sek69
I've been noticing that on newer WWE DVD releases, they're not only blurring the WWF scratch logo (which everyone knows is a no-no now) but in footage of 80s stuff where they identify the champion with "World Wrestling Federation (Whatever) Champion", the World Wrestling Federation part is blurred. They're even blanking out the "F" when someone says "WWF" as well. I thought Vince was allowed to use WWF for all the pre-scratch logo stuff. Did the panda people bust his balls again? Marty
Heh, I take it you bought the 80s DVD and noticed the "WWF" part blurred out during Hulk Hogan's victory interview, no? Anyways, I'm not sure of the exact details, but any verbal or printed mention of "WWF" is a no-no, from what I've seen. Any showing of the block logo is fine, even if they made a modernized WWE block logo recently. Of course, any scratch logo is a no-no. I think that covers everything. sek69
I noticed on the 80s DVD that those old MSG matches would have "World Wrestling Federation" in the chyron for champions and it got blurred out like a logo in a rap video. What confused me is I'm almost 100% sure they've let that go unblurred before since during the block logo era they always had that blue WWF banner with "World Wrestling Federation" hanging from the rafters. Marty
That's really strange, Sek. On my copy of the 80s discs, I get "WWF" blurred out, but not "World Wrestling Federation". Really, really strange.
sek69
I'll have to doublecheck which set it is, but I know it was footage of those MSG matches. I thought it was the 80s set, but I'll make sure if yours isn't blurred.
Guest Some Guy
When they say "WWF" the "F" get blanked out. The scratch logo gets blurred out of everthing (including the referee's, fans', and camera men's shirts and the title belts). They've gotten much better with the blurring over the last few years, using small circular blur things rather than obliterating the entire screen. In some ways it serves Vince right for putting his fucking logo everywhere, and watching the DVDs I;ve noticed blurring in places that I never realized they had the logo. Guest MJHimJfadeaway23
I have WWE DVDs and only the Attitude "WWF" sign gets blurred. The old school symbol always went untouched.

Guest Dazed
WWE seem to be changing the rules with each new release. I have the Hulk Hogan set that was released just after the switch to 'E', and it freely references the "WWF". There's a WWE logo in the corner of the screen and on the DVD case, though. It's a shame they can't come to some sort of arrangement with the other WWF about the rights to distributing the videos. It's asinine that we were so close to the revisionist history stating that in 1984, "Hollywood Hogan won the WWE title". Crazy.

Regarding the Hogan release, that came in the summer of 2002, IIRC, and that was well before they began blurring out every showing of the WWF scratch logo. I also have the Rock release from the same time frame, and the same holds water for that one too. They didn't start blurring the logo out until the fall of that year. After that, that's when questions popped up if certain matches from 1998 to early 2002 would even make it on DVD. Even newer rules popped up, such as use of the phrase "WWF" in a verbal fashion. I often wonder if some sort of time frame is used as far as editing old material to suit the Fund's demands, or something of that nature.
Guest Some Guy
What I don't get is that, no one in their right mind who purchases a WWE DVD would ever get confused and think that a wrestler saying "WWF" would be referring to the Panda Fuckers. And I believe that their argument was that people were confusing Vince's band of freaks to the Panda Fuckers.
