Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , on Pacific Super Cards, June 13th Badd Company vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi A very tensely fought matchup that Badd Company won when Tanaka knocked Fuchi out with a cartwheel kick Brutus Beefcake vs. Jake Roberts Roberts thought he had Beefcake set up for the DDT, but Brutus was playing possum and countered with a backdrop and a bridge that got the one two three. After the match, Roberts and Michael Hayes attacked Beefcake, but Eddie Gilbert charged in and ran them off. Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers Once again, the Playboy Club tormented Dan Spivey until he snapped, savagely pummeling Somers and then pinning him after a crushing side suplex. After the match, Spivey kept stomping down Somers until his partner pulled him off. It was all Rotunda could do to get Spivey calmed down. Leaving the ring, Rotunda was very concerned for his partner. Chris Adams vs. The Great Kabuki Adams ducked under an attempt at a thrust kick and caught Kabuki in a single arm rollup to get the pinfall. Post match, Kendo Nagasaki and Kabuki double teamed Adams until someone leapt into the ring and dropkicked them out. It was the White Angel, returning to save his friend! The crowd cheered as the two embraced in the ring. Eddie Gilbert vs. Michael Hayes Hayes won by DQ when Gilbert threw a huge fireball that hit him straight in the chest, sending Hayes fleeing from the ring. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Jimmy Snuka The match was a no contest when Snuka ambushed Haynes before the match even started and clobbered him in the head with the ring bell. Snuka then battered Haynes and dragged him to the outside before crushing him with a Superfly Splash to the floor. Haynes was taken out on a stretcher while Snuka hooted in the ring. Golden State Tag Title Match : The Thundercats © vs. Brian Knobbs & Jeff Gaylord The newly returned Knobbs and his partner Gaylord put up a surprisingly tough challenge for the champs, but Scorpio pulled out the win by hitting a top rope sunset flip on Knobbs. Even that didn't stop things, as the two teams kept battling after the bell until the PCW officials intervened. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Terry Gordy © vs. Leo Burke First it was Bam Bam Bigelow challenged Gordy for the title, now it is his mentor , Leo Burke's turn to go after the belt. Gordy initially seemed to be taking Burke lightly, but the Canadian legend is a double tough competitor and went after Gordy hard. The momentum of the match swung back and forth, and it looked like Burke just might pull it off when he caught Gordy in the Sleeper hold, but that's when Gordy's allies , Michael Hayes (sporting a large bandage across his hairy chest from the earlier fireball) and Jake Roberts, struck, attacking Burke and leading to a DQ win for Burke. The resulting beatdown was stopped by the arrival of Chris Adams and the White Angel, leading to the Freebirds beating a hasty retreat. Gordy retained the title.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN, June 12th Brian Knobbs & Jeff Gaylord vs. Matt Quinlan & Bill Posley When we last saw Brian Knobbs, he and his partner Jack Victory were sent out of PCW due to a brutal beatdown at the hands of the Playboy Club. Since then, he has spent his time wandering around the Indy circuits while his place in the Vice Squad was taken by Jimmy Golden and Randy Rose. He returns to PCW with no spot waiting for him but with a new partner, big Jeff Gaylord. Gaylord, a muscular former Missouri Tiger, impressed many as he tossed Quinlan and Posley around the ring, and he and Knobbs worked smoothly together in the ring like a natural fit. But Knobbs was clearly looking to work out a lot of frustration as he pummeled his rookie opponents, ultimately taking Posley down hard with a running powerslam followed by a running splash by Gaylord to finish him off. A dominant win, but only time will tell if he and his new partner can carve out a space on their own in Pacific Coast Wrestling. Eddie Gilbert vs. Michael Hayes The hot blooded Gilbert and the passionate Missy are clearly a volatile combination, and the Freebirds have gleefully provided the lit match. While Hyatt International have had the fans solidly behind them, Michael Hayes has managed to goad the tempestuous duo into making some critical errors in their newly sparked feud. Gilbert brought along Brutus Beefcake for additional backup, while Michaels was joined by his running buddy Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Gilbert came out guns a-blazing, opening up with lefts and rights on the rapidly backpedaling Hayes, so much so that the ref repeatedly threatened him with disqualification. Hayes took advantage of this, goading Gilbert into making several mistakes in the match. He eventually went for his go to move by having Roberts go over to start harassing Missy, causing Beefcake to interpose himself between the two. Gilbert started to jaw with Roberts, and that was when Hayes struck, catching him from behind with a rollup. But Gilbert was waiting with a trap of his own, reversing the rollup assisted by a fistful of tights and getting the one two three. Hayes and Roberts were outraged, but Missy and her boys were jubilant , having put one over on the Freebirds. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Don Muraco Both of these men were coming out looking like they had something to prove, with Bigelow coming off challenging Terry Gordy for the Pacific Heavyweight Title and Muraco was just done with his feud with Ricky Steamboat. These two big men rock and rolled all over the ring, with one then the other briefly holding the advantage in the match. Eventually the action spilled out of the ring with both of them slugging it out until the ref counted them both out. Even that wasn't the end, as the two kept going at it until separated by the PCW officials. Clearly, these two aren't done with each other by a long way. California Title Match : Bob Orton © vs. Keiichi Yamada Both of these men had title matches at Seattle Showdown, with Orton winning the California Title from Tom Zenk while Yamada lost his Light Heavyweight Title to Lanny Poffo. While the big Cowboy towered over the young Japanese star, Yamada was clearly determined not to be intimidated, and had his good friend Tracy Smothers in his corner cheering him on. Yamada used cat and mouse tactics to keep out of Ortons clutches, and got several near falls that got the crowd up and cheering. But the Kansas City veteran bided his time, and eventually caught Yamada coming off the ropes with a cross body press and countered it with a crushing backbreaker to put an end to his challenge. He looked like he was going to try to get a few more shots on Yamada after the match, but Smothers intervened and bumped chests with Orton until the situation was calmed down. It looks like the Wild Eyed Southern Boy might be making his own run at the champ. Mike Rotunda, Dan Spivey & Tom Zenk vs. The Playboy Club Speaking of Tom Zenk, last week, the former California champ started his comeback by beating Doug Somers. This time out, Somers brought along his cronies in the Playboy Club to try to get some revenge. That said, the Club were somewhat reluctant to face off with Zenk, instead tagging in and out until Dan Spivey entered the match. Strange that they would instead go for the big Georgia Bulldog, but a few nasty cheap shots and blindsides led to the Playboy Club working over Spivey. They kept him trapped in their own corner of the ring, deftly foiling every attempt he made to tag out. Being caught in the corner and pummeled by Rose and held down by Somers and Wiskowski eventually pushed Spivey over the edge, and the popular Brigadier snapped. He whipped Rose hard into the other corner and started brutally stomping him down, backhanding Wiskowski and Somers when they tried to intervene. The ref tried to break it up, but Spivey knocked him to the mat, leading to a disqualification. It fell to his shocked partners to try to calm him down, while Rose was heard to scream, "That guy is a Psycho!" , as he and the rest of the Playboy Club fled the ring in terror.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Kelowna Memorial Arena, Kelowna, June 7th Al Perez vs. Buddy Jack Roberts A hard fought match where Perez prevailed by pulling out the German Suplex Badd Company vs. The Untouchables Badd Company looked on a number of occasions like they might just get the win over their much bigger opponents , but in the end it was a lightning quick Front Kick Of Fear by the Barbarian the got the victory for the Untouchables Billy Jack Haynes vs. Jimmy Snuka An incredibly violent match between the two, where Snuka really tore into Haynes, and Billy Jack fought back for all he was worth. Snuka caught Haynes in a sunset flip out of the corner, only for Billy Jack to block it and just barely keep the Superfly's shoulders down for the one two three. Even after the match, Snuka still wanted to go after Haynes. Chavo Guerrero vs. The Great Kabuki Kabuki won with the thrust kick to the jaw Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Don Muraco A battle of the big men that ended in a double countout with both wrestlers brawling outside the ring Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Norman Smiley & Too Cold Scorpio © vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi A very tensely contested rematch with Scorpio getting the win over Fuchi with the Scorpio Splash California Title Match : Bob Orton © vs. Tracey Smothers "The Wild Eyed Southern Boy" went all out against the Cowboy, catching Orton off guard with his relentless attack. The result was an epic battle where the Ace ultimately prevailed by pinning Smothers after a lariat. Orton grudgingly shook Smothers' hand after the match in a show of respect.

Can't wait to see what the Von Erichs do in the WWF. Love mixing their debut with the Pizza Inn commercial The Gentleman's Club is amazing as always. The escalation of Sarge vs. Sheikh 85 is riveting stuff.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on Pacific Super Cards, June 6th No DQ, No Countout, Losing Team Leaves Town Match : Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey vs. The Royal Family The Royal Family continued their tactics from the previous night, attacking and working over Spivey while keeping Rotunda out of the ring. No matter how hard the young men of the Brigade tried, they could not make the tag. Eventually, something in Spivey snapped, and he made a fiery comeback, knocking both of the Royal Family around the ring. He sent Morgan out of the ring with a clothesline, then started destroying Boyd with huge power moves. As Mike Rotunda and Rip Morgan battled at ringside, Spivey locked Jonathan Boyd in a nasty Sleeper hold until Boyd passed out. Even then, Spivey refused to release the hold until Rotunda talked him down. The Brigade won the match and the Royal Family are now out of Pacific Coast Wrestling. Norman Smiley vs. Jimmy Golden Golden won with a piledriver. Flamboyance vs. Hector & Mando Guerrero An exciting and tightly contested bout that went to a 20 minute time limit draw. Chris Adams vs. Kendo Nagasaki Adams got the victory with a Superkick Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Bill Dundee & Larry Cameron © vs. Ragin' & Ravishing Dundee came in wearing a neck collar and was clearly still injured from the previous night's attack by the Vice Squad. Fernandez and Rude ruthlessly went after him, focusing much of their attacks on his damaged neck. Dundee put in a valiant effort, but when Rude executed the Rude Awakening on him, it was all over. Ragin' & Ravishing are the new Pacific Tag Team Champions. Pacific Television Title Rematch : Texas Red © vs. Terry Taylor Texas Red hit the chokeslam to successfully defend his title. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Terry Gordy © vs. "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell A battle of super heavyweights that looked like it just might break the ring. Blackwell went after Gordy hard, with the Freebird champ resorting to cheap tactics when Michael Hayes pulled down the top rope, causing Blackwell to fall to ringside. Gordy won by countout.

