paul sosnowski
This is in fact, the first ever meeting between these two teams, which was broadcast on Mid South TV on March 10, 1984, episode 235. RnR's just debuted in the territory 3 weeks ago and on their second show, they already got involved in a big angle with Terry Taylor and The Russians. They helped Terry paint Krusher (Darsow) Kruschev because he was a "Pinko Commie" now and doused him with pink paint!!! (More on this later). This is from Irish McNeil's Boys Club in Shreveport, Jim Ross is on commentary. A 22 year old Jim Cornette takes the microphone from Reeser Bowden and starts ranting about this other team calling themselves The Express. "Who are these two goons..? They look like a couple of valley girls, Muffy and Sissy. What can these two boys show to my men?" Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson against Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton for the first time!!! Eaton and Gibson start the match, locking up and exchanging some blows in the corner. Gibson breaks free with a hiptoss and leaps up into a flying headscissors takedown. Tag to Ricky Morton, who immediately jumps on Eaton and delivers a hurricanrana. Jim Cornette riles up the crowd as Dennis Condrey tags in. Condrey hits two shoulder blocks, Morton counters with a hiptoss and a dropkick. The Midnights regroup with Cornette on the outside. Eaton comes back in, double team elbows on Gibson, back bodydrop, Eaton gets a two count. Ricky Morton tags in, cleans house, Condrey is reeling, recovers and hits a double underhook suplex on Morton. Bobby Eaton tags, drops an elbow on Morton, but finds himself in the opposing corner. Gibson and Morton double backdrop him, then hit the double dropkick and Morton goes for the pin. But the Russians (Nikolai Volkoff and Krusher Darsow) run in and attack the Rock and Rolls for the DQ at 3:36. The Midnights hold Gibson as the Russians cut a few locks of Morton's hair before babyfaces Terry Taylor and Magnum TA make the save. This was about as fun as you can get for a TV match that goes less than four minutes!!! Check it out!
