  1. Hey guys! To briefly introduce myself, my name is Ryan Carse and I am the editor of quarterly professional wrestling magazine, The Tag Rope. We’re based in London, England and have been running for a little over a year now, currently wrapping up production on Issue #6. For the last few months, we've been working hard to put together a website that retains the aesthetic of the long-form articles, original artwork and captivating photography that readers have come to expect from the magazine. We want to present professional wrestling journalism in a whole new way. No copy and paste plagiarising, no sensationalistic headlines, just real wrestling content with ethics. On the site you may even notice a few familiar faces from the forum, such as Bill Thompson, InYourCase and of course, the illustrious Loss who have all kindly contributed pieces over the last year. The reason I'm posting this topic is to both bring our magazine to your attention, as well as make a formal enquiry for interested contributors moving forward. We fully encourage and welcome contributors to write about subjects that matter to them, whether it be a look at the impact of technology on sports entertainment, from the humble video cassette all the way up to the modern day of immediate streaming or a retrospective piece on a Bunkhouse Buck vs. Dustin Rhodes match from twenty years ago. So, if this is something you'd be interested in, please do just send an email to get in touch with us. In my mind, The Tag Rope is aimed at professional wrestling fans like you, and we really hope you enjoy checking the site out at thetagrope.com. P.S. Issue #6 is out very soon, if you were ever looking at checking out the magazine, this is the issue to hop on board with, trust us.
  2. Hi there. My name is Ryan Carse and I don't post here anywhere near as much as I should considering the knowledge and thought-provoking discussion that's produced on a regular basis. Some of you may know that I'm the editor for a quarterly professional wrestling magazine called The Tag Rope. We've been running for a little over a year now, and I'm incredibly proud of the standard of publication that we've been able to produce on a consistent basis. We believe in presenting a completely different form of wrestling magazine than anything else on the market. Long-form articles, original artwork and captivating photography are the credos which we want to ingrain in The Tag Rope, and thanks to an amazing team of contributors — including Loss, Bill Thompson and InYourCase from this very forum — we've been able to do just that. The reason I'm posting this topic is to both bring our magazine to your attention, as well as make a formal enquiry for interested contributors for Issue #6. We fully encourage contributors to write about subjects that matter to them, whether it be a look at the impact of technology on sports entertainment, from the humble video cassette all the way up to the modern day of immediate streaming or a retrospective piece on a Bunkhouse Buck vs. Dustin Rhodes match from twenty years ago. Our next issue is set for release in September/October, and I've included a few sample images below to show you how our articles are typically presented. We do also have a free ebook available compiling our first four issues, released to commemorate our one-year anniversary earlier this year. If you are interested in contributing to the magazine, please do feel free to either comment below, shoot me a message or email me at thetagrope AT gmail DOT com. And if you would like to check out more about The Tag Rope, you can purchase physical copies from our online store, or alternatively, download our entire back catalogue in seconds by picking up a digital copy. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you do have any further questions, please do fire away!
  3. So it's come to this, the fourth issue. For those who may not have heard of us, my name is Ryan Carse and I'm the editor of The Tag Rope, a quarterly professional wrestling magazine based in the United Kingdom. What started out originally as an assignment for university has now blossomed into a fully-fledged publication, available in both physical and digital formats across the world. Issue #3 was launched in late December to an overwhelmingly positive response, and featured articles such as a preview of New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 9 event, a look at Britain's second-ever no rope barbed-wire deathmatch between Jimmy Havoc and DJ Hyde (featuring interviews with both men before the bout), and an interview with GFW and TNA founder, Jeff Jarrett. You can still purchase Issue #3 either physically for just £3, or digitally from as little as £2. Since the publication of the third issue, we've made it our mission to recruit even better writers, graphic designers and photographers to the team to ensure that we are consistently evolving and improving with each issue. Without question, this is our biggest endeavour yet, and if there was ever a time to check out The Tag Rope, it's now. Inside Issue #4, you'll find: Best of 2014, our look at the year that was 2014, as we award our selections for Wrestler of the Year, Match of the Year, Feud of the Year and tons more. Check them out and tell us we've made the wrong choices, it's what award pieces were made for. In-Fight Storytelling, former WWE.com writer, comics book extraordinaire and current host of The World's Smartest Rasslin' Talk Show™, Straight Shoot, Aubrey Sitterson joins the roster of writers for the fourth issue, as he explores what wrestling truly is, and why it's just what happens between the ropes that matters. Super interesting stuff that's worth checking out. Tommy End: An Audience with The Anti-Hero, we sat down with one half of the Sumerian Death Squad and perennial favourite on European shores, Tommy End, only days after winning the prestigious wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament, and a few short weeks before he makes his debut for Pro Wrestling Guerilla. Tommy has said in the last few days that this was one of his most open and personal interviews to date, and we'd be inclined to agree. A truly compelling conversation with a man who kicked Jesus in the chest last weekend. Worth the price of admission alone. It's Time to Cash In, Arik Wonsover takes a look at the continuing rise of one of WWE's most talented competitors on the current roster, Seth Rollins, by taking a look at his past as he speaks with former tag team partner, Marek Brave. Rollins and Brave currently run a professional wrestling school out of Iowa, and in this article, Arik manages to cover Rollins' entire career, intriguing stuff. There's so much more inside Issue #4, that I don't want to ruin it all by listing it here. At only £3, we truly feel like we are offering something completely different than anything else on the market. Response to Issues #2 & #3 has been incredibly humbling, and has inspired me to move forward with The Tag Rope and provide the best magazine I possibly can. In addition to all of this, the first 50 pre-orders will get an exclusive Minoru Suzuki postcard print courtesy of our resident graphic designers, Rainmaker Inc. These are a limited-time only offer of prints that won't be made available again, and to be honest, we can count on one hand how many we have left, so get yours whilst you can. So, take a punt on the alternative professional wrestling magazine for just £3 over at http://thetagrope.bigcartel.com, and if you're feeling generous, please do give us a like over on http://facebook.com/thetagrope, or follow us at https://twitter.com/tagropemag. Cheers!
