While I only included the final fall results, in my imagination I like to think that the final fall involved a groggy Pat Tanaka, having been knocked out by the Iron Fist Punch in the previous fall, struggling to tag out , while Diamond had to keep diving in to breakup pinfall attempts.
-
In my own timeline, Hennig is just in the process of catching fire, but he has been more the right hand to Bockwinkel lately. I said it was shocking because Muraco had just recently been challenging for the World Title, and this was pretty much the biggest win that Hennig has scored in his current run.

Mick Foley vs. Kevin Sullivan Sullivan hit a double footstomp in the corner to get the victory Don Muraco vs. Curt Hennig In a shocking result, Hennig caught Muraco in a cradle suplex for the win Nick Bockwinkel vs. The Great Kabuki Kabuki was going for the Thrust Kick, but Bockwinkel dodged it and hit a single leg roll up to wrap Kabuki up for the pinfall AWA Southern Tag Title 2/3 falls match : Badd Company © vs. British Steel 1st fall - Tanaka small packaged Smiley for the pinfall 2nd fall – Regal hit the Iron Fist punch on Tanaka for the pin 3rd fall – Both teams went to a 45 minute time limit draw in the final fall. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN / TSN for September 13th The Moondogs vs. British Steel The wild and crazy Moondogs have charged through a lot of their opposition like a house afire, and at first it looked like they would be too much for British Steel to handle. But the two young wrestlers showed a lot of maturity as they weathered out the storm and let Rex and Spot burn out quickly, ducking and dodging and tagging in and out to minimize the damage. When the Moondogs started to run out of steam, that is when they sprang their trap, breaking them down with limbwork and submission holds before Smiley was able to wrap Spot up in the Norman Conquest , forcing him to give up the match. A very impressive win for the two British rookies. The Great Kabuki vs. Paul Diamond With one half of the Southern Tag champs facing off against one of the most deadly members of the Sinister Syndicate, the was shaping up to be a battle of the Superkick vs. the Thrust Kick, with each man working the other over to set up their signature move. The battle raged back and forth and it looked like Diamond had Kabuki staggered enough to hit the Superkick. But as he was coming off the ropes, Tojo Yamamoto cracked him across the back with the kendo stick. Kabuki then struck with the Thrust Kick, but the ref had seen what Yamamoto did and called for the DQ. Yamamoto tried to throw the kendo stick in to Kabuki, but Sunshine grabbed it from him, leading to Tojo to go after Sunshine. This prompted Pat Tanaka to come out to her rescue, leading to Kendo Nagasaki to get involved, and the whole situation dissolved into chaos. Sgt. Slaughter , King Kong Bundy & Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Killer Khan, Jerry Blackwell & Bob Roop In this latest battle in the war between the Sinister Syndicate and the Cobra Corps, Sheikh Kaissie’s men focused their attacks on young Cpl. Scott Hall, keeping Sarge and “Special Forces” Bundy out of the ring for all but brief instances. They seemed to do a lot of damage to the young Corporal, but at some point it looked like the light just went on for Hall, who exploded on the Syndicate and started making them pay some dues. He hit a devastating series of power moves, even shocking the crowd with a bodyslam on Blackwell, before executing the Corporal Punishment on Roop to get the win. Sarge and Bundy looked like they were somewhat shocked and in awe of Hall, who finally seems to have truly arrived on the big stage. AWA Southern Title match : Al Perez © vs. Buzz Sawyer Al Perez has been dominant in his defenses against the members of Col. Robley’s Army, but Buzz Sawyer looked to give him more than he could handle. The crazed Mad Dog came at him fist and fire, slugging his way out of Perez’s attempts to get him in submission holds and coming after him with clubbing blows and clotheslines. Perez was game and started matching him shot for shot, but it seemed like Sawyer would get the better of him when he set the champ up for a Bulldog. However it turned out that Perez was just playing possum, as he reversed it into a massive belly to back suplex that took the wind out of Sawyer and got the one two three. At this point, Perez is looking lke he is an unstoppable champ. AWA World Title match : Paul Orndorff © vs. Dan Spivey Paul Orndorff has been fighting a war on two fronts of late, not only siding with is good friend Ricky Steamboat against Tony Atlas and the Onyx Express, but now having drawn the attention of Kevin Sullivan’s Varsity Club. This time out, the champ would be facing the Georgia Bulldog himself, Dan Spivey. Spivey has largely kept to the background since his arrival in the AWA, but this was truly the coming out party for Spivey. Orndorff found himself on the defensive against the blonde powerhouse, who knocked him down several times with big boots and mocked him by cupping his hand to his ear at the audience, soaking up their boos. For a moment, it seemed like Spivey might pull off an incredible upset when he bodyslammed Orndorff and went for a Big Leg Drop, but the champ rolled out of the way at the last second and Spivey crashed hard to the mat. Orndorff then set up Spivey for the Piledriver, which of course was the cue for the Onyx Express to charge out and attack him, leading to the DQ. Spivey wanted to join in the attack, but Sullivan ordered him back to the locker room while he and Fallen Angel watched the attack. Orndorff was finally able to scramble to the outside and grab a chair to drive off Atlas and his men. Sullivan was seen whispering something in Fallen Angel’s ear as they finally left the ringside area.

