I feel TK learned the wrong lesson from Revolution. A show that did well enough and surpassed very low expectations after a really shitty build and almost zero promotion.

DoN has had a more focused build up but as of right now we only have 2 matches that can be promoted  -and both of them are below the Iron Man match for Revolution, which was already a weak (ish) selling point- and the feud that has the most stars (Elite vs BCC) still doesn't have a match that can be hyped up to boost ticket sales.

Forbidden Door and All In can sell based on the "AEW brand" and the special feel of a PPV/big show taking place in a new market. Double of Nothing is going back to Vegas with little to nothing to garner attention with 2 weeks left.

We'll see if this Wednesday we get all the main matches booked and if they make any difference in the 10 days before the show. IIRC, Revolution was able to sell enough tickets in the last week to save itself from being a failure.

I don't disagree with anything you are saying but Vegas's economy is a genuine issue. Inflation and a lot of price gouging. I know someone that's travelling over this year and it is triple the price of last year flight and hotel wise. Not really a Wrestling town anymore.

If you live in Canada you are going to Forbidden Door. European then Wembley.

In general, the show has nothing going for it so far.

  2. It is more than likely he has done some kind of work on himself. Either via his wife's need and interest in therapy and/or AEW HR mandating some kind of anger management type training.

Obviously there's Wrestling politics motivations PR wise and selling yourself to AEW management, the locker room and the fans you are the reasonable one and capable of self reflection.

They can only add so many undercard guys to Bullet Club Gold, but if they can put just one guy in there, I want it to be Lee Johnson. I think he's ready and he got the unfortunate side of the Factory to QTV transformation, but he wasn't there long post-turn to get tarnished either.

Been the biggest Lee fan since the Daily's Place/Pandemic era. He's so much early WCW Sting quality the upper body and the spring in his legs.

But promos, charisma/crowd appeals lack so much. Shyness based. But he has astonishing potential.

Man, MJF really stands out when compared to fucking Jack Perry, doesn't he? In fact, him being in the same category as the other three guys is unfair to him, and I'm not even a fan of his.

Bron, Melo, Waller and Theory too.

Business usually takes months to get affected by booking debacles (or reflect excellent booking too for that matter, like with the nWo and Austin's rise). WCW was never hotter than it was in 1998, despite the ending of Starrcade 1997 and how they later botched Goldberg's title run. in 1998 itself. The only exception I can think of in modern wrestling is Austin's heel turn, but Cody losing isn't anywhere close to it - as Meltz put it in a rather mean way, none of these guys are Austin.

WWE has been on an extremely hot run the last year or so, that's not going to change anytime soon.

Yep and there's market specific pent up demand things like not running Belfast in 4 years and San Juan in 2 years.

  6. There's a lot of noise and who to believe currently. Headspinning.

But the work a day roster and maybe more importantly the production, office, logistics (ring trucks) who have families and obligations are incredibly loyal to the Bucks as they started it all.

Nigel is never wrestling in a million years lol. Love the guy but he made his peace with wrestling more than a decade ago, not to mention I wouldn't be comfortable seeing it in the first place

Nigel in a media interview 3 weeks ago said he would be open to one more match. His stance has softened.

I don't think there was much risk in belting up Mox without a contract. He's made it clear he never wants to go back to WWE so the worst that could happen is he shows up on some indy shows or a New Japan show, which wouldn't be the worst thing.

    THANK YOU.

I didn't what I was reading the last few posts. Everything said and done completely forgotten. Including his excellent book and even better audiobook.

It has been REALLY clear who has and hasn't listened to full podcast based by the reactions.

    Vikingo for world champ

    Screenshot_20230328-163857_Chrome.jpg

Wade Keller got the minute by minutes. The last three minutes of the Omega/Vikingo match was the best rated thing on the show.

FTR's entrance and Adam Cole's interview where among the best rated things on the show. Althought Cole's interview tapered off (blame Garcia ha!).

The Four Pillars video package was the worst performing thing. Why AEW don't do video packages.

  10. I always liked L.A. Knight. Every criticism comes down to he is does things that are popular and over with the crowd in PROFRESSIONAL Wrestling. What a crime?

What has always sank him when in orbit of WWE is having a star mentality - pushy, forceful etc. Instead of doing the Bruce Prichard to Vince "what if we do this instead" routine.

Knight apparently got a huge babyface reaction at MSG last weekend. Things have changed in WWE. But the Garden is still the Garden.

The true challenge for Knight for is cutting THAT promo that truly connects with the fanbase. That escapes he's just doing a Austin/Rock impression criticism.

  11. I think it is Taya almost 100%.

There's so many people that matter in Pro Wrestling who think the World of Nicole and rightfully. I am sure she'll get a shot somewhere. Was very kind to the Britts and Deonnas of the World when they first started. I've no idea what her intentions are in 2023 Pro Wrestling wise but she's 36 and has a very good, pensionable job.

Taya is a good person to pair up with Jade size wise at least and a "name". I assume Taya ends up in The Outcasts ultimately if AEW signs her as Saraya advocated for AEW to sign her about a month ago on Twitter.

I more than assume AEW are just killing time on Jade until Statlander comes back. TK sticks with his booking and his people very faithfully.

  12. Pretty much everything MJF does publicly is a work.

When is Tequila a clear liquid and sold in large cups from parent occupying a child? A child wearing a hoodie while hooded.

The source of the Tequila thing is Alvarez and Meltzer not exactly drinkers either. Meltzer initially said it was Vodka.

I guess you think the plane ticket was real too?

After listening to TK in the media scrum about how he books AEW and ROH, it confirmed a lot of what everyone has said about him for a long time. It seems the vast majority of what holds a feud together depends mostly on the wrestlers involved coming up with stuff and TK is mostly concerned about who he pairs up with who (how that might work for ratings/buys) and then letting shit sink or swim, didn't sound like he worries much about the hows and whys of an angle.

