Billy Joe Travis

One of my favorite guys of the Memphis/Texas territory. He's a lot like Buddy Landell where he had some great moments but most of his career was affected by Drugs. His 2 plus year feud with Brian Christopher was one of the few things that was enjoyable in the final years of the Memphis territory. It's a shame he was in jail when SMW was around cause he would have been great there. Share your thoughts about the sweet music man here. I'll recommend to matches later.

Fucking incredibly great wrestler, maybe one of the most underrated of all time. I haven't seen half the USWA as Tim and BJT is still a guy I would feel compelled to rate highly on a personal depth chart. Tremendous theatrical bumper, with a great way of overselling that is both comedic and authentic because it fits his character. I also love this guys punches and kicks. I know that sounds like minimalist fetishism but when he wants to crush someone with purpose he can. His perfomance in that tag match on the Texas Set might have been my favorable individual heel work of anyone on that entire set. And god damn is that Hugo match from PR awesome.

So, is "minimalist fetishism" our next goofy term for this place? Cause I plan on using it in casual conversation from now on.

Oh, and I've only seen a little of Travis and that was just over the past year and he's fucking great. Was he related to the Fullers? Because he looks like he could be Robert Fuller's younger brother. He definitely has some of the same in ring mannerisms.

I am in the exact same boat. I have only seen very little of Billy Joe Travis and I love what I have seen so far. What a discovery. He is awesome, I actually just posted in the 90 set about that video of him and the guitar. That was hilarious. I actually was saying the same thing. His resemblance to the Fuller's is uncanny. What a great addition to the Stud Stable he would have been. I think the Stud Stable is the most underrated/under-appreciated stable in the history of wrestling.

This is what makes PWO so great. A week ago I would never have thought about Billy Joe Travis. Now I want to go digging for all his matches. An amazing find.
