kingliam
On top of my A Wrestling Year project, I currently contribute to Kayfabe Today weekly with a column called Tracking The 'Real' World Champion. It is based on the concept of the Unnoficial Football World Champions, with the idea being who would be the champion if the World Cup was up for grabs in every football match involving the reigning champions? I took this idea, using the starting point of Chris Jericho's mini-tournament win to become the Undisputed Champion, and have been tracking who would technically be the champion if all matches involving the champion were title matches, and titles could change hands on any form of loss (DQ, CO loses the title for the champion, for example). I've done eight columns, and they are linked to below - do check it out. I think it is a fun concept, and there have been some interesting 'champions'. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-one/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/04/tracking-the-real-world-champion/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/11/tracking-thereal-world-champion-part-three/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/18/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-four/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/25/tracking-the-real-world-champion-2/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/01/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-six/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/08/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-seven/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/15/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-eight/ I'll use this topic to update week by week, but check it out and let me know what you guys think. van_Fair
Interesting idea and having the title change hands on DQ and countout adds an interesting wrinkle to it. It would be intersting to compare the results from this to the Linear Championship that the guys over at Voices of Wrestling are keeping track off, as that one only changes hands in 1on1 matches and not via DQ or Countout. http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/wwe-linear-championship/

Makes for pretty cool reading, and like the fact that it could make the argument that the Godfather was champion.
Jingus
if all matches involving the champion were title matches, and titles could change hands on any form of loss (DQ, CO loses the title for the champion, for example). How would you decide who gets the belt in a scenario like, say, a tag match where the champion's team loses by countout and there's no specific individual "winner" on the winning side? Or what if you run into a situation where whoever the current RWC is, happens to retire or die or otherwise never wrestle again? I gotta say, I do love any train of thought which leads to things like Spike Dudley: Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.

Apologies, but I didn't make it clear in my first post - it has to be contested in a match where the champion is wrestling as a singles wrestler. Therefore, it can change hands in multi-man matches, but not tag team matches. As for the situation you mention about deaths or retirements - I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Potentially, stuff like Molly Holly defeating Helms or the debatable concept of having the World title contested under the Hardcore's 24/7 rule does allow me a different timeline if needs be, but I can't see that being an issue for a little while at least - the biggest issues will be wrestlers like Goldberg, Benoit or Brock Lesnar (depending on when he wins it) holding it at a time when they leave/die. kingliam
https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/05/27/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-fifteen/ Brock Lesnar smushes some more people. Standard. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/06/03/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-fifteen-2/ Things take a turn for the odd - I did not see this one coming. kingliam
My laziness is your luck as you get THREE articles for the price of one! Admittedly, they cover the last THREE weeks, but hey ho. http://kayfabetoday.com/index.php/2016/07/09/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-twenty/ Where people get thrown through spotlights. http://kayfabetoday.com/index.php/2016/07/15/traking-the-real-world-champion-part-twenty-one/ Where everyone loses titles all the time. http://kayfabetoday.com/index.php/2016/07/22/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-twenty-one/ Where I take a three week break to head off to CANADIA moose spotting or some such. The last one is mislabelled.
