‘Thanksgiving Thunder Tour Special’

  1. Battle Royal (jip, from Johnson City, TN)
  2. INT: Tracey Smothers (from Johnson City, TN)
  3. INT: Tim Horner, Rock & Roll Express
  4. Handicap Match: Paul Orndorff vs Danny Davis & Ron Garvin (jip, from Johnson City, TN) - Garvin gets the pin but again piledrives Davis after the match and as he is about to do the same to Garvin, Tim Horner runs down to make the save.
  5. INT: Paul Orndorff & Tony Anthony - backstage interview. Brian Matthews can’t believe that Orndorff would interfere and help Dirty White Boy beat Horner, but Orndorff states that’s a blatant lie. “Do you think the Dirty White Boy needs his help to beat Horner?”  He tells Matthews that he needs glasses just like Bob Armstrong needs glasses, and the only thing that matter is that the Dirty White Boy still has the belt.  Anthony says that he beat Horner 1-2-3 all by himself and he just can’t handle that.  He says that if Ron Garvin or anyone else wants to stand beside him that’s fine as he has Paul Orndorff stood beside him.
  6. INT: Tim Horner & Ron Garvin - Horner says that every time he goes up against the Dirty White Boy there is some kind of interference and now it’s Paul Orndorff.  He asks Garvin if he wants to stand by him as if anyone knows anything about Orndorff it is him.  Garvin tells Horner that he will but he’s got to take it easy, stay cool and drive them nuts that way.
  7. Special Report on the tag team situation between the Heavenly Bodies and the Rock & Roll Express
  8. Hospital Elimination Match: Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Rock & Roll Express (jip, from Harlan, KY) - this match took place a few days prior to the Thanksgiving Thunder tour.  Unfortunately the Smoky Mountain Wrestling cameras weren't present at the event, but a fan using a camcorder in the bleachers was willing to give them their tape.  With Stan Lane and Robert Gibson already eliminated through being busted open, Jim Cornette enters the ring and is about to hit Rocky Morton with the tennis racket when Gibson jumps in the ring and steals it off him.  Gibson then hits Prichard in the head with it, splitting him open and the Express win the belts.  The Bodies and Cornette go to work on the Rock & Rolls after the match, with Cornette and his tennis racket keeping everyone at bay and from getting in the ring to help.  As more wrestlers come out, so does Killer Kyle, to help his manager, and it turns into a pretty wild and crazy scene.
  9. Falls Count Anywhere Match: Rock & Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) (jip, from Hazard, KY) - this was the first match of the Thanksgiving Thunder tour.  Lane has Gibson in a sleeper inside the ring and this enables Cornette to use the ether soaked towel on Morton, who is outside the ring and outside the vantage point of Mark Curtis.  Morton is knocked out from the ether and Prichard covers him on the arena floor for the win and title change.
  10. Les Thatcher informs us that there is no footage of the second match in the tour, the Texas Death match from Welch, WV, however the Rock & Roll Express defeated the Bodies in the tenth fall to become the new champions.
  11. Street Fight: Rock & Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) (jip, from Johnson City, TN) - the footage starts just before Cornette takes a great punch from Morton.  Corny uses the tennis racket to the throat of Morton, before they tie him to the ropes and bust him open.   In the ring the Bodies double team Gibson before one of the ring attendants eventually cut Morton free (why is the attendant getting involved?).  The Bodies 'bag' Gibson attempting to suffocate him and Morton with a chair makes the save.  These are some ultra conservative hands up chair shots, but with what we know now, no issue on my part with that.  The Rock & Rolls bring a table in to the ring and both Bodies get whipped into it.  Cornette throws his tennis racket in and as Lane is about to hit Gibson with it, he kicks him in the mid-section and snatches it off him.  Gibson backs Cornette up but Prichard knees Gibson in the back and as Cornette holds him, Prichard goes for the clothesline but Gibson ducks and he nails Cornette instead.  Double dropkick on Prichard, but Lane makes the save and breaks up the pin.  Gibson goes back to attacking Cornette, Prichard loads the boot, kicks Gibson in the head and gets the pin for another title change.  From what aired on TV I thought this was an awesome brawl.  My main criticism is that Cornette was far too involved in the match and it was almost as though this was a handicap match as opposed to a straight tag.