Completely not the case. He's very hands on. He's producing matches in the ring on his knees and hands regularly.

  14. 2 hours ago, Matt D said:

I wasn’t a fan of those matches. Anyone can do that stuff in 2023. He’s much more interesting when he’s doing an abdominal stretch and holding onto the ropes.

"Anyone can do that stuff in 2023."

    Who? Where? When?

    With links.

Like, I don't even mind Parker that much, he's obviously green but could progress, but somehow Mogul Affiliates is LAMER than Hit Row, in terms of being a group. Shame Rick Ross can't be a full time heel manager, because Swerve/Ross is where the money is at.

NXT wise was one of those releases that was a correct assessment of a talent.

Unable to pass further than this. And believe me people tried.

  16. 42 minutes ago, KawadaSmile said:

But it doesn't have to be that way, tho. Like, if you want to have MJF succeeding, wouldn't hiding his weakness be the first thing you do? I remember a match against Jericho that he had in which he was in control and then he just proceeded to to an Asai Moonsault for no reason, something which even JR called out. It seems the booking in this reign is backwards - all his flaws are getting highlighted instead of his strenghts.

What I'm saying is that there may be better ways of showing "yeah our World Champ can go in the ring" than a sixty minute ironman match, even if the opponent is Bryan Danielson.

MJF's technical wrestling matches with Jungle Boy and Darby Allin were excellent. What are you talking about it?

The fact the last podcast they did before Jerry passed away was about Jeff's formative years, and they addressed Jerry being ill with cancer, is quite something retrospectively.

It REALLY is. Ric Flair said the Jerry he knew would have commanded Jeff to show up for work.

Between that and Mark Briscoe's waking up and still feeding chickens on the farm. Human beings are really robust and remarkable.

You misread me. I said that *if* Punk saying the EVPs suck at managing and that Adam Page is an unaccomplished airhead “jeopardized the company”, then AEW is not long for this world. But AEW is fine, and was fine, so it didn’t. Punk was pissed at a persistent rumor that had been dogging him in the locker room (that Tony seemingly had not addressed in any substantial way), and hurt, and he let’er rip in public. It might have ruined his relationship with the owner and terminally alienated the least interesting camps of the locker room, that remains to be seen, but if the company was any kind of healthy, it was always going to be fine.

Link to the Hangman Page statement (video - it exist) to prove you've ever heard it in context please?

The most covered story of the last decade probably and you are still confused and stuck in September.

  19. 4 minutes ago, Embrodak said:

He didn’t “jeopardize the company”. I don’t care what you have heard from any anonymous source or any dirt sheet reporting same; get real. If he *did*, AEW is not long for this world. He made Tony look bad, definitely, but Tony is the guy who marches his people in front of the press without a script and minimal experience in dealing with wrestler egos, not to mention his obviously poor media training.

"AEW is not long for this world."

    Is this Twitter?

    Citation needed.

What do we think is getting added to Revolution's card? Are they going to do Saraya vs Toni?

I assume you mean Saraya vs Hayter which sounds completely compelling in terms of a match where Saraya is skill, cardio and physically wise is unable for.

And a women's Face of the Revolution Ladder Match featuring the debut of the ex-Sasha Banks. Lets shoot for the stars.

  21. 13 hours ago, MoS said:

So apparently per Fightful, Thunder Rosa apologised to Britt and everyone in the women's division to clear things for her comeback. Would be interesting to know more details on this. Did the women demand that an apology be made? Cuz this sets a precedent for what Punk has to do to come back, and I absolutely do not see him making apologies to the locker room, that is just not who he is or has ever been.

Punk is much bigger star than Thunder Rosa. And Pro Wrestling is a star business.

The criticisms of Thunder Rosa were valid and well founded. But only reached interpersonal, women's locker room levels.

CM Punk jeopardised the company and made Tony look like a fool publicly.

Dax has said that they know there’s basically one big payday left for them. The next contract they want to sign needs to be their last. So they’re going to leverage that to make sure they get all they can out of a final run.

I am of the belief things have been worked out and business has been done when it comes with FTR and AEW. FTR were backstage at the Kentucky Dynamite (Jay's memorial show). Dax this week on his podcast took the blame about deterioration of his relationship with Tony Khan 2021-ish and (while protecting on-screen kayfabe) The Young Bucks and implied there's been a reconciliation recently. Dax put things down to the big issue he has with controlling his crippling anxiety.

Just reading the tea leaves just on what Wrestlers and friends of CM Punk have been tweeting and Like-ing. There seems to be movement there. Also in the last week including a hint on Dax's podcast there's been talk going around that Edge would be interested in joining AEW after his WWE contract is up at the end of the year.

Working with CM Punk again, making money off the The Elite drama, Edge is FTR's mentor and a FTR vs Edge & Christian match would be BIG reasons to stay for FTR you have to think.

If someone is plagued with the anxiety issues that Dax has. Working for new and inexperienced owners and maybe with Vince still in the mix Creative wise that seems like a very negative situation in contrast.

Her passion about Pro Wrestling is one of the first things that stood about her in NXT. A major Sara Del Rey project there.

Winning second WWE Women's Triple Crown Champion is hardly a footnote. She's like the fifth Horsewoman.

A lot of her in-ring isn't for me. But she isn't for me she's for young girls and those who that overcame teenage anorexia. Anorexia in her early teens stunted her development which is why she has short limbs and can't bump and feed. She was "a rah-rah girl" was that was her exit from anorexia.

Watch the 2019 "WWE 365" Alexa Bliss documentary on the WWE Network/Peacock. Not passionate and fame hungry are things that shouldn't be associated with her at all.
