MoS... I have to agree with you a little... I like DDL more as an actor than I like Dean as a wrestler, but I totally see your point. And maybe, just maybe, I'm swayed towards DDL because the movies he's been in have generally been great. But I agree with you on this more than I really want to :-)

Ha! Awesome :-)
-
Buddy Rogers?
-
Yes!!!! Won a ton of Oscars. Always brilliant. But a lot of his early stuff is almost impossible to find. But a true legend :-)
-
Cool beans. Great work, Steven!

Thanks JP!!! Seriously... if these guys love a wrestler so much they would include them in the Top 100, who am I to argue? I just want to know why they are in the Top 100. This! I love the spirit of this series, and wish the whole GWE had more of this air about it (which is not the fault of the people organizing it, but absolutely on the rest of us). Fingers crossed for 2026 or something... It's way more inspiring to hear people talk up the guys they love and voted for, and to hear Will encourage them to stick by their picks, than to hear (or read) someone trying to put their choices over by burying other peoples favorites.

Scary... But you're right. And Buddy's so fucking good...

I think Steven is saving this quote for when Bret Hart drops. The quote so nice, we'll use it twice (But I think Steven genuinely hates it...)

You haven't fared poorly :-) I have with my boring list of 33 out of 33 remaining... You've made a list that I'm eager to check out and watch stuff of all the guys I didn't even consider ranking this time. I'm hoping to make a Scarlet-Left-Left list in 2026!
-
Have no problem with people ranking Benoit, at all. But also have no problem that he's dropped now. I now have everyone of the remaining guys on my list. Highest drop is my #23, Buddy Rose. Lowest guy remaining is my #91, Shawn Michaels.

I actually agree. Fujiwara wasn't really on my radar when I started plowing through the Japanese stuff. I had a bunch of names I was looking out for. But Fujiwara just kept popping up doing great work in matches where I was actually seeking other guys. So if really giving Japan a chance, he should be a name that makes an impression. In a way it was the same, but a little lower, for me with Yatsu. Happy byproducts of checking out the stuff :-)

Feels good that Foley dropped now to me. I ranked him, I like him but I do find his final placement a bit high. Buddy Rose is now my highest ranked drop (he was my #23). What a fucking awesome worker he was. He was great at every aspect of the business, wasn't he? I'd seen his bloated wwf character before, and a bunch of the awa stuff, but pwo turned me on to Portland (had only seen a couple of Piper Rose matches from there before), so thanks for that! Have enjoyed pretty much all I've seen, and also all the hardcore pimping of the guy that people like Matt D have done. Good job :-) Satanico has been another pwo revelation for me. Had seen maybe 3 or 4 matches of his a couple of years ago. I'm still not the biggest lucha guy, but I'm actually surprised I ranked so many of them, and ranked them so high... Maybe I have converted without knowing it myself :-) And, sorry Steven, but it has to be done: I never doubted El Dandy!

Yeah, it's definetely ok Styles dropped now. Other than Shawn and Foley he was the lowest ranked on my list that hadn't gone yet. Impressive showing for AJ, but I think you guys are right about the recency bias on him. How much of his case is the last 3-4 years and how much is actually his full career? EDIT: Hmm. Will's post above mine makes sense to me. Answers my question I think.

Fujiwara's awesome. Easily my highest ranked shoot worker (a style I don't like). But he's much more than shoot to me. What a great defensive worker, what a bad ass, and very charismatic. A cool cat.

Every day Savage doesn't drop is a good day :-)
-
Martel, DiBiase, Choshu... All in my top 50. DiBiase my highest drop so far at #25. I wouldn't mind Benoit (the last I didn't rank), Shawn and Foley dropping next, but I have a feeling only Foley's coming up anytime soon...
-
Ah. Got it. Pretty sure he initially had that Ted wouldn't rank. Didn't see him predicting him at 42. My bad.
-
Hmmm... Wasn't The March Madness thing about predicting the Final top 10 plus DiBiase's ranking? I think Parv guessed Ted wouldn't break the top 100. And I think he had him higher than 42 himself. (I seem to remember 42 on his list being Jack Brisco. They both had Brisco at 42 on their podcast, and I remember that because I almost had Jack at 42 as well, but ended up placing him at 40).
-
I ranked him 42 so I think I win something. You've won the answer to life, the universe and everything. Haha!!!! Great!!! Douglas Adams was a genius, but who'd have ever thought that the answer was DiBiase? :-)
-
Jimmy: I had Ted at 50 in the March Madness. So close, but no cigar. I ranked him higher myself though... Martel, DiBiase, Choshu. Personally I'd have them all higher than some of the guys still to come, but on that nonexistant objectivity scale I think their final places are quite fair. Don't care what anyone says. Damn we've ended up ranking some awesome guys.

I see it this way. I wasn't involved at all in 2006, but I feel connected to this list. I'm absolutely using this as a jumping off point for my viewing over the next decade. Because of this list, I'll be delving more into WoS, Joshi, and shoot-style, all of which I didn't make a strong priority. My list represents my "base" opinion and I look forward to fill in gaps using this as a reference. Amen!
-
Here's an example. I was pretty down on Kamala at the beginning of this project. Adam and others have turned me :-) ... He's not on this list for me, but he's shot way up high on the "favorites" or "most fun" list :-)
-
Totally, absolutely agree with Will and Stacey in their previous posts. This isn't the end of anything. The process is more important than the final result. This is supposed to be (and fucking is) fun as hell. My wrestling horizons have been broadened a ton by this whole project, and I'm certain that goes for plenty others. I've already seen a shitload of footage I wouldn't otherwise, and that is going to continue for years, and I'm grateful to everyone (well... almost everyone) on the board and in the different threads and on the podcasts for that.
-
Also, I know I might get shit kicked at me for this, but is it, in anyway, possible, that supporters of a particular niche style of wrestling thought that by showing a ton of footage of their favorite stuff and debating it, others would be convinced to love it as much. And then it just turns out that it is still a niche thing for those few, and that increasing the number of voters and the amount of footage, makes for a higher number of individual fans of said niche, but not necessarily a higher percentage? I don't even have a particular niche in mind for this argument, and I don't even know if it holds water. It's just a thought that came to me. And I get why that would feel disappointing to the guys who just really want to show something they love to others and have them get the same enjoyment.