Thanks so much for your contributions to the project, gordi. I understand how other things must take priority. Hope to still see you around.

AWA show from Cobo Hall, Detroit, September 7th Jerry Blackwell vs. Lou Winston Blackwell got the win with a running splash The Onyx Express vs. The Moondogs Brickhouse pinned Spot after a missile dropkick Curt Hennig vs. Don Muraco Both men went to a 20 minute time limit draw Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Bob Roop Hall won with the Corporal Punishment Ed Wiskowski vs. Steven Regal Regal made Wiskowski give up to the Regal Stretch AWA Southern Title match : Al Perez © vs. Rick Steiner In an epic battle of power moves and suplex, Perez was finally able hit the German Suplex to defend his belt AWA American Title match : Lex Luger © vs. Nick Bockwinkel Bockwinkel won by DQ after Sheikh Adnan Al-Kaissie interefered in the match. Luger retained the title. AWA Southern Tag Title match : Badd Company © vs. Buzz Sawyer & Dave Schultz In a lengthy match, Sawyer was trying to hit a German Suplex on Tanaka, who blocked it was a backwards low kick. This set Sawyer up for a superkick from Diamon that got the victory for Badd Company.

AWA Show from The Met Center, Bloomington, September 6th (as shown on ESPN / TSN Super Cards ) Jesse Barr vs. Jerry Bryant Barr pinned Bryant after the Bulldog Headlock Leo Burke vs. Brad Armstrong Armstrong got the win with the Russian Legsweep Buddy Rose & Doug Somers vs. British Steel Rose got the pinfall on Smiley after hitting the Inside Out Backbreaker Greg Gagne vs. Dan Spivey Spivey hit a Big Leg Drop on Gagne to get the victory Sgt. Rotundo and the other members of the Varsity Club wanted to join in on the beatdown, but Kevin Sullivan ordered them to stand down and head back to the locker room. The Onyx Express kept up their attack on Orndorff until finally being cleared from the ring by AWA officials

AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN / TSN for September 6th Brad Armstrong vs. Robb Zbacnic While she had initially kept to the background, Sunshine has quietly assembled quite the army of late. Not only does she have the Southern Tag champions Badd Company under her wing, but has lately allied herself with Al Perez, bringing her both the Southern Title and the Six Man Tag Titles to her stable. And now she has another impressive new charge to her roster, the talented and popular Brad Armstrong of the legendary Armstrong family. Brad got the crowd going as he easily dominated the up and coming Zbacnic with dropkicks and armdrags before ultimately hitting the Russian Legsweep to put him away. Looks like the Sunshine Boys have truly become a force to be reckoned with. Doug Somers vs. Steven Regal Last week, Buddy Rose scratched out a victory against Norman Smiley. This time out , Rose’s Playboy After Dark partner Somers would face the other half of British Steel, young Steven Regal. The veteran Somers tried to pull the same dirty tactics against Regal, but the “Young Gentleman” was having none of it, firing back with a barrage of punches before hitting him with the Iron Fist Punch. Even though Somers was seemingly knocked out, Regal locked him in the Regal Stretch until the ref called the match. Clearly Regal has had enough of Playboy After Dark and their nonsense, and they had best watch their step with him. “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell vs. Da Crusher The two Crushers had faced off many times before, but rarely had the battle been so one one sided. “The Man Who Made Milwaukee Famous” certainly put up a fight, but the giant Blackwell overwhelmed him with is size and power, maintaining an all out assault until finally putting him away with a power slam and a running splash. Blackwell has been taking no prisoners since his return to the AWA, and the Cobra Corps are certainly in for a fight when he ultimately sets his sights on them. AWA Southern Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Mike Shaw Even Perez’s biggest fans have been a bit surprised at his more aggressive tack with Col. Buck Robley’s Army, but one can hardly blame him , given their relentless attacks on him. Last week, he went after the big Tank’s arm in his victory in the Six Man Tag title match, and he kept up that assault in this Southern Title defense. Shaw tried to bowl over Perez, making the most of his size advantage, but Perez kept going after that arm, with Shaw only just barely making it to the ropes to break up the Japanese Armlock. He finally attempted to crush Perez once and for all with a scoop power slam, but Perez countered with a single arm takedown and finally trapped him in a cross arm breaker in the middle of the ring. Shaw had no choice but to give up the match, and Perez had earned perhaps his most impressive win yet. Tony Atlas vs. Ricky Steamboat Steamboat has had his struggles of late with the members of the Onyx Express, but now he would have to square off against their powerful leader, “Mr. Olympia” Tony Atlas. Atlas had been dominating his opposition in most of his recent matches, but Steamboat was clearly not about to be intimidated by him. The match swung back and forth, with neither man maintaining the advantage for long, but it looked like Steamboat would finally be able to get the victory when he went up top for the flying cross body press. As if on cue, Koko Ware and Brickhouse Brown charged out and knocked him off the top turnbuckle, leading to the DQ decision. Under orders from Atlas, they hit Steamboat with the Spike Brainbuster before Atlas put him in the Full Nelson. Atlas kept him in the hold for an agonizingly long time , in spite of the imprecations of the AWA officials, before finally dropping him to the mat and stalking from the ring with his men. Steamboat had to be taken from the ring in a stretcher.

AWA show from the Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg, August 30th (as shown on ESPN / TSN Super Cards ) British Steel vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers Regal knocked out Somers with the Iron Fist Punch The Great Kabuki vs. Cpl. Scott Hall Kabuki got the win with the Thrust Kick to the jaw of Hall Tony Atlas vs. Wahoo McDaniel In an epic battle, Atlas was finally able to get the win over Wahoo after a lariat AWA American Title Match : Lex Luger © vs. Nick Bockwinkel Both men went to a 30 minute time limit draw AWA Southern Tag Team Title match : Badd Company © vs. The Onyx Express In an incredibly close match, Koko was setting up Tanaka for a Brainbuster when Diamond Superkicked him from behind, leading to Tanaka getting the pinfall for the win AWA Canadian Title match : Rick Martel © vs. Kendo Nagasaki Kendo tried to hit the Thrust Kick on Martel, but Martel dodged it and rolled up Kendo for the victory AWA World Title No DQ Cage match : Paul Orndorff © vs. Don Muraco Deep in the match, Sheikh Adnan Al-Kaissie threw a chair over the top into the cage for Muraco to use, but Orndorff grabbed it out of Muraco’s hands and hit him in the head with it. He then gave the piledriver to Muraco on the chair and looked like he was going to do a second one on the chair but instead went for the cover and pinned Muraco, putting an end to his title challenge once and for all.

AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN / TSN for August 30th Jesse Barr vs. Jerry Bryant Jesse Barr has made his intentions clear since arriving in the AWA that he is gunning for the Southern Title, currently held by Al Perez, and doesn’t seem to care who he has to go through to get at it. Facing off against one half of Memphis Vice, Barr proceeded to batter Bryant from pillar to post, not letting the popular tag wrestler get more than the odd move in before power slamming him for a decisive pin. Clearly the Colonel’s latest recruit is not letting anyone stand in his way in his quest for the belt. Buddy Rose vs. Norman Smiley Buddy Rose has been on the comeback trail since his feud with Nick Bockwinkel, but Smiley would surprisingly turn out to be his stiffest challenge yet. The technically gifted rookie had the Playboy stymied at every turn, even coming close to cinching in the Norman Conquest before Rose got to the ropes and broke up the attempt. It took a particularly nasty cheap shot by Rose to set up the Inside Out Backbreaker to get the win. Rose was sufficiently incensed by the young upstart that he was about to give him another backbreaker after the bell until the ref intervened. AWA Six-Man Title Match : Mike Shaw, Dave Schultz & Buzz Sawyer © vs. Al Perez & Badd Company (with Sunshine) In several past matches between these two factions, the pattern has been that of Col. Robley’s men targeting Perez to try to soften him up for a challenger for his Southern Title. With this match, though, it seems like Perez has had enough of their crap and is fighting fire with fire. He kept his focus on, of all people, “The Tank” Mike Shaw, relentlessly battering his arm with big blows and scissor holds while Badd Company kept Shaw’s partners out of the ring. He kept up this assault until he got Shaw down in his own corner and trapped him with the Japanese Armlock (wakigatame), intensely grinding the hold in while Badd Company held off Sawyer and Schultz until Shaw was forced to give up. The crowd was stunned but soon exploded in cheers as Sunshine’s men each held up two belts in what was a truly shocking result. Sgt. Slaughter vs. Killer Khan Chaos. This match was pure chaos, with the huge new arrival for the Sinister Syndicate furiously brawling with the leader of the Cobra Corps. The ref pretty much gave up on maintaining any sort of control over the match, just letting them slug it out until they ended up outside the ring and kept at it until they were both counted out. Things got worse after the match with King Kong Bundy and “Crusher” Blackwell got involved, and it took a long time for the AWA officials to get the situation untangled. The Onyx Express vs. Ricky Steamboat & Paul Orndorff Steamboat has had his problems with the members of the Onyx Express in recent house show matches, so he brought in some impressive backup in the form of his good friend, the World Champion Paul Orndorff. Brickhouse and Koko spent much of their time attacking the neck of Orndorff, wanting to set him up for the Spike Brainbuster. They showed how well they had mastered their tag team skills by frequently drawing Steamboat into the match, then relentlessly double teamed Orndorff as the referee shooed Steamboat out of the ring. Orndorff finally was able to manage a comeback when he dodged a double clothesline attempt by the Express and then fired back with his own double clothesline that flattened both members of the Express. Rather than tag in Steamboat, Orndorff hit Brickhouse with two crushing powerslams before setting him up for the Piledriver. This was the cue for Tony Atlas to charge into the ring and attack Orndorff. While the Onyx Express held off Steamboat, Atlas hit his own powerslam on Orndorff before locking the champ in the Full Nelson for an excruciatingly long time, finally being forced to release it and head back to the locker room by a threat of suspension from the AWA officials. Orndorff now has a deadly new challenger for his belt, who has made his claim in devastating fashion.

Cromulent A word meaning valid or acceptable, coined by David X. Cohen for theSimpsons episode "Lisa the Iconoclast".

