It sounds like Silver King is ripping off The Rock in his delivery when he refers to himself and Dandy as “Latin America’s most desirable men!” Lopez comes out on the wrong end of a shoulder tackle, stumbling backwards out and through the ropes. It looks like Lucha rules may very well be in operation here as that brings Rogers in without a tag. Lopez trips King from the outside though he avoids the Rogers elbow drop. Lateral press after the snap mare, Lopez with a slingshot senton but King is too quick for both, moving out the way as he lands on his own partner. Dandy is in, however Lopez and Rogers counter what they had planned, shooting Los Fabulosos into one another. They whip Dandy at King who backdrops him over the top rope and to the floor. Lopez charges a Silver King and he gets the same treatment, although with him landing on Dandy it’s almost like an assisted pescado. A great powerslam by Rogers and Dandy breaks up the pin. In the completely random moment on the match, we then see Lash LaRoux in the aisle drawing pictures on an easel. Silver King reverses the Irish whip and Dandy nails Lopez with a lariat from the apron. Standing side kick by King followed by a slingshot elbow drop from Dandy. Double leap frog, double drop toe hold, stereo kicks to the front and back of the head and Rogers is in for the save. Springboard leg whip in the corner. King drags Lopez under the bottom rope and a double press slam by Los Fabulosos, dropping Lopez throat first across the guard rail. Single armed DDT but King then misses connecting on the double jump springboard moonsault. I don’t know what went on here, if Dandy was late or they just got their cues wrong, but they screw up the timing on the hot tag. To be fair if they hadn’t have repeated it moments later you wouldn’t have know because Dandy carries on as normal, open handing both Lopez and Rogers hard across the face. Los Fabulosos whip Lopez into the corner, he avoids a charging Dandy, clothesline to Silver King and this time, the hot tag. Needless to say Tommy Roger is a great hot tag. King hip tosses Rogers over the ropes to the floor, sailing out with him. Crossbody off the top by Lopez but as he looks to take advantage runs straight into a drop toe hold. ‘Magistral cradle’ and a rare WCW victory for Los Fabulosos. I watched this off the back of El-P’s write up in the ‘Highway to Hell’ thread and am glad that I did. One whiff aside, this was a blast. Double team moves, high octane pace, no down time, bumping, flying and all kinds of fun.

Eight years ago these two were on opposite sides main eventing WCW PPVs, here they are now not even main eventing a WCW C-Show. A fair bit of stalling going on to begin with, almost as if neither is that arsed. Eaton backs Rhodes into the corner and drills him with a quality right hand before throwing him through the ropes to the outside. When he follows him out, Dustin gets the jump on him though and hip tosses him on the floor. Running lariat as Bobby takes a second bump on the ringside mats. Back inside, Rhodes straddles Eaton on the middle turnbuckle and kicks him between the legs. Bulldog and this one is over already. Eaton still throws a lovely worked punch and kudos for taking completely unnecessary hip tosses on the outside for a nothing match like this. 1992 this ain’t though!

Action Jackson is the WWA World Heavyweight champion, while Bobo is a member of a group called the IWO, one of the lowest rent NWO rip offs I’ve seen. Big running boot to the face by Jackson, who I thought had alopecia but has in fact just got ‘#1’ shaved into his head. The commentators make mention of Iceman Parsons in this promotion and it would’ve been cool to see him in 2000. Big splash for our first two count of the match. Jackson works on Bobo’s arm and after a dropkick he rolls under the bottom rope to the floor for a chat with his second. The figure four is reversed, reversed, reversed and reversed until they’re in the ropes and the official breaks the hold. Bobo takes advantage of the damage to Jackson’s leg during the reversal, digging an elbow into the knee and kicking away at his hamstring. Jackson powers out of the Boston crab, but Bobo is back stomping that knee. He starts to fire back and has completely forgotten about selling that leg. Single leg crab by Jackson. Bodyslam, however he misses a fist drop, punching the mat. ‘Avalanche splash’ in the corner leading to one of the commentators yelling out “Who’s your daddy!”. Bobo rakes Jackson across the eyes but he then telegraphs a backdrop as the champion small packages him to retain the gold. The IWO (including Iceman Parsons) jump Jackson after the match and get in a few licks until Al Jackson and some reinforcements run them off. There is a definite sense of the 1980s when it comes to WWA Texas, almost as if the promotion is a throwback to that era. Then again, when the likes of Iceman Parsons, Johnny Mantell, Action Jackson who’re all from that period are your company staples, I suppose you should expect it. Basic stuff (I can’t imagine too many federations where the World champion retains his title with a small package), but nowhere near as bad I thought going in and the sparse looking crowd makes some good noise so are clearly into what they’re seeing. Commentary is the pits mind.

[2000-09-16-NWA Wildside] A.J. Styles & Onyx vs Boogaloo Crew
GSR replied to soup23's topic in September 2000
The NWA Elite try another combination in their quest to add the Wildside tag team titles to their stables. Fun opening involving Styles, Onyx and Dazz, almost like this is as three way dance as opposed to a tag match. A.J. bumps big for Wrenn but manages to avoid a running clothesline, pulling down the top rope in the process as Scotty sails over it to the outside. A springboard crossbody by Styles is the start of a dive train, culminating with a recovered Wrenn plancha onto the other three. I don’t know if I’d be overly willing to break the fall of a flying Scotty Wrenn! The Elite with a double suplex on the wooden floor to Dazz before dumping Wrenn into the front row as the action spills into the crowd. Dazz has recovered and a crazy dive off the ring post into the audience. The crowd loved that and there’s a great atmosphere here with them super behind the Boogaloo Crew. Styles continues to bump and fly around tremendously for their offense. A blind tag catches Dazz off guard and he runs into an Onyx powerslam. Inverted atomic drop followed by a superkick. Slingshot senton by A.J. just as we go to our SECOND commercial break of the match!!! It looks like Dazz has taken a knock on his elbow as it’s swollen right up, the commentators even mentioning it. Tag to Wrenn who launches the Elite around with ease. Huge release overhead pump handle slam on Styles and a spinebuster for Onyx. Scotty counters the Styles quesadora with a belly to back suplex, Dazz providing the assist. A variation of the ‘Van Daminator’, ‘Boogaloo bounce’ and here is Terry Knight and Jeff G. Bailey interfering for the DQ. The Cole twins are out to assist their fellow members of the NWA Elite and are followed, in order, by Total Destruction (Sean Royal & Rusty Riddle), Shank and Bad Attitude as we have a hot brawl to close out the show. -
