Ricky Jackson
Anyone know why this seems to be the only existing footage of Stampede Wrestling from the first nearly 20 years of the TV show? I'm going to be doing a podcast mini-series shortly on the history of Stampede and I'm curious how this seemingly random show survived and nothing else did from this era, or at least nothing has surfaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated
khawk20
It was originally on WWE Classics on Demand, and I assume they converted the show themselves. As such, I suspect there is more available nut the WWE would have to release it for us to see it. Next Stampede footage they released after that was IIRC 1978 which ran somewhat monthly into 1979. When they cancelled the service, the monthly stuff stopped of course. Whether they had more of that converted or not remains to be seen. Ricky Jackson
There are a few random bits not released by WWE that have been out there over the years, like a Stomper vs Dan Kroffat match from 73, but yeah very little pre-1978
Indikator
I'm fairly certain that it is not even a tv show, they probably used footage from two shows that month
Ricky Jackson
Looking online, I believe you're right. The Gino Marella match aired on that date, but I think the other matches were from a different taping
