  1. Something fake happened on a wrestling show!
  2. It cracked me up how Missy obviously thinks she looks amazing. Which she does, in a way. This piece was pure advertisement.
  3. I was just about to ask if anyone knew someone who actually bought that jacket. At least around this time there was early Goldust to outdo HBK in the flamboyance department.
  4. I sometimes try that too, but it lasts about as long as a kid losing his virginity.
  5. This was at a time before the Undertaker took months off after ever storyline beating.
  6. I like how Loss doesn't even have to describe what happened because it's so obvious.
  7. I think the Rock had a few matches beforehand and this was his TV debut. It's a really nice introduction for a rookie with two helpful veterans to work with.
  8. I'd heard about this plenty of times but never seen the footage. What struck me is how positive the fan reaction was, not just the 'Smart Marks' but the whole crowd.
  9. Oh I don't know, I'd much rather watch this than the usual ECW crap. It's a stripper doing her thing. She can't wrestle or act, so let Kimona do something that she's good at.
  10. Not the best night to shell out for ringside tickets. I just loved Vince's voice on the line Loss mentioned.
  11. I have no idea how Konnan ever got past basic training. Mechanically he's so badly suited to wrestling. In terms of natural talent as a worker Konnan would be comparable with someone like El Gigante.
  12. Whenever Raven appears on screen I do one of two things: 1) FF past the chapter. 2) Say "Shut the fuck up" and FF past the chapter.
  13. It was quite dangerous for a non-wrestler to take a bump like that. Great angle.
  14. I'd forgotten how strongly they were pushing Ahmed for a couple of months in the Summer of '96. He had a great image and presence, but that was about it.
  15. The Pedigree '96.
  16. The Mauler vs Steve Doll? Mike Enos vs Steven Dunn apparently. I had to wiki both of them. But then it's interrupted by the man with no name and the invasion has begun.
  17. I'm sure that was the Stargate.
  18. Major FF material. Her acting was bad enough but nothing compared to that haircut.
  19. He conveniently didn't mention that the Godwinns beat Ken Patterson and Tajiri. That would have sent more people across than the Foley title win.
  20. Missy's lips looked ridiculous. Way too much surgery.
  21. This show was notable for having the final televised appearances in AJW for Akira Hokuto and Bull Nakano. Neither match warranted inclusion on the Yearbook, and Hokuto would debut for GAEA in September. In the WWWA Title collision we have the bridesmaid of the time Yumiko Hotta, falling just short once again. Compared with their bouts from previous years this was a disappointment. They took quite an interesting approach with Toyota standing up to the kicker and going toe to toe. It was Hotta that ended up bleeding from the forehead and the nose. Very stiff and it looked sure to end up being a good one. It would have done if they had just ended it with a finisher instead of both kicking out of the others marquee move. It was a sign of bad things to come stylistically, and I thought it so fitting that this mistake ruined the match. A perfect example of bad Karma. They must have blown about 5 moves in record time. It was terrible beyond belief and killed it ending on such a downer. Come to think of it their 6/17/90 match was like that too, falling off a cliff.
  22. I love Bret's interviews like this because he talks about wrestling in the same terms that they do in Japan. It's still real to him, dammit!
  23. This was such great fun with Lawler screaming whilst taking bumps, casually chatting in the middle of holds and cracking jokes. The one about the Pinto was LOL. What a way to make a jobber match entertaining.