Very fun Southern styled TV show. Master G and Gerry Morrow are guys I have used in the past and I'm glad to see you are putting them to such good use. Love the Battens as Anglophile traitors! Predicting big things ahead for Mr. Wonderful.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , June 5th Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey vs. The Royal Family For all that they started strong, the young men of the Brigade have fallen on hard times of late. While Al Perez has managed to pull out some impressive wins, Tom Zenk's loss of the California Title and Rotunda and Spivey coming out at the short end of several tag matches has been representative of their fortunes reaching an all time low. Rotunda and Spivey were hoping to turn things around in the match against the Royal Family, themselves coming off a loss at Seattle Showdown. But the rough and rowdy men from the Pacific Commonwealth were clearly determined not to be anyone's stepping stone, and went at it hard against the Brigadiers. They focused much of their attention on Dan Spivey, battering the former Georgia Bulldog hard and keeping him trapped in their corner in their corner. Every time it looked like he might be able to tag in his partner, the Royal Family found some way to distract the ref and cause the tag to be disallowed. Rotunda finally had enough, and charged in to rescue his partner. When the ref tried to intercede, he found himself shoved aside by both teams. The match ultimately broke down into complete chaos, and the referee had no choice but to throw out the match as a No Contest. What followed was a swift announcement by Commissioner Dutch Savage that he was putting together a match for the next night's show in Victoria, which would not only be a No Countout, No DQ match, but also under Losing Team Leaves Town stipulations. Eddie Gilbert & Brutus Beefcake vs. Michael Hayes & Jake Roberts Of late, Missy Hyatt has found herself the target of some extremely unwanted advances from the Freebirds, in particular Michael PS Hayes. As one could imagine, this hasn't worn at all well with either her or her charges in Hyatt International. As a result, Gilbert and Beefcake took to the ring tonight to defend their beautiful manager's honour from Hayes and his running buddy, Jake "The Snake" Roberts. From the very beginning, Hayes and Roberts let loose with a never ending stream of salty comments and vulgar hip thrusts in Missy's direction, enraging both her and her men. Tempers were running hot throughout this match, but Hayes decided to pour gasoline onto this fire by going over to the ringside area and try to kiss her. The result was both a slap in the face from Missy and Eddie Gilbert jumping off the ring apron and slugging it out with Hayes. This, however, was enough of a distraction for Roberts to sneak in a nasty low blow on Beefcake, followed swiftly by a DDT that got the pinfall. Hayes and Roberts ran off, laughing like hyenas, clearly satisfied with what they had pulled off, but Hyatt International will not likely either forgive or forget what transpired. Tom Zenk vs. Doug Somers Both men were coming off tough title losses at Seattle Showdown, Zenk for the California Title and Somers for the Pacific Tag Team Titles. Somers came out with his Playboy Club cohorts, Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskowski, and clearly had a chip on his shoulder and was looking to take out his frustrations on the handsome young man from Minnesota. Zenk , on the other hand, was decidedly downcast. The loss of the California Title to "Cowboy" Bob Orton has hit him quite hard, and it looked like a fair amount of the wind had gone out of his sails. He seemed about half a step off for the early stages of the match, which led to some loud mockery from the various members of the Playboy Club. Little by little, though, the fire started to come back to Zenk, who slowly regained his determination to not be kept down by the self-proclaimed "Pretty Boy" or his cohorts. Somers started pulling out more dirty tricks, but this only seemed to bring more spark to Zenk, who began firing back with the rapid fire moves that had gained him so many fans. Ultimately, Somers tried to put him away with the Brainbuster, only for Zenk to block it and reverse it into a single arm roll up that managed to get the one-two-three. The Playboy Club were livid and looked to go after Zenk, but the ref interceded and the fans celebrated along with Zenk. It looks like the Z Man is back and on track. Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. Konga The Barbarian Texas Red made the mother of all shocking returns at Seattle Showdown, filling in at the last moment for the injured White Angel to beat Terry Taylor for the Television Title. Since then, the big Texan has wasted no time in defending his belt, determined to prove himself as a fighting champion. First up would be the always dangerous Barbarian, one half of the Untouchables. A tough draw for Texas Red to have as his first challenger, but Red was clearly dead set on proving himself and showing that his championship win was no fluke. The Barbarian blasted him with big shots and clotheslines, and rocked the ring with his trademark power moves, but Texas was not kept down for long, and battled back with his own bone jarring moves. Barbarian tried to take him out by whipping him into the ropes for the Front Kick Of Fear, but Texas caught himself on the ropes and then came roaring back with a mighty Western Lariat that levelled Konga. The ref counted the pinfall and Texas Red prevailed in what looks like could be many title defenses for the man from the Lone Star State. The Thundercats vs. The Great Kabuki , Kendo Nagasaki, Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi All four members of the Thundercats would be involved in this match , and all four men were proudly sporting gold belts, Bill Dundee and Larry Cameron with the Pacific Tag Team Titles, and Too Cold Scorpio and Norman Smiley with the Golden Stag Tag Team Titles. The fans warmly embraced the champions, who gladly shook hands and posed for pictures before the match. Gary Hart's contingent of Japanese veterans looked distinctly less enthused, and immediately went right at it with the Thundercats. The result was an exciting and fast paced match, with the rapid fire combination moves of Scorpio and Smiley mixed with the cunning of Dundee and the power of Cameron clashing with the Strong Style intensity of Hart's stable. But things took a turn for the strange when the Japanese wrestlers started to gang up on Cameron, prompting Scorpio and Smiley to enter the fray. Out of nowhere, three men charged in and yanked Dundee off the ring apron, swarming him. It was the Vice Squad , who gave a vicious beating before administering a brutal double spike Piledriver on the concrete floor. Cameron and Smiley ran out of the ring to chase them off and tend to their fallen comrade, but this left Scorpio open to a thrust kick from Kabuki, giving the win to Gary Hart's stable. The Thundercats had other things on their mind though, as Dundee was very badly hurt. This puts future title defenses for the new champions very much in jeopardy.

