Guest Paul Kersey
I thought of just posting in the "comments" thread, but I wondered if the constant lows of TNA ought to be broken out to their own thread. If there's another TNA or Cageside thread, or this "doesn't warrant," apologies. I wanted to highlight Cageside's piece on Daffney and her legal fight with TNA. This is really pretty shameful stuff, mostly because TNA do make their claims about caring about their workers while trying to get away with things that WWE (or a legit sport, or any large company) would get bad attention for. Abyss may need surgery after getting teeth knocked out by RVD at this week's tapings; I wonder if the company will pay for that. I think the fact that TNA's ratings and houses were about the same for a few years (with the tv product being pretty bad) until they fell off last year shows that wrestling need not necessarily be good to hold an audience. It's not a popular opinion, but I wonder if it makes a difference at this point if Heyman, Bill Watts, Vince Russo, or a 12-year old mark is booking. I really doubt anyone draws boom audiences again, unless we see another wrestling fad. You might be able to build a sustainable national number 2 promotion, but there may be pretty real limits on how big it can get. I don't think this rates a "Vince vs the world" thread analysis, but has ANYONE drawn more than 5000 in the US since WCW & ECW went under? Maybe big one offs? (Ballpark Brawls? ICP projects?) I almost bumped the "porn vs wrestling" thread this weekend too when the story of a Cincy area indy wrestler having AIDS came out. Considering that TNA would be in town (and guaranteed to bleed) it seemed like one of those WCW-like signs from God.
flyonthewall2983
Muchnick linked this on his blog today with the headline "Once Again and For the Record: TNA is worse than WWE", and considering the source that's quite the slap to them. It's quite infuriating, but hopefully as it suggests, the cat is really going to be out of the bag on them once and for all if these lawsuits being filed actually have all the merit we think they do. It's all the more proof that the pressure should be put on that clusterfuck to reorganize itself and become the true alternative to Vince's "Entertainment company". Strummer
This is a peripheral issue to the real problems I guess but the underlying theme of the company is that Vince Russo is obsessed with Vince McMahon and in his warped mind he thinks he can still bring him down. Every angle and every segment is an attempt to one up Vince at being Vince. It's quite pathetic.
Ditch
That troll at Cageside Seats is a piece of work. But thankfully he's more than made up for by the SOLIDNESS of the article.

rovert
Have to big up Cagesideseats this week with two of their articles being retweeted by Stevie Richards, Daffney herself, Irv and two womens wrestling websites - Divadirt and Ringbelles.
