Aired on "WWF Wrestling at the Chase, 2/18/84" Vince & Mean Gene are on commentary. Johnson comes into the match with his head bandaged and already bleeding. The doctor has advised him not to defend the titles here tonight, but he insisted upon it. Adonis & Murdoch attack the champs before the bell, but are sent out of the ring packing. Adonis takes a big bump off the turnbuckle, and the match hasn't even started yet!!! It is very strange to hear Vince calling Johnson, "The Rock". Finally the referee restores some order and the match begins. Adonis & Atlas start off, they tie up and Adonis takes another big bump in the corner and immediately tags to Murdoch. Murdoch brutalizes Atlas with a series of elbows and vicious punches. Atlas hits a big headbutt, and Adonis comes back in. The heels double team Atlas in the corner, Adonis goes to the top rope, but Atlas crotches him and finally makes the tag to Rocky Johnson. Rocky comes in on fire, but Murdoch squares off with him as the bandage comes off Rocky's head, Murdoch works on opening the cut. He throws Johnson to the floor, Adonis rams Rocky's head into the timekeeper's table. Johnson gets back in the ring, but Murdoch whacks him with a chair from the outside as Adonis holds him down and goes for the cover. The ref wants to check Rocky's head, but gets shoved away by the valiant champ. The heels continue to double team, until Adonis hits a huge bulldog out of the corner. Adonis misses a splash, Murdoch back in, multiple punches to Johnson's injured head. Adonis chokes Rocky with the tag rope, as Atlas tries to make the save. Johnson goes for a pin with a sunset flip, but Murdoch runs in and stomps him in the head, and drops an elbow on him. Johnson tries to slam Adonis, but doesn't have the strength to hold him up, Adonis gets a two count. Murdoch and Adonis jump on Johnson and pound away at him, Atlas tries to save again, but is stopped by the referee. Atlas comes in again to stop the villains, finally the referee stops and gets to examine Rocky's head wound and stops the match due to excessive bleeding at 11:12. Johnson & Atlas keep the titles. There is a rematch next month on March 23rd, where supposedly "the match cannot be stopped for blood". Holy fuck this was great. More people need to see this match. Four stars.