Pacific Championship Wrestling Seattle Showdown from the Kingdome, Seattle, shown on ESPN / TSN Pacific Super Cards, May 29th Eddie Gilbert & Brutus Beefcake vs. The Royal Family The pairing of the second generation Southern star and the wrestler formerly known as Eddie Hogan may have seemed like an unlikely duo at first, but under the watchful eye of their manager Missy Hyatt, they have forged into quite a formidable unit. While recently their focus has been on the unwelcome attention Michael Hayes and the Freebirds have paid to Missy Hyatt, which has not gone over at all well with either her or her men, tonight they had to face the rough and ready Royal Family. Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan had been coming off some tough losses and were clearly looking to work out their frustrations on the men of Hyatt International. The rowdy Antipodeans let it all out on Gilbert and Beefcake , blasting them with big lefts and rights as well as some high impact power moves and combinations. But Missy's men weathered the opening assault and were able to regroup, with the "Walking Riot" giving them the encourage and guidance to make a well coordinated comeback, tagging in and out as they chipped away at their aggressive opponents. The Royal Family tried to counter this by double teaming Gilbert, but failed to notice that he was able to tag in Beefcake, who came in and blasted Morgan with the Final Cut. Gilbert tied up Boyd while Beefcake scored the one two three. An impressive win, but time will show if they are ready for their inevitable showdown with the Freebirds. Billy Jack Haynes, Chris Adams & Leo Burke vs. Michael Hayes, Buddy Jack Roberts & Jake "The Snake" Roberts Speaking of the Freebirds, the men from Badstreet have been ruthless in protecting Terry Gordy's Pacific Heavyweight Title reign, swarming anyone who came near challenging him. With Gordy defending his belt against the fast rising newcomer Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event, the remaining members would be squaring off against a trio of Bigelows's friends, who wisely brought out Adams' good friend The White Angel to watch their backs. The Freebirds broke out their usual arsenal of short cuts mixed with double and triple teams, but were still facing an uphill battle against Haynes' power, Adams' jarring kicks and throws, and Burke's deep technical skills. But the match took an incredibly strange turn deep into it when White Angel was ambushed at ringside by four men, who turned out to be Gary Hart's stable. Hito and Fuchi held him while Nagasaki whalloped him with his Kendo stick, but he took the most damage from the Great Kabuki, who blasted him with vicious shots from his nunchaku, bloodying Angel's head and badly bruising his ribs. Burke, who was in the ring at the time with Jake Roberts, was the first to spot what was going on, which was an unfortunate distraction for him. Jake Roberts, seizing the opportunity, grabbed him and nailed the DDT for the win. While the Freebirds cackled at their ill gotten win, Billy Jack rushed in to protect the fallen Burke while Adams chased off the Japanese wrestlers before coming back to tend to his friend. The White Angel was in very bad shape and it wasn't looking good for his shot at Terry Taylor's TV Title later tonight. Falls Count Anywhere Match : Tracy Smothers vs. Ron Starr Coming out of the shadows of their partners' battles for the Light Heavyweight Title, Smothers and Starr have carved their own legacy with a series of spectacular brawls that have kept the fans attention riveted. The two men have exchanged wins in their feud but it all came down tonight in a match that would go all around the arena. The seasoned veteran "Rotten" Ron Starr showed why he is one of them most feared men in wrestling, busting open the proud southerner early on and throwing him hard into every piece of ringside furniture he could find. But Smothers refused to go down and fired back with everything he had. The crowd cheered with every punch he landed on Starr, and he landed a lot of punches. The two were battling it out at ringside when Starr tried to take Smothers out with a lariat, only for Smothers to duck and flip Starr over the ringside barricade, sending him hard onto the concrete. Then, heroically drawing on his last reserves of energy, Smothers climbed up to the top rope and went sailing into the audience area, hitting Starr with the Jawjacker in one of the most spectacular moves ever seen in PCW. It was a move that seemed to take almost as much out of Smothers as it did Starr, but Tracy was able to drag himself over and put his arm on Starr to get the three count. It quite a toll on him, but The Wild Eyed Southern Boy has truly arrived. Ultimate Showdown : Ricky Steamboat vs. Don Muraco The Magnificent one made his debut with a brutal attack on the Dragon, and these two have waged a brutal war ever since. The Hawaiian superstars have swapped wins throughout their feud, with neither man holding the advantage for long, but word has come that this would be their final battle, with the ultimate bragging rights on the line. Steamboat came out all fire and fury, lacing into Muraco with blistering chops and kicks. But Muraco bided his time and came back hard, with a massive clothesline followed up by some crushing slams. The two gladiators had an epic battle, with first one man holding the advantage then the other. Muraco was finally able to wear down Steamboat and was holding him up to level him with a big clothesline , but Steamboat ducked under it and countered with a go behind, pinning both Muraco's arms behind his back. Steamboat then gave a tremendous show of strength by lifting up the huge Muraco in a Tiger Suplex. One … two … THREE!!!! The Dragon was triumphant in this classic contest. California Title Match : Tom Zenk © vs. "Cowboy" Bob Orton In the first title match of the night, young Tom Zenk would be defending his California Title against the Ace of the Crazy Gang. Since winning the title in a tournament, Zenk has taken on all comers and has prevailed in a sterling title reign. But he was coming in after taking a lot of damage from a defence against "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, and was clearly not at 100%. Regardless, he was determined to compete and gave it his best. He went at Orton with a lot of fast moves, and for a while, looked like he just might pull it off. But the Cowboy was patient and waited for his chance, which came when he caught Zenk going for a running cross body press and countered it with a big backbreaker. After that, Orton seemed to take sadistic glee in working over the champ, breaking down the already damaged wrestler with jarring moves. Zenk was able to catch his second win and started to come back, looking for a moment like he would prevail when he went up top for his Missile Dropkick. But Orton was only playing possum, and ducked out of the way with ease while Zenk landed hard on the mat. Orton hit Zenk hard in the head with an elbow drop before picking him up, hoisting him on the top turnbuckle and then mercilessly executing the Superples. The three count was academic and, sadly, the title reign of Zenk was now done as Orton put the California Title Belt around his own waist. No