AWA show from the Mecca, Milwaukee, August 23rd (as shown on ESPN / TSN Super Cards ) Buddy Rose & Doug Somers vs. Memphis Vice Rose pinned Winston after the Inside Out Backbreaker Ricky Steamboat vs. Brickhouse Brown Steamboat won by DQ after he was attacked by Koko Ware. After the decision, both members of Onyx Express beat down Steamboat until Paul Orndorff rushed to the ring to run them off Da Crusher vs. Bob Roop Crusher got the win after hitting a running Bolo Punch Sgt. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN / TSN for August 13th Cpl. Scott Hall vs. Jerry Blackwell Before he left the AWA, “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell had the fans solidly in his corner, but since his return he has cared about the opinon of nobody except Sheikh Adnan Al-Kaissie . “Crusher” ruthlessly went after the knee of the powerful young recruit of the Cobra Corps, bowling over Hall and getting him in several painful leglocks. Hall tried to fight back, but the damage done to his knee undercut his attempts at power moves, ultimately collapsing then trying to power slam the huge Blackwell. Blackwell followed up with a running splash to get a victory for the Sinister Syndicate. Buddy Rose vs. Wahoo McDaniel “Playboy” Buddy Rose has had some difficulty gaining momentum since losing the Southern title to Al Perez, and certainly was facing stiff competition tonight in the person of Wahoo McDaniel. The double tough veteran really took it to Rose, blasting him with brutal chops and kicks as well as twisting his limbs every which way. Rose tried to rally against this withering offense, but his efforts were swiftly shut down by Wahoo. Wahoo had him trapped in the corner and was blistering him with chops, but when the ref tried to separate the two, Rose took advantage by taking the padding off the turnbuckle. When Wahoo came back with an overhand chop, Rose dodged out of the way and Wahoo brought his hand down hard on the exposed turnbuckle bolt. While Wahoo winced in pain, Rose swept him off his feet and put his own feet on the ropes to get the leveraged pin. Da Crusher vs. Dan Spivey This was a show down of the unconventional brawling of Da Crusher and the impressive power offense of Spivey. The battle waged back and forth, with first one man gaining the advantage then the other one fighting back to have the upper hand. It looked like Crusher was starting to pull ahead with a series of clubbing punches, but when he came rushing in for the Bolo Punch, Spivey got his boot up just in time. Crusher was staggerd, and Spivey took him down with a lariat, following up with a big running leg drop to get the win. Nick Bockwinkel vs. Bob Roop After a lengthy way with Playboy After Dark, Bockwinkel seems to have set his sights on challenging the Sinister Syndicate. Facing off against the enforcer of the Syndicate, Nick and Roop has a breathtaking technical showdown that really got the fans attention. In a match that mostly took place with both men working the mat in the proverbial case of Human Chess, they exchanged leglocks and limb work to try to soften each other up to try and move in for kill. Ultimately , it was Bockwinkel who was able to finally trap Roop in the Figure Four and force him to submit. An impressive victory for Bockwinkel, who looks like he is intending to work his way up the Syndicates chain to challenge for Lex Luger’s American title. AWA Southern Tag Team Title match : Badd Company © vs. Buzz Sawyer & Dave Schultz Another exciting match that pitted the high speed, high flying offense of the champions against the rough and tumble style of Col. Robley’s Army. Sawyer and Schultz were clearly out to inflict some punishment on Sunshine’s men, but Tanaka and Diamond gave as good as they got, showing why they are the champs. Badd Company had Sawyer set up for Tanaka to thrust kick him into a Diamond suplex, but Jesse Barr had rushed out to the ring by this point and yanked down the top rope, causing Tanaka to plummet to the outside. The Army proceeded to beat down the champs until Al Perez charged out to even the sides, forcing a retreat on the part of the Colonel’s soldiers. AWA World Title match : Paul Orndorff © vs. Rick Steiner Orndorff has ducked no challengers in defense of the AWA World Title, and he certainly had his hands full with the powerful rookie Steiner. The University of Michigan letterman brought a wealth of amateur skill to the battle and matched Orndorff suplex for suplex and power move for power move. On a couple of occasions, it looked like Fallen Angel was going to interfere in the match, but then Kevin Sullivan would say something in her ear and she would hold back, as though he had given her the order to stand down while he observed the match. Steiner was trying to get Orndorff in a belly to back suplex, but Orndorff reversed the waistlock and whipped him into the ropes to catch him in a mighty power slam. One piledriver later and Orndorff had successfully defended his title. Steiner had lost but Sullivan escorted him from the ring with an oddly thoughtful look on his face.

Orndorff retained the World Title.

