WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage - WWF MSG 2/17/86 Lumberjack

I thought this was still very good but a comedown from January. There were more wrinkles in January and no Elizabeth felt weird when she was so essential to the first two matches. Hogan was really hamming it up in this match which was fun. He beats Savage pillar to post early back suplex. The babyface lumberjacks let him beat up Savage on the outside. Double Gozzle a Savage staple and a Bearhug. Hogan’s WrestleMania II opponent is a lumberjack and Bundy trips Hogan. Hogan Cant help but get a lick in only for Macho Man to go for the eyes. He comes crashing down on Hogan’s injured back they must have run the Bundy SNME angle as Hogan’s back is bandaged. Macho Man does the smart thing and throws Hogan to the wolves. Muraco holds Hogan for not one but two Avalanches against the Ring post. Solid heat segment with Savage hurling his body against Hogan’s back. Unfortunately Savage hits the Reviving Elbow on Hogan and the Hulk Up that ensues does him in. One of the Lumberjacks trip Savage and the Leg Drop is All She Wrote for the Macho Man! A very fun easy breezy trilogy that I highly recommend. Top notch character work from both men in all three matches. *** 1/2
