This promotion apparently doubles as a Rorschach Test for every wrestling fan's feelings about everything wrestling related.
-
I liked this better than the Full Metal Mayhem match - the bumps were cooler and at least it felt like it had some semblance of a structure in the way it built and moved. Wouldn't say it was good, or even an impressive spectacle, but I was at least engaged a bit.
-
This felt like it was built around a dumb bump that wasn't even all that dumb? Don West screams about Hardy jumping from the top of a building, but we've all seen him leap from way higher ladders than that set (credit to them doing a good job of shooting it to emphasize the height as well as possible).
The two envelope gimmick is pretty dumb, too, although I guess it's an easy way to do a false finish.
Oh, I wrote the first bit before I saw the final table bump, which Hardy doesn't even sell? Just so weird.

Info on CIMA and some of the people that will (more than likely) be involved. If anyone has questions on Strong Hearts, please let me know
Even just scanning some GIFs... this feels like a brilliant, low key move by AEW. The athleticism level and creativity is mind blowing.

I really hope Janella is in charge of creative.
There is literally no way he's in charge, but I'd assume he'd be part of the team.

MJF basically disappeared from MLW and the title was vacated because of "injury", but I have no idea if that's a cover up of him leaving or a legit thing. That's what is a bit frustrating with MLW, people seem to come and go and you don't get a sense of a real roster. Strickland, ACH have vanished also (they are NXT bound, aren't they ?).
He had a legit elbow injury, is my understanding, and pulled out of a bunch of dates as a result. I wouldn't put it past him to have worked that once he knew the contract was coming, but those were the reports.

Not a shock, but here's Jericho.

JANELA~!

They've announced a relationship with CIMA's promotion. Also, MJF!

One thing that hasn't been discussed in terms of the TV deal is how they intend to tape the shows. Are they going to go the now standard indy route of taping 3-4 episodes in a night? Or do they try and go live every week? Meltzer keeps talking about how every two bit MMA organization can get a strong TV deal and wrestling (outside WWE) can't, but WWE is also the only promotion right now that can claim to be "live sports" in the American market. That might be where the Khan money becomes very important - funding start up production costs in the hopes of netting a large enough TV deal to create sustainable revenue going forward.
-
The episode above (SPOILER, I guess) does point to Omega going to AEW (the ticking clock on the phone at the end; Kenny saying he'd "lost his phone" earlier in the ep). The alternative would be his friends setting him up to make a big deal of a WWE announcement, which is possible but seems less likely.

Angle looks so small here relative to other points in his career, its legitimately disorienting. Also, Styles' stubble and chest hair (I guess to up the manliness level?) is super noticeable when you flip from Styles a couple of years before this.
It felt like they wanted this to be a big deal, but it ends up being a slightly better paced version of an old X division match. The moves have a little space to breathe, but it's all still very move heavy and lacking in heat. Surprised to find myself kinda bored at points.
The annoying ref bump/ turn finish at least doesn't go too over the top and the Styles Clash gets the pin clean.
Kinda meh on the whole. Not recommended.

Yeah, this was a pretty solid southern tag. AMW strike a nice balance here - they show ass but also maintain enough credibility that you buy it when they go on offense and it feels like Styles and Daniels have a real mountain to climb. Not sure why whoever the neutralizer lady was had to be nameless - wonder if that led anywhere. Liked the finishing stretch the beer bottle and then the tandem flying finishers from Styles and Daniels. Well worth seeing.
-
I thought this was a pretty excellent spot fest, really well paced as mentioned above. I also liked that there was a bit of restraint in hitting the kickoff spots until close to the end, so when they got there the pins seemed plausible. This felt like the absolute best version of a kind of match that really defined the early part of the aughts, and while I'm sort of glad that style is less prominent than it used to be, you have to respect that these guys really crushed at it, in a way that many others didn't.
-
The first section felt way to rushed. It picked up a bit with Ki-Lynn, although there were some rough patches in that. The final stretch with Styles and Lynn was pretty fun, and it felt like they ended it at the right time. Interesting moment historically for Styles, but not a highly recommended match.

Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi SHOCKINGLY rejoining Bullet Club didn't set the world on fire.
-
I didn't think this was as bad as the original poster, but it wasn't great. Why the fork and the other objects were hidden in a presumably no rules cage match was dumb (and then ignored later when the babyface use them). The overall work is reasonably entertaining, but the big spot section at the end felt lacking in creativity. Not terribly painful to watch, but not recommended at all.

I think the best thing at this point is to give some focus to what's really working for you (in the last year for me, mostly New Japan, ROH and MLW) and let that flow out into other things. There's so much intermixing in the wrestling world now that you can get a really good sampling just by checking out other work from the people you enjoy (Penta on MLW led me to see some PCW Ultra, which led me to see some weirdly good late period RVD matches...). And don't let missing some stuff get you down - everyone at this point is bound to have blind spots, and it'll always be easy enough to correct them when the time comes.

I would totally dig a Tessa vs Gail match, if only for Gail to get her due in 2019 (#womenevolution my ass).
Yeah, I was thinking about how the Lucha Bros would probably be a hot item for AEW and WWE (just to fuck with the other companies, since you know they'll have zero notion how to use them) at some point. Well, if iMPACT goes away finally, it will be a bad thing, but at least they'd leave on a high note. What about MLW ? The Lucha Bros arguably are the hottest names they got too. Not to mention the eventual 5th season of LU. I'd hate to see the Dark Fenix saga not get a closure.
This would be something of a blow for MLW, since it seems like the match they want to get to is Low Ki vs. Penta, and presumably they've been saving it for Mania weekend. Hopefully it at least happens, even if it's sooner than anticipated.

As I stated, I have not seen BTE. But as I understand it, there are not actual wrestling matches on the program. So asking casual fans to watch a show on the internet that contains no matches so they can understand why matches on an upcoming show are happening, is very different than watching Raw.
But is it really that different than say, WWF Superstars? It's basically an updated version of any of those shows minus squashes.

Moving on from whatever hellscape this has turned into, I'm real interested in what WWEs "fantastic" offer to Kenny Omega was/is. I assume, a huge wedge of cash but a top merch cut? Mania main event? I assume he'll end up with his buddies in AEW but still, I wonder if he was offered Brock money.
Since we're pretty sure they've negotiated a bit before, you have to think it's a wad of cash plus some promises of the matches he'd want, right? Styles is the one he's called out, but I assume there's a decent number of guys there at this point he'd like to work a big match with.

Very good show. Top two matches and Ibushi-Ospreay got the focus and delivered. White-Okada was very good, although it felt like they kept some stuff in the tank for the rematch (and maybe to give White a cleaner win). The undercard was all brisk but very enjoyable. Five hours (including pre-show) that flew by.

So, I follow PWG, Chikara, and RoH.
I very much enjoyed All In, and I am very interested in seeing what AEW has to offer.
Yet, I have never seen a single episode of Being the Elite, because I don't feel the need to spend several minutes of my week watching a bunch of guys fucking off.
I don't see where this makes anyone less of a fan, where it makes anyone less interested in the product, or where it matters in the least when discussing this company.
The best build to any ROH match this year (Cody-Omega) was almost all done on Being the Elite. You don't have to enjoy the show, but this dismissal of it as "guys fucking off" is absurd. It makes you less interested in the product (which is fine) because it's become a part of the product.

Are there wrestling matches on the Being the Elite series on YouTube? I was under the assumption it was all just talking. If there are some good matches on it I might be interested in checking it out.
It's the build for everything they do, and has been for the last year and a half (really ever since the Scurll turn on Cole). Cody-Omega, Bucks-Lovers, the main matches on All In - the story is all in those episodes. That's why while the above post is a little hyperbolic, I'd agree it's hard to review something like All In without watching the show - you're missing key pieces.
MLW Fusion, anyone watching it?

They are great together, and wildly over. I'm not sure why it works on the level it does, but there it is.
Has there been any reporting on the "third party" that pulled Rush from the April 4 show? ROH?