Countout, No DQ Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. The White Angel Terry Taylor came out with his usual insufferable smugness evident, and in the case, one could hardly blame him. PCW Commissioner Dutch Savage came out and delivered the news that, due to the damage done by the early attack from Gary Hart's stable, The White Angel was in no condition to compete and would not be able to make his title match. Figuring his work was done, Taylor got set to leave, only to be stopped by Savage. The Commish then announce that they had found a wrestler who was not booked in a match tonight to take Angel's place and compete for the TV title. Taylor gave his trademark diffident shrug, clearly not afraid of anyone who couldn't get a booking on the card. His confidence turned to raw panic when "La Grange" by ZZ Top played over the arena PA, heralding the arrival of …. TEXAS RED! The popular Texan had not been seen since losing his challenge to Terry Gordy, and the crowd roared their approval as he made his way to the ring. Taylor clearly wanted no part of him, and attempted to ambush him with the Fivearm the moment he stepped into the ring, but Red cut him off with a big boot to the chest that knocked him to the mat. Red then grabbed him by the throat, hefted him high over head, and then drove him back down again with a crushing Chokeslam. The crowd shouted along with the three count then exploded in cheers as Texas Red became the new Television champion. The fans roared their approval as they now had a Television champ they could all get behind. Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Keiichi Yamada © vs. "Leaping" Lanny Poffo Ever since his arrival in PCW as one half of Flamboyance, Lanny Poffo has been hotly tipped to challenge for Keiichi Yamada's Light Heavyweight title. In both tag team and singles matches, the son of the legendary Angelo Poffo has scored several standout wins and tonight he would get his big shot. His showboating somersaults and backflips might have confused his opponent, but it masked a clever and talented contender who provided a considerable challenge to the popular Japanese champion. The result was a breathtaking, fast paced match, with a lot of give and take between the two wrestlers, plentiful mat wrestling and lots of exciting high flying. Poffo tried to put an end to things with a waistlock for a German Suplex, only for Yamada to dig in and block it, then counter with his own waistlock. However, Poffo swiftly fired back with a backwards low kick that doubled over the champion. A month or so before, Poffo had observed his partner Ron Starr get caught in this very same counter, and Lanny had clearly worked out a follow up to it to use just in case he ended up in the same circumstances. Poffo took down Yamada with a dropkick, then went up top and hit the Skydrop. The ref gave the three count and just like that, Poffo was the new champion. The crowd were somewhat disappointed in the result but at the same time, impressed with what Poffo had pulled off, and the new champion was jubilant, backflipping across the ring before grabbing the title belt. Three Way Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Doug Somers © vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Randy Rose vs. Bill Dundee & Larry Cameron Even though they were waging a war on two fronts, facing challenges from both the Thundercats and their former proteges in the Vice Squad, The Playboy Club has kept an iron grip on their Pacific Tag Titles. Tonight they would face their stiffest challenge yet, going against both teams at the same time. This match would be under elimination rules, with the last team standing getting the titles. The result was predictably chaotic, with the Playboy Club and Vice Squad especially venomous in their exchanges. If the Thundercats were hoping to sneak past unnoticed, both sets of their opponents went after them nearly as hard as they did each other, but the wily veteran Dundee and the tough and powerful Cameron kept persevering and fighting for their chance to win the belts. The match started to break down with all three teams in the ring when the Playboy Club and the Vice Squad set their differences aside to gang up on the Thundercats. This turned out to be a ruse by Buddy Rose, as he caught the unsuspecting Del Ray in a roll up , assisted by a huge fistful of trunks, that got a three count. The Playboy Club found this double cross hilarious, with Buddy Rose mocking the eliminated team by blowing kisses and waving goodbye as they were escorted back to the locker room. A catastrophic choice on the part of the Playboy, as "Lethal" Larry Cameron has recovered enough to blast him with a massive Harlem Hammer (running double axehandle to the back of the head and neck) that sent him flying out of the ring. Cameron then leveled Somers with a big clothesline and, in an impressive display of strength, hefted up Dundee in a military press and dropped him hard onto Somers. A count of three later and the Thundercats had pulled it off, winning the Pacific Tag Title to the clear approval of the cheering fans. Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Terry Gordy © vs. Bam Bam Bigelow This would be the main event that everyone was waiting for, with the dominant Freebird champion defending against one of the most impressive rookies in all of wrestling. Bigelow came to the ring alone, as his mentor Leo Burke was still feeling the effects of the earlier Jake Roberts DDT, while Gordy came out with all of his Freebird brethren . This didn't do the champ much good, as Dutch Savage immediately made an announcement that the rest of the Freebirds were barred from ringside under penalty of suspension. While the other Freebirds protested before being escorted away, Gordy didn't seem overly fazed, confident that he could handle this challenge on his own. He was soon caught off guard when Bigelow charged right after him and took him down with some big suplexes. The New Jersey fireball briefly celebrated with a quick cartwheel that got a pop from the fans, but was soon back to business and tore into Gordy. He may have been missing the presence of Leo Burke, but Bigelow had clearly learned well from his lessons, at times looking like he was going for the Slingshot Splash or the Nuclear Splash, only to stop himself when he realized that Gordy was luring him into a trap. Regardless, the champion was not kept down for long, and soon began laying into the Beast From The East with his own big moves. At one point, it looked like Gordy would be able to put him out with the Asiatic Spike, but Bigelow fought like a wildcat and was able to prevent the hold being administered. The two behemoths battled back and forth, looking at some points like they might just break the ring. Then Bigelow whipped Gordy hard into the corner and charged in for an avalanche, only for Gordy to duck out of the way at the last second and send Bigelow crashing chest first into the turnbuckle. Gordy then took him down hard with a mighty lariat, then went up to the second turnbuckle and dropped a crushing kneedrop onto Bigelow's sternum. The ref made the count and it was all over. Gordy had faced the biggest challenge to his title yet and prevailed in this Battle Of The Bam(m) Bam(m)s.

