pantherwagner
CMLL, 10/15/05 - Atlantis vs. Mistico God Mistico fucking sucked here. CMLL, late 2005 - Universo 2000, Pierroth & co. vs. Perros del Mal feud This feud was the best thing going on TV in late 2005, and those are episodes filled with Santo in his seasonal return to Arena Mexico. Hate filled brawls, really like old Mid South wrestling, with plenty of outside the ring brawling, foreign object shots, and even some pretty great looking dives by guys who are not good at dives (great as in "that hurts" not "that had a lot of flips and great execution"). It's a shame most of the guys in this feud either are too old, or just not good on their own, because these awesome multi-men brawls (that come off great on tape so I can only imagine how incredible they must have been live with the insanely hot 12000+ Arena Mexico crowds) usually build to pretty mediocre singles matches. anarchistxx
Kurt Angle v Shawn Michaels Nowhere near as good on the second viewing. They don't do enough to keep me interested for the duration, the outside spots seem like overkill and unnecessary, and the finish is rather overbooked. It's still a great match, and I love certain parts, but I'm not as high on it as I once was. ***3/
Dylan Waco
Eddie Guerrero v. Rey Misterio Jr. 6/05 This is my WWE MOTD thus far. The fact that these guys had another MOTD in a different promotion working a totally different style makes this even better in a way. The whole match really is the story of their feud developing from beginning to end. It starts with both guys trying to outwrestle each other and Rey coming out on top. The mat exchanges are solid, well done, and reasonably simple. When it becomes obvious that Eddie isn't going to win this way, he breaks the match long pattern of clean breaks and throws Rey off the top rope to the floor. This transitions into Eddie beating Rey down, focusing on the back and just smashing him to bits with stuff. The mannerisms and expressions of Eddie are awesome throughout and Rey is great with the mini-comebacks. They do a great job teasing the 619 throughout the match, and the setups for it were unusually realistic. Eddie was great as he gradually got more confident, than cocky and then scared as he realized he had unloaded everything and he still wasn't quite there. Rey is great selling throughout. I really should do a much more focused review of this, but it's just a great match and Rey winning is perfect here because the match is just the living embodyment of the whole feud. Guest Chainz
I'd love to see a full long review by you on this match, i tend to agree with most of your reviews at SC, but i think i need to hear what makes this your MOTD? because I still have to take the 'usual suspect' in Austin/Rock X7, each to their own though
Dylan Waco
Oh, actually I really should review those two together. Look for that next week.
anarchistxx
I actually didn't did that Rey/Eddie match as much as some. Very good match, no doubt, but when you've seen Havoc it's rather disappointing. They try to work a different style, but aren't so good at it, at least with each other. I still maintain Rey's peak was 2002.
Guest Chainz
I wasn't on the net and had actually stopped watching wrestling in 2001, which i regret like hell now, but it's definatly got something that clicks for me, weather it be the drama, storytelling, non stop action, and just the spectacle of it. Are you a big fan of Austin-Rock Dylan? (could be a stupid question, but seeing as you are reviewing them together, i'm just wondering if thats making a case for Austin Rock not being so good?) Bix
Eddie Guerrero v. Rey Misterio Jr. 6/05 Is this the smackdown match? Yeah, the abdominal stretch one.
