shoe
Gedo vs Cavenario This was good. Gedo has a charisma that gets matches over. His style stands out in comparison to the others. The guys have good chemistry. Cavenario plays well off of Gedo. I wish Gedo gave Cavenario more in the match. 2 1/2* Kushida vs Finlay This was good stuff. I liked how both guys worked the arm. Finlay needs to learn more types of reactions. Finlay is showing promise. Kushida was tremendous and his arm work was nasty. The finish was great. 3* Romero vs N. Jackson I really liked this how they straddled the line between comedy and seriousness. The end result was a really entertaining match. 3* Taguchi vs Barretta This was very comedy based, and Barretta has a lot of experience working that style. I much prefer Taguchi in 6 mans. 2 1/4*
SomethingSavage
I have yet to see him work, so this year's tourney will be my first impression & glimpse at him, but... Do you figure Finlay will come away from this excursion with a style similar to Sabre Jr after Noah? Just curious. Taguchi & Trent are normally skippable for me, but I might check this one out. Everything else here looks enticing enough. Jackson & Romero can be completely hit or miss in singles, but I'm trying to catch as much as I can from the tourney. shoe
I believe Finlay is part of the NJ dojo. So the dude is going to improve ten fold.
CodySave
I think Cavenario has put in a really nice showing so far, enough to be added on future tours. I don't watch a ton of lucha, so a situation like this is excellent exposure for a guy like him. Has Gedo been wrestling regularly and I completely missed it? Because in what I assume is his return from a long absence of regular action, he has looked incredibly sharp and in great shape. I'm huge fan of the Young Bucks, but Romero is generally not someone who interests me. Credit to both these guys because they drew me into the match to the point I completely stopped what else I was doing. I've seen it before, but I always enjoy the "superkick near count out" sequence. Nifty maneuvering by both men in this battle. Curb stomp on the apron seems like it should me a game ender, but I've never seen that variation before. By the way - does anyone know why it's only Nick Jackson in BOSJ and not Matt as well? Injury? Given their positioning in New Japan, I must say I'm surprised Nick Jackson has dropped some falls already. I expected him as a final four guy. Taguchi is tremendously uninteresting to me. Brings everything down.
Dylan Waco
Matt's wife is about to give birth so he decided to skip the tour
SomethingSavage
I've gone back & forth on Romero a ton of times by now. He's outclassed by a lot of guys in this field. Don't get me wrong. But he's not somebody that you can ever totally sleep on when it comes to quality performances. I've seen him do enough with a wide range of opponents to make most of his matches *at least* worth checking out.Definitely not a must-see act, but he's had some surprisingly good stuff in just the last year.
