  1. "What a time not to be a turtle" Lee Marshall
  2. I'd love to see these two have a proper match in Mexico, but don't think it ever happened.
  3. I wasn't hallucinating, this actually did happen. Some really freaky BDSM.
  4. You can tell that Vince didn't script all of this. The part when he was giving examples of popular TV shows that his audience might also watch was quite funny as well.
  5. Good Lord, Ric Flair reading out a Dave Melzer quote on WCW TV. The dirtsheets weren't so dirty anymore.
  6. On some of these rants Cornette was just being a mouthpiece for McMahon. I think it's fair to say that these weren't Vince's views on wrestling.
  7. You had some fans chanting 'Funk' so the pantyhose wasn't a great disguise. Whoever thought that Leatherface would get his gimmick ripped off by a legend like Terry Funk?
  8. That's not actually possible if you've watched it.
  9. Despite what Tony Schiavione might have said this was the biggest match in the history of WCW. It was so easy to book as well. Just have Sting go over clean and everyone is happy. Maybe have Hart run off some NWO interference. The action was pretty bad, but it usually was in WCW main events and that didn't seem to matter much. The non-fast count destroyed the whole thing and made everything that came after a joke. You could point to this as one of the key events in WCW's demise.
  10. It took how long?!!! I liked the Bobby Heenan grovelling as that's just what his WWF character would've done.
  11. HBK may have already vacated 5 titles without doing the J-O-B, but here he is selflessly putting over a rising young star in the middle of the ring. Afterwards he showed how upset he was initially to promote the value of the European title. Once he'd got over the initial disappointment Shawn displayed great sportsmanship by celebrating with the new champion. And I cried when he 'lost his smile'.
  12. It says so much about the WWF that even in a toy fighting contest they had to have a swerve.
  13. The Rock at this stage was no match for Stone Cold. Even the entire Nation was no match for Austin who destroyed all four of them without taking his jacket off.
  14. I was marking out hard for Stunt Granny! I've never seen a wrestler vs irate old lady confrontation that hasn't been awesome.
  15. I hate a lot of the things they did with Goldust, but this segment was shocking in a good way. It looks like they've moved on from the Pillman saga until Dustin turns on his wife and dumps her. Really good acting from both.
  16. You will never see a more blatant example of a wrestler being punished than this. The Anvil gets humiliated and buried for something that was nothing to do with him.
  17. You forget how expensive computer games used to be in the 90's.
  18. Announcers calling the names of wrestling moves was out of date even in 97.
  19. Hot final moments in the match. Then Flair chasing off Hennig and cutting his best promo in ages. He was legit fired up and pissed off, and unlike most guys could turn that into a positive.
  20. The NOD go from Gang Warz to another racist angle. Of course it's a DX setup, but wrestlers are as gullible as the writers tell them to be. Okay so before the Austin runin we have the NOD (heels) vs DX (heels) vs Hart Foundation (heels). Complicated times for the fans.
  21. I couldn't figure out what was going on in the ring. It started off with a fight with one fan but then chairs start flying and the wrestlers bid a hasty retreat. The way they were protecting themselves with chairs I got the impression this wasn't the first time it had happened. Was the guy in the crowd Bob Barnett?
  22. There is no excuse other than excessive alcohol consumption for a man to ever do this. Shawn probably wanted to walk out to the ring naked and Vince made him compromise.
  23. There were probably some people expecting Brian Pillman to return on Raw the following week. It's hard to believe this was reality and they actually did this interview.
  24. I just remember this as it's the first segment of the first Raw that I ever watched. In September of 97 I'd finally convinced my parents to get satellite TV. Not for the WWF mind you. I hadn't watched wrestling for several years, but found a different product to the one I had left behind. I was hooked on the show for the next 5 years or so, and 16 years later my pro wrestling love remains strong.
  25. Eddie doesn't even bother disguising his wrestling style. It was awkward afterwards as they struggled to get the mask off. The best thing about this was Rey's ridiculously awesome finisher.
