They are given an extra minute from their Raw match and again these two have good chemistry with Benoit attacking the leg and Taker looking better the past couple of weeks since he has returned. The finish here sets up Unforgiven with Kane running in causing the DQ. I liked how Benoit didn’t just accept that and he goes after Kane pissed that he lost his opportunity. Rock gets involved as well and we have our four participants going against each other. *1/2

No Shane O’Mac with ‘the Crippler’, presumably still selling the fall he took at Summerslam.  A number one contender’s match for the WWF World Heavyweight title where you can only gain that contendership by pinfall or submission.  The Undertaker rushes Benoit but ‘the Crippler’ avoids the swinging arm, boots him in the mid-section and immediately takes it to his opponent with his trademark intensity and aggression.  Taker blocks the clothesline and presses Benoit overhead dropping him chest first to the mat.  He misses a charging knee in the corner though, jamming it against the top turnbuckle.  Benoit then goes to town on that knee, kicking away at it, wrenching it and slamming it into the canvas.  As it looks like ‘the Crippler’s’ got this under control he runs into a big boot.  Taker grabs Benoit by the throat for the chokeslam when he’s jumped from behind by Kane.  The referee calls for the bell but, incensed that he has cost him the chance of being the number one contender, Benoit then attacks Kane.  All three slug it out amongst each other and when it looks like ‘the Crippler’ and Kane are starting to work together, The Rock returns the favour from Raw, running out to an incredible reaction and helping Taker clear the ring of both.  The Undertaker wins the match as a result of a disqualification, although we’re no closer to finding out who the number one contender is.
