ShittyLittleBoots Posted September 22, 2024 Report Posted September 22, 2024 This is for Bryan's ROH World Championship. Coming off of their first match at Weekend of Champions, this rematch is for Bryan's World Championship since Nigel did beat him via count-out in that said previous match. I do think that their first match is a tad bit better (the Pure rules stuff is just so much fun), but man this thing rules so much as well. The competitive energy is just off the charts with the match feeling like a constant cock-fight with Bryan & Nigel trying to prove to one another that they truly are the best in the world. The match is compelling wrestling from bell-to-bell with the action beautifully building towards the end. Awesome, creative finish as well to boot. Terrific 2nd match to further their rivalry. ****1/4 Quote
ohtani's jacket Posted July 14 Report Posted July 14 Danielson had entered his "best in the world" phase by this point. I had already moved to Japan and the only wrestling I had access to were VHS tapes from Tsutaya or Champion, but I remember there being tremendous hype around Danielson vs. McGuinness. During the best parts of this, the hype is warranted, however they get a bit cutesy with the booking. I hated the finish. They'd already had a cop out in the first bout and this was just as bad. I'm not a big fan of building to a blowout where there isn't a cheap finish but that was clearly what they were going for here. There was some pretty good work in the match, and it was entertaining overall, but it would have been a much more effective match without the cheap finish. Quote