  4. Hey all, Some of you may know that for the last three months I've been setting up my own professional wrestling magazine based in the United Kingdom, the Tag Rope. Production has finally come to a close and I'm happy to announce that Issue #2 is now officially ready for pre-order. I've received contributions from the board's own Bill Thompson for this issue, where he talks in depth about the evolution of crowds over the years, as well as managing to secure an interview with "The King of Old School" Steve Corino. In addition, there's also an article celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1994 Super J Cup and the lost art of the wrestling tournament. I recently appeared on Wrestlenomics Radio to discuss the magazine and feel that The Tag Rope stands for intelligent wrestling discussion for the intelligent wrestling fan. At only £3, I've tried to keep the price down as low as I possibly can, but for this price you'll get over 40 pages of wrestling discussion, photos and analysis, lovingly crafted with you in mind. There's all of this and so much more, check out www.facebook.com/TheTagRope for more details and pre-order your copy today at www.thetagrope.bigcartel.com Cheers.
  5. Absolutely man, sounds like an interesting read to me. Drop me a line if there's any details you want to work out.
  6. Seeing Dave Mastiff and Shinsuke Nakamura as holders of the same belt, real or not, has warmed the cockles of my heart. Awesome work, Bill.
  7. I was in attendance at the Spring Slam show at which this was filmed, can confirm that Rikishi moved around more for this backstage skit than the actual event. Also, after the show Rikishi and Vader were seen sharing a box of fried chicken. A great time was had by all.
  8. Have scoured the Internet trying to find an answer for this with no luck, maybe you guys could help me out, it's for an article I'm writing. In the 1994 Super J Cup, was there any particular reason given as to why Wild Pegasus and Great Sasuke received first-round byes?
  9. Hey all, If I'm overstepping boundaries by posting this here, please just give us a shout. But I thought you guys might be interested in checking out the first issue of the Tag Rope, a professional wrestling magazine based in Britain but looks at the sport all across the world. Originally done for a university assignment (which explains the short length), I'm looking at keeping this up as I thoroughly enjoyed producing it. Issue #1 features an interview with current British wrestler (and one of my favourites), Dave Mastiff and in linking with this, a feature article on the Rise, Fall and Rise of British Wrestling. There's also reviews, a look at why I like professional wrestling and tons more. Issue #2 is currently under production and I've managed to grab a great interview with 'The King of Old School' Steve Corino, and I'm still looking for writers and contributors, so if you'd like to get published for writing about wrestling, please just drop us a line. As I mentioned in my first post here, I think there's some great wrestling minds on this forum and I'd be more than happy to get some of you involved. Anyways, check it out and let me know what you think, many thanks! http://tagropeblog.wordpress.com/2014/04/12/the-tag-rope-issue-1/
  10. Hey all, My name's Ryan, I'm 21 years old and I recently stumbled across the board's Twitter account and have been lurking around here for a few days. Some of discussions generated have been incredibly engrossing and interesting to read, I don't think I've seen such a level of 'intelligence' (think that's an accurate way to describe it) in online pro wrestling discussion in sometime, so I just had to sign up. In terms of my own wrestling fandom, I've been a fan for around fourteen years now ever since the advent of WWF replays on terrestrial television in the UK. Would say I'm very much a child of the Federation, only really dipping into WCW in the last few years and especially recently with the launch of the Network. But hey, back in 2000 there wasn't really a whole lot of WCW to enjoy. Outside of that I enjoy a spot of PWG and revisiting the golden age of AJPW, you can also find me in attendance at most PCW shows up in Preston. I'm currently in the process of producing the second issue of my very own professional wrestling magazine, The Tag Rope. You can check out the first issue over at http://tagropeblog.wordpress.com/2014/04/12/the-tag-rope-issue-1/, and look out for the second issue which features an interview with 'The King of Old School' Steve Corino. Right now I'm looking for contributors and writers for the second issue, if this is something you'd be interested in, please don't hesitate to drop me a message. Outside of that, I'm looking forward to joining the community, so happy grappling all!