Pacific Coast Wrestling Show from the UCSB Event Center, Santa Barbara, May 24th Flamboyance vs. Keiichi Yamada & Tracy Smothers Flamboyance won when Poffo hit the Skydrop on Smothers Al Perez vs. Rip Morgan Perez was able to pull out the win when he caught the big Morgan in a German Suplex The Guerreros vs. The Vice Squad An exciting 6 man tag that the Vice Squad won after a spike piledriver on Mando Billy Jack Haynes vs. Kendo Nagasaki Another hard hitting contest for Billy Jack where he ultimately was able to get Kendo to give up to the Full Nelson Ragin' & Ravishing vs. Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey Rude pinned Spivey after hitting the Rude Awakening Bill Dundee, Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley vs. Eddie Gilbert & Badd Company An incredibly exciting bout between two teams of fan favorites that had the crowd on their feet throughout the match. At different points, it looked like either side could take the win, but ultimately it went to a 30 minute time limit draw. After the match, both teams shook hands with each other. Ricky Steamboat vs. Grizzly Boone In his last match before facing Don Muraco at Seattle Showdown next week, Steamboat faced off with another of Sheikh Kaissie's men, the big and terrifying Grizzly. Boone gave Steamboat quite a pounding with big power moves and brawling, but Steamboat was able to rally and come back with the Flying Cross Body Press to just barely pull out the victory.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, on ESPN / TSN Pacific Super Cards, May 23rd The White Angel vs. Jonathan Boyd Angel won with a Moonsault Mike Rotunda vs. Bob Orton A tightly contested bout that ended when Orton pinned Rotunda after a lariat Badd Company vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi A fast paced and exciting match that Badd Company won after Diamond caught Fuchi in a flying reverse cross body press Crusher Blackwell & Nord The Barbarian vs. The Untouchables A crazy brawl that ended in a no contest when the ref completely lost control of the bout California Title Match : Tom Zenk © vs. Jimmy Snuka Snuka went after Zenk hard, viciously battering the champ throughout the match. Zenk did all he could to fight back, but the Superfly was relentless. It looked like it was all over when Snuka went up top for the Superfly Splash, but Zenk was able to roll out of the way at the last moment and Snuka crashed hard into the mat. Zenk was able to catch Snuka in a double leg rollup and barely get the one two three. Zenk was clearly in a lot of pain after this match. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Doug Somers © vs. Bill Dundee & Larry Cameron The Playboy Club pulled out a dirty win when Somers jacked Dundee in the back of the head with a loaded elbow pad. The Freebirds vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, Leo Burke, Chris Adams & Billy Jack Haynes Eddie Gilbert and Brutus Beefcake came out and provided a sufficient distraction to Michael Hayes that set him up for a belly to belly suplex by Bigelow for the pinfall.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, May 22nd Jimmy Golden vs. Mark Caruso Jimmy Golden first made his Pacific Coast debut a couple of weeks ago in a six man tag match, but this would be his first singles match. He had both of his Vice Squad partners, Randy Rose and Jimmy Del Ray, I his corner for this match , and the rookie Caruso was quire wary of locking up with him. A wise move that did him no good, as Golden immediately caught him flat footed with a right cross that sent him straight to the mat. Caruso was completely unconscious, so Golden simply put his foot on his chest and had the ref count to three. But this was not enough for the third generation wrestler, as he dragged Caruso up from the mat, only to drive him back down with a post-match piledriver, to the raucous laughter of his partners. Bad news for the Pacific Coast roster, as it looks like where the previous version of the Vice Squad was cocky, the new one is downright sadistic. Leo Burke vs. Jake Roberts Jake Roberts has long been one of the most dangerous wrestlers to grace the ring, but his joining with the Freebirds has proved to be a match made from people's nightmares. His new running buddy Michael Hayes was at ringside and provided a steady stream of trash talk as Roberts took on the tough as nails veteran Leo Burke. Burke, who would be facing the Freebirds at Seattle Showdown along with Chris Adams and Billy Jack Haynes, did his best to shut it all out and keep focused on the Snake, but Roberts kept digging into his bag of dirty tricks to keep the advantage in his corner. But the match would take a strange turn as Eddie Gilbert and Brutus Beefcake made their way to ringside. Gilbert lost a match last week to Buddy Jack Roberts after Roberts and Hayes made unwanted advances on his manager, Missy Hyatt, and was clearly looking to air his grievances. He and Beefcake started jawing with Hayes, and then started arguing with the Snake. Roberts found this all quite amusing, casually tossing out insults to Gilbert and Beefcake, but he should have paid closer attention to the match, as the wily Burke took advantage of the distraction by catching Roberts in a belly to back suplex that got a quick one two three. The furious Roberts and Hayes chased after the cackling Gilbert and Beefcake, who high tailed it back to the locker room. Badd Company vs. Ragin' & Ravishing While a lot of attention has been paid to Missy Hyatt's association with Eddie Gilbert and Brutus Beefcake of late, she is equally dedicated to her young tag team of Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond. They had a very tightly contested match with the fast rising team or Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude. Ragin' & Ravishing were backed up by their Crazy Gang partner Bob Orton, who wisely chose to ignore Hyatt and just kept his focus on giving advice to his men. The result was a very fast paced bout with the speed and flash of Badd Company matched by the hard hitting ruthlessness of Ragin' & Ravishing. The end came when Tanaka didn't catch a blind tag by Fernandez and leapfrogged the Ragin' Bull, only to run right into a lariat by Rude. One Rude Awakening later, and the win went to the men of the Crazy Gang. A tough loss, but Badd Company still impressed. Bill Dundee & Larry Cameron vs. The Royal Family Dundee and Cameron are gearing up for a big 3 way match for the Pacific Tag Team Titles at Seattle Showdown in a week, but first would have to get past the intimidating Royal Family. Dundee looked to run his fellow Antipodeans ragged, ducking and dodging Boyd and Morgan throughout the match, before ultimately bringing in the big gun of "Lethal" Larry Cameron, who started levelling the exhausted Royals with mighty power moves, finally taking down Boyd with the Harlem Hammer. The Playboy Club may be focused on putting down the upstart Vice Squad, but they would be ignoring the Thundercats contingent at their peril. Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. The White Angel Terry Taylor has been TV Champ for what seems like forever , but of lately , he has been holding onto it by the skin of his teeth, doing anything to keep from a title loss. He clearly wanted no part of the mysterious Japanese superstars, almost running out of the ring when he opened up with a series of windmill kicks. Taylor was in full retreat for the entirety of the match as White Angel came at him full bore. He finally went for the lowest tactic imaginable as he came off the ropes and, not even looking at Angel, nailed the ref with the Five Arm. This gave the match to White Angel by DQ, but not the title, and Taylor immediately grabbed the belt and held it close to him. But the bad news was not done with Taylor , as it was announced that the title match with White Angel at Seattle Showdown would be under both No DQ and No Countout stipulations. Taylor looked like he was about to throw a tantrum, but instead pouted and stalked back to the locker room. How will he get out of this predicament?

