I had exactly that same thought the first time I saw it.
Overall, I thought the show was decent and fun but I understand those saying that some matches were underwhelming or had the wrong result. But nothing too egregious for me to be angry about.

I'm really curious how you gonna pull off Battlebowl, compared to IRL. The one thing that bothered me about the concept is that ultimately, it ended up being "semi-random" most of the time (at least, it looked better than any WWF/E attempt at letting the control out of the booker's hands to an extent) and it could've ended up creating potential new stars for WCW, taking advantage of the Battlebowl concept to get over. But I'm not worried about you doing it justice because you've been crushing it so far with a lot of action everywhere in the card.

Tony Khan is going for a 1996 Nitro vibe with his booking but it ends up being WCW 2000 instead. My God, the fall from grace of the AEW product needs to be studied. I also felt like watching 2019 WWE at times tonight.

Rampage is likely gonna get cancelled, especially if the rumors are true they're shopping another show to a different network. As for BOTB, it's a special happening a handful of times every year so don't think it really matters, at the end of the day.

With WWE filing the trademark for "YES YES YES", gonna be funny as fuck if TK has to censor YES chants every week just because WWE showed him they can be as petty as he is. Nobody plays the petty game better than WWE and Tony Khan is about to find out.

It doesn't help that Mercedes Moné has showed that she has absolutely regressed as a character. Her promos are dreadful; she has no aura whatsoever. Mercedes Moné is pretty much Temu Sasha Banks.

To be noted: both Alexa Bliss and Nikki (Bella) Garcia have done voiceover work for the series. Alexa does the voiceover for Maki Ueda.

I could see a situation where they planted the seeds last night for Darby becoming AEW World Champion in 2025. If you consistently remind fans what Mox said and ultimately, Darby is the one to dethrone Mox, you get the story to go full circle. Gonna be interesting to see which way they go for that.
