sek69
...and I was completely blown away. I read the taping reports of the Johnny Jeter angle and I thought "well it can't be *THAT* good, these are mostly developmental guys and indy-4-life guys". I watched it and I can say it WAS that good. The way the angle was sold was better than anything WWE has done in years. The one person who got it over the most was OVW announcer Dean Hill. He's a 6 foot 5 (at least) ex-cop with a Wilford Brimley looking mustache, and after the intial beatdown of Matt Cappotelli, the image of Dean sitting at the ringside desk with Matt's blood on his hands (literally) not able to form his disgust into words was awesome to watch. The next week was even better, as they showed everyone in the entire company (not just the wrestlers) were disgusted by Jeter's actions. Jeter came out again and Dean was cussing him out under his breath, but when Jeter called him on it he exploded (while standing, to illustrate he's not some mousy WWE announcer). I was marking out, then the cameraman (!) showed his disgust by setting the camera down on the desk and walking off rather than continue to film Jeter's interview. It was capped off by OVW owner Danny Davis calling Jeter out to the ring and bitchslapping him until Jeter finally laid him out, gaining even more heel heat. It was so old school NWA, and I was marking like a five year old, but at the same time I amazed that this is WWE's development territory booking circles around the "big leagues". sek69
Another good part is when Ken Anderson comes out after he debuted on Smackdown to announce his name change to Ken Kennedy. He comes out and talks about meeting with "Vinny" who tells him he needs a new name because there hasn't been an Anderson on TV in 57 years, so he picked Vince's middle name. He then instructs the crowd from now on to refer to him as "MISTER...KENNEDY....*jumps on the ringside desk so his ass (with the "Mr. Kennedy" on his tights) is level with the camera*......KENNNN....EDD...EYYYY" That promo alone probably sealed his promotion to WWE.
