Loss
History of Pro Wrestling #42 (04:35:26) Matches from October 1961-February 1962 JOHNNY GILBERT vs NIKOLAI VOLKOFF (10/20/1961; NWA Chicago; 00:15:22) Again, this is NOT the Nikolai Volkoff from 1970s and 80s WWF. THE CRUSHER vs KARL ENGSTROM (10/20/1961; NWA Chicago; 00:11:20) This and the previous match were shown repeatedly on ESPN’s short-lived Golden Age of Wrestling show. INCA PERUANO & COMTE DA DIADONE vs MICHEL CHARRET & JEAN FRYZIUK (11/10/1961; French Catch; 00:44:44) Diadone (who also worked as Giuseppe Diadone) was a bearded Italian wrestler working an aristocratic gimmick. JEAN DEBUT vs JACK ROUXEL (11/10/1961; French Catch; 00:11:55) Segunda Caida reviews of the above two matches. BOBO BRAZIL vs THE SHEIK (12/01/1961; NWA Upstate; Buffalo Memorial Auditorium; 00:06:01) An early match from one of the most famous feuds in wrestling history and I suppose you could also call it the birth of hardcore wrestling in some ways. ROGER DELAPORTE & ANDRE BOLLET vs GILBERT LEDUC & ROBERT GASTEL (12/14/1961; French Catch; 00:41:40) Segunda Caida review of the match. ANGELO SAVOLDI vs KOSTAS PAPALAZAROS (12/27/1961; Capitol Wrestling; 00:22:43) EL SANTO vs BLACK SHADOW (1961; 00:11:00) EL SANTO vs RENE GUAJARDO (1961; 00:02:11) BOB GEIGEL vs JOHNNY RAMIREZ (1961; NWA Chicago; 00:15:10) MIGUEL PEREZ vs HANS HERMANN (1961; NWA Chicago; 00:12:06) SAM STEAMBOAT vs MIKE SHARPE (1961; NWA Chicago; 00:17:53) We don’t have a lot of Sam Steamboat footage, but there is some occasionally. He is not related to Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat at all; however he was initially billed as being Sam’s nephew because they resembled each other. ANTONINO ROCCA vs CLYDE STEEVES (1961; WCW Australia; 00:18:25) MARCEL MONTREAL & AMI SOLA vs PIERRE BERNAERT & JACK ROUXEL (01/12/1962; French Catch; 00:43:11) Segunda Caida review of the match. MOTO (02/12/1962; WWA Los Angeles, CA; 00:07:19) This match was made available through a “The Story Of” syndicated documentary series.
