Questions from Percy Pringle shoots

I'm watching the Percy Pringle (Paul Bearer) shoots and I'm finding that there are cases in which he tells a story without a name but gives enough clues to figure it out.

The one that comes to mind at the second is:

What main event guy was fired during the drug testing era for trying to cheat during a urine test by using a Visine bottle full of piss and *dropping the bottle* in front of the testers?

From what he says, the guy involved was fired immediately.

That leads me to believe one of three possible names was involved.

1. Ultimate Warrior

He left on short notice at the end of 1992 but, according to Meltzer, was involved with Davey Boy Smith in getting Human Growth Hormone to circumvent the tests and that's why he was fired.

2. Davey Boy Smith

See above.

3. Sid Vicious

He left shortly after Wrestlemania 8 and was supposedly involved in a failed drug test, which went into the legend of him kicking out of Hogan's legdrop being a shoot. (According to others, he kicked out because Papa Shango (Godfather, Kama Mustapha) was late running down to the ring and missed breaking up the pin)

I'll add other questions later as they pop up in the interview.

This isn't a question, but more of an answer to another question raised in the past.

According to Pringle, the autopsy on Gino Hernandez showed that his blood had the most cocaine in one person's system that the medical examiner had ever seen in the history of Dallas.

Directly, that doesn't say much because Gino's death was already widely known to be an OD.

Indirectly, it lends credence to the theory put forth by Tully Blanchard and others that Gino got whacked by the Mafia in Dallas for various reasons. (One story was that he owed a ton of money to them. Another was that he got involved with some mobster's girlfriend. etc.)

I want to believe the guy fired because of the Visine bottle was Sid. It just seems like something he'd do.

As far as Gino goes, a lot of people who knew him seem to believe that he pissed someone off and that someone was probably mob-connected and Gino ended up in deep shit. The amount of cocaine found in his system would suggest that someone unfamiliar with drugs wanted to make it look like an OD.

Fucking HILARIOUS European tour story...

When the WWF was in Amsterdam, Percy took Harvey Whippleman (Downtown Bruno) on a tour and, at one point, they went to the Red-Light District.

At the Red-Light District there, all the girls are in store windows with the lights on, basically on display for whoever is windowshopping and decides they're interested.

Well, as they're walking down there, Harvey finds one he's interested in and starts searching for some money. Neither of them are sure how much it costs.

While he's searching for the money, Harvey keeps moving closer and closer to catch the attention of the hooker in the window.

When the hooker finally notices him, she takes a look at him then quickly turns off her light, sets the sign to closed, and leaves.

Needless to say, Percy ribbed Harvey CONSTANTLY over that.

From the "Well, that explains that..." category:

Apparently, Regis Philbin went way back with Classy Freddy Blassie back from when they were both in LA, which is why he was involved with WWF promotions at various times (WM3, WM7, etc.)

On more of a "duh" note, Percy notes that Kathy Lee Gifford was a HUGE bitch and apparently thought little of the wrestlers because her husband, Frank Gifford, was a football player and a "real" athlete.

He was only *on* WM7, but he had WWF guys on "Regis And Kathy Lee" doing promotional work for various shows, including WM3 and Summerslam 1992.

Guest Mike Campbell

According to Blassie's book, him and Regis actually go way back, to when Regis was first getting started on television. One of his most frequent (and popular) guests on his show was Blassie.