  12. Barbed Wire Cage Match: Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Rock & Roll Express (jip, from Knoxville, TN) - Prichard powders Gibson and the Bodies double team Morton.  Gibson eventually gets his bearings back then gets hold of a chain and starts to unload on Prichard.  Cornette throws an ether soaked towel into the cage to Lane but Morton kicks it out of his hands.  The towel ends on Stanfield's head and Morton rolls him up for the pin whilst Gibson sprays the ether at Prichard for the fourth title change in four days.
  13. INT: Rock & Roll Express - they say that in the past two weeks they’ve been the tag team champions on three occasions, but there’s one thing left they have to do.  Through every match they’ve had with the Heavenly Bodies, it’s always been Jim Cornette sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong.  It’s not going to be over until they get their hands on him, which is why they have asked for a handicap match with Cornette on the Bodies side and with their tag titles on the line.
  14. INT: Bob Armstrong - he announces that this Christmas they will be running an event called Christmas Chaos as a special thank you to all the fans for supporting them this year.  He then says that the promised the Stud Stable a match and title shot against the Heavenly Bodies last week but it’s not his fault that they’re no longer the champions, however he has signed a match between the teams for 12/12.
  15. Down & Dirty w/ Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - Dutch asks Cornette to give him some comments about the upcoming Christmas Chaos match and he says that it was bad enough that the Rock & Roll Express ripped them off for the belts, but now they've gone to Bob Armstrong requesting a 3 on 2 handicap match.  They've got to be crazy as there is no way that they can beat Stan and Tom together, much less with a man of his caliber in the ring.  However he doesn't want to get in the ring; he's afraid that he may hurt them and get arrested, it's not that he's scared.  He is also upset that Armstrong has signed a match between them and the Stud Stable where they were to defend the title belts against them, but has invited his good friends Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden to join them.  Cornette says that Armstrong set this up to try and cause trouble between them, but he knows that it's not going to work.  He says that as they are no longer the champions there is no point in having the match as it would just be a waste of time.  Robert Fuller says that there is no point in getting the Commissioner mad, let’s go ahead and have the match and find out who the number one contender is. Stanfield tells the Studs that even though they haven't had the national exposure that they have, he's admired them for a long time because they have been on top in the local small promotions and it would be a pleasure to wrestle them.  Prichard says that if they are to have the match he knows it will be a good clean bout as the Bodies won't break the rules and he knows that they won't break them either.  Cornette says that they live by sportsmanship and if they have the match that is what's going to take place, it's just a shame that Dutch won't be there to witness it.  Dutch responds and says that he will be there as he is an associate member of the Stud Stable as you can see by his jacket.  Cornette is a bit taken back by this and tells him he's admired him for years, but that he's taking too much on and to just stick to his commentary as he's doing great and that Bob Caudle would be nothing without him.  Dutch states that he will be right across the ring from him and the Bodies and Cornette reluctantly offer their hands to the Stud Stable.
  16. Kevin Sullivan vs Mongolian Stomper (from Johnson City, TN) - The Stomper has the Shinnonamake sleeper on Sullivan when the Nightstalker interferes for the DQ.  Bobby Fulton, Robbie Eagle, Dixie Dy-No-Mite and Tracey Smother come out to run the heels off, but the Stomper starts beating on those who tried to help him out.
  17. INT: Bob Armstrong - dressing room interview. He says that the Mongolian Stomper is as wild as ever and Kevin Sullivan is in for a big problem.  The Stomper then pushes past Armstrong and heads to Sullivan’s dressing room to attack him.  They start fighting and Sullivan gets him in the eye with the spike until eventually they are separated and kept apart by the Nightstalker, Robbie Eagle and Dixie Dy-No-Mite.
  18. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette
  19. INT: Bob Armstrong - he’s been on the phone to the Board of Directors and has come up with a triple main event for Christmas Chaos.  The matches will be the Mongolian Stomper & a partner (as of the moment no-one has signed on to partner the Stomper) vs Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker, Tony Anthony & Paul Orndorff vs Tim Horner & Ron Garvin and Rock & Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette.

Bold matches are PWO recommended
