Bix
Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets The monthly slate of Patreon-exclusive shows for Between The Sheets patrons gets a new addition with Between The Bulletins. Each month, we'll pull a pre-"dirt sheet" era wrestling newsletter bulletin and navigate through the results, posters, ads, newspaper clippings, notes, and whatever else is in there. For the debut show, Kris and David are joined by Beau James to discuss the March 1982 edition of Tom Burke's Global Wrestling News Service. We discuss just about every territory, a bunch of outlaw groups, the international scene, and more. Lots of great information on Mid-South Wrestling expanding into Oklahoma, Beau's beloved Southeast Championship Wrestling, Ric Flair and Blackjack Mulligan's Knoxville promotion and Leroy McGuirk's Tri-State territory both nearing the end, a strange roster of foreigners in NJPW, and much more! Sign up here. Patrons can click here for the show. We also have a free preview of the episode where Beau educates Kris and David about a Kentucky outlaw promotion that was advertised in a clipping featured in the newsletter. Specifically, he explains they mixed the occasional genuine name wrestler in with numerous masked imposters. Also, David reads the highlights from a letter that Antone "Ripper" Leone sent Sam Muchnick during his back and forth with the NWA while running opposition shows in the 1950s. Matt D
This is a really good idea. I was going to suggest to you guys that you do something like "1979 Thanksgiving Day Shows" and look at all the results from that night and give context to the feuds and how the pushes were working and the territories, etc., but this is another way at getting at that sort of thing that's maybe more in line with the BtS format.
