropes and the referee makes MVP break the hold. MVP takes a wild swing but Togi ducks and rolls MVP for a 2 count. MVP goes for another wild swing but again Togi ducks and hooks him in a roll up for another 2 count before hitting MVP with a hard clothesline. He sends MVP into the corner and follows him into the corner with a clothesline before sitting him on the top rope. Togi climbs the top and hits MVP with a Belly to Back top rope suplex but Togi had hooked his feet under the middle rope to avoid hitting the canvas. Togi stands on the top rope knee drop to the chest and covers him for the 1..2..3. Togi Makabe is your winner at the 10 minute mark.

 

Decent match but a bit on the slow side for me but still entertaining and solid match. Nice to see a MVP match from New Japan Wrestling. Hope you enjoyed this review hope to be back soon with some more hidden gems. From the wonderful world of wrestling.