Latest news out of the AWA locker room : It didn't take long for Tojo Yamamoto's arrival in the AWA to stir up drama. Tojo had been specifically brought in to help with the training of the AWA's considerable stable of rookies, joining a training team that now consisted of himself , Kendo Nagasaki, Leo Burke and Bob Roop. Up until this point, a considerable push had been given to Rick Steiner, the favorite of Burke and Roop, but Tojo, with the support of Kendo, has argued in favor of British Steel and Badd Company, and the company has gotten behind them. Al Perez, perhaps sensing a change in the weather, has asked to have matches allying himself with Badd Company, which has angered Burke, who had previously been in his corner. Perez has really gotten the fans behind him in a big way, which gives him some protection from the ire of Burke. Steiner has recently been overheard grumbling about his loss of status, which may mean he is not long for the AWA.

AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN / TSN for August 16th The Great Kabuki, Kendo Nagasaki & Killer Khan vs. Ryan Opray, Ryan Shoulders & Osten Taylor After his shocking return to the AWA at the Bloomington show, Killer Khan (along with his Sinister Syndicate cohorts and joined by Sheikh Adnan Al-Kaissie and Tojo Yamamoto) showed his dominance as his team tore through the trio of young rookies. Opray, Shoulders and Taylor never stood a chance as the Syndicate dissected them until Kabuki and Kendo hit a double thrust kick on Shoulders to put them out of their misery. This, however, was not enough for Kaissie, who had Khan put Taylor in the Oriental Chokehold until the ref ordered him to let it go with a threat of suspension. The arms race between the Syndicate and the Cobra Corps has clearly reached terrifying new heights. Memphis Vice vs. The Onyx Express It seems like only yesterday that Memphis Vice put on an impressive winning streak against the team now known as the Onyx Express, but Brickhouse and Koko are clearly determined to turn that into a distant memory. Now that they are under the tutelage of Tony Atlas, the Onyx Express have taken no prisoners in their matches and Bryant and Winston were now paying the price for that change of attitude. Every time Memphis Vice tried to rally, the Express shut it down brutally with a cheap shot or a nasty double team before finally putting the match to an end by hitting the Spike Brainbuster on both men in quick succession. There was a time when it seemed like Koko and Brickhouse were becoming something of a joke, but who is laughing now? Leo Burke vs. Curt Hennig Hennig had come to the attention of Playboy After Dark during their feud with Nick Bockwinkel, and they clearly still bear a grudge, as they have send Canada’s Toughest Man against him. Burke really made Hennig pay some dues, pounding him with heavy punches and stretching him with painful wear down holds, but the second generation favorite just kept coming back. Little by little , Hennig took control of the match, and when Burke desperately tried to shut it down by trapping him in the Sleeper, Hennig broke out of it with some powerful elbows to the midsection. Hennig then followed it up with the Cradle Suplex to get the pin. AWA Southern Title match : Al Perez © vs. Mike Shaw Col. Buck Robley’s Army has been gunning for Perez’s Southern Title lately, and now they have brought in their biggest gun, “The Tank” Mike Shaw. Shaw looked to use his incredible size and power to overwhelm Perez, but the canny “Latin Heartthrob” used his speed and technical knowhow to work his way out of a lot of tight spots. He used several armlocks to try to take the power slam out of the occasion, and kept sticking and moving to keep himself out of danger. Shaw eventually took the action to the outside and tried to hit a running splash, but Perez rolled out of the way just in time and was able to make it back into the ring while Shaw was staggered. Perez got the victory by count out , but the Army wasn’t done coming after him by a long shot. AWA World Tag Title match : The British Bulldogs © vs. The Moondogs It was a real dogfight (tee hee) as the champs pitted their high impact, high speed offense against the crazy brawling of the Moondogs. Although the Bulldogs impressed the fans with their spectacular moves, the Moondogs just kept coming at them like something out of a horror movie. Eventually, Rex brought the ring bell into the ring and hit Davey Boy with it, leading to the ref to declare the match a DQ win for the champions. All four men kept slugging it out long after the ref called the match.

Oh, no worries, was not taking offense. Just mentioning I am a bit ahead of real life in my booking