So much good stuff! Great way to have Studd debut ... if a trophy is won in wrestling, you know it is going to be broken over someone. The Martel-St. Clair match would have had my money, and a big shock finish. Mr. Wonderful makes his debut! Can't wait to see where he goes from here. Main event finish was perfect, I am sure the Texas fans went nuts for their boy winning the big belt.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, May 15th The Untouchables vs. Jimmy Tarantino & Tyrone Davis The announcement of this match got some people scratching their heads, as the recent loss by Steve Strong in a Loser Leaves Town Match seemed to put an end to the Untouchables. All became clear when Konga The Barbarian came out with his new partner, one Grizzly Boone. Tarantino and Davis were clearly wishing that the Untouchables had truly dissolved, as the result was what could basically be called a bear mauling. The huge, powerful Boone tore the two rookies apart, combining with Konga on some brutal power moves before crushing Tarantino in a mighty Bear Hug until he was unconscious. Sheikh Adnan Al Kaissie is always thinking several steps ahead, and his scary new recruit will certainly help him make the moves he needs to make. Bill Dundee vs. Buddy Rose While the Playboy Club have had much of their attention occupied by their former proteges in the Vice Squad, they also have been facing a stiff challenge for their Pacific Tag Team Titles from the Thundercats, represented by Bill Dundee and Larry Cameron. In this singles match, Dundee was backed up by Cameron, while Rose had both Doug Somers and Ed Wiskowski in his corner. The powerful Cameron certainly wasn't intimidated by the greater numbers, and Dundee paid it no mind at all, as he frustrated the Playboy with his hit and run tactics. No matter what Rose did to try to put down Dundee, the Australian firecracker came back again and again to torment him. Unfortunately, just as the match was starting to get really cooking, all three members of the Vice Squad charged out and attacked both sides. A three way brawl erupted that led to a no contest decision for the match and was only quelled by the full security force coming out. Once things were calmed down, it was announced that , at Seattle Showdown, there would be a Three Way Elimination Style match for the Tag Team Titles, between Rose & Somers, Dundee & Cameron, and Del Ray & Randy Rose, with all other members of their respective groups banned from ringside. Eddie Gilbert vs. Buddy Jack Roberts Both Hotstuff and the Freebird were having a tightly contested bout, but this wound up being overshadowed by the sideshow at ringside. Part way through the match, Michael PS Hayes and Jake "The Snake" Roberts showed up at ringside, with Hayes leering at Missy Hyatt while Roberts cackled behind him. Brutus Beefcake came out to interpose himself between his manager and the Freebirds, but this didn't scare off the Freebirds, who taunted Beefcake while catcalling the infuriated Hyatt. When Gilbert noticed what was going on, he turned to shout at the Freebirds. This proved enough of a distraction for Buddy Jack to take advantage of it, catching Gilbert in a rollup assisted by a fistful of tights that got a quick one-two-three. Gilbert seemed less concerned by the loss as the insult to his manager, as he rushed out to ringside. There was a shoving match between Gilbert & Beefcake and the Freebirds that was eventually broken up by the PCW officials. Al Perez vs. Bob Orton Last week, Orton made some big promises to the rest of the Crazy Gang, saying that there would be title shots and gold in their ranks. He has since stated his intentions to take the California Title from Tom Zenk. This week, he would be facing Zenk's partner in the Brigade, Al Perez. The Latin Heartthrob was clearly intent on not being anyone's stepping stone, and put up a ferocious battle for the Ace. Perez used his technical skills to keep Cowboy Bob at bay, but Orton always seemed to know how to pull out one trick after the other to regain the advantage. Perez tried hard to get Orton in a single arm takedown to set up the Japanese Armbar, but Orton blocked it and leveled him with a lariat. Orton then hoisted Perez onto the top turnbuckle and executed the Superplex for the pinfall. An impressive victory for the Cowboy, and after the match, it was announced that there would be a title match at Seattle Showdown between Orton and Tom Zenk. Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi © vs. The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) These two teams have had some epic matches on house shows, so there was a lot of anticipation for this big title match . The Thundercats have youth and enthusiasm on their side, but the cunning Japanese veterans have a wealth of experience and have thus far kept an iron grip on the titles. The Thundercats came out full throttle, with lots of double team moves and high flying that sent the champions reeling. Hito and Fuchi bided their time and waited for their opportunity, which came when Fuchi lured Scorpio into a top rope move that Fuchi dodged, with Scorpio hitting the mat hard. Fuchi then mercilessly went after Scorpio's hurt leg, stretching it with nasty submission holds and coming down on it with hard kneedrops. He and Hito worked over Scorpio for a while, blocking his attempts to tag in his partner. He did finally manage to tag in Norman Smiley, and while the young Englishman kept the champs at bay with his canny counter wrestling skills, it would be only a matter of time before the numbers disadvantage caught up with him. The champs ultimately resorted to double teaming him, but they failed to notice that he had made a blind tag on Scorpio. Hito was trying to get up Smiley in a backdrop driver, while Scorpio ascended to the top turnbuckle. Smiley blocked the driver and tied up Hito, and while his leg was clearly wobbly, Scorpio was able to come off the top with a flying sunset flip on Fuchi. One … two …. THREE!!!! The Thundercats had finally won the Golden State Tag Team Titles! Bill Dundee and Larry Cameron rushed out to congratulate their teammates, and the crowd loudly cheered the new champions as they held the belts above their heads.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , May 8th The Playboy Club vs. The Vice Squad In what seems to be a recurring motif in Pacific Coast Wrestling, a lone man would be coming out alone to face superior numbers after losing his partners the previous week. In this case, Jimmy Del Ray was the last man standing of the Vice Squad after Brian Knobs and Jack Victory were brutalized at the hands of the Playboy Club. Whatever Buddy Rose and his men might have been expecting, it certainly didn't seem to be what followed, as Jimmy Del Ray came out and declared the beginning of the new Vice Squad, and two lanky men with mustaches followed him out, introduced as Jimmy Golden and "Ravishing" Randy Rose. The Playboy Club didn't seem too impressed at first, but that proved a costly mistake, as these Southerners weren't rookies like Knobs and Victory, but seasoned veterans who instantly gelled as a team with Del Ray like a hand fits a glove. Golden was a rangy Tennessean with knuckles like pig iron, shown when his punches were able to knock the huge "Polish Prince" all over the ring. Randy Rose may have had an unconventional look, but clearly knew every dirty trick in the book, as well as being an accomplished tag wrestler, shown in some swift, effective double teams with Jimmy Del Ray. It was such a move, a running elbow smash on Somers into a belly to back suplex by Del Ray, that led to the win by the new Vice Squad. The Playboy Club might have thought they had gotten the Vice Squad out of their hair, but they are clearly back with a vengeance. Brutus Beefcake vs. The Great Kabuki Beefcake has increasingly come into his own with some victories over Kendo Nagasaki, but has had a hard time getting past the Japanese veteran Kabuki. Kabuki was clearly determined to maintain this advantage as he viciously attacked Beefcake's arm, wrenching it with nerve locks that neutralized the sleeper hold. Beefcake had Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert in his corner to cheer him on, but it was tough going for the man from San Francisco. Beefcake showed a lot of determination as he was able to power his way out of a lot of painful holds and battle his way back. It looked like it would be all for naught when Kabuki whipped him into the ropes for the Thrust Kick, but Beefcake was able to catch himself on the ropes, in spite of the pain it caused his worked over arm, and came roaring back with the Final Cut (running knee pat). Three counts later and Beefcake had pulled out a hard fought and impressive victory. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Folks, this is a bit unusual, my next guests requested some time on the show to discuss their issues in an open forum … The Crazy Gang. The crowd loudly boos at the Crazy Gang as they make their way to the ring, but they don't seem to take any notice. Bob Orton, Jimmy Snuka, Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez all have deep scowls on their faces and seem preoccupied as they enter the ring. Frank Bonnema, sensing his presence is not required, hands the mic over to Orton and leaves the ring. Orton : I called this meeting to try to clear the air. I get the sense that there is some dissatisfaction among the members of the Crazy Gang, so I am going to give everyone a chance to speak their piece. Rude and Fernandez look at each other, and Fernandez shrugs and lets Rude take the lead. Rude : Well, in the first place, I want to know where you get off in calling a meeting in the first place. Who died and left you in charge? We formed the Crazy Gang with Dave Schultz, not you. Schultz was the one who brought you in, and when he was sent out of PCW, you took it on yourself to bring in Jimmy Snuka as a replacement. What makes you think you can come in and give orders to the rest of us. Orton : Now, all that is fair. I don't want people to think I am giving orders. But while, David Schultz, God bless him, was the toughest SOB I have ever known, he had no plan. He was picking fights with anyone who crossed his path. He had you guys spinning your wheels in opening matches with the Guerreros, when you should have been getting title shots. I have a plan. I have gotten my revenge on the Royal Family and that has given us the capital to start getting us where we need to go. I will get you guys title shots. I will get Snuka the headlining matches he deserves. I will make the Crazy Gang the most feared group in the whole of PCW. Fernandez : Well, that is easy for you to say. But why should we believe you when you could be just blowing smoke. Orton : I see where you are coming from, so I will put my money where my mouth is. I guarantee that, within a month, I will get you guys a title shot, and there will be gold in the ranks of the Crazy Gang. And if that doesn't happen, I will walk away, both from the Crazy Gang and PCW. So who is with me? (Holding out his hand.) Snuka puts his hand on top of his and, after looking again at each other, Rude and Fernandez put their hands in as a show of solidarity. Nord The Barbarian vs. Konga The Barbarian No prizes for guessing that this match went to pieces before it even got started. The two Barbarians tore into each other without even waiting for the bell to be rung, and when the ref tried to get some semblance of control over the match, he was rewarded for his efforts by a huge punch from both of the combatants, sending him flying. The no contest result didn't stop them from going after each other and it took the entire security crew to finally get them separated. The Freebirds vs. Billy Jack Haynes, Bam Bam Bigelow & Chris Adams On last week's show, Bam Bam made such a big impression against the Freebirds that he was granted a title shot against Terry Gordy at Seattle Showdown. This time out, the Freebirds seemed actively afraid of Bigelow, doing anything to avoid getting in the ring with him. This didn't do them much good, as he partners were, if anything, just as keen to get their shots in on the men from Badstreet. Both Adams and Haynes hit the Freebirds hard and fast, and seemed to relish their expressions when they brought Bam Bam in for some double teams. Haynes was laying in some big haymakers on Hayes when he went for a lariat, only for Buddy Jack to pull down the top rope, sending Billy Jack spilling to the outside. It was then that the match took a strange turn. A man suddenly jumped out of the audience and attacked Haynes. It was Jake Roberts! The Snake had not been seen since he walked out on his former partner Terry Taylor over a month ago. Jake grabbed Haynes and drilled him into the concrete with a vicious DDT. Billy Jack was clearly knocked cold and could not make it back to the ring, leading to a countout win for the Freebirds. After the match, Jake got in the ring and celebrated, and it was clear that he had now joined the ranks of the Freebirds. Impossible as it seems, the Freebirds have now become even more dangerous.

AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Kelowna Memorial Arena, Kelowna, May 3rd Mike Rotunda & Dan Spivey vs. The Royal Family Spivey pinned Boyd after hitting the Spivey Bomber Falls Count Anywhere Match : Tracy Smothers vs. Ron Starr A wild match that went all over the arena until Starr executed a piledriver on Smothers in the concession area to finally get the victory Al Perez vs. Masanobu Fuchi A technical matchup that went to a duel of submission holds where Perez was finally able to trap Fuchi in the Japanese Armbar for the win Badd Company vs. Ragin' & Ravishing Rick Rude hit the Rude Awakening on Tanaka to score the pinfall Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Keiichi Yamada © vs. Jimmy Del Ray Del Ray looked like he might pull out the win on a number of occasions but Yamada ultimately prevailed with the running palm thrust California Title Match : Tom Zenk © vs. Bob Orton Orton knocked Zenk out of the ring with a lariat and the two continued brawling at ringside until they were both counted out Ricky Steamboat vs. Don Muraco Both men went all out in a lengthy battle where Steamboat hit a sunset flip out of the corner and hold Muraco's shoulders to the mat just long enough for a three count Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Doug Somers © vs. Bill Dundee & Larry Cameron Dundee and Cameron put in a valiant effort but ultimately Somers was able to execute the Brainbuster on Dundee to successfully retain their titles.
